My friends were craving oyster shooters after a day at the river. It was my first time having it, and needless to say they were really delicious. I am now a huge fan and came back a few times for more especially in the summertime. This place is ordinary not too fancy with chill vibes with exceptional food. Their other dishes were equally as flavorful. The service was good, lots of parking available, and no reservations needed.

Delicious! Everything we ordered was great (garlic edamame, JD, Love, Fuji, Haruka rolls). And we met the owner, she is so sweet. Definitely will be back soon.

Service is good, but the food is very bad. Warm, fishy pieces of fish on nigiri, definitely not fresh. Fish on rainbow roll small pieces, thin cut, see through, sloppily made. Miso soup had overcooked slimy seaweed. Could not eat any of it. This is probably the only time I was so grossed out by food that I threw everything away.

Almost 20 bucks, teriyaki sauce over it. I don't eat raw beef. Very disappointed

I don't eat raw meat pls ask if you want me to eat raw, we'll done? My first time ordering. Instead of me eating I still have to cook my meat. Amd teriyaki sauce over it? Weird bento box. Very disappointed! Almost 20 bucks

We came here for the oyster shooters! Sushi was fresh and flavorful. We asked pan fried udon noodles, which was off menu, and they were willing to accommodate. They used to have more specials, but no longer. Understandable given the economy. Great service, great food.

Sweet boat, wish the sushi was tastier!

I have to say that I wasn't impressed by this place. I do have high sushi standards, but I don't think they're that unreasonable haha. We came in the evening just for some rolls. My parents recently moved to Granite Bay, so we wanted to find out new "go to" sushi spots. My fiancé and I ordered 4 rolls. They were each pretty small and I probably couldn't even have told you which was which- they were very similar looking. The fish was fine, and the taste was okay, but it just didn't wow me. It was pretty plain and just meh. At least the fish wasn't gross. I was a bit turned off by the gross smell when we walked in and I'm super sensitive to smells, so that may have been the first thing for me that was unappealing. I probably wouldn't go back.

Found this place on yelp, wanted to share some Oysters and Sushi with my best friend. As we arrived, we were promptly seated in a booth, quickly looked over the menu, and were ready to order. I believe they must have thought I was a fat kid, being that I ordered half the menu. Two Half shelled Oysters, 1 Fuji, 1 Oregon, 1 Nine Trails, 1 Sushi Combo B, 1 Hamachi Carpaccio, 1 Nori Chip n Dip, and 1 Haruka. Everything was fantastic and tasted so fresh and delicious, they were quick, and the service was terrific.

Calamari was far too crunchy. They also never offered or brought water. The waitress was chewing gum and came to us after we finished our appetizer. She asked if there was anything else she could get us... although, she took our full order before the calamari? Hadn't brought us our soup yet? She said sorry she's still new. I'm confusion. How do not remember taking our order 15 minutes ago when there are 2 other people here? Idk. Something was off about her. anyway 45 minutes later we got our rolls... Of the rolls we ordered, the bansai was the best not too much spicy mayo like the rest. They all looked the same... All of it was pretty underwhelming. Anyway won't be back

Sushi Combo C (6 pieces assorted Nigiri and Chowchilla Roll)

I'm always looking for great sushi spots near Roseville/granite bay and this checks every box! I was taken here for a birthday meal and loved it. The chowchilla roll with spicy scallop, tuna, crab, cream cheese and topped with hamachi, avocado, and sauce was absolutely amazing! Such a great balance of spicy with the sweeter sauce. Also, the nigiri tasted fresh and is the perfect option for those who aren't into fancy rolls! Loved that the Sushi Combo C came with (6) pieces of Nigiri, the chowchilla roll, a small salad, and a side of rice, all for $22! Highly recommend this spot for great sushi!

Love this place! While the decor inside is very basic the sushi and sashimi was great. Chef Jimmy and staff do a great job. I especially like how he cuts his sashimi. The nori chip n dip is fab. Unique and artfully put together. We like the Phoenix roll, Oregon roll, Lodi, Chowchilla. They do a happy hour sushi n drinks.

Awesome happy hour selection - $6 each!

