We moved here in Dec 2024 and needed to find a new vet asap bc our kitty was quickly declining from something we absolutely could not pin point. After so many tests and visits forest heights vet diagnosed Sasquatch with cushings disease, of course my cat was the 1 in a million case! I feel like all the staff there has been so supportive and genuinely love all of my pets like they are their own. I honestly could not have asked for a better veterinary team to take care of my fur babies. They always go the extra mile and would even just call to see how my kitty was doing. My husband and I are exploring moving to a different neighborhood when our current lease is up and we both agreed even if we move further away, we would continue to bring our other pets to forest heights vet. Wow! If I could give this clinic 10 stars I would! My cat Bagheera came down with an upper respiratory infection which turned into asthma and pneumonia. He is only six years old and has never once showed signs of breathing issues in the past. This was an extremely emotional, and scary experience, as I was terrified for my cat's life. I spoke with a wonderful girl named Marissa at Forest Heights veterinarian clinic and she made me feel so comfortable. I had been currently going to Banfield Pet Hospital for the last 3 1/2 years until this last recent experience. I was unhappy with the inconsistency of Doctor care. Every time I took my cats to Banfield I was constantly seeing a new doctor. Since my cat was extremely sick, Banfield was not giving me the reassurance I needed to properly make a decision on what I needed to do with him to save his life. I felt as if the situation on Banfield's end was not taken seriously enough. Therefore, I sought out a new clinic ( Forest Heights Veterinarian Clinic). When speaking with Marissa at Forest Heights Vet clinic and seeking her professional opinion, I felt like she knew what to do immediately in this situation. She had me email her videos of my cat's breathing in order to assess the right care he needed in that moment. As she assessed the severity of my cat's medical condition she thought it best, he be admitted to Dove Lewis emergency pet hospital immediately. They could provide oxygen chamber treatments, IV fluids, medicines, and around the clock care for this particular emergency. He was there for 4 1/2 days on oxygen treatment. Dr. Tracy Mento is the head Veterinarian of Forest Heights vet clinic and she is an incredible person. You meet her and you can instantly tell she is passionate about what she does. You can tell how much she loves animals and how easily, with little to no effort it takes for her to connect with them. She cares so much about her patients (animals and humans), and to me that is someone who makes an extraordinary Doctor. She took the time to look at videos of Bagheera and could immediately assess what his condition was without physically seeing the patient. She knows her stuff! She also assured me that the best decision I made was taking him to Dove Lewis to be on oxygen. Almost two weeks later I went to Dr. Mento for Bagheera's check up and he has improved remarkably. My other kitty Boo is happy Bagheera is home and on the mend. I am so happy that I have found a highly talented, skilled, and compassionate, Veterinarian. I really love the service I get at Forest Heights; I've been taking my cat (and now 2 cats!) here for several years now. I live nearby, so the quick car trip with my anxious cats is certainly appreciated, but the staff is also very attentive and responsive. Because of my work schedule, it's often difficult for me to be able to call during business hours, but I can send them an email and I always get a response quickly, usually within 1-2 hours of them opening the following morning. I believe I've seen most, if not all, of the vets there and haven't had any bad experiences. They are all thorough and knowledgeable. My pet emergencies unfortunately always seem to fall after-hours, prompting me to go to Tanasbourne Veterinary Emergency, but the follow up afterward with Forest Heights has always been great, as has the maintenance/preventative care. They were recommended to me by a colleague's wife (a fellow "crazy cat lady") and I haven't regretted taking her recommendation one bit. They helped our 18+ year old senior cat, Catdog, get the very most out of his final years and months with us. This clinic recently would not prescribe meds for our cats until we brought BOTH cats in since the doctor prescribing was not the vet that saw them a few months before - aren't they the same clinic, and colleagues and shared med records? Felt very ripped off. Previous experience too with unsure diagnosis, very expensive with no results. Wishy washy staff, not reassuring. They just did not give us confidence and still sick cat. We went across the street to Banfield - Amazing! Dr Carson is spot-on and no matter what, a sick animal is expensive but they have great medical plans and are very sincere in not trying to upsell you. We feel informed now and trust. Not only is the staff extremely competent, but they are always willing to answer all your questions and explain all treatments, without making you feel rushed or bothersome. I brought my cat and dog here while I lived in Portland and if I move back, I would definitely return. When I brought my foster animals here, the staff at Forest Heights was so good with these pets as well, and always patient with me as I was new to fostering and still learning about medical care for cats. What really won me over initially at this clinic, was the fact that the technicians were able to handle my very grumpy cat, who gets stressed out very easily. They were able to restrain her for a procedure, and when I got her back, she was only slightly annoyed, rather than panting and extremely distressed, as I've seen her get at other places...AMAZING. (And for reference, "slighty annoyed" is this cat's default mood). Now, I work in the veterinary field, and my experience and "inside view" only confirms my opinion of this clinic. This review is for my experience over the last month In lockdown- I've had a few concerns over my dog's health during this time and the staff, Naomi in particular, have been extremely helpful with over-the-phone consultations. They have called back very promptly after talking to the vets and I've felt very taken care of, and like they really cared about finding a plan of action to get my dog feeling better. She asked really thorough questions and covered all bases. And keeping in mind these consults are free. My grandson, age 10, was gifted with a "Shadow the Vet" experience and I had the good fortune to shadow him. Pam, the Office Manager, has developed an intelligent, hands-on series of activities intended to familiarize the visitor with all aspects of this practice. 2 surgeries were scheduled, both of which we were able to observe from the patients' walking around, being anesthetized, surgical procedure, and, for one, return to consciousness. Studying x-rays (what do you think the problem is; what animal is this, "that's an air pocket in the intestine") and even creating his own X-ray and developing it left a favorable impression. The #1 activity, hands down, was getting to 'draw blood' from a model of a good-sized dog's leg. Watching Dr Wilson operate, talking with Dr Opfel, making friends with Lola, the office cat, being carefully and thoroughly taught by Pam, and being able to ask questions helped make this a day to be remembered. I'm not someone that believes in check up for pets, but when I noticed an issue with my pet that wasn't going away I called figuring mind as well not give into the corporate piece of Banfield and support local. I'm so glad I went. They addressed the issue promptly and were very transparent with pricing, exactly why I usually dread the vet. The staff and Doctors are always very compassionate towards your pets even if your pet isn't always nice. They have been there with me through the hardest times and sat and cried with me. Even if I need advice they have been there to help. If they don't have an answer they will do whatever they can to find one or to research other options. I find the vets to be extremely knowledgeable about both dogs and cats alike. Blood work results come to me within 24 hours with a personal phone call from the vet herself; the office is always tidy, clean and inviting, the vet technicians really know their stuff and are always willing to spend extra time explaining things to you and they do good work for the community in placing homeless kittens into loving homes. We have been long time customers at Forest Heights Clinic. We have an active German Shorthaired Pointer who has had her share of scrapes -- dog bites requiring stitches from the dog park, spear wounds from sticks she's chased into the ravine, discomfort in the bowels due to water she swims in, and lots of active dog issues. As others have said in their reviews, we have always received prompt, loving, and knowledgeable care from EVERYONE at Forest Heights Clinic. We know the staff members by name. We appreciate their understanding of our dog. Each animal is unique to the staff, and they take the time to get to know their patients. In our dog's case, she is tough as nails in the outdoors, but she is a big sissy about getting her nails trimmed. FH staff members know how to handle their patients -- to put them at ease or to manage their fears. We agree with others ... we'd never go anywhere else.
