Additionally the output from the structural engineers was efficiently shown in a virtual meeting describing exactly what changes are required and they worked with the contractor to find the most cost-efficient design. All questions were answered clearly as well as follow-on questions that came up after the design review. After the plans were released and payment was made Lokesh remained very responsive to requests as they come up. I would definitely use Prostruct again if I have another structural engineering project.

It's possible that they'd been there for a long time, but I uploaded the photos to Claude and it strongly recommended getting a structural engineer to assess the damage. I put out several inquiries and ProStruct responded very quickly. I had a free phone consultation with Irvin Chua of ProStruct and he said that he could have an engineer assess the cracked beam and to look for any other sources of damage. Note, that one will need to pay upfront ($875 is their standard fee), which gave me some pause but moved forward as there didn't look to be many structural engineers with a Yelp presence. Irvin arranged for their engineer, Francis, to make a site visit. Francis was professional and confirmed that the foundation and support beams all were in good shape aside from the crack. He went over his recommended repairs and noted that a handyman could handle it and we didn't need a contractor, which saved us money. The report provided was clear and detailed and the handyman had no problems following the recommendations. Repairs are now complete and we have peace of mind that our housing support is solid again.

SF Bay sent over one of their engineers whom I found to be extremely knowledgeable and presented us with options on how best to deal with the situation. We were so impressed that we hired them when it was time to do a large addition and remodel to the house. Marcus, the business owner, is an experienced engineer who really knows his trade. During the design process he worked hard to accommodate my "wish lists" that I kept adding to (yikes!). At the same time, he advised me on things I should consider in order to keep costs down. I always felt he had my interests at heart, while at the same time he was doing what was necessary to meet codes, so we could avoid problems during construction and inspections. While engineers and architects seem to be really busy these days, SF Bay's turnaround time is reasonable, and when you need something in a hurry, they try their best to accommodate. This is a top notch engineering company that charges modest and fair pricing for doing excellent work. If you are lucky enough to come across them, don't hesitate, just hire them and you will be glad you did.

They provided a quote ($600) in no time, offered to send out a sample report and asked for the address of the house. When I probed them with what the evaluation involved (such as mapping floor levelness) and whether they were independent without financial ties to contractors, I learned they don't map floor levelness. They didn't answer the bulk of my questions, and they ended stating they don't have the bandwidth to take on my project.

Three people just had to hire someone else and they are out $4000 because he is so horrible to work with. I am out $4500 and he is a completely unreasonable and he thinks he is smarter than anyone else, when really he is so full of himself no one can get through to him. He is super abusive, many many people have issues with his personality. This company should not exist anymore he is that bad. Will not listen and in my opnion is a complelety abusive and dishonest person. His managwr told me he does not work with push piers or do work for push piers AFTER I paid them and I ws very clear that the foundation fix I needed was being done with push piers, He took my money and he had no way to meet my needs, very dishonest, I hired Bruce Emam to do a soil test for my foundation repair and a possible addition. He called right when the workers were about to start and wanted $1000 more - shady. He tried to pressure me and yelled at me and called several times for more money before they would start working. Like he was holding me hostage. I tried to talk to him he just talked over me and was yelling over and over like he was beating me up with his words. He got off on being a bully. Very aggressive, very powerplay. He said much more extensive work was needed. I had explained the project throughly several times and all was well documented. He would just yell and not listen, total bully. The bait and switch was not appreciated. I cancelled the job and am asking for my deposit back. After calling many other soil companies I realized my job was too small and Bruce was the only one who would do it in the timeframe I needed. I called his manager and he said he would do it but I still had to pay $4500 instead of $3900. Bruce and he was upset at the bad review and wanted me to take it down. I said when I have a good experience and you guys turn out to be nice pople I can take down the bad review. He did the soils report and asked for my money before he would send the report. I said I paid him a deposit I would like to make sure he did the report before paying, but I ended up paying. His report apparently stated they needed concrete piers which are three times more expensive and according to the foundation company completely unnecessary. They said it completely over the top, Those are only used on a landslide or slopes in extreme situations and my ground is flat and totally not needed. He is just all about money. I feel He is intentionally trying to screw me over and make the job three times more expensive. I feel He is very much a power-play guy, holds people hostage has SERIOUS, SERIOUS control Issues, has "I have to be right issues". In my personal opinion, There is something psychologically wrong with this guy. It seems to me he enjoys being vicious and will try to destroy you if you disagree with him. I would never never never recommend this company to anyone and I feel he is a scam artist and highly unethical because he is such a control freak. I am thinking of calling the other people who have worked with him and had to get a totally new report to file a class action lawsuit with me against this terror of a man. Any takers??? He is all about money and a complete CONTROL FREAK AND YOU MUST OBEY HIM OR HE WILL BE BRUTALLY MEAN TO YOU. His own workers say there are many complaints about his personality. I need a full refund or I am seriously considering a lawsuit againt this unethical dishonest bully. This is my experience. This guy is BAD. This is my personal experience with this highly ABUSIVE and overly dominant individual STAY AWAY.

We recently completed a full master bathroom renovation along with a whole-house repipe (galvanized to copper), and from start to finish, Gabriel and his team were professional, transparent, and detail-oriented. Project Pitch Phase: Gabriel came out at least twice to carefully assess the scope of work. He was thoughtful in his recommendations - for example, suggesting we update the bay window to ensure the entire bathroom felt cohesive and aesthetically aligned. While it added to the cost, he explained the reasoning clearly and never felt pushy. He was upfront about pricing and the overall plan. He even invited us to visit another active job site so we could see the quality of work firsthand, beyond just online photos. Additionally, he had his plumber come out to provide a free quote for the copper repiping, which we appreciated. Work in Progress: Gabriel has built an incredible team. His project manager, Israel, was friendly, responsive, and incredibly helpful - especially when it came to selecting tiles, vanities, and fixtures. He helped obtain contractor discounts from vendors and was on-site almost daily (even if just for 10-15 minutes) to check in and address questions. After each visit, he followed up with videos and written notes summarizing discussions, which we found extremely professional and reassuring. The crew was punctual (arriving between 8-9am daily), respectful, and highly skilled - special shoutout to Asa for his craftsmanship. There were typically 1-2 workers on-site each day, and the entire project was completed in about 6 weeks. Wrap Up: The team cleaned up daily, which made living through construction much easier. At project completion, Gabriel even brought in professional cleaners to clean the entire house and driveway - a thoughtful touch. Most importantly, he was responsive and quick to address any small issues we noticed once we began using the new bathroom. Overall, we're very happy with the results and would confidently recommend Step Up Construction for renovation projects. Gabriel and his team deliver quality work with professionalism and care.
