They melt before you chew My veggie Habachi was good 6/10.. I wouldn't go back though . Just not my favorite I had had in Houston . The group collectively said it was okay . Bad food waste of money I'm still here sitting on my table hungry with -45 in my account. I had order tempura roll 8 and hand roll tempura 8. California roll 5 and fried rice 14. Edamame 7. Both tempura rolls were nasty had to spit out the hand rolls when I took a bite, cream cheese was expired, even the seaweed had nasty after taste, I ended up not eating them just throwing them away. California roll was stale rice and the crab tasted fishy. Fried rice with shrimp was ok but not a fan on the onions had to pick at my food. Edamame did not taste fresh. It was fast and easy. I ordered the chicken and my boyfriend ordered the shrimp fried rice. It was tasty and it was pretty cheap if unless you wanted the hibachi version. That one was slightly more expensive because you get the show. We ordered it from the kitchen and the food was out very quick! But, we should have done the hibachi for the show. We were still seated at a hibachi table so we still saw the show but we really missed out! They did the whole onion volcano, huge flames, and different tricks. It was very cool! This is easily one of the best teppanyaki restaurants in Houston, especially when it comes to the chefs performance and the quality of the food. The teppanyaki show was fun, engaging, and very well done, and everything we tried tasted fresh and flavorful. The sushi was also surprisingly good. I ordered the Firecracker Roll and the King Maki, and both were excellent. For appetizers, we tried the Crab Puffs and the Hayashi Style Fried Calamari, which were great starters and full of flavor. The complimentary soup that comes with the meal was pretty good as well and a nice way to start the dining experience. The hibachi itself was also very good, and the menu offers a wide variety of meats to choose from depending on what you're in the mood for. Came here to celebrate my brothers birthdays and overall had a good meal and good experience. The staff was friendly, helpful with the menu and our hibachi chef made it a fun experience for us all. In comparison to other hibachi restaurants I have been to, the portion sizes here are pretty good. I ordered the salmon and got two large filets. While the cook was a little more done than I prefer the seasoning was pretty good. I did also order some of the eel sushi to try and it was okay. Overall a good experience but I do wish their set up was a little different. They have chairs in a U shape with grills on each side of the U. Truly a disappointing and lackluster birthday dinner. I really wanted hibachi and sushi, was in the area, and reviews looked promising. I had to double check we had gone to the correct restaurant. The whole birthday meal of Yelp regret started by me having to the hostess stand and get an additional menu myself (not ask for one, physically get it because the hostess could not be found). The restaurant was not busy at all, yet we had to wait over 10 minutes before our semi-coherent waiter decided to leave his conversation with the sushi chef and meander over. I asked him what type of steak they used in the hibachi, his reply ... "Oh, we don't know." I asked if anyone knew, he shrugged and said "nope, it's just steak. Ya want it?" I had a couple of other basic questions that were also apparently mind boggling and could bo be answered. As we were ordering, I asked my partner if he wanted to get spicy edamame. Our waiter had zero clue I was not talking to him and replied "Sure, that sounds cool." After ordering our food he started ambling off and we had to tell him several times to wait because we wanted to order drinks. Another 10'ish minutes pass before our wine and beer arrive. Again, there are not many other customers in the restaurant; he may have had one other table and was mostly talking to the sushi chef or watching tv. Our sushi and hibachi arrive, I'd ordered my mystery steak medium but it was cooked well-done. When I mentioned it to our waiter he said "oh yeah, that's how we do medium here." I was so over the whole experience I didn't care at that point. We still hadn't received our edamame, which we specifically ordered as an appetizer. Told him to not bring it, he brought it anyway, then vanished before I had a chance to ask for another glass of wine. There's so much more I could add about this total fail of a birthday dinner, but you get the point. On the plus side, the sushi was okay. The fried rice was really good. Cannot really comment on the hibachi due to my steak being inedible and them not having any mustard dipping sauce, only a cloyingly sweet pink sauce that could not resuscitate the steak. Searching for a new Hibachi place found this one. When we pulled up I instantly knew that I had been here before but it was previously HB.. everything has changed on the inside a total remodel. Even the bathrooms are different. For appetizer we had potstickers and eggrolls they were both very delicious. Then we moved onto the soup which was bland in flavor in comparison to other onion and mushroom soup so I have had in the past. Then we moved onto our ginger salad which seem to lack flavor and ginger. For the entrée I had hibachi fillet