After 5hrs of being at Curl and Co. the look and quality of my hair is beyond unacceptable. You didn't cancel with me, you made a "speech" saying that I really needed my ends trimmed or you couldn't do my hair AFTER that day. I was going to do it but at the last minute opted out because I didn't trust your judgement. I just wanted my two strands so that's what I stayed for. I was never coming back to your salon after that day, and I didn't. I was more than respectful, I even paid you extra because it took you so long. If you know that you can't work with 4c hair, please save people their money and time and not be greedy. If you're unable because of your lack of skill, retain your integrity and just tell the client that you don't know how to do what they're asking of you. I had to wait for months after first contacting her just because of timing and life events but was finally able to make an appointment at her studio. I am almost fully gray (started at 11 yrs) and I live my hair color so e just focused on my hair health. We spoke first, about what my expectations are and what regimen I use. We went over everything, from products to schedules and how I style my hair at home. She started the process and went over everything that she was using, why she was using it and what it would do for my hair. She meticulously styled my hair and cut it into a shape that fit me and while it was a bit overwhelming, the look was already growing on me by the time we finished. The whole time, we talked like we were old friends because she's very personable. This was, by far, one of the best salon experiences I've ever had. She told me what I need to do at home to maintain what she's started in the salon. She emailed the products that she used so that I can recreate the styling process at home. I'm thankful for her time and dedication to the craft. A stylist can only give you the tools to assist you in your journey. You have to put in the effort to maintain so that you're successful at reaching your desired outcome. She has been doing my hair for a number years and when I am forced to go to someone else I am always disappointed. She has done weaves, braids, blow outs and more to my hair. Each style being unique and fabulous. Shay specializes in everything if you ask me. She promotes natural hair care not just a cute style. She educates you on how to take care of your hair, what products to use and not use. Shay helps you figure out what works for you. She always says it's not about they style it's about your hair.
