I had a long, unsightly scar that was visible at the back of my head when I get a haircut using anything shorter than a #4. I even tried FUE implants into the scar and it didn't do a thing. So looked like SMP was my last hope to get back some more haircut options. I searched high and low. Found a certain super well-marketed and reputed SMP place which shall remain unnamed, and they we booked solid for several weeks. So damn glad I didn't end up going with them, because SMP generally requires a few sessions, so it would take ages if I went with them, and they charge a hefty premium. So I found a few others, who all seemed to be part of some SMP ring, and of varying repute. Finally, I found David, and gave him a call. Super chill guy, and gave me a thorough understanding of how SMP works. Booked the appointment, and same day, had my first SMP session. All things told, it takes time. In my case, I think something like 6 sessions. I was worried along the way. After my first 4 sessions, I still would go for #2 or #2.5 haircuts to prep the area, and the scar was noticeable. But like magic, when I got my last session, the scar just was no longer there after a #2.5 haircut. Still got one last session anyway to darken it. TLDR version... you're getting top tier quality at an outstanding value (other places that charge more, you're just paying for their marketing, and those who charge less, I doubt they can do this as well as David), I had a FUT scar, and he kept reassuring me it would take a few sessions, and eventually, even a #2 cut would be ok. The final session made be a believer. Seems like his SMP sessions was an example of the law of amplifying returns, where the improvements session to session were most noticeable toward the end. I turned 50 last year and have been bald since my late 20's, I just shaved it daily because it's better to look like Curly than Larry....but then I found out about SMP and did a year of research to see if it looked half as good as I thought it did. David is truly an artist when it comes to this. You don't want to go to just some tattoo guy. There's an art to how deep you go as well as the shading of the skin and then the larger dots that are created to make it look like hair. I have a pretty gnarly scar from a hair transplant, he was able to make that match the surrounding skin as well as look like hair was coming out of the scar, it looks better by probably about 80%. No one has asked me about that scar in years! I mean the best part for me is that it made me look about 10 years younger, the Yelp photo that I currently have in my profile is after I got the micro pigmentation done, and that whole area used to look bald, like shiny. I did this, started going to the gym, got my fashion in order, got a little bit of under-eye filler...and I truly destroyed the dating apps. Annihilated them. Not that chicks are totally shallow, but when you are just looking at pictures on these apps, it makes sense they'd want to pick someone who looks young and vibrant. hair transplants are going to cost anywhere from 5 to 15 grand, if you go to Mexico they're going to plant a horse tail in your head, you're going to need more than one of them because your old hair still falls out, and you're going to have an ugly scar.... If you're interested in getting an SMP procedure I urge you to schedule a meeting with David. He's very easy to talk to and doesn't try and pressure you into having the procedure done but rather educates you on what it is, how it works and exactly what you should expect to get out of it. When he explained to me what his technique was it made me feel very reassured about going through with it. He is very careful and skilled starting off light and then filling in areas that need more ink over a series of sessions. This way he can perfect the look you want gradually. David is a very professional tattoo artist, I was extremely happy with his work. He was patient, professional and gave me a new lease on life. He gave me my life back by giving me confidence with a new look. His studio was clean, modern and has a great vibe. It was so helpful to be able to watch a movie while he works his magic. Life changing! If you're tired of being the "bald guy", go to Dave. He is one of the best SMP artists in the world! I spent some time researching the best SMP artists out there and eventually narrowed it down to Dave who is in Southern California. After contacting him, he started off by doing a photoshop mock-up of what it would look like on my head using a photo I sent him of my scalp. On my first visit we discussed where I wanted my hairline and he drew that line in white pencil before getting to work. It took several visits because I am very, very bald but it was absolutely worth it. Dave is a true professional and will work with you and what you want.