They had a deal where all sushi rolls were 50% off, which sounded great at first. Unfortunately, the sushi was very disappointing. Every roll we ordered came out warm, almost as if it had just come straight out of the oven. For example, the shrimp tempura rolls--rather than making the tempura fresh and letting it cool before rolling--they just pulled the shrimp out of the oven and stuck it inside the sushi roll. To me, that's not appetizing at all. If I want hot shrimp tempura, I'll order it as a separate dish. Sushi that isn't baked should not be hot. When we tried to explain this to our server, he clearly had no idea what we were talking about. His response was, "Do you want the shrimp taken out of the roll?"--which made no sense. Service wasn't much better. We kept asking for water, and instead of simply refilling our glasses at the table, the server kept taking them away and bringing them back one by one--for a table of five. Eventually, he brought out a pitcher, but it shouldn't have taken that long. I also ordered a cream soda, but he brought a Japanese soda instead. When I asked why, he said they don't carry cream soda anymore--so why leave it on the menu? Overall, the experience was frustrating and disappointing. Between the poorly prepared sushi and the clueless service, I definitely won't be returning. Forgot to mention the empty soy sauce bottles

Since it wasn't very busy when we arrived, we were seated right away. The dining room is fairly large, with a mix of tables, booths, and counter seating. Each table has a tablet for electronic ordering, but we decided to go old-fashioned and order through our server. We started with a large hot sake and six pieces of gyoza, asking our server to hold the entrées until we finished. The sake hit the spot and paired nicely with the gyoza. The gyoza tasted good but was just a bit harder than we'd like. For the main meal, I ordered a bento box with nigiri sushi and tempura, while the others chose a salmon teriyaki bento box and a Spicy Yellowtail Roll. My nigiri tasted fresh and nicely prepared. I also tried a piece of the Spicy Yellowtail Roll and found it to have a nice flavor profile. The salmon teriyaki was clean and sweet, with a natural salmon flavor, and was tender and juicy. The portions were generous, making for a satisfying meal, and everyone enjoyed their food, although my companions thought the tempura was a bit too oily. Despite the slightly firm gyoza and oily tempura, the good sake, generous portions, and relaxed atmosphere made for a very enjoyable lunch. The highlight for me was sipping the remaining sake and enjoying the nigiri.

Taste is subjective, and what one person finds delicious, another may not. However, there are certain universal aspects of dining, such as customer service, cleanliness, communication, and overall hospitality, that every restaurant should strive to deliver. My reviews reflect the complete experience, not just what's on the plate. We decided to try Hasu Teriyaki & Sushi in Folsom for the first time and brought the kids along. Unfortunately, the experience got off to a rough start. When we walked in, there were several open tables, but no one greeted us or explained whether we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated. A female employee saw us but didn't provide any direction, so we picked a table ourselves. After waiting for a bit with no acknowledgment, I had to get up and grab menus on my own. We spent about eight minutes deciding what to order (never easy with kids), but still no one came by. After another several minutes, I finally walked the few feet to the register and asked, "Are we supposed to order here or at the table?" The response was simply, "Yes, order here." After placing my order, I was immediately prompted to add a tip before receiving any service, which is something I personally find frustrating. Then I grabbed our cups to fill our drinks myself, only to find the ice machine was out of ice. At that point, it felt like we were striking out on every opportunity for a good first impression. It appears there's only one employee handling both the register and the dining area, which may explain some of the confusion. If that's the system, it would really help to have a sign letting customers know to seat themselves and order at the counter. There are only about seven tables inside, but without any guidance, the dining experience is confusing for first-time visitors. Once the food arrived, it was presented nicely. I ordered the Rainbow Roll and Dragon Roll, and visually they looked great. Unfortunately, I found the flavors to be underwhelming. The sushi was very mild, and even the wasabi had almost no heat. I added far more wasabi than I normally would, yet it barely had any kick. For someone who really enjoys sushi, the overall flavor just didn't stand out. The kids' non-raw rolls were also just average. To her credit, the employee did check on us twice after the food arrived, and she was friendly. I think she recognized that I was frustrated after spending roughly 15 minutes in the restaurant without any acknowledgment or explanation of how ordering worked. Overall, the experience wasn't terrible, but it wasn't one that makes me eager to return. Between the confusing service, lackluster first impression, and sushi that was simply average, I'd probably look elsewhere next time.
