So my last time reviewing Radio was nearly 8 years ago, and I'm not sure how, but the bar hasn't missed a beat during that time. It's a great neighborhood bar with regulars who also welcome newcomers and visitors without making anyone feel out of place. The patio has evolved to still include the famous pool tables, but also have added built in and covered booths surrounding the space. When it's chilly, the patio is still inviting as they put heaters out for you. The bar is dog friendly, so bring your best fur friend with you. The bartenders have come and gone through the years, but they have always been on point with their expert cocktail craft. Their beer selection is top notch. They welcome a Sunday running club nearly every week (4:30 Sundays if you're feeling it and want to meet new friends), and they're the go to after many events like Mid City Gras parade, Surreal Soiree, and other area events. Ok, so if you are looking for a Happy Hour...this bar will keep you happy! Happy Hour every day until 7! $1 off most draft beers, which are already reasonably priced. Great selection of scotch, whiskey, rum, gin, vodka, and beer!! Inside is industrial but warm. Garage doors open up onto an expansive patio. Staff is efficient, helpful, friendly, attentive and expedient. The cocktails also seemed well made. I absolutely loved the Radio Bar. It was perfect for a chill date night. The drinks were delicious and contained the perfect amount of each ingredient (Tequila Sunrise). The staff made sure to stop by our table several times which was located in the main area of the bar. We were able to order additional drinks without leaving our table which was great. I do like Radio Bar because it's not too crowded when I'm there and they allow your dogs to hang out. They have a nice outside area with wooden benches/seating areas. The seats inside are okay, there's not much room. Bathrooms are clean and they have a couple arcade games there like darts for instance. The Radio Bar is such a gem in MidCity. It a hipster, hole-in-the-wall type of vibe. This is one of those bars that is loved by the locals and a lucky stop for tourists. The cocktails are delicious and reasonably priced (meaning you can have 2-3 without a ridiculous check). The imported beer selection is expansive with beers from all around the country. Not to mention the bartenders are super knowledgeable and helpful. Although the bar does sell food there are plenty of options next door or within walking distance. The Radio Bar allows outside food and even furry friends!! The cleanliness, atmosphere, and crowd all make this place the best date night, girls night, or night out with friends away from the college kids spot! read more

Anurag and I have been here once - fortunately when the weather was gorgeous and we were able to enjoy sitting outside while enjoying our drinks. The place is huge and very airy and I really appreciate that. As the night wore on, the place got more and more crowded - still with enough space to move about and have conversations. The drinks were good - I loved the bourbon/ whiskey options and we tried a few. Servers were friendly as was the rest of the crowd. The are pet friendly, so expect many pups hanging out outside as well. They have pool, darts and a couple of other games outside, was fun! read more

COVID really ruins all the fun but don't worry things are somewhat normal! After the saints game this hidden gem is such a vibe. I've been a few times but last night was just so nice I just can't help but rave about it. First dont speed down government street our you'll pass it up! Security is tight JKJK just have your id ready. When you walk in your see they are observing the COVID Protocol everything is spaced out and the booths are marked for social distancing. Inside and out seating is a plus you can also spice up the night and have a fun game of darts if you like. It's dark but no too dark so it makes nice for dates or hanging with friends. I saw on there IG the have happy hour for service industry which is so nice and they all come in and hang out but I wasn't but it's cool the vibe is what keeps me coming. I got a French 75 the bartender asked if we wanted to start a tap and got to making in the shaker time we where waiting another bartender ask where we okay. Was not expecting it to be as packed as it was at 9pm. Usually the crowds arrive 10 or later. This place was so much fun! A wide variety of people were there young and older. The staff was super friendly and helpful. My group sat outside and watched other people play some games. The staff came by very often to make sure we were ok and helped us pick a few drinks. Came here a while back for a friends birthday day party and was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting a smaller bar with a pretentious crowd and weak drinks. I WAS WRONG to assume any of that. The bar opens up to an expanded patio (with a corner bar) and adequate seating through out. The bartenders are as attentive as they can be (the crowd was pretty large) and the selection of brews and spirits are extensive. These bartenders make some great tasting drinks. Great atmosphere. Doesn't smell disgusting like a lot of bars. It's clean, the decor is cool and retro, and it's overall a neat place to chill, listen to music, and have a good drink. The drink prices are very reasonable. I enjoyed a Pimm's cup. They also have a nice beer selection if that's more your style. There are some bar games on the patio. People bring dogs. It's very relaxed. You can sit in a cozy booth or socialize at the long bar. Another cool thing is that you can request songs by using their app. You can add songs from their collection to the playlist, and people can "upvote" them. This is something I wish more places had. We had a good time adding some songs and hanging out listening to them while enjoying our cocktails. Will definitely return! read more

