Very bright and airy and extremely spacious. Plenty of seating and lots of greenery and solid wifi make it a great place to set up shop for a bit, which I did as I sat in on a few work calls during my visit. They have a smaller but curated menu, both of food and beverages, with a real focus on the beans and expertly prepared coffee/espresso. They don't have many syrups or flavors, setting it up to let their roasts shine. I do like my coffee a little sweet so opted for the honey in my iced latte and it was delicious. For bites they have a few items, including an egg scramble, egg sandwich, sourdough pancakes (which is garnering them quite a following!) and my choice, the "Good Salad" which was greens, warm roasted potatoes, and fresh dill topped with a hazelnut green garlic crunch. I added the optional soft boiled egg for a bit of protein and it was great! I wish they sold the hazelnut green garlic crunch because I would put it on EVERYTHING. They also have a few baked goods available and I definitely snatched up the last chocolate walnut cookie while I was there. I'm not sure if they warmed it up a bit for me or they just make a magical gooey cookie but the chocolate chunks were melty and so decadent. They had a few seasonal strawberry based items right now, including some ice cream and beverages. I meant to grab the latter on my way out but got distracted and forgot. Next time for sure! Her drink was great, very similar to Roos Roast and very enjoyable (I tried a sip). My drink was good quality but I didn't prefer the Ope milk because of the distinct nutty and roasted taste of the sunflower seeds. Because I am lactose intolerant and that is the only option, I don't think I would come back here for coffee. I could tell by the taste aside from the milk that the coffee was good quality and brewed with great attention to detail. As for flavors, Espy only had two flavor options on their menu which is unique and has its own pros and cons. I love that the seltzer water is on the house. I would love to try some food here next time I come. Amanda was our barista. They were incredibly kind and eccentric in the best way. They made us feel comfortable and helped us navigate the menu well. Hopefully I have them as a barista again :) The overall vibe of the cafe is amazing. The merch is very cute and as a ceramicist, I really appreciate the handmade mugs, plates, planters, and so on. The open layout was spacious and I genuinely enjoyed being in there. You can taste the freshness. They also rotate beans pretty often, which keeps things fresh and exciting. I've had a lot of great flavors there and I actually look forward to trying whatever they will have next. The Nickels Arcade location is great too. Small space, but it has a quiet old Ann Arbor feel that fits the coffee perfectly. Easily one of my favorite spots in the city.

The main thing Drip House has going for it is that it is effectively the only coffee spot to sit and study or meet someone right by the stadium (where a bunch of us live and/or work). It is also open into the early evening when a lot of other coffee spots aren't. And we do love an outside seating option. The service has always been just fine and it's a pretty cute spot (not to sound ridiculously nit-picky but while we're here--someone might wanna sheer some of the many dead leaves off the beautiful plant inside though). Also, the banana oat latte they had as a special a couple months ago was delicious. So yummy. Some things I don't love about Drip House: the blue chairs. So uncomfortable. It is expensive and, dare I say, overpriced. The first time I got my $14 piece of ricotta toast, it was delicious. And I figured, fine. It's $14 for a piece of bread with a little cheese and jam but it's so yummy, I'll splurge every once in a while and go with it. Plus, I can't eat tree nuts, so it is one of the few options for me. However, the second time I got it, it was most definitely not worth it. The "whipped" ricotta was just a sad, thin wet layer and there was practically no jam. I get it. It's expensive out here. We're living in the shadows of the avocado toast economy where espresso drinks cost minimum $7 and you effectively can't buy anything for less than $4. But just because you feel like you *can* doesn't mean you *should.* Paying $14 for a piece of bread.... Come on. It's insulting. It feels exploitative. Will i be going back? Now open Wednesdays! I know because I am sitting here right now!…read more Egads! Mike and his team are elevating the coffee game in Ann Arbor to unprecedented levels. Thanks to fellow Yelpers Allison and Tiffany for getting in here early and putting this spot on my radar. The hours are limited, and up until recently Curious was closed three days a week, which had made it challenging to get in. What initially grabbed my attention were the co-fermented coffees. Coffee beans that were fermented alongside fruit, like strawberries and peaches. The idea kinda blew my mind. I had never heard of such madness, and despite having a personal preference for coffee flavored coffee, I was compelled to try it. Wow! Just wow. In a cappuccino with the creaminess and fat of well textured whole milk, true fruit flavors and aromas poured from the cup. I was smitten. But still, this is flavored coffee, albeit flavored coffee without any syrups or sweeteners. Then there was the hot bloom cold brew. Another concept that made me sit back and ponder how I have been making my cold brew for decades. It made intuitive sense, and tasted fantastic. But I have to say, given my personal preference for straight up coffee, the pour over program is profound, perhaps even poetic. At the moment I'm sipping on a natural process Luz Helena Geisha. Some coffee shops might have this as the top of their line. At Curious, it's just one of many single origin super high quality beans that are roasted and brewed with care to maximize the flavors from within the beans. What does this mean in the cup? Well, for starters the color might remind some folks more of a dark tea than what they might be accustomed to from a national coffee chain or the classic diner. The aromas are delicate and distinct. This brew is described on the menu of being tropical, funky, and delicious with aromas of papaya, pineapple, and watermelon. The flavor is gorgeous. Beautiful balance, confounding complexity, with a long lingering finish. Coffee like this takes time. Do not expect to pop in and out for a quick cup. This is coffee that demands to be savored, and is served as such. Pour overs come in a glass pitcher so you can appreciate their color and clarity. Then you can pour it yourself into a ceramic cup, which has ample room to get your nose deep inside of it to inhale the intoxicating aromas. Coffee like this might be a little more expensive than what you might be accustomed to paying, but it's worth every penny. Plus there are always options at Curious that are a bit closer to earth. It's a spot to treat yourself in a little oasis that at night turns into a meadery. For the record, I am notoriously hard on coffee shops. Curious Coffee is a gem, and we are incredibly fortunate to have this option in our community. Did I say egads? Because egads this coffee is fantastic! Do yourself a favor. If you do have to take your coffee to go, for the love of god take off the plastic lid. Smell the brew in your cup and I promise you will not look back. Take your time. Enjoy. Be curious. Basic order, maybe, but this was DELICIOUS! The coffee itself really shone through in taste, and the honey is from the meadery. I impulse got a slice of banana bread as well. This was THICK and sweet and luxurious. Perhaps the banana bread and honey latte combo is a little too sweet for me, but I look forward to coming back and trying some of their black coffees. So many interesting sounding flavor profiles!

Though I do like a tarter jam in my matcha, I think it was spot on to the name and I would give it a 9/10. The banana pudding matcha didn't shy away from a coffee flavor but still gave that banana pudding taste. A lot of banana flavored things I've had have been on the chemically side but this is probably one of the better banana drinks I've had. I do wish it could have been creamier but overall, I can't complain and I'd give it a 8/10. I didn't get to indulge in any of the desserts but they all do look very good. As far as service, everyone was decently friendly. It was a little slow but it was an in app order which I know doesn't take priority over in person customers so I understand. The cafe itself is incredibly beautiful and did a good job of providing a lot of space for students to study and good places to take pictures as well. My only complaint overall is price. My drink was $9 and that was with me choosing not to get oat milk despite being lactose intolerant because it would have been too expensive. That alone doesn't necessarily make it 100% worth it in the economy we are facing today. There are high quality drinks you could get locally for a little cheaper than that. Overall, if money isn't a concern for you and you need good place to stay and study for a while, I would completely recommend this place.
