The snow mountain roll was recommended as their most popular and I don't like mayo but it was still VERY good to me. The spicy tuna (that I order everywhere I go) is very good. Nice heat and well balanced on the smooth creamy side. Tuna tataki has some dried onion and wonderful ponzu sauce---I highly recommend it!! Wow...this place is a must try!! Hey! I haven't gone here in awhile! I used to come here all the time because I loved their sushi, miso soup and shumai. It's a tiny clean place. I haven't gone back in a couple years because it drove me mental that it took over an hour (no matter what time of day) to get my order. I've stood in that tiny little room for what seems like over an hour waiiiiting for my food. I understand it's a small place but eh... it drove me nuts. But I miss it! I have been going to Hayashi since long time ago. The food is super as always. For remote address Hayashi is a shining star in the past! However, the service is terrible. We went there on weekend noon where only two tables were occupied. The waitress did not pout water to us after 20 mins or until I requested. There is no service at all. The water was not re-filled, the plates were not collected. The portion of food dropped significantly compared to the past. They do have a high chair but they will not provide to you so anyone carrying a small children should absolutely avoid this place! The food feels like it contains high level of MSG. Be aware! The owner came at the end but seemed to be okay with that waitress's awful service. I do not know what happened but I am very disappointed. They used to run a reward program but it turned out upon redeeming all of your points do not exist. What is the point having such reward program if people cannot redeem? read more

I was excited to discover this hideaway spot since I'm new to Boston and love Korean and Asian food! Going on my high expectations on opening day, I sampled several of the tasty tapas. However, I experienced a bout of food poisoning the following evening which left me befuddled because all I ate during the day was my usual diet. Ordered the Bul-go-ki Box lunch for pick up: Here is the breakdown of what was ordered and what was received: Ordered Lunch Box, All orders served with Rice, Miso soup, Salad, 3 pcs of Avocado, Cucumber Maki, Gyoza, and Shumai Presentation: 5 stars - very pretty, well laid out and you get a hearty portion for lunch (even with some missing - I'm certainly full) Salad and Miso soup both 5 Stars - wonderful tasty dressing and the Miso was solid with lots of tofu and seaweed. Gyoza and Shumai - 4 stars one piece of each - both good Rice = 2 stars - there was a film on the bottom of the scoop where you could tell it had been sitting out - bummer 2 points - I mean its rice, stir it up. Avocado = Missing = 0 Stars, such a tease ;( Cucumber Maki = 3 stars 3 pieces - good fresh, nicely rolled - good (picture indicated 6 pieces and a maki is normally 6 pieces) Bul-go-ki = 1 Star - they do say Korean "Style" marinated - but it missed the mark - lack of sweetness and sesame oil made it more like Chinese beef, which if that is what you want - great you will enjoy it - if you are craving real Korean Bul-go-ki then this will not do the trick. Overall, I would give it another try for the Sushi, but won't do the Bul-go-ki, but points for offering something that is hard to find in Easton. read more

LOVE this place. I actually used to work here when it was called Sinsen and the food was and is just as delicious! Even though it's small, I feel like it make the place all the more better. It doesn't have that chain restaurant feel so it's a lot more intimate and the portions are perfect. Price is good, pretty typical of any Japanese restaurant...sushi is always fresh and delicious. They actually catered for my sisters wedding this past July, and everyone at the wedding (guest list of about 150...) loved the food. Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, it has all been so fresh and melt in your mouth delicious. The owner John is such a nice guy, and has an awesome attitude. This restaurant could be four or five stars if they had ready enough staff and that staff was prepped on customer service. We've gone here twice and although the sushi is excellent as other reviewers have stated, the service leaves a lot to be desired. The restaurant is small enough to only have one server, but on a Friday night they really need a bus boy to help clean up. When we arrived there were four open tables. Three were covered with dirty dishes and the waitress had to clean one so we could sit. The other two remained dirty throughout our meal. It took twenty minutes before our order was taken and another soften before our drinks arrived. And when that did, my beer arrived in a chilled glass but completely warm. When I pointed this out to the waitress, her reaction made it clear that she had known she was serving warm beer and that she'd hoped that the glass would make it cold enough that I wouldn't notice. I ended up getting another brand of beer which is what she should have offered to do in the first place instead of trying to pull a fast one. read more