mignon and lobster tail both were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. I am really glad I saw these guys on door dash. Door dash from time to time offers 25 and 50% off pick up discounts so I gave them a shot. Boy I am sure glad that I did. Yelp ranked Hayashi at #1, although I must acknowledge Yelp included many restaurants that don't offer the Teppenyaki grilling experience that many Americans often refer to as "Hibachi." Nevertheless, here we were on a Saturday afternoon. Let me preface this review with the acknowledgement that we've learned that lunchtime teppenyaki (hibachi) experience is not the same as the evening experience. There are often fewer occupied grills, which leaves a less festive ambience. That being said... CHEF: Our chef was rather underwhelming in his performance. He opened with the usual "making beats" performance with his spatulas, while looking at our orders, then proceeded to drop the spatulas, drop the egg, then onto the usual flame on the grill "trick." Long story short, all of his tricks throughout the visit were fumbled or done with a half-hearted attitude. THE FOOD: The wife and son ordered hibachi dishes, which came with soups and fried rice. I opted for sushi rolls. The sushi rolls were good, but their dishes and sauce were underseasoned. We knew they would be as we watched the chef cook. The Teppenyaki experience is more attributable to the chef than the restaurant, so I'm going to guess we just got one who wasn't feeling it that day. read more

Came here for dinner last night! Yummmm. The food was delicious. Teppanyaki a.k.a. hibachi is a Japanese style of cooking on a very hot flat iron grill. Everything was super yummy. Holly Molly do they have an extensive menu! There is something for everyone! The Food: We tried the steak, chicken, sushi, shrimp. The steak, chicken and shrimp were cooked perfectly. The rainbow sushi roll was good too. When you order from the tepan grill your meal will include: rice, a mix of fresh veggies, soup, salad and rice. I find it to be great value when it comes to pricing. For the salad you will have the option of the traditional ginger dressing or ranch. I would highly recommend going with the ginger dressing sooooo good They put a little too much dressing on my salad. No big deal for me but maybe others. There's an uncharge for the fried rice ($3): if not you will get traditional white rice. I highly recommend going with the fried rice. The array of veggies too will get with your protein will be brócoli, mushrooms, onions, and carrots. Everything was seasoned nicely. No complaints. The only thing I will comment on is the fried ice cream. They need to freeze the actual ice cream ball because it was melting. Overall the food and presentation was great. If too haven't been to a tepan restaurant like this here is what you can expect: They will only cook the "hibachi entrees" in front of you (refer to my photo that says tepan. You might be sitting with other guests. Most tepan grills accommodate for 7-8 people. So If you have less or more you'll find yourself joining another party, possibly. Some of the best if not the actual best sushi I have ever eaten in my life. I went here with friends this past week. We requested to be at a booth and were seated immediately. I ordered the spicy tuna roll, the dragon roll, and a side of hibachi vegetables. I also ordered champagne...its not on their menu but they did have it! The dragon roll was seriously to die for. She then said "we'll see when you get here". So I asked what is the usual wait time for 2 at 6pm on a Thursday. To which I got "there's no wait right now" and hung up the phone. That's not how customer service is done. Very rude but I brushed it off. Got there in time for happy hour. Place had a few groups in there but everyone else were on the hibachi side. Ordered 7 things off the happy hour menu. The only thing that was good was shrimp tempura appetizer. Then it's way downhill from there. Worst sushi I have eaten in recent memory. The fish was rubbery and fishy, rice thick like cement glue, and everything was so bland. This was a disgrace and a waste of food and resources. You're seriously better off eating grocery store sushi. I was taught not to waste food but each bite triggered my gag reflex. Service was also non-existent. After food was served, never saw the waitress again for 45 mins. I will never return again. Stay away from the place. To the owners, your food and staff lack the passion you need to survive. Man this place is popping! It was a pretty packed house for a Wednesday night. This was my second time here and this time around was a lot more memorable for sure. Drinks: My sisters and I had the lychee martini and presentation wise, i was not impressed, it did not even have the lychee on the rim or in the glass like I'm used to so that was a bummer, but like they say don't judge a book or drink by it's cover lol! This drink was delicious my sisters and I loved it! My niece had a virgin pina colada and she enjoyed it, she kept saying it was too pretty to drink lol. Food: I ordered a shaggy dog which I liked, no complaints and of course we had to order Hibachi. I got the hibachi steak which came with a soup and salad (get the ginger dressing, it was the bomb) and of course fried rice and veggies.
