We contracted with Ted to install a ceiling fan in our home office. He was very repponsive on Yelp and quoted us a fair price for the install and any drywall cuts and repairs. Once he was here, we asked him his opinion on two wall switches in a different room that were not working, and he stayed longer (while I ran to Home Depot for new toggle switches) to fix both of them as well for just a little more added to our total. The fan install was a little more difficult than Ted anticipated, and it was an insane night in our home as well (my husband's car was at the shop and he needed it for work the next day so we had to get that taken care of while Ted was here working) - I'm sure he thought we were nuts, but he was very gracious and understanding about everything! The end results look great, and I am SO happy our light switches are working again - all of this was done for a third of the cost we were quoted by someone else to just do the install and paint the office ceiling (we ended up doing the painting ourselves anyway). Moved into a new house earlier this year and it has lots of projects to tackle. Called around to get estimates for a light fixture installation. Ted responded extremely promptly and gave a vary fair quote. We had him come out and he did an excellent job installing and cleaning up. Did such a good job I later called him to ask if he could install a video doorbell for me. He came out and did a great job, for a moment it looked like he might need to swap out my transformer and he even had one in his van but didn't end up needing it. He did such a great job with both tasks I recommended him personally to my brother in law for electrical work. Since then I had an issue with light fixtures in my master bathroom so called him again and he came by, showed me the issue and that it wasn't with the actual electrical components. He walked me through all the possible concerns including showing me what the back of the side attic looked like and recommended I bring in an insulation contractor. In summary: Failed to follow Covid protocols. Damaged surrounding wall area (photos attached). Electrical work completed satisfactorily. It's difficult for me to give one star, but the failure to follow basic safety protocols during the Covid pandemic overrules any satisfaction we may have experienced with his electrical work. He entered our house without a mask, which made us extremely uncomfortable from the outset. When we asked him if he would please wear a mask, we offered to give him a mask, and he accepted it begrudgingly; however, he wore it improperly under his nose the entire time, rendering it useless for protection. For this reason alone, we will never hire him again. Second, while the electrical work was performed satisfactorily, he caused damage to the area around the wall outlet. Photos attached. Overall, DO NOT recommend, especially if you have concerns about welcoming vendors into your home during Covid.
