The suspicion was that it was from the chimney and I hired Zack and team to replace the trim around it. When they came, they went above and beyond to pinpoint the exact location it's coming from by going on the roof with a hose and opening up light fixtures from the living room to take pictures inside. They were able to find the exact spot and seal it as well as replacing all the rotten wood we had around the chimney. Finally no more pots and pans for us! We are very grateful for the hard work and the dedication that they put into solving our issue. The pricing was very fair as well. We will hire them again for future projects and I highly recommend Zack and team.

What was going on and what was happening if I had any concerns, he addressed them immediately and make sure that they met my expectations. I would use Wise Builders again and I would request Marc to be my project manager again on any future jobs that I had. He worked really well with our designer Jocelyn, I appreciated having a designer. Having a designer to bounce ideas off have her expertise on fixtures and toilets was amazing. Jocelyn did an excellent job working with me and when my daughter had some changes to this design, she was very receptive to those changes and helped me update the changes in our design The only thing that could have been better is, if the tile supplier had communicated with Marc that the tile for the guest shower floor was backlogged. Marc worked really hard to expedite the tile and was in communication with me along that process. In order to give us options besides waiting for the tile, Jocelyn, our designer gave us an alternative tile. Looking at the tile floor now I like it better than what I had originally chosen. I have done other remodeling projects and I would have to say that working with Marc has probably been one of the easiest remodeling projects that I have done. I appreciated that I did not have to be so hands-on in the project because I trusted that Marc would get it done.

All prior interior work in our house had been done by handyman. I really appreciated the communication from our project manager Marc. He created a WhatsApp chat with me and the incredible designer Jocelyn. They were both consistently responsive to any of my questions or concerns -- and opened my mind to design options. Jocelyn spent time in our home, drafted plans, took me shopping, and sourced all the fixtures. From her spreadsheet I was able to find less expensive options for some items. I appreciated the input and control I had on these expenses. Since we needed to move out, I had a tight timeline for the project -- mid October until Thanksgiving. Marc and the team did their best despite City of San Jose delays with inspections. We were able to move back in before the final inspection. Every member of the team was kind and courteous. Marc also did a great job working with the window vendor that specializes in older homes. I'm rating the experience a 4.5 out of 5 for two reasons. I was disappointed that the medicine cabinet, switch plates, and hooks were initially installed unevenly (it was corrected). I expected more attention to detail. And I was disappointed in the wear & tear that happened on my wood floors as well as the overall dust in my dining room. I was warned that things would get dusty -- but didn't understand the extent and would have packed away more things. WISE offers lots of support with design -- they could also offer as part of their package a full cleaning! I offer this feedback to help others calibrate their expectations. Overall it was a positive experience. I waited several months to post this review until I returned from travel and could see how things were settling after regular use. I'm loving the new bathroom and recommend WISE.

If you are looking for the absolute best price and a contractor who is genuinely easy to talk to, Jay is your guy. He is very agreeable and was always willing to negotiate and perform reworks until I was satisfied with the result. That said, if your project is on the more complicated side like mine was, you should be prepared to take an active role in project management. The timelines did extend significantly beyond the original estimates, and I had to stay on top of the subcontractors to ensure the craftsmanship met my standards. It wasn't a hands-off experience, but because he is such an honest person to deal with and his pricing is so competitive, we got both projects to the finish line. A strong pick for those on a budget who don't mind being involved in the details. After working with many contractors in the Bay Area, I've found that the alternative is usually someone charging much more who promises a turnkey experience but can't guarantee it either. Knowing that tradeoff, I would hire Jay again - and already have.

Their pricing was fair and competitive, but what really set them apart was their transparency, communication, and commitment to quality. Construction projects almost always uncover unexpected challenges, and whenever they did, the team took the time to explain the options, recommend thoughtful solutions, and make sure the work was done the right way--not just the easiest way. The awning installation was by far the most complex part of the project. Because of the structural requirements, they carefully reviewed the original architectural drawings, coordinated with the structural engineer who designed the home, and completed extensive planning and preparation before installation. Their attention to detail and focus on safety gave me complete confidence that the job was being done correctly. The final result exceeded my expectations and has become one of my favorite additions to the house. It's rare to find a contractor who combines quality craftsmanship, integrity, fair pricing, and excellent communication. When we were finally ready to revisit it, they were willing to honor the original estimate, which we really appreciated. This is our first home and the first major renovation project we've undertaken, so we were a little apprehensive going into the process. We ultimately decided to expand the project into a full remodel, and even with the additional scope, the updated price remained very reasonable and close to what we had originally expected to spend. Once the project started, everything moved quickly and smoothly through each phase. Communication was timely and responsive, which helped keep the project moving efficiently from start to finish. Tony, the foreman, and his team were extremely detail-oriented and did exceptional work. The craftsmanship really shows in the finished bathroom. Everything looks carefully installed and precise, and the tile work in particular is incredibly clean. We're extremely happy with how the bathroom turned out and with the overall experience, especially for our first major home project. We would use them again for future projects and highly recommend them.

