When I tell you that this is the best haircut I've ever gotten in forty years, I'm not being hyperbolic. I've gone to Ouidad, Devachan, Mona Cut, non-curly salons all over Manhattan and BK. Nothing compares to the attention and care I received at Rezo. Every step in the process was explained and I was asked a lot of questions. In two hours, I was transformed. I visited this Salon back in March or April of this year. My hair was dyed and after the long dry winter, I needed to cut it OFF! I booked a junior stylist, named Julian. He is SUCH a vibe and listened to me and guided me through the process and made sure I was happy with the end result. The salon specializes in curly hair and caters to that and will take time detangling, hydrating, and nurturing your curls. If I could, I would give it zero stars. They specialize in curls, NOT coils. I was referred to this salon by a coworker. My coworker has CURLS, 3B at the most. Hair down to her shoulders and gave them high praises for hydrating and defining curls. I randomly walked in around 12PM and was booked for a 2PM appointment with Banda. I leave and come back. 1:57PM. I checked in with the receptionist. 2:15PM rolls around. I ask the receptionist if the stylist is finishing up with the last client. He says yes and will be with me in 10 minutes. 2:30PM rolls around. Banda the stylist shows up and doesn't even apologize. Just one sentence; "hi, you can follow me". I follow him with regret. He leads me to his chair downstairs and tells me to "sit there". I sit. And he walks away to a sink behind me and starts cleaning the area. I'm still waiting. 2:35PM. He takes a new towel and drys the surrounding area of the wash bowl. THEN he FINALLY talks to me about what service I would like. I say "wash and set". He asks me to remove my ponytail elastic holder. I guess I wasn't moving fast enough (how ironic) because he reaches to put his fingers in my head and I say "I got it. I'm almost done". He immediately leaves as my hair is out and wild. He comes back with a stylist and says "she will be taking care of you now" Without explanation, I immediately leave the chair and walk away. I asked the receptionist for a refund immediately and I told him how I felt uncomfortable with the original stylist trying to push me off to another stylist after he sat me in his seat. If he couldn't do it, he should have never sat me down in a seat for a service he had no intention of giving. Ladies, if you want I to get disrespected and ignored, Rëzo salon is the place. Take heed and take your beautiful coils to a place that appreciates them. And again, I was a referral. Never again. They wasted my time. I did not let them waste my money. read more

Curly cut, too long to manage. I was never "taught" how to manage my curls. Taking my phone and taking pics of products, not exactly helping. Is the Rezo cut just the same for everyone depending on the length of your hair. I was rushed out trying to ask how to manage my curls. Nothing is worse than being cut off mid sentence. Deciding to try again...called in about a week because my cut was too long - told $75 ....BUT if it was a to cut again then $200. The back of my hair is so long my stylist never showed me the back of my hair in a mirror. What a surprise when I washed my hair + product + diffuser. I have never written a bad review in my life, what a disappointment. I walked in personally to the salon and booked an appointment for the next day with a junior stylist at 4 PM. They called me emailed me and text me the next day to come in earlier, I came in an hour earlier and at 4:40 I was still not taken , when I asked what was going on the rude man at the desk said oh he put somebody else in there. He'll be there ready soon. I then watched him Blow Out one of the stylist Hair that works there. It's so happens and I had no choice but get something done and asked for anyone else's to please help me. Cinnamon did my hair and she was kind and did her best to get me out for my party. I've been to Deva and Quidad and the service was spectacular. No place has ever been a bigger disappointment in service .... Not even a 1 star this place deserves 0. I went there all excited drove form Massachusetts to NEWYORK, Out of al the products they have they USE Mielle?? WHICH IS KNOWN FOR BAD THINGS. I told her not to use it and she said ok BUT STILL USED IT???? I dont know what I was expecting letting a girl who dont even know how to put her weave on right to do my hair. Anyway, my hair was perfectly healthy and thick no frizz in sight and she tells me I need to use a mask for the frizz which was 100 dollars extra, I say ok, tell me why this "anti-frizz mask" gave my full head of hair frizz. I also told her no bangs and this girl gave me bangs. After two months of this hair cut my hair is not falling out, I never wear it down anymore because my hair is litterally damaged now. I was really excited to try this place but unfortunately, I left with mixed feelings about Rezo. The initial consultation felt too brief. She asked when my last cut was, what kind of products I used and what I want out of the appt. There was no talk about what type of hair I have (3a,4b, high/low porosity), what