I was a little scared of this place.....it lacks curb appeal... This is definitely a "take-out" sushi joint. We ate in, and the service was good. The dining area was packed....but it is very uncomfortable and tired. It looks like they've made an attempt to decorate the place on a low budget (design-on-a-dime). The chairs and tables are rickety. Also, we felt like the staff was "watching us" due to the arrangment of the seating and sushi bar. Oh, and the air vents blow strongly all over the tables (gross)....I know that sounds picky, but I like eating sushi in what I believe is a near-sterile environment (stop laughing). We didn't eat all day and were starving when we got there and usually when you are super hungry anything tastes good but the food was terrible. The only reason we finished it was cause they were not offering us a refund and we were simply hungry!! We didn't even get the right sushi roll and when I said something to the sushi chef he got upset and very rude. If you're going to have prices that high at least make sure your customer is happy and if your customer isn't happy try to make it right don't make it worse because you can't handle criticism. Hayashi is a sushi oasis on Route 138. It's small, not very flashy, and you can easily miss it driving by. However, if you find your way into this strip mall gem, you're going to be very, very happy. Hayashi has arguably the freshest sushi on the South Shore. I've been a few times now and every single piece of fish I have ordered has been prepared perfectly. They have a wide range of sushi, sashimi, and nigiri, and they also serve many non-sushi dishes for the less adventurous. If you even have room after all the delicious sushi, you should try the green tea ice cream which is served inside a fried rice shell. Absolutely wonderful meal from start to finish. The only "downside" to Hayashi is its size. It can be very tight in there as the dining room has about five to seven small tables. The decor is interesting. It's not the typical "faux Japan" theme that so many sushi places seem to have. It has an interesting "IKEA/first real apartment" furnishing with modern fashion art on the walls. While this may seem out of place, anyone who has been to Asia can attest that the "What the Hell Is That?" theme for decor is closer to contemporary Asian style than a dirty coy pond and/or some fake Terra Cotta soldiers. Overall be ready to enjoy some of the best, most fresh sushi you've had in this area. Also, give yourself an extra 10 minutes to accidentally drive by a few times. read more

The atmosphere in this place is great. I love the decorating and feel of the place. Unlike other people I didnt have a problem with service, but then again we were the only people there at the time. Why 3 stars? Well the miso soup was extremely hot. I also got the spicy tuna and hayashi rolls. The rice on both the rolls was cold. It wasnt hard or anything, but it was very cold, which made it hard to enjoy the flavors of the rolls. So between the hot miso and cold rice I was disappointed. If the rice was warm I would have given it 4 stars. My fiance had the katsu udon. He said it was very bland, but he liked it a lot - he likes bland food. Price wise I would say its normally priced for sushi in the area. I was really hoping to love the food there, but unfortunately I will not be going there again. read more

Some of the best sushi I have ever tasted. The Snow Mountain Maki is simply to die for, with the Shrimp tempura and coconut milk...Oh My God its amazing and a must try. If you are looking for a quick lunch this may not be the place for you. However, they offer online ordering which is super convenient. They are currently closed due to expanding into the space next door where I believe they now now be offering Izakaya dining which is the equivalent to Japanese tapas. I freakin LOVE sushi, and this place makes great sushi. If you eat sushi, you already know about the usual sushi plates. I usually get Unagi which is great here and a Roll with more than one kind of fish, I mix it up on that one. However, I want to suggest the Pan seared Tuna special, its right in the middle of the menu, you can't miss it, it goes by a different name I think. I believe it is an appetizer, and it is priced with the more expensive rolls in the $12 range, but I think if I had to have a last supper, like if I was on death row and could have a final meal, I would include this dish. The quantity was not disappointing, shared among two people, and I felt like Pop-eye after I ate it.. results may vary, I am kind of weird. The other thing I want to suggest is the Crunch and Munch. These are two things I MUST have when I go here now. I have been getting the Crunch and Munch for years. They serve Saki, they give you a little check list so you don't have to struggle with the names of dishes (most sushiu places do) It is a very calm atmosphere, the employees are very good, the food is great, they have Saki and serve it warm, I believe they may have other options for alcoholic bevs but you'll have to see for yourself. I am happy to live within walking distance of a great sushi bar. read more

Based on the recommendation of a meetup friend, I came here with a small group last night for dinner. Four of us shared 2 tuna and salmon sushi combos (4 pieces each salmon and tuna nigiri, one spicy tuna rolls, two tekka rolls). The dinner is listed 'for 2' and comes with miso soup, but the waitress only brought out 2 bowls (??). The sushi was very fresh and absolutely delicious. We also ordered some gyoza and edamane, and our fifth member order shrimp pad thai for her meal (she enjoyed it). As noted by other reviewers, this place is very tiny. I made a reservation and was glad I did due to the small number of seats. Google's map to the restaurant is a little off; it is on 106 just north of 138, the first plaza north of the intersection. read more

The first time I called to order and have it picked up, and when I got to the restaurant to pick it up they tried to overcharge me, claiming that the prices on the website were not "up to date". Today, I ordered to have it delivered with DoorDash, and my driver had to wait over an hour for it to be ready, which means it took the restaurant an hour and 40 minutes to prepare a sushi order. I had to call the restaurant multiple times to get them to finish the order. Complete waste of time for average quality sushi. I recently discovered Hayashi through this website and fell in love. Best sushi I have had in Mass and RI so far. Very creative and VERY VERY fresh. It is a small place, maybe 10 tables and it is all IKEA-chic. But hey, I like IKEA. Because of the small dining room from almost every table you can watch the sushi chef prepare the dishes.
