Love the updates @ Hayward BART! This station used to be so overrun by birds & birdpoo that it was gross and unsightly. recently BART has revamped with some wonderful cleaning and new paint! #thankyou

One of the worst stations on the line given its size. Disgusting conditions and invisible staffing. I hate this being my nearest option for getting on the line. Park and ride is a very bad idea here too. Windows of my empty car got smashed in after my trying it for just a week. I'm not uploading pictures of people but I am uploading some of the typical filth.

    All aboard!

I guess a review on Yelp is to talk about your experience as it pertains to the location at which you are patronizing. I guess that makes me somewhat of a reporter- a myriad of sorts where I can focus on several experiences of just a main one with all it's intricate parts in place. After reading reviews over the years one can shape and define the experiences for the followers to interpret one main theme therefore leaving some of the details behind or forgotten. This photo I posted is one I wish could.l be forgotten. Who the heck allows a persons freedom to be destined based on perception. Factually, we all our guilty of this, for this is built on the fabric in which we were taught since birth. We pre-judge and pre- evaluate a person by what we think about ourselves. It's actually quite harsh. Many of us may think well there are rules that we must follow if we are to parade in public on transportation provided by government entities. Often however, we forget that we are the government- and how these things affect us as individuals effects us collectively as well. Here in Hayward on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon the struggle continues for some of us. Some of us Bart riders can be profiled into perpetrators of sorts. But isn't everyone? "He who is without ... throw the first stone..." Maybe I am ranting a bit. Maybe I am sensitive to skin tone arrest or stop and search procedures based on the law, the government and finally the people. But it's "we" not he. We need to change some things. It's the 21st century and we still police one another like fear is a relevancy. But it's not, neither are mistakes, or youth or black or white- the day we learn that it just is, and we take back our rightful place on this planet. Our expectations will adjust for the better and people of all sizes colors and shapes will ultimately be free again.

It's hard to rate EVERY BART station on the line. Especially hard to rate my home station, Hayward. I love BART. I have other reviews on stations and the EZ Pass. BART takes me everywhere I want to go. Well, almost everywhere. Are the agents nice. Not particularly? Are they nice at any other station? No. Have the agents given me breaks when my tickets didn't work? Yes, Is it so clean I can eat off the floor? No, but neither are any of the other stations. Are there many services available? No. Except for the guy outside with a food cart who sells everything from donuts to hot dogs to cigarettes. The station is not very busy and two lines go through, one to the city and one which moves from Richmond to Fremont. I can go almost anywhere without transferring. I rented my house with the proximity to this station in mind. It takes me where I want to go and I will stand by it until the end.

Super nice workers! Well, worker*. It was my first time using the Bart and a worker there went through the entire process of this Bart-ness: getting the ticket to even showing me where to go to get on the Bart. So so kind of him :) The inside of the car http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=5U8wX_Ywp-62ol3chdtPeQ&userid=x2kIaq8x6Q2I6uJxmVg4cA was fairly clean and pretty spacious in the late morning. However, it does get crowded during peak hours: 4-6pm. Other than that, parking is free here. It was confusing to find, but just park in the parking structure! Also, the photographer in me was going ADD here, as well as the other Bart stations I went to. I swear I'm gonna spend a few hours devoted to taking pictures there when I get a camera some day :)

Today, I still like stopping here whenever I visit the city. It's not cheap riding from San Jose/Milpitas to this station $10 one way now. I can still remember old times when riding only cost a few bucks. Powell BART station connects riders to all sorts of trains/muni destinations. Public restrooms are always available and staffs do their jobs well. You will see lots of foreign visitors and often hear people speaking in French, Spanish, German, etc. This is one of San Francisco's best stop. It's unfortunate that SF Westfield Shopping Center lost its businesses due to high crimes, high cost of doing business here, and other city regulations. This BART station really had it all years ago, especially when it was easily accessible after stopping here and walking distance to the food court and retail stores. I think Powell Station vibes are still positive for commuters. Advertisements are everywhere. This BART station still feels safe in public and it does feel like home of San Francisco center. I'm still glad that their tunnels and walkways are spacious and can accommodate major transportation for event days. JPMorgan Chase ads are highly visible.

Recently I had to use this BART station and was very disappointed. Same old dirty and dusty station, unhoused and mentally sick people are all around. Still feels unsafe and unhealthy. Though I work only a couple blocks away, I was not aware of this station especially since I drive to work daily. Recently, while both my brother's and my vehicle were being serviced, I needed to get to my office after doing some work errands and tasks in Chinatown. This was my perfect opportunity to try this mode of transportation. I caught the train from Chinatown and arrived here in less than ten minutes. It is a bit of a walk even with the escalators that I used. There are elevators available for those who prefer or need them (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=o0jpTcz1IH4oHBq4iX3rdQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). About ten minutes later, I was sitting at my office desk catching up on my work. It's sad to see the low ridership on this or perhaps I rode it on a non-peak time. Regardless, I hope that more locals and visitors take advantage of this which would likely ease the traffic gridlock that often frustrates people in the Chinatown and SOMA neighborhoods.
