I love Dr Hayden. His staff is super friendly and he is very thorough and personable. Explains things in a way I can understand

I actually enjoyed my eye exam! The 4 gals at the front desk were friendly and seemed amused at my attempts to joke around as I always do everywhere and to everyone. Although I do not think it's right that Medicare doesn't pay for routine but necessary to buy contacts or eyeglasses exams, I felt some empathy coming back to me. Gladly my eyes haven't changed so I was happy about that. I complimented Dr Hayden on the gal that does the preliminary eye stuff super nice, and the photos of my inner eyeball were way cool and looked like Mars Dr Hayden himself was very nice and explained what he was seeing. He had a Mensa magazine on the table in the waiting room of which he belongs. I am light years in IQ points below that lol but appreciate that a down to earth bona fide genius is my eye Docter. Dr Hayden is to good and very nice to patients but the staff is very very worst. Today I spoke to staff who's name is Maya. She was very rude to me and she was saying I was rude. I asked her to help , she said she can't help because she is not getting paid by me. My daughter failed her vision test at her school wearing the glasses and not able to see the board and since 2/3 days asking for an appointment and they can't even squeeze one patient when it's urgent. She said lot of things and hung up the phone in between the conversation. This is second time this type of conversation happened with the staff. I would recommend Dr Hayden but I wish he changes his staff. read more

This is by far the best Eye Doctor I've ever had. Everything about it is about you having the best experience. The staff is on the ball: prepared, well trained, friendly. Dr. Hayden is knowledgable, flexible, and has a great 'chairside' manner. His practice is clean and inviting, with refreshments offered. The office is clean and comfortable, and constantly being updated with the latest equipment. They always get me the best deal available based on my individual insurance situation, and they always try and find you the biggest rebates. The wide selection of glasses and contacts are ready quickly after purchase. I really can't think of what else you might want out of your eye doctor? 10/10. read more

I have been wearing glasses all my life and the pair I got from them were the worst. The prescription was not correct and they would not replace them and I went back several times for adjustments. They broke a pair and had to order a new pair. I can not wear them after spending over $500 . They are in my drawer. read more

My wife wanted to switch from our old eye doctor, and found Dr. Hayden and his exceptional reviews in a search, so we made our appointments for today. I cautioned her that it might not be as good an experience as the reviews indicated, and indeed, it was not. It was far better than we'd hoped for. The entire staff is friendly, pleasant and highly professional, and Dr. Hayden is an extremely intelligent professional, yet as personable as they come. My husband and I visited Dr. Hayden , we were long overdue for our eye exams!.... He remembered both of us, that's the "old-school" feel of this office. The old-fashioned feel , with all the latest technology !, His office looks amazing as well, feels comfy. Don't waste your money on the "box" stores. I have been going to Dr. Hayden's office for several years now. I should have reviewed them before now. The entire office is great. From the phone call to make an appointment all the way through, you are treated with care. Their professionalism is on abundant display but it isn't forced or cold. Instead it is kind and compassionate. The selection of eye ware is impressive as well. They expanded and remodeled last year. It looks really nice. Dr Hayden is a fantastic optometrist. If I could give this business 0 stars I would. I have never been treated so badly by both staff and office management. I ordered a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses and was unhappy with the final result as the Ray Ban logo was no longer on the lens. I expressed my disappointment and was laughed at by two employees, Jen and Chris, and mocked because in '10 years no one has every complained' I requested to speak with the office manager and never heard back. The following day I called and again requested to speak at the office manager. She had no empathy for the way I was laughed at and mocked, then again told me that it was my problem and in '27 years' I'm the only person who has an issue with a Rayban product coming back without the logo. I was refused a refund and was told told file a small claim. Save your money and go elsewhere. Dr. Hayden was great but the office staff is horrible and for that reason alone I will never go back. It was clear that they were just trying to squeeze out every bit of my FSA to bring cash in without caring that I was unhappy. I have been going to Dr. Hayden for about 3 years now and am always impressed with the courteous staff and level of professionalism in this office. They may not be the most high tech optometrist around but the service far outweighs any issues I have ever had. I have had trouble with the lens of a pair of sunglasses I purchased from them popping out; I drop them off and they are always willing to fix it. Even when my puppy got a hold of my glasses they were able to salvage the pair without any hesitation. Great staff, family friendly, moderate selection of lenses. read more

