Can't remember names of the roles, Citrus Heights was one of them

Bought some rolls here, been consistently good, the last time idk, the salmon was two colors and a little grey. Still tasted good but the presentation felt off and freshness was questionable. I love they're located next to a bar and will walk the order over. I'd repeat, but will definitely be observing the visual esthetics.

Came in today to celebrate my husband and I 16th anniversary together. We choose to seat up at the bar area. The service we had was great and the staff were so nice and made sure we were well taken care of. And the food was so good what we got, we both got the TNT Rolls and also the aloha rolls deep fried. And we got some hot sake and my husband also got a beer. The restaurant was very clean as well. We have been coming here for years and will continue to do so. If you haven't been here yet i highly recommend you checking this place out.

Not good. Tasted like bad buffet sushi and meat. Didn't give me wasabi. Put onions in food although I said not to. Was just...really bad, yuck.

I went here on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch since I was in the area for work. There were no customers in the restraunt. Which surprised me. The place is nicely decorated and looked clean to what I can tell. I called in for my order and the person who picked up was very kind. The 2 rolls itself were okay. Nothing to rave about. I was very filled by the end.

5 pc nigiri with 8 pc CA roll, $20. Request of no salmon was granted. Farmed = unsustainable. Food not great. Not trying again. 7-18-24

Food wasn't very good. Had to spit out one nigiri as it didn't taste fresh. California roll had an unusual flavor I didn't like. Other customer had patronized many times and loves it. Everyone has different taste buds and my palate is keen. Restroom was ok. Dining area had gimmick music, gimmick colored lights, but nice other decor without being bright. Did take out by placing order in person. Food order was correct and they accommodated my request for 0 salmon (farm raised is not sustainable and is harmful to the ocean ecosystem - fish crap and tons of fish are in these pens and it saturates the local space and beyond). Took nearly 30 minutes for food. Wasn't warned. Sick of restaurants that fulfill delivery orders first. Not returning.

This is an awesome place! Our first time here and we had a great experience with the food and the server. The place have your typical local sushi restaurant design, dark ambiance with mainly red as their color. Their nigiri portion are HUGE, definitely generous with the fish. The Hanabi Roll was really great also, beautiful presentation, though the spice did kick really hard. We would for sure give this a 5 stars if the rolls have some kind of design on it, instead of just plain. Though, without the design, it does show how big the portion for the rolls are so that's also another great thing. Highly recommend and will definitely come back!

I would have never thought a Japanese restaurant was here. The inside was another story! The inside is decorated with all kinds of Japanese pictures and decor. You definitely felt like you were in a Japanese restaurant. The menu was impressive! Everything had pictures which is so amazing! It was just easier having an idea of what to pick based on looking at the pictures. There were all kinds of sushi rolls, bento boxes, noodles, appetizers and plates. We decided to get the ramen, salmon katsu, and tempura bowl. Food came our really quick. Portions were good and everything we tasted wonderful. It definitely satisfied our craving. The tempura was crispy. The ramen broth was rich and noodles nice and chewy. The bento box came with gyoza, salad, tempura, oranges, miso soup and rice. Service was great. They were attentive, and friendly. Eating with our littles ones is never easy and we appreciated how patient they were with us. We loved the food and hope to come back and try their sushi next!

This is exactly what I had experienced when I paid a visit to "Akira Sushi" Located directly on Greenback Lane and adjacent to Auburn Blvd in Citrus Heights, this place opened its doors for business back in mid-2024. Since then, they have seen a very respectable amount of positive reviews. As I had previously mentioned, the exterior isn't much to look at as this is a fairly dated strip mall that hasn't received any updates in decades. And to those that remember, this is the same building that "Pho 54" occupied from 2013-2023. During my visit which was the afternoon of Sunday 8/3/2025 at around 5:15pm, I parked directly outside as there were no other cars here. Upon entry, there was one other customer finishing dinner. After being greeted and seated, I was given a menu complete with a cold glass of iced water. I will say that the interior of this place is quite impressive, cozy, and inviting. The distressed wooden tables paired up with the tan-colored walls and unique murals add an upscale look to the overall interior. On a packed evening, this place can comfortably seat around 50 guests. I will say that their menu is fully loaded with pure deliciousness. They offer a huge variety of traditional sushi rolls, custom rolls, Bento boxes, seafood tacos (available in tuna or salmon), Poke bowls, and even ramen for the colder days/evenings. And even a nice variety of beverages including soda, beer, wine, and sake. Since I was dining solo, I decided on the "Sunomomo Salad" which was a cucumber salad w/Ponzu sauce and Bonito flakes. My main dish was their "Napa Valley" roll which uses shrimp tempura, cucumbers, avocado, spicy aioli, unagi sauce, and topped with sesame seeds. My salad was brought out in less than 3 minutes while my sushi arrived just a few minutes later. I will say that everything was very fresh and delicious. The avocado had perfect consistency while the shrimp was made to perfection. In my humble opinion, this was an absolute gem of a roll. All in all, "Akira Sushi" is about as good as it gets for quality sushi in Citrus Heights. They have very respectable hours of operation being open 6 days a week; Tuesday through Sunday from 11:30am-2:30pm / 4:00-8:30pm with extended hours on Fri/Sat while being closed for business on Monday. Service was great as the young lady that waited on me was polite, courteous, and respectful. With a great atmosphere, delicious food, and reasonable prices, I am giving Akira Sushi a unanimous five-star rating.

Sushi Star is in a little strip mall behind a Walgreens and located a few doors down from Corner Pocket, which is likely why they stay open to 10pm on weekends. A section of the menu is labeled "Vegetarian Rolls" but most of them are actually vegan. There's also a few veggie appetizer standards: edamame, seaweed salad, sunomono. They also have inari. The seaweed salad was an actual salad... it came served on a bed of spring greens. I liked it. We also tried the AAC (avocado, asparagus, cucumber) and Veggie Rolls. Both were good, but the Veggie Roll was modified to what was actually listed on the menu. It was still tasty though. I liked how the veggie rolls come sauceless by default so I don't have to ask for them to be removed to keep it vegan. Basic = easy. Service was average here, so all in all I would come back when I'm looking for another quick bite of vegan sushi and don't feel like making it myself.

We came in on a Tuesday night and there was still a crowd, but we were seated within about 15 minutes. It was quite lively with a few larger groups were we were seated, but you could still talk amongst your group and be heard. As for the food, it is still some of the best fish I've tasted. The prices have definitely gone up in the 10ish years I've been coming, so it's probably more a rare treat than an occasional visit. Everything was super fresh and came out quick enough. The serving size for some of the dishes have diminished, for example, the Musolino Pasta. Considering the base is upon noodles, I'm surprised they're putting less into that rather than their fish. The sushi rolls and sashimi dishes we picked still had a lot of fish pieces and very very fresh. Just that one big ding on a non-sushi based dish and of course the prices. Aside from that, I still love coming here and the Fair Oaks location is still near and dear to my heart.
