Mini Split they put in did not work correctly (did not heat anywhere near set temperature), and when I called for service was mocked by the service person for not calling them more quickly, and then they said they would charge to figure it out, even though it had only been used for a total of a few months. After another big-name, local company let my 90-year old mother down and left her w/o adequate heat for 2 weeks with 20° temps at night, Hawn came through with flying colors. I made an appointment, with Hawn Heating, two months ago to have my furnace and ductwork checked. My bedrooms are currently reading 57 degrees as I write this...I received my 'evening before reminder call'. It's 8 am and I am waiting for the service person to show up! I get a call around 8:10 am...."our work person called in sick, and I need to reschedule with you.... and... I don't have an open appointment for a month" (mid-January) ...Seriously! You don't have another service person to take the 'sick' person's place? I am reading the reviews that other people are complaining about the same thing.... I need to call someone else.... They have missed 2 appointments with us now after taking 2 days off of work to meet with them and complete the job. The first appointment they didn't show up nobody called me I had to call them and they just said that someone that handles it had been sick ....the 2nd time they said the air compressor blew up??!! We are looking for an HVAC company to help with getting a new system. We had an appointment set up and Hawn called to reschedule, which was not a big deal. The problem was my husband had to take off work to be here for the rescheduled visit and no one called or showed up. We waited about 20-30 minutes. My husband then called saying he wanted to cancel, and the woman asked about our name and address and stuff and didn't say anything about them not already being here. Very unprofessional experience. After having a bad experience with another local HVAC company I am shopping around for a new company. I have called several businesses and the woman who answered the phone here was rude and unhelpful. I politely inquired about their service agreement and she seemed annoyed and put out to explain it. Ends up it's not a good value anyway. I will not give Hawn my business after how I was treated on the phone. When I need to call a business I want to know I will receive courteous service. I cannot praise this company enough. I wanted a second opinion on cost of replacing my air conditioner and Jeanie was super polite, knowledgeable, and helpful on the phone. I explained everything that had transpired with my original company and she said it sounded perfectly reasonable and that although she would love my business there did not seem to be any reason to doubt what I was originally told. Had Hawn install a gas furnace in 2018, and it is still under warranty. A while ago I smelled gas leaking from the furnace and called them for repair. They came and checked it out and said there was no problem and their gas sniffer detected nothing. (How come I could smell it while the guy was standing there? Maybe they got their sniffer at a close-out sale at Walmart?) Figured if my house blew up I could sue them so I lived with the problem; be the richest dead man alive. (Really, the smell was minor, however, enough for me to notice it just walking by the furnace. But as RGE said, you should NEVER smell gas, that's why they put the odor in it, to tell you a dangerous situation exists.) Had RGE come to check it. Their sniffer device started going off as soon as they entered the room. When they took the cover off the furnace and checked inside, the device went wild like a Geiger counter at Chernobyl. (Clickety-clickety-click!!!) Called Hawn while the RGE guy was still at my home. The Hawn lady got VERY irritated, said nothing was wrong with it, the valves always leak, that this was the third call in a couple of weeks about these valves and these 'those young guys at RGE don't know what they're doing.' (The RGE guy overheard and whispered to me that the lady on the phone was probably never on a service call in her life... and I bet he's right.) Except he wasn't a young guy, probably in his mid fourty's with a $18,000 sniffer tool. (He probably didn't get his at Walmart.) So Hawn believes a furnace leaking gas is just fine and I shouldn't worry about the smell of gas. Then how do I know when it gets to the point where I should worry if it's not the smell of gas itself? Wait 'til I blow up and then I'll know? My nose works better than Hawn's Walmart sniffer for sure. I can tell there's a problem, I just can't determine the point of imminent explosion. And if the valves always leak gas because it's 'normal', then why for the first 5 years its normal leaking operation wasn't occurring? Maybe it was actually defective for the FIRST five years by NOT leaking, but now that it's leaking it's okay? Who knows? I don't think it's RGE who doesn't know what they're talking about. Even though the leaking furnace is still warranted by Hawn I'm thinking of getting my maintenance contract from someplace else next year. And I still have to pay almost $300 dollars to fix the problem because the part is covered but not their work or paper work or something. That's besides the couple hundred dollar a year maintenance contract I have. But they graciously waived one or two hundred MORE for the service call itself, even though they need not do so they said, since it was more than 30 days from the last time they came... when they came and didn't fix the problem. They could have made this a NEW service charge. I feel so blessed. So, they're coming to fix it... tomorrow afternoon, and it's going to be in 30's tonight with no heat (Can't be turned back on until repaired and re-checked by RGE, which might mean no heat for 2 nights & 30's again tomorrow). I believe my service contract is supposed to get me priority maintenance, but I could be wrong. But since I bought my furnace, whole house air, and water heater from them you might think they would respond quickly. Then again, they have nothing left to sell me so I see how I could be sent to the back of the line. That's usually how these things work. At 73 with a neurological condition that makes me painfully sensitive to even cool conditions, this is no fun. I could have been an E. Musk Space-X rocket! You know how well those work. Hawn's leaking gas furnace that they pronounced to be in tip-top shape could have turned me into one. You would think I would get a discount or something for all this. Yes? No? Maybe? Guess not. I can't believe I forgot to write a review - until now. Maybe it's because it's the middle of winter and I am so thankful that my home is really warm now. Ok - short back story. I've lived in my house for almost 7 years now, and the boiler we had been here for about 50 years. It was well made obviously because it lasted so long, but it was definitely on its way out, and I wanted to intervene before I woke up one morning freezing, with frost growing on the windows. I did some shopping around, and decided to go with Hawn. Maybe it was the sales pitch. Maybe it was the way they answered all my questions. Maybe it was the recommendation from a friend. Either which way - I was going with Hawn. They also managed to secure me a really solid, reliable boiler before Carrier switched to a newer model that lacks a track record. I wasn't actually home for the install, but my husband reports that they came in, did their job, took a short break for lunch, came back finished up, and CLEANED UP when they finished. I think the basement floor is now cleaner than it ever has been. To get any kind of compliment from my husband is rare, so I can't say enough for the work they did. They were professional, polite, and a pleasure to do business with. I would warn you that they aren't cheap - you pay a little more for quality parts and service, but I am really pleased with the whole process, and look forward to doing business with them again. If you're in the market for heating units or service, consider giving Hawn a chance. read more

