My friends know that I don't drink much at all, but when I do, I'll make sure that I'll be munching and sampling now. 1. Grilled cheese & tomato soup bisque. (Fav) 2. Texas burger. 3. Boutine fries. 4. Spinach & artichoke dip. #LambChopOnTheGeaux #thelostcove #batonrougela #foodie #drinks

Got the Texas burger and it was the best burger that I've had in a long time. Cooked perfectly and the jalapeños were fresh sautéed. Highly recommend this place

    Hamburger Steak Frites, mmmmm!

Lost Cove is the place to go. Chill, warm atmosphere, good bar food and Great drinks! It never lets us down. Inside and outside seating, great for couples or groups.

I love this spot and glad it's open in 2023! Very large selection of liquor. Small bites and sandwiches. Great cocktails. Tables, booths, couches. Chill. It's not visible when driving by on Essen but just turn by the Oil change place.

*YAY MY 100TH REVIEW* LOVE this place!! I stumbled on this place on a Friday, just in time for happy hour. I was quickly greeted by the bartender and given the menus. They have a very small food menu. It's one page with small plates, big plates, and side dishes. They have an extensive cocktails menu with all kinds of wines and whiskeys, really anything your heart could desire. For drinks, I only ordered off the hh menu so I got the $7 Moscow mule, old fashioned, and French 75. They were all such good classic drinks. They were also pretty strong so I don't think I could do more than two at time. Additionally, I tried several hh food items! My boyfriend was obsessed with the felony burger that the second time we went two days later, he got it again. So that tells you how good that was. The boutine fries were so flavorful. It was a little salty from the au jus, but the boudin balls were spicy and the cheese curds were soft and chewy. It all made for a fabulous dish. The felony fries were good also! Oh so cheesy. The Cuban sliders were good but they didn't stand out like the other dishes. All in all, the food, drinks, and service is great! The ambiance of this place is cool and non pretentious. I can't wait to come back and try more things. I've been having my eyes on that chicken and waffles plate... BTW happy hours are from 4-7 daily and Louis is a great bartender.

    Large bar selection.

So this place is back. Nice place to have a drink after work or take a date. The menu for food is limited but the drink selection is pretty good. The place is more on the pricey side but you can definitely take your time with your drink because they are crazy strong. They have several takes on the Old Fashioned and several mezcal options. I recommend the smoke on the water. They offer special food during happy hour that's not available during regular hours. Go by and give them a try.

Love Lost Cove! The exterior doesn't reflect what's inside. When you walk in head to the bar order up what ya want and then seat yourself. You can't go wrong with the Boutine Fries and I haven't had a cocktail from LC that I didn't like.

    * not crowded on a friday night * my friends and i stumbled upon the lost cove when we were trying to go to olive or twist one night, but couldn't get a table. the lost cove is super close by, so we decided to give it a shot! SERVICE: there's no one greeting you at the door, or even any employee saying hi when you walk in, so we just found a table and sat ourselves. the bartender was nice and made our drinks well and fairly quickly, considering it was just one person PERSEPHONE'S KISS: i got the persephone's kiss cocktail and i really liked it! the drinks are pretty strong here, which i think is great, because you're really getting your money's worth. it also makes one drink last pretty long, since you can sip on it throughout the night AMBIANCE: the inside is pretty nice, with wood accents and even a couch in the back. there are plenty of tables and booths for people to sit down at. when my friends and i went on a friday night, there were only 2 other groups of people in the whole place - so there were plenty of open tables and booths to sit at i didn't try any of their food, so i would definitely be willing to go back to the lost cove to try some of their bar snacks or burgers! their food menu isn't big at all, but it's enough if you're just looking for a simple meal or small snack. and the lost cove not being crowded at all is a huge plus if you're just looking for a place to hang or catch up with friends

I've gotten food from here a couple of times during the pandemic and I've been here once before for a Yelp event! The food is so so good like think modern bar food with a southern twist. I'm personally a huge fan of the boudin fries with fried cheese curd and gravy--such a savory and rich option... I'd honestly get it as my entree if it wasn't frowned upon lol. The burger is also a very solid option. I'd pass on the empanada. For the price, The Lost Cove delivers on portion and flavor! I did subtract one star because there have been 2 times where my to go order was straight up missing items I paid for, but hey the food is still good and I'll be back.

This is one of the best bars in town! Their revamped food menu is phenomenal. Can't go wrong with the Boutine Fries, a take on Poutine but this one has slow roasted pork and fried boudin. They make a fantastic burger as well. Their specials are killer too! I tried their tomato stew last Saturday and was very happy with it. Can't mention the Lost Cove without talking about their selection either. They have one of the most extensive whiskey collections in the city. Their cocktail menu is top notch and they have a solid beer menu as well. You can't go wrong with the Lost Cove!

