Would give NEGATIVE 5 stars if I could. I have been a patient here for a few years just out of location convenience. I rarely get sick so that's why I stuck with this place. Every time I call to get labs done or just anything, the doctor never calls back in the 24-48 hours frame. After being on hold forever you have to consistently follow up to hear back. Your medication will be submitted to the pharmacy w/o anyone notifying you. Forget about getting an appointment in a descent time frame, no matter how much of an emergency it is it'll be at least 3+ months!! Today was the final straw. I tested Covid+ yesterday. This morning I called to get a prescription for Paxlovid I didn't want to see a doctor I know what I needed. Well after talking to nurse on phone for about 15mins she insist that I come in same day so they can check my lungs. I don't have the energy but came. Once I get here and check in (9:50) for 10am appointment the receptionist comes to my seat at 10:01 and asks if I would like to do a phone appointment. NO I'm already here! The amount of strength that it took me to get here why would I leave. She said I'll let the doctor know that it's patient preference. I said IT'S NOT MY PREFERENCE THE NURSE ON THE PHONE SAID I NEEDED TO COME IN! About 5 mins later a nurse comes to me and asks "am I sure that I don't want to do a phone appointment". Then asks me when did I test positive. Are you kidding me. I didn't want to leave my house and you guys continuously asking me if I can do a phone appointment?! So you want me to leave then go home and wait for a call!! Very inconsiderate!! Shouldn't all of this info be in the notes I was literally on the phone for 15-20mins before this appointment was made. So now I'm the back room and the nurse tells me she'll see what Dr is available to see me. I said well they said Dr. Zang and she said well it depends if she's feeling well. I said why would she be here at work if she's not feeling well?! She's like well we will see what doctor is available I'm not saying that she doesn't feel well. Then what are you saying? 10:50 the doctor comes in stands at the door and says you qualify for the Paxlovid that you requested. I said I know I do I work in the medical field I'm very familiar. Why did I need to come here and to have two different people try to convince me to take a telephone appointment after already being here? is Very unprofessional and inconsiderate!! She's like I don't know why because we usually don't have people come. I said I've been waiting an hour for nothing. I said don't you want to listen to my breathing and she said no I checked your vitals you are fine!! If you are looking for a quality clinic with quality doctors STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! No stars given if that was an option! This provider is ridiculous! They've stated they'd accept "NEW PATIENT" so I've went ahead & chose them as the provider for my grandchild! But when I've contacted them for an appointment, I was told that they don't have any appointments for new comers! I've asked them how else could I make an appointment & was told to try to call back or go elsewhere! But my only problem is that they are the ones listed as my grandchild's provider on the Alameda Alliance card! You can't just go wherever you'd like! negative stars, my primary care doesn't have womens' health services so she had to refer me out and I had requested to this place cause I saw one of the Drs that work here is good and she seems like a kind, genuine person, but after trying to get admitted here for 2-3 months because they kept saying they didn't receive my referral and kept transferring back and forth to different depts, only to find out there is no such Dr, nobody knows the name or even heard of her. Finally, when they sorted out my referral they tell me their earliest appt is 2 mos out. It's pretty insane and then when I do lab test, no one follows up with me, I had to keep calling and it's not even a follow up with the Dr that has been seeing me. I saw like 3-4 different Drs and one Dr scared me when she recommended me to do a biopsy. The Dr that I have been seeing and want to see I can never get an appt with her. She never has any availability. I can only get a phone appt and that is still 2 months out. This place is a joke. I called right when I opened and it takes an hour to get anyone, and then only to be told that there is no availability, and the call center rep said she is checking 3 months out. I want to like file complaint to the county or something to get this place shut down. It's not right what they are doing. People's health shouldn't be played around like that and should be taken seriously. read more

Steven Chen, MD is my new found PCP. His bedside manner made me feel really at ease. I appreciated that they had already pulled all of my records from the other county where I had my surgery. So I basically didn't have to tell that story again.. for the 100th time. He gave me a physical , ordered some labwork; gave him a brief history of myself and I was done. The only downfall was the amount of time I waited to be seen while in the room. I waited for about 30 mins in there. read more