types of products work best for my hair, or anything like that. It had been a while since I had a cut so she let me know that she needed to take 2inches off the bottom. I was cool with it, but I did tell her I wanted to keep as much length as possible and I did not want curly bangs. After she finished the cut, she took me over another girl who washed and styled my hair. After styling, I sat under the dryer for a while. I started to get really hot so I held the dryer up a little. After a few minutes, the stylist noticed and took me back over to the other girl for diffusing. After my hair was dry, I was back in the stylist's chair for the final touches/reveal... and this is where my mixed feelings come in. The girl who styled my hair, styled my "face framing layers" as curly bangs... I assume something got lost in translation. Either way, when I got turned around for the reveal, I was looking at curly bangs. The stylist also made a comment about how much my hair "shrunk"... like girl you just cut off 2inches?? ofc it did lol I left unimpressed. The curls looked good and healthy, just not how I style it at all. But what do you do at that point? The salon was closing (I had a 4pm appt) so left and put my hair in a bun until I could wash and style it myself. While everyone at Rezo was super nice and welcoming, the whole process just felt blah to me. It felt kinda rushed, impersonal and nothing like what I saw on social media. The stylist didn't even offer take a photo in their photo area like I saw them doing to other people. She sent me to the front to pay and that was it. I went to this salon the day before a trip to get my clip in extensions blended with my curls. I was referred to Monica, who claimed to be a curly hair expert. She insisted on washing and cutting my natural hair to make it blend, even after I begged her not to cut it too short. Despite her assurances, my hair ended up much shorter than I wanted. Then, after she washed the extension she clipped them in the realized they didn't blend because she never asked if they were real extensions or styled them properly. I left with shorter hair, fried extensions, and had to spend four hours fixing them myself before my flight. I was given a 10% discount but no real apology, and Monica blamed the lack of a consultation. As an "expert," she should've known to ask basic questions about the extensions. This was by far one of the worst experiences I've had at a salon. Waste of money, time and had me hating my hair during my whole vacation. DO NOT COME HERE. read more

Please do not come here!!!! It was the worst experience ive ever had . I was crying In the chair. I booked with Monica for a silk press here's what went wrong: 1. When I arrived there was no one to check me in so there was a delayed start time . Luckily I believe his name was Joseph started on my hair after seeing me waiting. 2. . While washing Monica starts to try to convince me to do a wash and go instead of the silk press service. At first I thought it was a normal concern for the heat but I later realized it is because she overbooked herself. 3. I ended up being there from 1pm-6pm because she kept stopping and restarting my hair. Not once did she say  oh I apologize... instead, she says "oh since we had to wash and detangle ur hair it took longer" (despite the fact that I had called in advance to let them know that my hair was passed my collar bone and asked if I need to come washed already" They had said it was absolutely no problem to wash and detangle. 4. Once hour four hit she recruits help from this younger black girl (I believe an assistant) who had the worst attitude and proceeds to tell me my hair won't remain straight because my ends are dry. She holds up my ends and says look then she winces and starts laughing. 5.. Luckily the man Joseph came to assist and he apologized and said he was sorry that was my experience, the first acknowledgement I had received. He was doing a good job but when she took over again she did these awful looking curls. 6. Keep in mind I'm in the chair crying my eyes out. 7. Monica dusts my ends and they charge me $150 dollars. The rude younger girl explains even if they cut off less than a centimeter it's considered a cut and therefore I would have to pay full price. 8. I go that was an awful service I should receive some sort of discount. The younger girl starts smirking and getting an attitude again. In the end they gave me $20 dollars off. I was so upset I didn't even take a proper look at my hair, I just wanted to leave so badly. 