A whiskey cocktail. Original from the bartender.
    Austin D.

This place has the best whiskey selection and the best cocktails in Baton Rouge. I've been a fan of the Cove for a long time. If you are into whiskey or cocktails, you need to make a stop.

First time here and won't be my last. Varied cocktail menu that changes seasonally . Today's visit was the New Orleans Mule (smooth with a kick) and the Irish Afternoon (citrusy and refreshing). They have TV's to watch your favorite sports teams as well.

Beer Garden Review 2…read more Hospitality isn't complicated. It's making people feel like guests instead of table numbers. And Mid City Beer Garden didn't skip that part. In fact, the way we were treated says more about the character of this place than the food ever could. I use a cane, so I now have three legs--well, four if you count my beautiful husband! After our HVAC decided to abandon us in the middle of this heat wave, we figured the best way to beat the temperature was to escape to Mid City Beer Garden in Baton Rouge for some cold drinks, good food, and hopefully a little relief. When we walked in, we were warmly greeted. I immediately noticed the high seating and explained my situation, asking if a booth was available. The beautiful young lady greeter checked and told us it would be about a 15-minute wait. After just escaping our sweltering house, we weren't sure we wanted to wait that long. Then the handsome young gentleman greeter said, "Let me make sure." About five minutes later, he came back with the best news: "We have a booth for you!" That small gesture meant a lot. They didn't simply tell us to wait--they took the time to find a comfortable seating option for me. We immediately felt welcomed and appreciated. We visited in the evening, and the atmosphere was exactly what we needed. The evening vibe was spot-on--industrial meets modern, softened by greenery, warm lighting, string lights, and neon. Think laid-back European beer garden, but effortlessly cool. At night, the place really came alive without losing that cozy, inviting feel. Beer lovers, don't skip the main bar. The custom tap wall is a total vibe, with a solid lineup of beers and plenty of personality. Our waitress continued that same level of hospitality. She was attentive, friendly, and provided that kind of service where the smile feels genuine rather than part of the uniform. But then came the moment that really impressed me. I ordered a 10 oz. Sapporo, but somehow received a 16 oz. I didn't even notice the difference. When we were getting ready to pay, our waitress came over and told us about the blunder-- noting we would only be charged for the 10 oz. Now THAT is honesty. We've been to establishments where billing mistakes seem to mysteriously work in the restaurant's favor. So having someone actually point out an error that benefited us--and make sure we weren't overcharged--was refreshing. Speaking of the food... We ordered the shrimp po'boy. It certainly looked loaded with shrimp, but was skimpy and unfortunately, it fell short for us. The shrimp was flavorful, but overcooked. The bread was thick and dense, so I eventually found myself eating only the shrimp and leaving the rest of the sandwich behind. The fries were tasty, but they didn't have that hot, fresh-out-of-the-oil crispiness we were hoping for, so we only ate a few. Would I order the shrimp po'boy again? Probably not. I'm only speaking for the two people at our table--and we're not professional food critics, just two hungry people with opinions! Now, the real highlight of our visit... We met the most beautiful soul. My husband suddenly says, "Look, there's a really tall young man sitting behind you." I turned around, stood up, and said, "My husband said you're really tall. Can I take a picture with you?" He was so sweet and gracious and took a picture with me. And let me tell you--that absolutely made my night! I told him he was beautiful, and he responded, "You are beautiful too!" I disagreed with him, of course. He looked at me and said, "No, ma'am. You are beautiful." Well... alright then! You win. Naturally, I had questions. I asked if he played basketball. "Yes, for Southern University." I asked his jersey number. "Number 22." I told him, "Well, I'm coming to see you play!" And that young man gave me one of the biggest, brightest smiles I've ever seen on a basketball player. So, y'all... if you get out to Southern University and A&M College this season, go show #22 some love and cheer him on. Who knows? We might be looking at a future NBA champion! We had a wonderful evening at Mid City Beer Garden. Eventually, we went back home to a house that had finally cooled down and enjoyed the rest of our evening loving on each other. Thank you, Mid City Beer Garden, for giving us a place to escape the heat, relax, laugh, eat, drink, and make a memory. And most of all... Thank you, Number 22, for honoring an old lady's wishes. Some nights are about the food. Some nights are about the atmosphere. And some nights, you just happen to meet a beautiful souls who makes the whole evening unforgettable.
