Back in February, I brought Loki in because he had blood in his urine. Bloodwork and a urine test showed his kidney levels were already 319 (when they should have been in the low 100s for a dog his age). I wasn't told how serious this was. Instead, I was told to buy prescription kidney food, give him extra water, and start him on medication. We were also told to come back monthly for repeat bloodwork. As a first-time dog owner, I did exactly what I was told. Every month I paid for more meds, tests, and check-ups. Each time, I was reassured that Loki was "okay" and that I was being a good dog mom. Nothing ever improved. On July 8, I brought him back again for blood in his urine. Same story "he's fine." By July 12, Loki was vomiting and had nonstop diarrhea. By July 13, he wasn't eating at all. I booked an appointment at a different clinic for July 15. That same morning, before the new appointment, Dr. Chuang called me out of the blue. He said, "You're going to another vet? That's okay, but just know Loki is fine." But he wasn't fine. The new vet took one look at him and immediately referred us to Canada West Emergency. The ICU team there were shocked that Loki had gone this long without a referral. His kidney levels had climbed to 720, over 7 times the normal range. Yet just a week earlier, I was still being told he was "okay." We spent thousands at the emergency hospital trying to save him, but it was too late. Both of his kidneys were failing, his organs were shutting down, and on July 18, after fighting so hard, Loki passed away. This was completely avoidable. If Loki had been referred months earlier, he could have had a chance. Instead, Dr. Chuang's negligence and constant reassurance that "he's fine" cost me my best friend. Please, if your dog has any issues, get a second opinion. Don't make the mistake I did by trusting this vet.

One of our doggies recently has been having seizures, and he was seen by a few vets at the clinic. Dr Gravelings, Dr Armstrong and Dr Kates. They are all outstanding and caring. Especially Dr Kates, she shows a true passion in caring for animals and she was extremely patience and careful when she was examining my dog. She is very knowledgeable, understanding, and informative. She took the time to answer any of the concerns we had. And the way she communicates is non-judgemental and unbiased. We really feel that she has the heart for the animals and she really wants them to do well. We feel blessed to have found such a wonderful vet! And their vet technicians are also amazing. The one we encountered the most is Jennifer. She is very caring and gentle with our doggies. She is very helpful, and when we told her we were not comfortable bringing our doggie to Canada west for the neurology consultation because of the poor comments we saw online, she right away said she can help us forward the referral letter to a hospital of our choice. And the many small things that they have done, it really shows they care. I have seen some have mentioned here about their prices. All I can say is we have been to the metrotown animal hospital and some other animals clinics, and the South Burnaby vet is where we want my doggies to be. They treat everyone and animals with respect and care.

We took our dog to Dr. Maan to see if our dog might need stitches and to get antibiotics. Dr. Maan looked at our dog but did not touch our dog nor do anything other than say the wound looked deep and needed Petscans and possibly needed to be operated on to see if there was any internal organ damage. (Read $$$) I felt really uncomfortable with him but I got antibiotics (even though we cleaned the wound and put on saline wound wash and polysporin. I paid about $70 including $25 of an examination fee where the doctor did nothing other than give prescription. What made matters worse is that Dr. Maan contacted the SPCA and alleged animal cruelty. The SPCA officer, Kevin McGeen then alleged animal cruelty and made demands to see our dog or that he would come around with the police. Let me tell you that we love our dog. Our dog is walking around and is eating and drinking. And our dog is getting proper treatment with antibiotics and plenty of care and love. If we believe our dog was badly injured, we would find a vet elsewhere. I feel we were badly treated. I went here because of the 5 star rating.

Dr Kam sees my pets regularly and they also see Dr Brar and Dr Puneet as needed. I trust each one of them implicitly and feel they always put my pets' needs first. Any time I call, I just have to say my first name and they know who I am. I even recognize some of the staff's voices when they speak as we have had such an amazing rapport. Dr Kam has been incredible in helping me make big decisions and he is so knowledgable- always taking more training and loving to learn. I consider each person there as family as they have seen me at my worst in losing a pet. They appreciate my pets' attachment to one another and always say absolutely when we can do procedures like dental cleanings two at a time so my pets have each other in the same cage. Their prices are more than reasonable and I buy lots of pet food from them as well. I will be with Columbia Square forever no matter where I live as the entire team is phenomenal. Dr Radnic said our dog is skinny, we need to feel him more. Dr Grubac on the other hand said our dog is too chubby we need to cut down on his food. We went to another clinic for 2nd opinion: The dr. Is very familiar with our dog's breed and assured us his weight is perfect and healthy. 3. Money grab. Our dog vomited three times over two weeks. Based on a single blood test, Dr. Grubac said our dog needed special prescribed food, which had to be purchased from their clinic. 2nd opinion from another clinic: At another clinic, we were told that one blood test alone is insufficient to confirm pancreatitis. A physical exam was conducted, and we were advised to monitor him. Our dog recovered without further issues. 4. Rash diagnosis without examining the dog. Our dog had a deep cut around his dew claw from his weekly hike with his mountain dog crew. ItConcerned, we called Kingsway Vet. Over the phone, the vet tech suggested that the dew claw might need to be amputated without even seeing the dog. Outcome: We went to another emergency clinic, where the vet provided ointment and a bandage. The wound didn't even require stitches. I would never come back to this clinic and would not recommend anyone to.

Every visit they are very clear about estimated costs, they always prepare me for what the high end might be, and never add on unnecessary stuff, if anything is optional, I always feel that it is clearly explained so I can make the best choice for Rubys health and my wallet. All of the staff are always so wonderful and helpful, and clearly care about all of their patients. I've never had anything close to a bad experience with them.
