Her treatments were a million times more effective then anything I had tried in the previous 6 years for my back problems. All the usual HMO options were completely ineffective. My back has been problem free for over a year now and I truly feel I have Melissa to thank for this. What I'm eternally grateful to Melissa for is her Smoking Cessation plan. I had been a pack a day smoker for over 15 years. I truly thought I would never be able to quit. She questioned us a lot on what we already knew to lead us to the answer, and let us know the history of acupuncture and the mechanism of it all. Acupuncture is very interesting and I always thought about getting it done since I'm always so tense! I enjoyed her presentation, and she gave us all a little treatment depending on what we said was bothering us or had bothered us. I said that my neck and shoulder was bothering me and she put several filaments onto my hand, and I'm not sure if it's a placebo effect or if it really works, but my neck has no pain right now. I will be getting a free consultation to talk about my problems and see if acupuncture therapy will be the right thing for me!

I started seeing Madir about a month ago for chronic migraines. I suffer a migraine almost every…read moreday, and had neck and shoulder pain and tension the rest of the time. Though I had one week of improvement, I have not seen any gains in migraines. I do not blame Madir for this: acupuncture does not work for everyone and migraines are toughies. However, my shoulder tension is much better: go to her for that, no doubt. Madir pays exceptional close attention to my individual acupuncture needs. I have gone to several acupuncture clinics in the past without much result. She customizes her treatment for my daily needs, and changes her treatments mid session according to my responses. I get constant attention. She also offers a variety of different, more advanced Chinese medicine techniques for migraines, neck and shoulder tension at a reasonable price. However, I find her manner to be extremely stressful. She constantly changes appointment times and once forgot an appointment entirely. She kept trying to force paraphernalia magnets and calendars with her face and practice info on me for my "friends and family", despite my repeated reminders that she'd already given me plenty. She pushes up-charged services and herbs on an almost visit-by-visit basis. Her belief in Chinese medicine is so great she pressured me to change huge aspects of my life: go gluten free, go cold turkey on all Rx medications (***which isn't safe!***), imbibe massive numbers of Chinese herbs, etc. She kept telling me to bring in my husband for acupuncture, but he doesn't have any health problems. She repeatedly asked me to write her a positive Yelp review. She asked about my bowel movements all the time (and nothing's wrong with them!). Overall I found her stressful and unprofessional to deal with. She accused me to missing three appointments when I'd had to cancel one because of a migraine so bad I could not drive. She shares a building with a chiropractor whom she is "pretending doesn't exist" because of a quarrel. Watching her play the silent game with him while he was an affable person (whom I also saw) was just sad. But, to her credit, she gave him a positive recommendation when I asked. In the past, I've found acupuncture to be a relaxing and effective treatment. I think that the relaxing atmosphere has a lot to do with the effectiveness. In this case, she grated on my nerves and sensibilities so much that I wonder if she counteracted her own medicine. I think that if she could chill out, she would make a much more effective acupuncturist. I also expect to hear from her about this review [rolls eyes].