It is unfortunate that I am giving such a bad review. However it is the only way to show you not to waste your money on getting GLASSES there! My Appt with Dr Hayden was amazing. We discussed what I would need at length. I then went to the extended glasses area to order glasses. I specifically mentioned what I needed multiple times. When I went to pick up finished glasses I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED as they were not at all what I ordered. The tech John was adamant that I didn't order what I did order. He said he could fix it for an up charge of 200! This after I paid 240 for glasses! I am beyond infuriated! DO NOT GET GLASSES MADE THERE!! read more

Do yourself a favor and do not go here. The Doctor himself is not loathsome (Although I did have to go back twice to get my prescription adjusted) But the receptionists, the office help - when they talk to you it's like they slap you in the face. I was kept waiting for 50 minutes the first appointment. With no explanation. On a weekday, missing an additional hour of work for no reason. When I went up to the desk to ask when the Doctor can see me, she looked me up and down, and said "soon" very rudely. When I said it's already an hour past the appointment time, she snaps at me "I can reschedule for you" Really? No apology, no explanation, but she can reschedule? So I can waste another work day sitting around reading magazines at their office? The second and third times I had to go back (because of the prescription error) were no better. They act like they're wasting their time by talking to the customer - it's their JOB. They get paid for it. I repeat - DO NOT go to Hayden Optometrics. The Doc is not worth the insults handed freely at reception. read more

In the past year Dr Hayden introduced me to the Optokinetic hard contacts. I was tired of wearing my daily contacts, so he mentioned wearing hard contacts at night that reshape my eyes while I sleep. I put them in at night and I can watch tv or read easy, when I wake up, I can see, then when I take them out in the morning, I can see all day and night. I love it! Everyone has been very helpful to me. I would try it and give it a try. read more

The staff was amazing, the doctor was great.... Me and my daughter went there last week as first timers here ... I highly recomend this office for children and adults.. they were very patient with me and my daughter. By far my best experience with an eye doctor!! My daughter is usually very shy with men, even she was able to be comfortable with him!! As a mom that's a big deal!! I'm glad I found them, and you will not be disappointed with their office. We used them for many years but lately their customer service is wanting. Couldn't even get a call back from the optometrist for a question. Was told by the office manager he's too busy to do call backs - make an appt. to come in (and undoubtedly charge for it). I have been using Dr Hayden's office for me & my family for years. One of the screws fell out of my glasses which for me is a very huge problem. I don't have a spare & without my glasses I am unable to do the most basic tasks. I went to the office but they had just closed. The receptionist & some other woman was as the desk. I tapped on the door, explained my problem and was told they had already shut the computers down so they couldn't help me. Not really sure how the computer was going to fix the screw? I explain how desperate I was and again was told computers were off. So I drove to another eye doctor who I had never used and explained the problem. They took my glasses, replaced the screw and sent me on my way in about 10 minutes. Guess Dr Hayden's employees couldn't go that extra 10 minutes to help a long term client. read more

