We fix cars and gift them to single parents for the holiday. Today we went to pick up a car that was stored at Aamco and it was in a tough spot and we couldn't get it on the trailer. The owner (and I hate I didn't get his name) let not one but 4-5 of his men stop what they were doing to help us get it on the trailer and it wasn't an easy task!! I had an excellent experience with Randal at Aamco Athens. I'm a woman, but I know more than most about engines (thanks dad), so I can always tell when a shop is trying to take advantage. This shop is not one of those places. They found a very hard to find part for my classic + rebuilt my transmission and the final bill was close to the price I expected to pay (I have mechanics in the family so I had a general idea). I'm so happy with Aamco as a company that I'll probably purchase the nationwide lifetime warranty. On a side note this garage notices the little things... a tech came out to help knock an old rusty bolt out of my tailgate & as I was pulling away, I noticed that they fixed my window crank. Very happy with the service. My daughter, a UGA student, was not able to get her car to start and of course I'm 13 hours away. I contacted the shop to let them know what the issue was and that I was having the car towed to the shop. Stacy, the GM, contacted me through out the diagnostic process and was able to make the repairs same day. Professional service at a reasonable price. Took my car in for extensive repairs on my engine and brakes. They made sure that the repair didn't take much of my time and effort. Communicated with me the type of repairs as well as the costs for them before deciding to do them... Their prices are honest to god reasonable. Checked the costs with my family who owns business similar to AAMCO but located up north and far from where I live in the South... They said the costs were about right and great. Both the mechanic and clerk kept me abreast of the repairs as to what have been done and the time frame. Even drove me to my teaching job.. Saved me the trouble of renting a car. Mind you, that was for a day until I got myself a rental car since the necessary repairs ran on for more than a day. I was having a problems with my car and took it in to have it look at. I was told it would be free to check out the car and they would call me before charging me for anything.So I down it off at 8am. by 2pm i call and was told that they were having a busy day and still needed to the pricing. At 3pm they call me with a price to got the tram holes change with was $100 more then another company quote. So i ask about some of the other problems i ask about when i brought the car in. EVERY time they told me they would have to call me back. this happen 4 or 5 times!!!!! They told me that my Allternator was make a noise, but when ask "what was making the noise?" He told me he have to look and call me back again!!! after all that i did not feel that they would do a good job on anything and when to pick up my car. I took my 2007 Durango to the Aamco place because of their well-known diagnostic center. They fixed all of the problems with my SUV. At my original visit they let me wait in their awesome customers lounge. I had a recliner, control of the TV remote and the company of their shop cat, Beep Beep, to keep me company. It felt like I was taking it to a trusted friend The transmission went out on our Suburban and we had it transported to AAMCO Athens for evaluation late in the afternoon on Monday. I wish I could give them zero stars, because that's what they deserve. You will be incredibly sorry and incredibly broke if you take your car to the Athens AAMCO. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR THERE! I would not suggest you take it to any other AAMCO either really because while they do offer a nationwide warranty, each AAMCO is independently owned and operated. Also, they will not help you unless the location you originally had it serviced at is willing to take on the cost of repairs being done under warranty at locations besides their own. read more

Manager assumed that I was asking them to diagnose my transmission issue and taking it some where else to have repaired. ( his words ) Then told me it would be $99 per hour to diagnose and it would take more than an hour to determine. I told him that i was tired of this transmission problem and I wanted them to fix it and he said that I should take it back to where I had it installed. read more

If I could I would give Athens AAMCO zero stars. Robbie is a liar and they are unethical. After recommending that we have our transmission replaced they damaged the body and had to fight with them to have it fixed. Then the starter FELL OFF because they forgot to put it back on correctly damaging our flywheel. They insisted it wasn't their fault and had us replace the starter first. The starter went out after a week. After promising to fix this and bringing it all the way back to Athens (over an hour drive) and waiting over a week (they knew it was coming for over a week) they replaced the starter and not the flywheel. Got the total run around, they refused to put anything in writing. Lied to, hung up on. The starter went out again because the flywheel was damaged leaving us stranded hooked to a horse trailer for the third time. Don't believe anything they say. Robbie will tell you anything to make money and then get rid of you. He is a weasel. Check their F rating with BBB before doing business with them. Corporate does not do anything with customer complaints. We paid over $3000 to AAMCO and will now have to have truck fixed again ourselves and have to take AAMCO to court for damages. We have been without our truck for over three months trying to deal with this situation. Fortunately for us this is an extra vehicle. Pass this one by. read more
