This is my first Yelp review. New to Los Angeles and a physician, I researched more than one dozen photographers and came across Q via his Yelp recommendations. There are many reasons why working with Q was an excellent, streamlined experience. He was prompt in responding to emails and it was easy to set up time for our shoot (he was forgiving of my impossibly busy MD schedule); the studio was clean and easy to navigate; his prices and options were clear and reasonable. I was concerned I would look too dramatic or actor-ly: when I voiced those concerns Q was reassuring and understood the goals for the product. Q really made my photo session an incredible experience. His direction kept me comfortable allowing him to capture a variety of shots. Q knows the business and knows how to capture the look you want to express. It was hard for me to choose from the selection of photos he gave me. He sent me the album the day of, and two days after I made my retouch selections, he sent the finished photos back. I will definitely book him for my next shoot. Also, as an African American woman, I wanted two looks: one with curly, natural hair and the other with straight hair. He was willing to shoot my first look, allow me to go to my salon to get my hair done, then shoot my second look. I first learned of Quavondo after complimenting a few actors on their headshots (I'm a casting director). Turns out, it was no coincidence that my favorite headshots were taken by the same photographer. I guess you could say it was a Q-incidence. You will really be able to see his range of talent. I have now personally worked with him on nearly four occasions. First I suggested Q for an Executive photoshoot for my company. He was non stop professional from the location scout to the day of the shoot. I requested that he bring in all the "bells and whistles" and he delivered! It was a slightly larger scale shoot so he even brought in an assistant who was equally professional. The shoot consisted of 5 executive Headshots and 2 lifestyle looks for our President. Even more impressive than the shoot itself, was the turn around time. I had the edited images almost immediately after I confirmed our selections. Our second shoot was when I accompanied a friend. My friend needed to update his acting shots. It was no question of who he was going to hire. Again, Q worked his magic and WOWZA did my friend get his money worth! We did 5 looks in total and each look is exceptional. He really captured the character scope we were aiming for. one of the best parts about working with Q is the effortless proof selecting. He uploads your images to HeadshotsbyQ and password protects your images. That way you can easily get opinions from those who matter, agents, family, friends etc... without having to gather everyone around a DVD of images. Welcome to the future, I don't know why more photographers aren't doing this. Our third shoot was on the set of Stilettos and Steel. He was able to capture all of the Behind the Scenes like a Ninja. Quavondo is a consummate professional who is very good at what he does. I was never good with pictures but Quavondo knows how to get the best out of you and gives you the time and patience you need to get a wide variety of shots that you can pick and choose from. When I first met with him he took me to some locations around his business which he was very knowledgeable about. He never rushed me and let me do the different ideas I had in mind. We searched on yelp for all the possible headshot service in LA area, and finally selected Quavondo. His price is a little higher, but you get what you paid for. The whole service was nothing but pure professional, and he images he generated were stunning. While he made me look professional, he also made me skinner which is what I have been dreaming about. Also, since I had a time constrain, he was able to generate the final images in one day after I selected the images for him to work on. Quavondo has by far given me my best head shots. I'm a young actress and model, I've shot with A LOT of photographers. With his photos I've been going out for more auditions than I ever have before. He's very easy to work with and gives you great direction! Shooting headshots is very different from shooting anything else, so hearing him give me correct direction was great and reassuring. He has an awesome attention to detail which is so important to me.