10. I paid $300 dollars for the worst silk press of my entire life. I got it for a wedding and my birthday and now have to wash it out on my birthday cause there's no saving it. Outside it was completely sunny with absolutely no humidity and I attached a photo of the fluffy mess. The photo of me in a pink top is what my hair normally looks like DAY 7 with my silk press. It was very important for me to take my daughter to a salon that would understand her hair, and show me what to do-specific for her hair type. They were incredibly patient with allllll my questions, they made sure my four year old was comfortable, and taught me step-by-step on how to wash, condition, style, preserve, etc. They also recommended great products to refresh her hair in the morning. Shout out to Monica for giving my girl a great cut, but also being available to help with follow up questions. Booked a color appointment with Amber today about 3 weeks ago. I arrived for my appointment exactly at 12 pm on the dot for my appointment and she told me she is running behind by an HOUR. At no point did she or anyone from the salon contact me prior to me coming to tell me she was running late. So I left and said I would return in 1 hour. Then the receptionist calls me 10 minutes later saying that Amber won't be able to honor my appointment and asked if I would like to reschedule. I said absolutely not and how unprofessional this is. If I had cancelled at the last minute, I would have been charged the full $150 fee for the service but they can cancel last minute without any consequences? So they have lost my business at this point and I will no longer refer anyone to her or that salon in the future. I work 7 days a week as a small business owner and I don't have much availability outside of work so this was a huge blow and waste of my time that I will never get back. And the 10% discount I was offered to reschedule was a slap in the face! I don't trust that they will refund me my deposit as requested so I just went ahead and filed a dispute with my credit card and let them eat that fee! I am beyond disgusted by the lack of consideration and professionalism. read more

They they sent me a promotional email offering a 50% discount which convinced me to make a purchase however after scheduling my appointment they called to cancel. Claiming that it's no longer available. It is unethical business practices like this make me never want to come here again I caution others to be wary of their promotions apparently they don't stand by their word it feels like a bait and switch scam luring customers in with a great deal only to take it back after they committed if the discount wasn't valid they should have honored their mistake or at least notified me before processing the order instead they waste my time and left a terrible impression. I had an appointment on 9.20.25 with Alpha. I had never been to a curly hair salon before and was excited to get a consultation about my hair type, products, etc. I sat down and explained to her what I wanted. I had an afro with about 3"-4" of hair on the sides and about 4"-5" on the top. I told her that I wanted to shape my hair up a bit, it was tapered by accident, so I wanted to fix it. I explained that I was struggling to find a product that defined my curls but didn't weight my hair down, she said "so you like your volume" and I said yes. After talking about hair products for a bit she went into the haircut. There was no discussion of my curl pattern (which I believe is 4a), porosity, density, nothing. She proceeds to cut my hair dry, didn't comb it out or blow dry or even mist it. I was already nervous when she started cutting, but I was trusting the process. When I finally looked up, she had cut the back and sides to about half an inch and left the top long. I was pissed at this point because I knew it was all going to have to come off. She then tells me that it will need to be styled in a certain way, etc., but even she knew she messed up because she offered to even it all out. This wasn't what I wanted, and I told her so. She then says that she'll style it but if I don't like it, she'll cut it off. After she "styled" it, it looked awful, so I told her to cut it off. She again didn't wet it, didn't comb it out, with all the product in my hair she just cut it. This is where the really bad experience comes in. I (stupidly) paid for the cut only because I was so pissed and wanted to calm down before I addressed the issue. That was a mistake. I emailed the salon the next day (Sunday) explained the situation in detail, sent pictures and asked for a refund. I didn't hear back from anybody, on Thurs I went by the salon and spoke with the "manager" Angel. He said he would call the owner and try to get my refund as soon as possible. I didn't hear back from him either, so I stopped by on Sat. I spoke with him again and this time I could tell he wasn't trying to help me, so I reached out to the owner on Instagram. After several back and forth messages she tells me that there is nothing she can do because the stylists are independent contractors, and Alpha wasn't going to refund my money, but she would give me a discount on a cut with her. Which is utter BS that she as the owner can't refund my money and on top of that expect me to spend more money! So needless to say, this was a horrible experience, and they clearly don't know how to cut any type of 4 hair or at the very least Alpha doesn't. It is also unbelievable and extremely unprofessional that the owner was unapologetic, and not willing to improve the situation in any meaningful way and how the manager at the salon was so unresponsive. The owner clearly doesn't care if customers leave her salon happy, or if her stylists do a bad job as long as they get paid. read more

