IF they show up at all, or even to the correct house, their treatment seems to be only moderately effective in controlling the spider population. However 2 out of 3 applications have been done to the wrong house and they offer horrible customer service. You get the impression that you are inconveniencing them and that you're at fault for any issues. I honestly do not know how this company is still in business given my experience and reading horrifying experiences of other customers on this site and others. It's no wonder they handcuff you with a contract. No sane person would continue to put up the incompetence and abuse. read more

Don't Open The Door! I received a solicitation from a nice sales guy. I advised him that I didn't want the service but he did what sales people do and kept shuffling the prices around. Due to his ambition, I went ahead and said I would do 1 service. Why did I say that? 1 service is super high and then you are soon talked into a contract. I wouldn't of had an issue with the contract but the pest solution in which they use, didn't kill any regular house pests that a raid bomb killed a couple of weeks after treatment. They said that they would remove visible webs, nests, treat in the home. Nope, nope, nope. The service is not worth it. Just a way to get you to pay them a subscription fee and lock you in. Last year a young man came to our door and we finally they could give us one spray. Well we later found out we were signed up for a year. The only bugs killed were Lady Bugs and preying mantis. We never had ants and have had many problems with them. I talked to them last fall and they told us we had to finish out the year. Well we finished it and now we have received another email this year saying they will come tomorrow. We have been out of town for mothers funeral so didn't see the STUPID EMAIL UNTIL TONIGHT. Hawx had a sales rep. in our neighborhood going around. I told them I was already using another pest company but told them I was still having issues with lawn gnats. They said they could get rid of them with no problem. I told them if they did I would keep using them and if not I would go back to my original pest company. Sales guy was nice. Service tech was nice. Unfortunately they were unable to do anything about the lawn gnats but refused to let me out of the one year agreement that I had to sign, even though the sales rep. said it wouldn't be a problem. Customer service is garbage. I spoke to two account managers, one of which said they would cancel upcoming appointments so I wouldn't be billed until they could contact the sales rep. about letting me out of my agreement. My house was serviced 3 days later and I was billed. Second account manager said there was nothing they could do and there was no one above her that I could talk to. Also, my other pest company is better in every way. They do more. They cost less. There customer service is amazing whether it be by phone or e-mail. (Hawx doesn't even respond to e-mails.) last fall, a predatory door-to-door salesman talked me in to a discounted one time treatment because my neighbor (whom the salesman mentioned by name) was supposedly having them come out the next day, so if I got a treatment the same day, they could knock it out while they were already in town. he held up an ipad signature page for me to sign and said it was for the payment for the treatment taking place the next day. there was no writing on the page, just a signature line, like you would expect for a credit card payment. I then got an email saying i had signed up for a contract that would charge me monthly for quarterly services. luckily, there was a 3 day window to cancel before it would cost me a $200 cancelation fee. I attempted to call hawx multiple times, sat on hold for actual hours, and tried live chat and the call back options to cancel the treatment scheduled for the next day, and end my contract before it was too late. i was unable to get a response. i spoke with my neighbor who said he had told the salesman to kick rocks and was certainly not having them come to his house. i was freaking out that I had gotten scammed, so I contacted the bbb, and found a plethora of other complaints for similar situations. only after I submitted my complaint to the bbb did Hawx respond to me, and cancel my plan. I then received a call from the original salesperson who attempted to make me feel guilty because, "we talked about this and you knew what you were signing up for". I informed him I changed my mind and asked not to be contacted again. I thought it was all over, but just recently I started receiving unsolicited sales texts. and emails from them. so if they can come back around for round 2, so will I. I literally bought a no soliciting sign because of my bad experience with this company, their unethical sales tactics, lack of customer support, and just general lack of professionalism taught me a lesson I'm not going to forget very soon. read more