My mom, she's 95,she fell and broke her femur bone,after the surgery, we requested to send her to Hayward wellness center for Physical therapy and Occupational therapy,we hear they've the best PT and OT trainers,skills nurses and CNA,as well as the friendly staff,no doubt,in a very short time of treatment,my Mom recovers extremely well,in 2 weeks,she is getting out of bed and starts trying to walk with Walkers ,and in 4 weeks she recovered 90% of her strength back ,able handle her daily routine by herself and get discharge going home, we are so grateful to make a right decision to send her here, thanks for all the people who works at this facility, you are the best. We regularly visit this location we found this center very clean with professional staff specially the Doctors are awesome the have good attitude and help full . The information desk staff and the lab technicians are amazing in mean while I have to tell a little bit about registration staff they're kind enough they will have translations services for most of language we recommend to everyone. The absolute worst care I have received at any medical office, ever. If you are going to Hayward Wellness because you are low income, then it is an ok option. If you're going with insurance or Medi-Cal, whatever you do, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I am in disbelief that a place like this can still be functioning. Some of the staff are friendly. The facility is clean and has a lot of attractions (in-house PAP smears and bloodwork, eye exams, etc.) and I've never been a person that minds waiting. I understand doctors are busy people. But Hayward Wellness is so bad it's comical. I wouldn't believe it unless I'd experienced it myself. Their touch-tone system on the phone has been down for over a month. No one EVER answers the phone there. Not records department, not an advice nurse, not an appointment clerk. You HAVE to wait through the touch-tone system every time to be directed to a call center to route you back to Hayward Wellness. Not that it matters, because you won't have your call answered. If you're lucky enough for the voicemail inbox to be full you might be able to receive a message. Not that that matters either, because no one is going to return your call. If you need paperwork, a referral, an authorization, you're just plain out of luck if you can't get to the office. Hope you don't mind waiting months for it to be sorted through your insurance's complaints department. You will wait a month and then some for a general appointment. Even if it's crucial. The doctors are on a tight schedule and will push you out the door before you're even done discussing your issues. Some of them will listen but most will not. Like many things in the bay, this place is too many people, not enough resources. Whoever is running this place is doing an absolutely abysmal job. read more

I have been a patient at the Hayward Clinic for a little over a year, and I must say the staff is friendly, the clinic is clean, and that's about the only thing this clinic has down right! but the wait times could be the down fall to this place. Twice I had to wait almost an hour to be seen. Also when making an appointment for this location on the phone, easy 30 to 60 minute wait or no answer at all. We all know that some of the folks on the other line refuse to pick up right away. It does not take an hour to schedule a person, either they are super short staff or lack the responsibility of answering the phone in a timely manner. All in all, I think is time to find a new doctor, mine is only available 3 days out of the week, and sometimes booked for months before I can be seen. The doctors are great but the staff is a nightmare. I have required routine blood work every month for 2 years and 75% of the time there is an issue the lab being closed. Fast food establishments professionally open and close with better consistency. So many times, I've heard the lab is running late this morning, the lab took and early lunch or the lab is closed until tomorrow. Now the lab techs are nice and they used to provide me with the best times to arrive, but there's always an issue. I was the first patient in line this morning. I just had surgery hernia surgery 4 days ago and they expect me to wait around for an hour or two until someone opens the lab. Security says "LAB IS CLOSED UNTIL 9" Sometimes, "LAB IS CLOSED UNTIL TOMORROW." I got a JP bulb and and a large incision up my abdomen with numerous stitches and I am in extreme pain and the only person that addresses me is the security guard. NEVER AGAIN. Now I need to inform my specialists that I cannot obtain lab results AGAIN during my recovery under this staff. The two females at the front have the worst attitude and act like you just a bother. You can smile and be positive as possible and it won't help. The security guard does his best and seems helpful, but he's a security guard, not a medical staff. You cannot call and speak with anyone to tell you if the lab is in fact closed or not and if they do have a phone number to check, they will not supply it. There is no website or online portal to inform you if the lab is open or not. And I've heard other patients upset of this issue previously so I'm not the only one. If this had happened once or twice, I can understand circumstances of life, but I'm telling you I've walked in there at least 10-15 times to be turned away, morning, noon and afternoon. It's a crap shoot and why would anyone want to put their health under such unstable circumstances. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. read more