Apparently, it's a season of repairs for us. This time, the furnace decided to stop working. The children huddled around a space heater as they moaned about being cold as they got ready for school. Even the fog looked pitiful. We called Hawn and someone was out a few hours later. The technician checked several things and walked us through everything. Finally concluding that the igniter needed replacing. This required a certain bit of acrobatics because nothing is ever simple in our house but he got the job done. We called Hawn to service our 10 yr old Carrier Furnace they installed. We spent over $1800 on replacing a Carrier furnace inducer. The furnace worked for a few hours and stopped. They came and said we now need a control circuit board, which would run about $600. Later he checked on the part and said it was actually one thousand dollars. The service repair guy was very professional and courteous. He left and said to get back to them once we decided what to do. We looked the part number up and they sell new for around $400 so we bought the factory authorized replacement. Short on cash we purchased one and installed it using an electronic specialist that we knew and it worked fine except now the blower motor wasn't coming on. Called Hawn back to see if they could come out and test or replace that and I was informed that they will never come and do anything ever again on our furnace and left us in the cold. I told them I understand they are not responsible for anything related to the control circuit board and the new problem was unrelated to this but they cut all ties because we tried to replace a simple part that we couldn't afford. Again, we have no extra money for these repairs and no heat in zero degree weather. We finally went with a brand new simple, less efficient furnace from another company, which we would have done in the beginning if we knew of all these issues. read more

