This is in the same location that Savage Burrito used to occupy over by Water's End Brewery. Service was a little slow, but everything was hot, fresh and cooked perfectly. The crinkle cut fries were tasty with seasoning sprinkled on them, but unfortunately, they were cold. The sandwich was very tasty and very messy. I could have gone with a spicier sauce, however the one I got was very tasty. The tray came with another sauce and I wasn't sure if it was for the sandwich or the fries so I dipped the fries in it. It's like a seasoned mayo ketchup. I would never recommend eating this in the car but I do recommend trying this place for sure. The decor is just so so. Nothing to talk about with that. Sauce wise there were five levels, I went with "after burner" which is in the middle of the spectrum. As I'm currently writing this I just took a bite of the chicken and I must say this is what I came for! Hot chicken sandwich delivered, I would say the spice level could have been kicked up a notch for me personally. I personally love this place! Is definitely a place I would recommend to my friends and family. I wouldn't just recommend the tenders or sandwich but I would recommend the combo because the fries are just as good, if not, my favorite part. They are so crispy but full and the seasoning is just perfect. Something that also adds to my review is the fact that I've never had a problem with rude staff or anything ever at all. Have been to several Nashville Hot Chicken spots in the D.C. area (Roaming Roosters, Hangry Joe's, Dave's Hot Chicken, etc.) over the past several years - for my money this spot down in Woodbridge (not too far down the street from the Potomac Mills shopping outlet) is the best that I've found yet! Checked this place out a few times, most recently last week. Usually order the standard hot chicken sandwich combo (Combo 1), which is currently priced at $14.49, and includes seasoned fries and a self-pour fountain drink. Have ordered the chicken sandwich in the past with the Angry Hot sauce (their second spiciest offering next to the Medic, which you can try at your own risk) but, even as a spicy food lover, that was a little too spicy for my tastes so have recently been settling for the Afterburner sauce, which is still VERY spicy, but not spicy enough as to where I have to drink after every bite, LOL. Again, would say that HCK is the best hot chicken sandwich I've had in the D.C. area - if anyone knows of better, feel very free to PM me. Almost perfect mix of hot spice, crunch, and flavor. The fries, which are basically wrinkle fries with seasoning, are also very good and compliment the chicken sandwich very well. HCK also offers mac and cheese as a side (which I haven't tried but heard is good) and fried donut drops as a dessert option. Sandwiches were still warm when we got home about 20 minutes later. Extra crispy fries were tasty, still warm and crunchy. Fried pickles were crunchy as well. I noticed this spot a few months ago when out in Woodbridge. Was back in the area and looked decided to check out what my fellow yelpers had to say. Saw all the great reviews so figured I'd give it a try. Based off the reviews I knew I was going to have a few questions before ordering. Mainly regarding the sauce process. I had seen a range of preferences when it came to the sauces, all dependent on heat tolerance. The gentleman behind the counter was super friendly and helped make my decision pretty easy. He explained the 4 sauces and the level of heat for each of them. Based off the description it sounded like the 3rd and 4th may have had some extreme heat . Each sauce has a different pepper which changes the level of heat. I kept it simple and just ordered the Nashville Chicken sandwich with a level 2 spice, which is the after burner sauce. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of the sandwich. The reason being is that the chicken was tough. I was expecting a juicer, thicker, less chewy piece of chicken. It could have just been a one off. I came across this restaurant from a post on Instagram and I loved the way the food looked. How can you go wrong with hot chicken and Mac & cheese? I saw that they were having a community celebration and they were having a special menu item that would only be available for the first 200 customers that ordered it. The special item menu was the Loaded Mac & cheese bowl. Dish came with Mac & cheese topped with the hot chicken chopped up with shredded cheese, breadcrumbs and house made sauce. They did not skimp you on any of the food. Every bite was as good as the last. Very friendly staff from the managers to the employees that bring you your food. Will surely be back to try more items. Customer service- amazing, one of the managers or owner was standing by the door and held the door while greeting us with a smile. When ordering (it was our first time) they were very realistic about how spicy the sauces were and what they recommended we get. Our food came out quickly and HOT! The food: we got the sandwich, slaw, Mac and cheese AND tenders. The sandwich and tender with the slaw was amazing. It was hot, crispy, and full of flavor. The Mac and cheese was honestly just ok. The menu was fairly simple, but there were variations when it came to the sauce. We went with the chicken and waffles, mac and cheese, fried pickles, and two of the chicken sandwiches in base and after burner I believe. I thought it would be in the family of Go Bird or Raising Canes, but the price definitely let me know that it was not the same. I also ordered extra sauces but wished I was warned everything already came with a sauce. I know those employees thought I was crazy, haha. I've been here twice now, and both times the food has been great. I've had both chicken and waffles, and the nashville chicken sandwich. I'm a wimp, so I can only eat the base spicy sauce. Even without the sauce though, the chicken itself is juicy and has flavor. Customer service has also been outstanding each time I've visited. Someone has come by the table to check we're good. I ordered one sandwich for there and another to go since I was bringing it home to my husband, and they were kind enough to have it under a heat lamp until I was ready to leave. Tender had two pieces...each the same size as the one on the sandwich yet the tender meal was less expensive than the chicken sandwich meal. Flavor was good but batter can only be described as "hard." Not to be confused with "crispy." I know they need something that will stand up to saucing but the recipe needs tweaking. Crinkle fries : Perfectly fried and pretty good. Seasoning was a bit too salty and overwhelming. I like salt. Just not that much salt. Drinks : Ice tea was OK but not great. And definitely not made by a real Southerner. They need a better brand of tea. Fountain sodas were weak on syrup. They need to QC this regularly on busy days.