I've been looking for a salon/stylist that specializes in cutting curly hair. I booked a Rezo cut with senior stylist Nevila. My hair had no shape, uneven layers, and I have a variety of different curl patterns in different sections of my hair. I am extremely satisfied with my haircut. Nevila listened to my concerns, recommended care and styling tips, and delivered an excellent cut. She has a great eye for shaping curly hair which is not easy to do-- she would have me move my head in different directions, and flip my hair forward and back to make sure the cut was well balanced at all angles. I love that they make you come in with your hair washed and free of product, and any styling so they can see how your natural hair falls in order to give you the proper cut. Nevila shaped and cut my hair dry and then washed it and styled it. She also provided the right amount of pressure when washing! The salon itself is bright and clean. I would say the staff is reserved and neutral-- overall a really good experience. read more

I gave Rezo two chances. The first time the haircut was fine but the service was off. It felt rushed and as if the stylist did not want me there. At the end I went up to the front, paid, bought products and left a tip (over 20%, I know....). About 15 minutes later I get a phone call from the stylist accusing me of not tipping. I had to point out to her that I could not find her and left it in the envelope with the front desk - pretty standard at a NY salon? She didn't even apologize, just abruptly got off the phone. The second time (same stylist - decided to give her a second chance) I left, at first, happy with my cut. About a week later I started to think that one side looked longer than the other but second guessed myself because you know curly hair, sometimes those curls are wonky. But as time went by the lopsidedness stood out more. I went to another salon and they noted (on their own) that the previous cut was all over the place and uneven. Surprising results from a "senior" stylist where I paid $250 for a cut. You also have to really plan for a haircut at Rezo. They require to show up with clean washed hair with no product so they can see your natural curls (also means, at least for me, not pulling it back). For me that meant scheduling an early weekend appointment. Not something you can do after work. The salon also felt no-frills. i wasn't offered a beverage and the seating area is pretty barebones. I found out about Nelly from maybeitswavy on IG and she helped bring my hair around and brought out my waves/curls. I've learned how to take care of my hair and appreciate its natural texture. Her advice and tips made a huge difference! Nelly recommended Nomi when I needed a last minute cut and Nomi did a fantastic job. Both stylists are great with wavy hair, know how to cut and shape it properly and definitely work with you on what you want. I used to get my hair done at the DevaChan Salon in SoHo but had to find another since they closed down. I've had cuts at random places but wanted to go where they specialize in curly hair. I saw this salon on TikTok then checked their reviews on Yelp and they seemed great. I chose one of their mid tier stylists and gave it a try hoping this would become my new Go-to spot. The stylist was polite. She asked what I wanted done and recommended a moisturizing treatment because my hair was dry. I agreed to the extra treatment which added another $100 to my total. She immediately proceeded to cut my hair and the entire cut was maybe 10 minutes long. Super quick and it felt totally rushed but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she's so good she doesn't need to take a lot of time? She then washed and did the treatment. The treatment was actually pretty nice, they use some scented steam and it's very relaxing. I don't know how moisturizing it actually was but it was the best part of the whole experience. After the wash/treatment the stylist parts my hair on the side to begin styling. I told her I use a middle part so she had to adjust what she was doing for that. She never asked how I part my hair so I was hoping she hadn't cut it according to this side part that I don't use. After styling, I sat under the dryer for a bit before she separated my curls and made touch up cuts. My hair looked kinda flat and frizzy. It didn't look good. Definitely not worth the $350 price tag. (Before tip) When I got home, washed my hair and styled it myself I realize my cut is really uneven. One side is totally shorter than the other. Not sure if it was because of the way she parted my hair or it's just a bad cut all together? Either way, I won't be going back. Not ever. I was completely disappointed. read more

This salon is my new happy place. The speaking receptionist (Helen) was friendly and had the most beautiful curls. The energy and vibe is everything here the salon is kept immaculate. I was initially worried about going somewhere new. My curls were damaged dry and frizzy. I can't even remember the last time I cut my hair definitely over a year ago. I got there on time was taken for my dry haircut and the cutting began. Dominique asked what I wanted and got to work. Ashly walked me through the process from washing to diffusing.
