Sat at the bar and enjoyed some delicious, fresh oysters, a great bowl of gumbo and a really good poboy. Staff was great, food was spot on and the atmosphere was perfect. read more

The service was amazing & very attentive! The only thing I didn't like is that they only accept cash! The place is big and roomy inside with pool tables but the place does need a good cleaning! It's definitely a dive bar! We had so much fun here listening to live music. I didn't eat but my husband had the loaded fries and they must've been good because he ate the whole plate of them! read more

Decent little dive bar with good music on certain nights. Cash only bar which isn't bad since there is an atm. Two pool tables as well so you can have a nice time here if you're with your friends. Bartenders aren't very nice but that's fine. read more

Our first trip to Phil's came as a result of their Mystery Dinner night. I was so excited! I love these things and I'm new to town so I thought...two birds....get dinner & enjoy an evenging, maybe meet some folks to hang out with for a night. Part of that came true. Let's start with the good...the bartender. She hustles, she's polite, does a good pour. There were a couple other people behind the bar on occasion but all they did was get in her way and they didn't do anything so they might have been owners or regulars. The place is your typical bar - dim lighting, scuffed floors and walls, great atmosphere for drinking when you don't want to be bothered or just want to drink and hang with friends. There are pool tables and a platform for live music and I'll check back to see who's playing on occasion. Parking was sufficient I don't think you'd have problems. Seating, however, was not up for the night or they oversold the event. Our crowd was mixed in age and group size. No one got rowdy and I even heard someone cut off a patron before he got rowdy so that impressed me. The not so good...they have no clue how to run a mystery night. Maybe we over-estimated the capability of a bar to run a mystery night. The guy reading the cast/clues had never seen the sheet before. He stumbled over 75% of the words and you couldn't understand a single thing anyone said because of the music in the background until someone finally clued in it was a problem and turned it off. Few there had any interest in participating and if they did, they didn't know what to do. Because they'd oversold the event and didn't plan accordinginly, there wasn't room to mix and mingle which is required. While the food was decent, it wasn't worth the price of admission. Two of the four dishes were empty by the time we made it to the food. Plus it didn't even come with non-alcoholic drinks. Those were extra. It was a real 50-50 experience. I'd probably go back if I knew the band playing or for $1 burger night which I heard good things about. I wouldn't go back for mystery dinner night. read more

Went about 2 months ago. Never been a fan but some friends from out of town wanted to try. Arrived about 11:40 pm to find there was a $10 cover per. I hate cover charges, especially $10 for an unknown garage band. Some lady just screaming into the microphone. Terrible. Then to top it off they stopped playing before midnight. So, $50 in cover for about 15 minutes of painful garbage. Went out to the doorman demanding a refund. Nope! Only accept cash so can't dispute it. Also bartender lady was rude also when complaining about the highly unethical cover charge. Told her we would leave bad reviews. She said she highly recommended that we do. Ok, so now no tip for you and we're out never to return again. I knew better, but visitors did not. Now they know to avoid as well. read more

The owner (I think his name is Joe) is hostile and rude. The bartenders don't know pour sizes or prices. The kitchen is in need of a serious health inspection. Don't eat their food. Expect to be bombarded with grown men who act like they've never seen a woman before. You'll be greeted by a plethora of Trump bumper stickers the moment you park (on the busiest street in the area, where half the road is under construction and closed off - so good luck). The only reason this place is still standing is because 90% of the patrons have been regulars for the past 100 years. Next gen will have nothing to do with it. read more

I went there for lunch today with my wife, The sever told us about the specials and they all had eggplant but we ate eggplant last night. I ordered a plain burger medium. It came well done, our server saw that I was not eating and came and looked. The manager offered to re cook or po kick something else I said no thanks. A few minutes later the manger came back with the eggplant shrimp soup and ask me to try it so I did it was good. Worth ordering. When I ask for our check we were told no charge, wow I was flabbergasted. Thank you Phils. Worth t hy e $20 tip in customer service. I will be back. read more

Been to this bar a few times before, came this time to try the $1 burger Monday night special. For a buck this is a decent sized burger that fries can be added for $2.50 or a beer for $2.00 so for anyone on a budget this is a great spot. It's an old dark Irish bar with lots of personality and attentive bartenders. There are pool tables and a stage for featured bands on select nights. The only think that hits you like a ton of bricks is the cigarette smoke. Being a non-smoker and a hater of the smell of cigarette smoke this was a small issue for me, but I sucked it up (set far away from the group of smokers) and enjoyed a burger and some drinks. read more

We went to Phil Bradys when they hosted a showing of The Yank for the Irish Film Festival. The place was crowded, but the staff made sure everyone who wanted to see the movie got a seat. The bar staff was great and made sure everyone got drinks and a chance to order $1 burger before the movie started. $1 burgers came with cheese topped with tomatoes, lettuce, onions and pickles. Fries were $3, so we decided to pass on those. The burger was moist, well seasoned, and didn't taste like a $1 bar burger. We will be back for those again. The only negative was that the bar does allow smoking which gave the place that stale smoke bar smell which is the reason for 4 stars. SO and I each had two drinks and a burger, and our bar tab was only $19! We will definitely be coming back. read more

Not impressed so far. Came to see a band play Boggy Long, and arrived at 8:19. Wasn't sure if we would stay because the smoke was soooooo bad!!!! However we spotted a sign non smoking 8:30 to close, hmm almost 8:45 as the bartender walks by smoking!!!!! I ask no smoking after 8:30??? She replies I am almost done with mine and I'm about ready to pick up ash trays! Wow her rules? Or establishment ? Not sure if I ever would recommend. Paid 10.00 for cover for the band that was supposed to start at 9. At 9:16 we asked when does the band start? Bartender says 9:30 or 10:00 whenever and walks away with attitude. We get up leave and talk to the bouncer outside and ask about the band? He says yeah they had a problem and needed to a get drummer last minute. Refunded our money and was very polite. I come here on Thursdays for blues night, people here are awesome. Love this place. Never had a chance to try $1 burgers here but I bet it's good. What a great blues bar! If you are in to good old fashioned blues, this is the place. The Blues Jams there are amazing, there will be several old musicians mixed with younger ones, just playing some amazing tunes. The bar is very rustic and old fashioned, with a mixed crowd. Perfect atmosphere for the blues. Just bring some cigars and some friends, play some pool, and chill back to the jams. read more

Phil Brady's is a Baton Rouge institution, and one of the best music venues in the state!

Excellent live music and cheap prices. Only downfall is that smoking is allowed except on Friday and Saturday nights. As a nonsmoker, it was kinda disappointing since everything else about the place was awesome. read more