I have always had great service and care at Hayden Optometric. I was WAY overdue for a check-up and glasses and they managed to get me in quickly (within a week or so). When I walked in, I was amazed- the office is twice as big as I remembered, and they have the best and newest technologies! The one thing that hadn't changed was the great staff and Dr. Hayden, himself. He's so down to earth and it's great to see someone who obviously truly loves what he does. He was excited to answer my questions and explain how the new technology works and how much more it can tell us about our eye and general health! And the rest of the staff were so helpful in assisting me with choosing frames and the initial tests. They don't rush you, nor do they hover- they were great! Dr Hayden's office is great... The staff is friendly and knowledgeable regarding eye benefits and co-insurance. They looked up our benefits and we were able to get frames and contacts. My Daughter was heading to college and they offered to mail them directly to her school. Dr. Hayden is professional with a great sense of humor not like the stuffy eye doctors I've seen in the past. Both my fiancé and I were using Hayden Optometric when we lived in Mansfield. He gave me glasses and my fiancé contact lenses, and my fiancé frequently had problems with his contacts. They didn't fit properly, gave him headaches, and were often out of focus. We went back for another exam a year later, to tell him about the issues he had been having, and before we went in I confirmed with the receptionist that there was not going to be a charge for the exam because I wasn't sure when we were eligible. It turned out that they charged us $75 for the exam, which I paid because I thought it was actually for my own exam as they were on the same day. Upon reviewing my invoice, I emailed Dr. Hayden to explain the situation and to request a refund, explaining that we would not have had the exam had we known we would be charged, since I specifically asked that prior to the exam being conducted. I received an email back (presumably not intended for me) which read simply, "They took the f***ing prescription. No refund." I was livid, so I emailed back and said if this was how he always talked to his patients, I'd be happy to find a new doctor. He apologized profusely and blamed it on one of his former staff, who had just left on not-so-great terms, and said that she had access to his email and password and it must have been her. (Why he would not change his password after someone who had access to his account left on bad terms is beyond me, so I don't believe his response.) I got my $75 back, so I took no further action, but we ended up going to a different doctor since we frequently had issues with Dr. Hayden's staff being quite rude, and we weren't confident in the prescriptions he gave us. Both of us have since seen new doctors who told us that our prescriptions were all wrong, and we can see much better with the new ones. We will tell anyone who will listen to steer clear of Dr Hayden's office. read more

Being new to the area i decided to try out this place since it was the closest one near my work that took UHC insurance. I also wanted to go cause my eyes seemed to be getting worse and i didn't want to discover any type of shock at the DMV having them tell me i needed glasses. SO, I scheduled the appointment within a few days of calling and when i went there the office isn't elaborate but it is the quality that i the most impressed with. The equipment appeared to be adequate and the staff was not bubbly but helpful as much as they could be. Dr. Hayden was super friendly and we chatted about his family and mine as well. I left not needing any type of prescription but told my wife she needed to go there. So we scheduled her appointment and brought the kids along. They were typical kids being monsters in the small waiting area. The staff didn't seem to mind and took it with stride. We ended up in and out quickly and didn't have to wait more then 15 minutes for her either. It was a quick and easy process. I would have to say the insurance he processed personally since they had problems with uhc in the past. i am glad they looked it up even though i knew it was only a 15$ copay. Well 5 stars from my experience and also my wife. We'll be going back, me in a few years and her next year! Kudos to someone who is friendly and has a nice small business. read more

I just recently discovered Dr. Hayden and his staff. I had unusually bad luck with the last Optometrist I went to was hoping to find one who could really help with getting some glasses/bifocals that really work for me. First off, his staff could not possibly be any more professional - while at the same time they really assist you. Every single member of his staff receives an AAA+++. From the minute you walk in you feel comfortable and are taken for basic first steps right away. Dr. Hayden could not make you feel more comfortable. He is very personable and explains everything while answering any questions you might have. He performed the eye exams and assured me that my new lenses would work for me. He even suggested that l might want to keep my present frames and just get new lenses - no Optometrist had ever done that before. The lenses were ready much earlier than they had thought. I need very thick lenses due to my poor eyesight and am willing to pay more to have a thinner version made so I don't have to wear coke bottle lenses around. His lenses were much less costly than my previous one - and so much thinner and lighter. I could not be more pleased with everything about Hayden Optometric. I will definitely be returning for my next annual exam. read more