This is probably the worst clinic I have ever been to. I have had so much trouble getting appointments and being seen on time. Just about everyone who works there has a dismissive attitude from the appointment clerks to MAs to the physicians. I have to wait 2+ hour for each appointment I make and when I am seen I feel like nothing was done about the issues I came in with. Last time I had an appointment was a couple weeks ago at 9:20 am and wasn't seen until 10:40 by the physician. I had to get a blood draw and injection scheduled and it was already 11:40 when neither happened and I was told I had to come back at 1pm because they are going on a break. Not sure how they expect me to dedicate 4/5 hours for an appointment time. I will never come back to this clinic as I dont think anyone really cares about the patients here. read more

I first came her a year and half ago, and really liked my doctor. I felt respected and important. In the past 9 months this place has seem to sink and lacks any customer service. You leave a message, no one calls back, you get their call center and the only appointments available are months away. They dont make optometry appt but you gotta leave a message and hope someone calls back. Last time i saw my Dr. She referred me to acupuncture, haha literally 9months later i get a call asking if i was still interested wtf... i laughed a her and said is this a joke. The appointment clerk DO NOT know how to tell the patient to hold the line politely, they just put the phone on hold and then you're on HOLD for a very long time. That's not acceptable. Quit your job if you don't know how to do it right. Training is crucial and if they cannot be nice on the phone, then they need to venture into looking for another job that fits them. read more

I like it here!! I come here for my prenatal care and the nurses and doctors are SUPER attentive and sweet. They do care and always ask me questions to make sure that I'm ok. I came from a different clinic before I came here and I am so happy I switched. My kids also receive care here for their checkups and they're are happy with the services offered. We don't wait long to be seen even when the clinic is full. They always try to accommodate you even if your late for your appointment, which is nice because other clinics would brush you off and tell you to reschedule. The atmosphere here is very bright and cheerful, you're always welcome by the front desk with a smile. Staff do seem concern about your health and visit so I appreciate that very much. Keep up the great work. Even though you have to wait a month for an appointment there is a reason why, because your practice is busy and there is a reason why it's busy. Patients enjoy their services here and that's why you have to wait for an appointment. If you want same day clinic you can call the appointment center and they will make a same day appointment for you at Highland Hospital and no you don't have to wait long to be seen by a doctor!!! read more

Since September of this year, they have been canceling and rescheduling my appointments without any notifications. Wasted me entire time waiting for a doctor that probably doesnt even exist since I have never seen this Dr. May Chaw Shein (doctors that can barely speak English and doesnt let you speak while on the phone). I had one phone appointment and of course, she called 15 to 20 minutes late. I was. Hardly able to understand her as she tried to rush through the appointment. It seemed like those fake insurance scams where the scammer is barely understandable and had difficulty answering questions when you had them. Everytime I would show up the welness center, it's either empty or there is no doctor on site. Their either sick, on vacation or unexpectedly they dont work that day or week. The security guards are over 70 years old and overweight... yeah.... so much for security and safety for their site lol. What a joke of a place. I have never had a missed call from them or a voice message stating any updates regarding my appointments. Go with KAISER! I had them before and never had a problem with a doctor not showing up multiple times or canceling appointments without notifying me. By the way, front desk management definitely needs more things to do. For example, call patients when their appointments are canceled or call to confirm if their going to show up like other REAL doctor offices. My 4 months old daughter had immunization appt but they said her insurance was not active. One of the financial worker (woman) said, 'it's not a big deal'. We will bill you for this visit and when you come to your next immunization visit, bring this bill and we will fix it. You don't have to pay nothing. But for today you have to sign here accepting that we will bill you for this visit. I asked whether they can really fix it or not. She said, 'don't you worry', it's for sure. But nothing happened the way she said even though the insurance was active. Now i have to pay nearly $500 out of my pocket. Insurance company might have lost our plan form and they said they can't help for the past month. Now, the same lady says, if you don't pay, it goes to collection. Thanks HWC! read more