They lock you in to about 3 visits totaling over $200 and then come back after winter time and charge your account again. We said we didn't want their service anymore because we had more mole hills now even after they treated our yard in the fall, but they said 'the only way to get out of the contract was to pay a $75 fee for one more visit.' My name is Julie Moore. In July a person from Hawx walked into my yard and told me that there was a special offer for pest control for $40. They said usual price was $200. We thought that was a great deal. They were going around all of Frankfort that day. She wanted my debit card for payment and I was a little skeptical. I asked and made sure that this was a one time charge. She said "of course". Yesterday I get and email that says they had taken another $40 out of my account. I called Hawks pest control and talked to an operator. She told me that we have a subscription for one year at $40 a month but that they would only be out every 3 months to treat. I told her that I wanted this to stop I wanted to cancel my subscription if that's what we had. She told me I could if I wanted to pay a penalty which was $220. I let her know about the lady that came up to my yard. And what was said. She told me that she was sorry but we had a subscription. I'd let her know that the pest control that they did did not work I still have the same problems with bugs around my house and she told me that sometimes that happens but that we could get a warranty we had a warranty that they would come back out. What Hawx pest control did was take advantage of someone and they got away with it. I am calling Hawks and letting them know that they are never to step foot on my property again or they will be trespassing. I would never suggest for anyone to deal with these people. I reached out to Hawx to obtain a quote for pest control services through the Thumbtack platform and they were very pushy via phone and wanted to book me immediately. I informed them that I was going to get a few more quotes before making a decision and I would call them back if they were the right fit for me. After hanging up, they began blowing up my phone calling me 11x in one day and wouldn't leave a voicemail so of course I didn't answer thinking at first it was a scammer. The weekend went by without any calls but here come Monday and I started receiving calls again and began blocking numbers in which they would continue to call me from a different number until I eventually answered on the 7th call and asked who it was and informed Cole, who I spoke to, that they needed to stop contacting me and harassing me and because of this I was definitely not using their company for service. He then proceeded to ask me if I have picked up any of their calls to which I informed him that on the initial day I called, I told them I would give them a call back if I decided to utilize them. Let me save you a headache-- If Hawx pest control guys show up at your door, DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ANY TREATMENTS WITH THEM. Hawx is horrible. They are corrupt and will give you some cheap introductory offer, then continually send people to your house for treatments you haven't agreed to, lie and tell you you're under a contract you didn't sign, and even after making it clear you're done with them now and canceling, STILL show up at your house again and again. When I signed up in August, I agreed to TWO bug treatments and ONE mosquito treatment. That was all I agreed to, and I was told that was all I was obligated to. We did that, the end right? No. They tried to come back in December, I told them no, we're canceling, no further treatments please. Yet still, 4 or 5 more times since then they have sent guys here to treat. I keep turning them away saying NO, WE ALREADY CANCELED. Well I just returned home from a walk, to find a guy finishing a mosquito treatment that I did not agree to or even want, and giving me a bill for it. I'm livid. Customer service claims to have a contract that I signed... I ABSOLUTELY DID NOT SIGN ANYTHING. They are frauds. Recently we had a solicitor come to our door from this company. In fact they have been by our home at least twice ( after being told we were not interested). The last time they rang the doorbell after 7 pm when my 10 month old is asleep my husband decided to try out the service. We were hopeful because we were told that they will never spray inside the home and could guarantee no bugs inside ( great, so we thought). The technician showed up to my home to spray and asked to come in. I was thoroughly confused because I was under the impression that they did not do this. I told him no and that he could only treat the outside of the home. After this experience I decided having been given false information I wanted to cancel. I called the main office in St. Louis to cancel our service and it took several days to receive a call back. Once I did I was met with a snide sounding man child who wanted to point out that my husband had signed some kind of contact. ( I have no copy of said contract) Overall I am throughly displeased with the pushy sales tactics, false promises of no chemicals in the home, and rude customer service. Sales staff will lie to get sales. The Hawx sales person (Indianapolis) promised free lawn care applications, aeration, and over seeding with the purchase of two pest control applications of $75 each. The worksheet showed a total of $150 for 6 events and I did not find a reason to question this further. It seemed like too great of a deal that I couldn't pass up. I dropped my former provider that charged less than half the amount that Hawx charges; because of the free services offered. This apparently was a lie. Hawx charged me $75 per lawn care service (not pest control) from my credit card. Upon calling to correct, they refused to do anything about it and even let me know they were going to charge me a ridiculous discount penalty of $174 when I decided to drop them. A penalty!! Do NOT use this company. They deserve zero stars for preying on my elderly mother-in-law. Their door to door sales rep -Wade Rasmussen, knocked and asked if she needed pest control treatment. Since it had been over a year, she said okay. The salesman had her sign a paper for the next day spraying. However a month later Hawx called to schedule the next appointment. She said she didn't need or want more service. Hawx said she signed a 1 year contract that can't be cancelled