Definitely one of the better bars in Baton Rouge. Very clean and chill with a diverse group of patrons. I very much enjoyed their reasonably priced well drinks along with their cocktail menu which included stuff like a French 75 and margaritas for around $9. The people next to me got some of those cocktails and really enjoyed them. The bartenders were awesome! I especially enjoyed chatting with Angela who made me feel so welcomed. First of all, I think it's important for me to state: I've never been a 'bar' person. What's the point in over-paying to drink in a crowded, smelly, smoky bar when I can drink for much cheaper in the comfort of my own living room with only people (and entertainment) that I like? But the Radio Bar has finally given this homebody a place to "go out" to. There's no smoking in the bar itself, which is a BIG plus for me. The atmosphere is relaxed, comfortable, but not divey. The staff is super friendly! And the crowd is (generally) refreshingly bro-free. I can go in at 7ish with a group of close friends, grab a booth, and hang out - we've even brought in food and games before, it's all cool at the Radio Bar! The signature trait of the Radio Bar is the smartphone radio app that allows you to tap into their music selection (for free!) and vote for your favorite songs. The music selection is limited, but for the most part, very good! Even the music I don't like is at least ignorable, which can't be said for a lot of public spaces these days :/ Drink-wise, I would say their selection is average to good....but then again, I tend to only order my same two or three favorite regardless of where I go, so I can't say I have the greatest frame of reference there. This is my go to bar. I love it. They have an interactive radio set up so the customers can log into an app called remote on your phone where you can suggest songs to be played in the bar. The application ranks songs based on a ranking system where others vote. The more votes the song gets the sooner your song will play. Pretty cool if you ask me. Great neighborhood bar. The building used to be a car garage, and the owners managed to make that charming--huge garage doors that open to the patio, industrial style lighting, etc. There's almost always a food truck or cart in the parking lot. This bar quickly turned into my Old Faithful. Go when the weather is nice and sit on the patio. Download the remote app on your smartphone and vote for what songs you want to hear (mostly indie music). There's a ping-pong table on the patio and a shuffle board inside. The cocktail specialties aren't always great, but they're fun to try if you have some extra dollars. If you can manage drinking a bloody mary after 4:00 in the afternoon, order one from Olga--she deserves an award for those masterpieces. read more

Nice bar in the heart of Mid City. What makes me really enjoy this bar is the fact that there is NO smoking. I love that I can go out to get a drink and not go home smelling like I have a pack a day habit. Radio Bar is what I would consider my neighborhood bar. It's also what I would consider one of the best neighborhood bars around, because it has something for everyone. If you like cheap beer, they have it (although Pabst Blue Ribbon just went up fifty cents). If you like craft beer, they have some great locals on tap and nationals in bottle. If you like cocktails, they have a menu of classics and another that rotates seasonally, and they will happily make pretty much whatever you want if they have the ingredients and you tell them how. If you like food, they welcome tasty food trucks on the weekends and have even been known to serve people for free on Sundays. If you like competition, there's darts, table tennis, and shuffleboard (not to mention Bar Olympics in the summer). If you like music, you can select your own playlist from an iPhone with the Remote app just by joining their wifi network. If you're somehow afraid of non-fratty college students, grad students, or other people wearing glasses... I guess go to Phil Brady's instead, they'll be glad to have you. So why four stars? Really just because of the relatively small music collection that doesn't often grow or change. That can be a positive for some people who like stability, but I would love to be surprised with something new or, for example, something more than When Doves Cry, which is one of only two Prince songs on the playlist and was therefore played approximately seven trillion times the week he died. Radio Bar has a lot of things you want from a bar - good beer list, specialty cocktails, indoor and outdoor seating, and extra outdoor bar open on busy night - but every time I'm there I always just wish I would have driven down to NOLA for the weekend. With so many Baton Rouge uber hipster with nothing to really be proud of packed into one bar, I'm always slightly annoyed with the crowd. If I see one more dork with neon sunglasses (at night) wearing a shirt they bought from Urban Outfitter that says "Brooklyn" on it, I might just have to slap them. This place really just manages to make me homesick for New Orleans, or make me want to jump on a plane to hang out with my friends who actually live in Brooklyn, not Baton Rouge wannabes. But, where else are you going to go in Baton Rouge? All the bars around campus only cater to undergrads, so that rules them out. If they city had a smoking ban, I'd be going to neighborhood dive bars more than I'd be going to Radio Bar. Also, they allow dogs, so that's cool. However, seeing hipsters give their dogs beer instead of water also drives me crazy. Most weekend nights, it's too packed to bring a dog. I really want to like Radio Bar, but the crowd is just so obnoxious I'm never really enjoying myself when I'm here. If you're not a Baton Rouge native and come from a city with a good bar scene, I recommend going on a weekday evening when the crowd is a little older and more chill to avoid going insane. read more