After another service removed the moisture and in the process gutted part of the kitchen and dining room, Gadir stepped in to handle the restoration. Right from the start, it was clear that he was on top of the job. He arrived the same day to assess the project and had shared an estimate within an hour. His pricing was reasonable and he quickly scheduled the work. He completed a very neat and quality job quickly and while keeping us updated through the process. He was readily accessible and was prompt in responding to any questions. Gadir was sincere and committed and went above and beyond on the job. First, when he visited a couple of different Lowes stores to find the specific wood we wanted for flooring and brought it to the site. After the job was complete, he fixed the garbage disposal which had a screw badly latched in. He needed to disassemble the garbage disposal to pull it out, and from looking at the screw, it was clear it wasn't one they had used. I will be reaching out to Gadir for future remodelling jobs.

Even though he was managing multiple jobs at the same time, his responsiveness and willingness to go out of his way to address our concerns made a big difference. Because we were home throughout the process, we were able to catch issues early and communicate them directly to Bryan, who consistently followed through to resolve them. What Went Well: * The tile and flooring subcontractors were excellent - their craftsmanship and attention to detail truly stood out. * Bryan, our foreman, was responsive to texts and phone calls, listened to our concerns, and made sure they were addressed. He even designed a bi-fold closet door for us, and helped pick up all the material to build it. * Bryan also took the initiative to handle several unfinished items himself, which we really appreciated. * The post-build cleaners were top-notch and left the space in pristine condition. * Throughout the project, everyone we interacted with was professional, courteous, and conscientious. There were no conflicts or issues, which made the experience comfortable for us. Areas for Improvement: * The timeline was a pain point. While we were originally told the project would take 6-8 weeks, it ended up stretching to 12 weeks. * The design process fell short of expectations. Because Prime's in-house designers weren't available, our design work was outsourced. We only received a full design package for the master bathroom. As a result, we ended up creating our own renderings for the other rooms to help communicate our vision to the team. That said, we were very happy with the design and material selections for the master bathroom they did complete. We just wish the same level of attention and design support had been provided for the rest of the project. * At times, resource availability was limited, likely due to workers being assigned to multiple jobs. This led to workflow inefficiencies and delays. Toward the end of our renovation, our foreman Bryan had to personally step in to complete several tasks, such as installing faucets, shelving, and baseboards. He managed to get it done in between site visits and meetings, which we appreciated, but it also highlighted a lack of available crew to close out the project. Despite these few challenges, the quality of the work met our expectations. We appreciated the team's effort and the final outcome.

We were…read morenervous hearing so many personal stories of architects, designers and builders not working well together or getting ghosted by them, so it was important for us to find an all-in-one shop for our build, which is why we picked GV. We knew this was going to be a monumental project, and it certainly was, as it took over 3+ years due to various city and HOA approval delays. Every construction project had its fair share of challenges, delays, and last-minute changes, but we are so pleased with the final outcome and thankful that GV was our partner through it. A few key highlights from our build: ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN: We unexpectedly ran into numerous challenges and roadblocks during our approval process, but it was the fantastic architectural design that saved us and managed to meet or exceed all of the city requirements. OPEN COMMUNICATION: GV set up a group WhatsApp chat for us that included the owners and every key staff member working on our project. We could utilize it 24/7 for questions, comments and decisions. COORDINATION & SOURCING: We wanted a builder that could handle primary management with all our vendors when it came to delivery timing and especially if there were product issues. GV took the lead in coordinating closely with external suppliers (whether they were recommended by GV or not) to receive, store and install all of the fixtures and finishes. GV never pressured us to use their recommended vendors, although in a few instance, their close relationships helped with not only pricing, but quick follow-ups with any product related issues or replacements. PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT & ONSITE MEETINGS: Huge shout-out to Barry Hahn (our production manager and lead) and the onsite crew (led by Freddie and Fernando) who MET WITH US WEEKLY onsite to provide updates. We always knew what they were working on and if they needed a decision from us, we could come see it for ourselves. We didn't always know the best decision immediately, but the team was patient, explaining and showing us all the options and the factors we should consider. WORKMANSHIP: GV takes pride in doing things right and to the highest quality. One example is when we were going through the home after it was painted and highlighting areas for touch up, our production manager came in over the weekend on his own and identifed even MORE areas than we did. In other words, GV doesn't try to take shortcuts or accept "good-enough" work. We've used 3…read moredifferent contracting companies now to remodel different bathrooms in our home and I'd say Cotfort was the best in terms of communication, flexibility, and quality. Some highlights I'd call out are they have great subcontractors and technicians. The tiling, paint job, electrical... everything was fantastic, and everyone was super easy to work with. We've always had communications / language barriers when working with workers in the past, so it was nice to be able to answer questions or give feedback directly onsite without having to wait for Umid to jump in. I also found Cotfort trustworthy and reasonable. For one, I decided to try an online-only tile company which led to terrible delays to the project (my fault there), and they were patient with reschedules though I know it caused them headaches. They also stepped in to make things right, without hesitation, when their countertop fabricator accidentally installed the wrong floor curb on the shower. Another sign of trustworthiness: I asked them to come back after the work was done to change out one of the accessories in the bathroom... they really had no obligation to but they did anyway. There were definitely some hiccups, like in all projects, but it helped a lot that they were responsive, flexible, and communicative. I never felt like they were trying to nickel and dime us or recommend something outside of our interests.

