Wife brought me to her (and my daughters) new favorite Japanese comfort food teriyaki and sushi joint. I found it to be average. I had a bento box with mixed tempura (only one tiny shrimp) teriyaki beef, and a california roll. Nothing was bad, but nothing was unique or better than any other similar restaurant I have been to. The biggest downer is they are clearly not filtering their water, and even with four lemon slices, all I could taste was chlorine. All in all ok, and I give three stars for the large portions. Bought some rolls here, been consistently good,the last time idk, the salmon was two colors and a little grey. Still tasted good but the presentation felt off and freshness was questionable. I love they're located next to a bar and will walk the order over. I'd repeat, but will definitely be observing the visual esthetics. read more

I have been going here for awhile since it very convenient how close it is to my house and every time, at least one of my orders has been wrong. I call them and don't offer a solution... my order Tonight was the last time I'll be ordering from here. I placed a sushi order over the phone, and the person taking my order kept getting things wrong. I corrected her multiple times, and honestly, that should have been a sign that my order wasn't going to be right. When I got home, sure enough, the order was messed up. I called back, and the woman I spoke with told me, "That's how it's supposed to be." I explained that I've ordered this same item multiple times and know that's not correct. Instead of putting a sauce on the side for a different dish, they poured it directly on my sushi, making it inedible for me. I asked if they could remake it, but no solution was offered and there was no attempt to make things right. Very disappointing experience. Never again. read more

Came in today to celebrate my husband and I 16th anniversary together. We choose to seat up at the bar area. The service we had was great and the staff were so nice and made sure we were well taken care of. And the food was so good what we got, we both got the TNT Rolls and also the aloha rolls deep fried. And we got some hot sake and my husband also got a beer. The restaurant was very clean as well. We have been coming here for years and will continue to do so. By far the worst sushi I've had. All of the raw fish rolls were warm above room temperature as if they have been sitting out for hours. They were also bland and the fish slightly bitter tasting . I was embarrassed to send it back and leave, so I took a risk and ate it and then prayed for no aftermath . We had to request wasabi and Ginger, and the small bleb of wasabi was oxidize brown on the outside, again as if it was sitting out all night. This is an awesome place! Our first time here and we had a great experience with the food and the server. The place have your typical local sushi restaurant design, dark ambiance with mainly red as their color. Their nigiri portion are HUGE, definitely generous with the fish. The Hanabi Roll was really great also, beautiful presentation, though the spice did kick really hard. We would for sure give this a 5 stars if the rolls have some kind of design on it, instead of just plain. Today my food came out a little bit, disappointed. The flavors were all great, but lacked the toppings that normally has or the quality of the role. I had four different roles. The Citrus Heights, the Hanako, the Mazinger, Z, and the T the TNT fell apart, just by grabbing it with my Chopsticks. When I told the waiter, he didn't seem to care that my role was falling apart, or didn't stay together, and I might need a fork to eat it or a spoon? Not great customer service also, one of my rose rolls tasted like it had smoke on it. I hate smoked anything, and I've had this role before, and it did not taste the same. Every single, one of them fell apart? New employee maybe? Well the presentation was nice, my server did not seem to care about my request. There are more expensive Sushi restaurants in the area but there aren't any with better food. The staff not only are polite, but they will most likely remember you and possibly what you ordered last time, making you feel welcome and they are happy you returned. The Haya roll is amazing as well as the TNT roll. I personally love the Pepper fin and Spicy edamame. read more

One of my friends always raves about Haya and I reluctantly agreed to try it. I do not eat seafood of any kind and the word "Sushi" in the name had me feeling a little nervous. We ordered the bento box and I have to say I was very impressed with this little place. I ordered teriyaki chicken and gyoza. The bento box also came with rice and a salad made with cabbage.