It's rare for me to give 5-star reviews since my thinking is that it means "I wouldn't change a thing." And that's exactly how I feel about Hawn. From the customer service reps on the phone with whom you schedule your appointments, to the technicians who come to service your heater, to their pricing, and to their annual service agreements, they are first class all the way. We don't have a cooling system beyond the window units we put in and take out each year, so I can't speak to Hawn's servicing of those units. Our heater is a *steam* heater and is ancient -- easily 60 years old or more ... no one is sure. Thankfully Hawn has technicians like Dale & Gary who specialize in servicing steam heaters -- and Hawn has the foresight to train younger technicians for when their current technicians retire (sniff sniff). They have been super helpful, and readily available for the 2 times in 8 Winters when we've needed servicing beyond just the annual tune-up. One time while Gary was helping us, he mentioned our water heater, next to our heating unit, and that he noticed its age. It was just something he did to be helpful -- knowing we're still newbies at home ownership. He ended up saving us -- just as we bought a new one and replaced ours, it cratered. We've just had Hawn here t replace a valve in our heater. The price was exactly what they quoted, the timing of their service was expedient, and they were as clean and courteous as they always are ... and now masked and protocoled as you'd expect from the most talented of service-people during a global pandemic. I called Hawn for a service call for my furnace. I had a service call 2 weeks ago and my furnace stopped working again. I had a service man at my door within 3 hours. Gary the service man went right to work found the problem within 5 minutes. He showed me the problem and corrected it. I was amazed at the fact that the call was no charge. They balanced the system and repaired the humidifier without extra charge.The Amanda furnace is incredible. My house is a barely insulated 1830's farmhouse. Never been so comfortable. I sought out Hawn based on the recommendation of a trusted friend. I ultimately chose Hawn to remove our oil furnace and replace it with a natural gas after meeting with one of their sales persons. The communication was professional, friendly, and I didn't feel pressured into buying a product I didn't really need or want. The installation crew was very nice. I felt confident in their skills. I don't know what else to say, the experience was just over all very good. I had to have a chimney liner installed, Hawn contracts that service and even those guys were very pleasant to deal with. Overall, I guess no one really WANTS to have to deal with furnace issues, but this was positive experience and if you have to buy a new furnace I would recommend Hawn. read more

I have an old furnace with several problems. The first tech only noticed that I needed a new inducer motor. We paid for that, but but blower was still intermittent while below temp. At least we had heat, but when it got cold out it wasn't enough. So we called again and tech#2 didn't notice the intermittent blowing, cleaned a sensor and left. So we called again and tech #3 didn't notice anything until i went down there with him and told him when the blower motor cut out. He was surprised and then noticed an oil leak. He replaced the blower motor and was leaving when the motor cut off again. Bad circuit board! If only tech#1 would have noticed any of these other problems we would have gotten a new furnace. The boss has made several contradictory excuses and refuses to credit the cost of the first motor toward a new furnace. I will not use this company again due to the incompetence of the techs, and the money grubbing attitude of the boss. read more

For our system routine maintenance was done by hawn last year in september, and we were very satisfied with service, no doubt about it. Today we got some problem with our system, and when we called for service at 8 AM, and there reponse was to visit us in next 2-3 days and I was surprised. Looking at problem I enquired with Betlem and Issac and they were really very good to offer same day appointment though I was a new customer for them. I took services from one of them and really happy. As for as routine service done last year by Hawn, I have no complaint, it was really good, but seen there reponse when I was in trouble really shocked me, though they advertise 24*7 emergency service but atleast I could not get it, may be problem with there receptionist who take call or may be something else, so can not comment read more

Very poor service - late for appointment - no courtsey call to let me know - offered a whopping $10 reduction on my bill whoopeee - guess my time is only worth $10. Too bad companies don't value exisiting customers especially when so much competition in this arena that customer service makes the difference.