We worked with Open Remodel on a Major Addition and Remodel design and architectural plan for our home in West San Jose. It was a complicated project as we are trying to convert a single family home into a multi-family home. Ashutosh was our main architect and he was wonderful with gathering our requirements, meeting with us to review proposals and listened very well to our feedback. Most importantly, since we had very specific requirements for the home, Ashu provided great suggestions, but we never felt that he was pushing us to include anything that we didn't want or things that were extraneous. For us that was important because we really wanted an architect/designer that listened to the needs of two families and designed within those parameters. Shweta and Ashu then walked us through the permit process with the city and while it did take some time to get the permits, Shweta and Ashu provided continual updates on their conversations with the city and estimates of how far out we were from receiving permits. Overall the experience was great and low-stress. The biggest thing that I am very grateful for is that they knew how quickly we need to move on this project and provided an uncomplicated design that they were confident they could get through the city permit process without major changes or feedback. read more

My husband and I were thinking to have a new 2-car garage and an ADU built in our backyard earlier this year. So, we looked around for a firm that could get us there. We got some various estimates and the estimate from Open Remodel was competitive and reasonable which also fits our budget. Because this all taken place during Covid-19, we did pretty much everything virtually. Ashish came to inspect our property and took measurements. Ashutosh worked with us via Zoom to achieve the floor plan we envision. From there, our set of plans were developed and would include very detailed Site, Roof Plan, Elevation, Building Section, Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing, Title 24, and Structural. Shweta make sure all drawings/documents were submitted to the City of San Jose for building permits. Overall, The team at Open Remodel is very knowledgeable. The project managers that we had worked with were Tony, Issac and Amit. The experiences that we had with the team were exceptional, Tony and his team leads were very professional, patient, attentive to details, and transparent to the cost. They were excellent in communications and never delay responding to our messages, usually within a few minutes or within hours for any questions that we ask at any time of the day. In terms of services, they are like one stop shop that includes almost everything that we need from a contractor for remodeling so it really saved a lot of our time from talking with different people for different phases of the remodel. Their team has the architect who started with the floor plan with us, with a lot of back and forth discussions and our inputs taken into considerations. After we agreed and finalized the plan, they submitted it to the city for the permit. Since the architects and the construction team are under the same leadership of NuHome, in our case, Tony, this saves a lot of later potential integration problems between the architectural plans and the executions of the construction. During the construction, there were a few times that we changed our plans, for example, changing the size of the closet and pantry, Tony and the team were accommodating it; and in the middle of the construction, we were also changing the type and the number of outlets and the spot lights, Tony and the team were also incorporated that as well. We also had changed the plan for the TV ascent wall, and the team were fully in corporation and working with for the change, which turned out to be beautiful. Another area that really pleased and benefit us was NuHome has excellent interior designer who had worked with us closely in designing the bathrooms, and helping us picking up the right materials that worked perfectly for us, this saved us so much potential headache as we pretty much knew nothing in this field. The three bathroom designs turned out beautifully and exceeded our expectations. We would definitely attribute this to the team deep dedication of putting customers' need first, in addition to the construction team's skill set. The team has made sure to take care of our need from the very beginning to the end of the project, for little things like making sure we have the new lock after the whole project is done is even within their considerations, so we are moving into our new home feeling happy, comfortable and safe.
