We finally got a chance to try this new coffee shop in the Northland. I still have some downtown favorites that I will travel to, but for a place that's not too far a drive, this is a great new option. I got my usual Mocha (this time iced). It was Ok. It could be that I've started getting tired of too much syrup in drinks and this was one of those times. If I visit again, I'll make sure and request they only do half the amount of syrup. Otherwise, this is a cute little shop with friendly staff. I'd be interested in trying some of their teas next time, as they did have a great selection of teas as well. read more

The reviews said this place was good. And with the crowd that arrived when I did, I knew they were popular. And the verdict is that it is GREAT coffee. I had the Vanilla Rush (an upscale vanilla latte, and a good price). They were out of gluten-free fresh treats, but they still had some prepackaged GF items. And to be fair, the crowds before me had nearly emptied the fresh goodies trays. Definitely a place to come to for good coffee. They also sell their roasted beans there for those who want to do fresh coffee at home and aren't as lazy as me with a Kuerig. read more

Headrush Roasters is a new (4 months old) Northland coffee spot that is a fighting for the #1 spot in my coffee lovin' heart! A friend and I chatted the owner up for a good 5 or so minutes and found out SO much. First of all, they roast their own coffees which they sell by the pound. You can pick your coffee and roast style and in 6 short minutes walk out with fresh roast coffee for home. The owners wife is from China and selects their teas, which are HEAVEN to smell and look at, so I can only guess they taste wonderfully good. I will have to try some soon. I ordered an iced cinnamon dolce latte (not to be confused in any way with a similarly named item at a certain chain coffee shop). It was perfectly creamy cinnamon with not a hint of bitterness. They have a small baked goods case which was full of carb yummies they make all themselves. The oatmeal raisin cookie was soft oatmeal-y goodness with a hint of cinnamon. What may be the best of all...in my opinion...is they have a Drive-Thru. Check my past reviews...I love a Drive-Thru! P.S. I was so impressed with the owner's coffee expertise and local coffeehouse knowledge ("Oh yes, the tall blonde guy from the Zona Latteland moved to the Briarcliff location and the new girl hasn't been trained well yet. I'd give her a little while and try to go back. Don't write them off yet." he says to us. That's Gracious with a capital G) that I am forced to withdraw my complaint that the website used the term "Belgium waffle" instead of Belgian waffle. The service was a bit lacking but the matcha latte was one of the best I've ever had! And I'm a bit of a green tea snob. And we met some really neat customers. The atmosphere was great. We loved the Tardis uke. read more

Magically delicious! Have the Head Rush. They display the raw beans and they sell the only tea leaves I have wanted to buy outside of China. Today they had beautiful jasmine buds! Friendly father and son and a Saturday mornng banjo player. Worth any drive. read more

Such sweet staff. We found ourselves stranded nearby with car problems and Headrush popped up in our google search for coffee. We walked in this morning (Sunday) and there was a guitarist playing acoustic background music. Headrush makes an exceptional cup of coffee, latte, and even take home roasted beans. I really enjoy my monthly visits to Headrush. Only thought to make it even better, update the interior to a more coffee house atmosphere, maybe with leather chairs and dim the lights more. This place has a few seats inside, but well worth enjoying a Headrush in a ceramic mug. read more

Hands down the best coffee in kc. Want to know why there's no Starbucks near it on North oak? Stop in and find out. Head Rush is my personal favorite specialty drink but the rest are just as good. No burnt coffee taste, never scolding hot with no flavor, just good premium coffee for a comparable price. read more

Had a blueberry matcha bubble tea - wonderful flavors & fragrance as a result of being from scratch opposed to using pre-made mixes as generally found in bubble tea places. I am a huge coffee fan too & cannot wait to come back to try their coffee. 1 star deduction on the bubble texture (a little hard), but the tea flavor itself is a solid 5 stars! read more

I always seek out local coffee shops and roasters so that I don't have to stop in over at Crapbucks...The staff were busy, knowledgeable and very courteous. I was getting ready to head out on the road and was able to fill up my mug and thermos. Their coffee is top notch. I've been 3 times and service is hit or miss. The first time, they were not very friendly but the matcha was very good. The second time a gentleman, the owner, was wonderful. He gave me a punch card which the employees failed to do the first time and told me about his business which you can tell he takes a lot of pride in. And the last time, I was not acknowledged or greeted for some time even though there were 2 employees and just one customer, myself. I believe that they need some work on customer service. read more

This past week was my first visit to Headrush. What a delightful place. The service was friendly and efficient. I ordered an iced americano, which is not the easiest espresso beverage to make well. My drink was perfect. The owner stopped by our table to share some information about the beans, blends and teas. While we had our drinks I purchased a pound of green Ethiopian Sidano beans to be roasted while we waited. We brewed the coffee the next morning in a french press and it was superb! And it was just like the description on the beans stated. Headrush was terrific! read more

Coming off an early AM flight to Kansas City we were looking for a great espresso and Google led us to Headrush coffee shop. We arrived and the friendly owner and barista greeted us with smiles. The cold brew is spectacular and our other beverage, a tall iced americano equally good. They have a small selection of housemade pastries, chocolate and energy bars. They were kind enough to tell us about the Longboard Wrap Shop just down the road when we told them we were looking for food for the road- we were nit disappointed. I went yesterday & their coffee was, as ALWAYS, SUPERB!! I got a nice Blueberry Scone to go with my Decafe Soy Latte. Their coffee is good enough you don't need sugar (unless you're a sugar addict...then nothing can help you). The flavor is rich & full bodied with ZERO bitterness!! This is what happens when a coffee company is COOL ENOUGH to "roast their own beans on site"!! The Blueberry Scone was DEVINE; made just like a traditional scone is supposed to be, without any nasty icing on it. The Blueberries supplied the majority of the minimal amount of sweetness required to be a "real scone"!! GREAT JOB, as always Head Rush!! read more
