I am a bug-hating germophobe, so when my son started scratching his head I l did my best to stay calm, accept that my weekend was ruined, started washing and bagging everything, & and proceeded to treat all of our heads and comb out the only one of us who seemed to have active lice. The morning after all that I saw a dead louse on the floor under my bath towel. I knew I needed checking. I called Kelly and she came over to our home the same morning- at 11am on a Sunday. I was so impressed, she had so much knowledge about lice and the eggs and the baby ones. I didn't know you could put the brushes in the fridge for 12+ hours to kill the lice. My mom and sister are thinking about going now too. I encourage them to go as soon as they can to end the cycle of me and my daughter getting these pests once and for all. My 8 year old daughter has gotten lice once before and I handled it on my own, but this time I did not have the patience for it again. I had to come right on here and praise Kristen for how amazing she was! I called Kelly at almost 10pm last night after I saw my daughter had lice, again! She sent Kristen out today by 4pm. Kristen was very thorough, fast and my 6 year old didn't complain once. She has very long, very thick hair and it takes me hours to do the comb outs. She showed me how to do it, what to look for and preventative treatment. I even bought a terminator comb that they provided for $15! They're around $20 for the cheap ones at Walgreens. I know, because I've purchased hundreds of dollars in prophylactics trying to get rid of them before. Plus it was all natural! No harsh chemicals, like the over the counter stuff...that don't even work! Other places wanted to charge "traveling fees" and so on. I can't say enough positive stuff about Kristen! I know that lice are a fact of life. I know that if you live in an urban area and your children play with other children, brush each other's hair, wear each other's clothes, have sleepovers...they will share more than friendship, they will share lice! So when I found lice on my daughter, I jumped in the phone booth and jumped out in my supermom costume, went to the drug store, got 2 boxes of rid (that's what my mom did) and got to work! Hour after hour I calmly went from hair to hair, pulling off more lice than I thought could even fit in one head! After 7, yes, 7 hours, I faced the truth....the lice were winning. That evening I started calling and emailing lice removal people. Of course I knew no one would answer the Sunday of Presidents day weekend, but I hoped to be able to leave a message somewhere. Imagine my surprise when Kelly, the owner of Head Lice Guru answered the phone and began talking me down off the ledge. "Stop combing, don't stuff everything in plastic bags, relax and just wait till I get there tomorrow and we'll manage it all then." I think it was my first exhale in 7 hours! I don't know why, but I believed her! Because my daughter was asymptomatic, it's hard to know just how long she had lice (is it time to start feeling like a bad mother yet?) She separated fact from fiction while she separated hair after hair and deftly de-loused my daughter's hair using absolutely safe products. She was fabulous with my kids-she checked all of our heads, was reassuring, professional, and more thorough in 2+ hours than I was in 7! I cannot recommend Kelly the Lice Guru highly enough. Amazing work! My daughter ended up getting lice from school. (yaaay, NOT) I quickly jumped on yelp to search for people who could remove them. I came across THE GURU! I'm SO happy I found Kelly! She was able to get my daughter in on short notice & also checked my mom (just in case). I decided to leave work early to have my 2 year old & myself checked. Lice Guru was fabulous. My 5 year old with beautiful china doll hair had been scratching her head for awhile. It never occured to me that it was Lice. Once I took a real look at her hair, I ran to the store to buy RID - Dont waste your time. I applied the RID - and maybe combed out a few bugs - they were still alive. I panicked - know creepy crawly's were in my daughters hair. EWWWWW. I called Kelly first thing the next morning. She calmed me down and sent out Kim. She was wonderful also. While Kim started cleaning out my daughters hair (with no pesticides) I started decontaminating the house. This is a pesky job but hearing everyone elses stories on how they dealt with this for weeks. Hair Gurus was so worth it. They go through and clean out the bugs from every part of their life cycle. Most everything was gone after Kim was done. We still had to comb every day for a week to make sure no last minute eggs were dropped before the critters were taken out of her hair. Kelly was awesome with both of my children. I have a 6 year old and 5 year old. And on my 6 year old daughter, her hair was really infested with lice for over 4 months and Kelly was awesome & removed it all!