without a large fee. This was NEVER mentioned during the quick sales pitch. And my mother-in-law has a hard time reading small print. We called them (and waited on hold 15 min the another 20 waiting to speak to the supervisor and ask for manager to call back- never happened) and also filed a Better Business Bureau complaint but Hawx said it was a signed contract and no cancellations. Update: We called again and let them know we would not be paying the $200 canceling fee. We looked at our bank statement today and saw that they have, without our permission, illegally taken money from our account. He was selling door to door and told us it would help him pay for college. When we asked if there was a cancellation he said there was no fee and we could cancel at anytime. We called to cancel because we are not satisfied with their service, and they said we have to pay $200 to do so. Nowhere in the contact does it specify a $200 fee. Our other option is to keep the contract and pay an additional $300 for a service we are not happy with. We've already sunk $200 into this deal, so at the end of this we will be out $400 and have no results to speak of. We could have spent $400 at the hardware store to get 5 years worth of bug spray and had better results! We've called the parent company headquartered in Utah, we explained to them the situation with the sales rep, that we weren't happy with the service and would like to cancel without a fee, and they said, 'you signed it, so you have to pay it. We weren't there when you had the conversation so you can't prove he was unethical.' Wow! Regardless if he was or wasn't, the service wasn't good, it didn't work! We asked to speak to someone who could help us and they said they were the 'top' (Jackson) and the next level up is the owner who doesn't take phone calls. my husband supposedly signed this contract (not his signature) but has my initials on it. we were told that if we were not happy with the service, it would only cost 49.99 to cancel. they came the first month and within a. week, there was more ant around, the mosquitos were back and the spiders were back. called and they sent someone, I could not get to the hone when they called, but Calle the person back within 5 minutes. sid not answer the phone, did not call back, actually the company never called back. on the termite contract, the hone number was not to the company, but to some poor person that was not affiliated with the company. they did not come this month and told me that I had to be happy with an appointment next month, but charged me for this month. when I called they told me that it did not matter about what I thought, I would have to pay for the service, or pay 1900.00 to cancel. this company are full of liars and thieves, will be reviewing them where I can. they have all 5 star ratings on the website, which are made up by the company. all other sites are around one star. Multiple issues with this company. 1. When the technician comes for indoor treatment, they don't bring in indoor broom to remove spiderwebs. They don't bring in ant baits. We have to call the office again for this. 2. Inside the house, I still see some spiders( So, their treatment is not 100% effective) 3. Outside the house, I still see lot of ants. So,I can say their treatment is 0 to 10% effective 4. Had a mosquito treatment in the yard and same day evening, I had many mosquito bites and the saga continues every day. This is 100% useless treatment. So, I strongly discourage to signup with this company. read more

I got Hawx because it was cheaper than Terminix. I thought it was just a cheaper local alternative. However, it hasn't really curved our bug issue. We still have silverfish scurrying around the walls. There are several spiders which make a me think there must be plenty of bugs for them to eat. Today my 3 year old discovered ants on our carpet. And of course it's Saturday, and there is no way to contact anyone until Monday. I don't get it, because we are extremely clean people. I signed while I was on the phone via a online document because I had to pay over the phone with my card & didn't realize what I signing for was a TWELVE month agreement & when you DONT like their services and want to cancel after the FIRST service and it just gets worse and NOT any better pest wise they make you pay $224 and call you many times a day, send you many emails, and tell you that you signed that agreement and have to pay it. This company should be investigated for fraud with a lawsuit to follow. They will bait you by completely misrepresenting their service and then slap you with a cancellation fee of around $250. Be aware that they call it an initial service fee. The company appears to make money by deceiving individuals and then take their money. They will draw it out of your account without your permission and send you threatening letters. Their service is a joke. They arrived at my home and sat in their truck for an hour, came out and sprayed a spot on my patio and then left. I started getting calls and text messages saying my account was delinquent. Got caught in the scam they use to get you in with the $25 initial offering and then increasing it $89. Tried the service for a couple treatments still had ants and bugs in yard. When I tried to cancel offered to treat one more time, still was not happy with results. When I called to cancel again said there was a $224 cancellation fee. My house used to get aphids really bad all over the front, and we had flees in our grass. One of the door to door salesman caught us at home and gave a pretty good deal, so we decided to give it a shot for a year. Service has been great so far, and the whole thing is warrantied apparently. read more
