DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST. I saw Dr. Salaveria at Healing Hands Dental recently for a cleaning. During the cleaning, the hygienist and Dr. Salaveria spent a total of perhaps 8 minutes in my mouth. I have never in my life had anyone 'clean' my teeth so incredibly quickly. Since in the past, my dentist/hygienists have always spent a minimum of 30-40 minutes doing a teeth cleaning, this made me concerned that Dr. Salaveria was cutting corners (perhaps because I'm on Delta HMO). They took Xrays and photos of my teeth BEFORE the cleaning. Dr S. Never looked at my Xrays and told me, by looking quickly at the photos that I had two cavities. They wanted to fill right away. I did not feel comfortable having someone drill in my mouth after a mere 8 minutes 'cleaning' and not even looking at the Xrays. I wanted to get a second opinion before having him fill my cavities. I just returned from a second opinion. Not only did she take photos and show me that the photos from Dr S looked SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT than the photos she took, she also confirmed that I do not have cavities. She said that I do have a little staining, but it's not nearly as bad as what's represented in the photo from Dr S's office (was it a fake photo? did he take the photo before cleaning? I don't know what happened here but it's really shady). Dr. S and his assistants are kind, but I wouldn't not trust them with my teeth. I feel convinced from this experience that at least with their Delta HMO patients they are cutting corners and possibly doing much shadier business than just that. Interestingly, if you look through the reviews here, there are two others (with HMO) who report similar things. I wonder if the positive reviews are from non-HMO patients. read more

Have had dental work done by Dr. Salaveria for the past 6 years and have always been given 5 start treatment. He cares about his patients and backs up all his work. To give you an idea of the type of person he is, the profits he and his wife Rose spend building a shelter for children in TOGO to protect them from trafficking. I went here because of the reviews and they were listed as a provider on my insurance. I have never spent less than 45 minutes getting my teeth cleaned, but I was only in the dental chair for 10-12 minutes getting a cleaning. No hygienist, the Dr cleaned my teeth so fast I was shocked. Then his assistant supposedly polished my teeth but without the use of any polishing gel, and just as quickly as the dentist had been. I was so concerned I went back to my previous dentist, who is not available on my insurance plan, and the hygienist immediately saw tarter on my teeth. I called and asked the Dr at Healing Hands about this his only response was that he did what he was suppose to do. I believe because I have an HMO he did the bare minimum. Be aware if you're cleaning is done in the same manner you are not getting a though cleaning which can lead to additional problems. read more

My last experience at the dentist was as an uninsured individual about 6-8 years ago and I went to Western Dental. After almost 2 hours in their chair for 2 fillings and they had only gotten one of them done, I walked out of the office and never looked back. A few years went by and all of a sudden one of my molars caved in and I knew I had to get it taken care of. I now have insurance through my work and found Dr. Salaveria through their list of network providers. I saw all the positive reviews here on Yelp (and no negative ones...) and thought it was too good to be true but figured I would give them a shot. Best decision I ever made! This is by far the best dentist experience I could have dreamed of. I had about 6 fillings done in less time than it took the Western Dental folks to do one. Not to mention he is very gentle and uses different techniques to make me comfortable since I have severe issues with my TMJ. I can almost fall asleep in his chair. They referred me out for two root canals (which have to be done by a specialist, and who they referred me to was also equally amazing) at this point and I have had one crown put in by them and will be having another crown done shortly. I can honestly say that I look forward to getting the work done with them. ....well... as much as anyone can look forward to dental work that is. Bottom line: The reviews speak for themselves! We have been going to Dr. Salaveria at Healing Hands for 3yrs. We have no dental insurance so pay out of pocket & they so generously have a plan for people like us. I guess it is kind of like insurance! Anyway, the dentist is a very kind man. He is very thorough. Some negative reviews state he does not take 30-40 min to look for problems. It should not take 40 min to examine your teeth! He did an excellent job & explained the issues with my teeth in an understandable way. He took xrays & the Dental Assistant flossed & polished my teeth with some polishing compound. Several year ago I went to a lady dentist in Clayton who had me the chair for 2hrs. taking pictures & doing all this crazy stuff with special, expensive equipment. Two hours! We went to Dr. Salaveria for a 2nd. opinion. The lady dentist wanted to do a bunch of crowns that Dr. Salaveria said were absolutely NOT necessary. He could have said, "Yes, you need them," & made a ton of money, but he is ethical & told me the truth! I didn't need any crowns! So be careful in judging a dentist by the time he spends with you! I know that lady dentist had to pay for her expensive equipment with the 5 crowns she said I needed! Healing Hands is a family owned practice. Rose is his wife & she is a lovely woman. Give them a try & look at the other reviewers who posted negative reviews. Just click on their names. Most of them like to post mostly negative reviews! My appointment for a check up and cleaning at Healing Hands Dental Group was the best experience I have ever had at a dental office. They completely changed the way I perceive dental visits. The staff was nice and initially I had a good experience, then I needed a bridge and they tried to put one in that didn't match the color of my teeth, when the new one came it was a better color match, but even with going back for adjustments, it is slightly longer than the same tooth on the other side. read more

This dentist is by far the best one I have ever been to. Joey and his wife Rose are the most wonderful comforting people around. I came to the dentist after years of bad dentists and practices with some pretty large items that I needed to have done. They make every step of the process easy and comfortable. Just one example of the kind of people they are. The doctor had to replace two front teeth crowns I had done on me. The first temporary he did left me feeling terrible. I left there crying uncontrollably. Even though I knew it was only a temporary I couldn't believe how it looked. Rose called me within 20 minutes of me leaving and told me to come back cause her and the doctor felt terrible that I was so upset. I went back in and he completely revamped the temp even if it was only for a short while. Which as it turns out it was! Rose had the lab rush order my permanent so four days later I could have it! My permanent is perfect! I am so happy I found this place after years of bad dentists. If you are looking for someone new this is the place!! read more

To bad before today my experience has been fairly good at this dentist.Been here 3 x for major work..Recently he removed my amalgam fillings and replaced 2 with the white fillings.He did not smooth the fillings out good enough the first time so today when i went back to get a permanent crown i asked him to smooth it out so it wouldn't stain as fast so he tried and did get it a tad smoother in the front one and the back but told me that's as good as he can get it...Still not as smooth as tooth.I could tell he was irritated that he had to spend the time doing this even tho it should have been done right the first time......I called a local dentist today and they told me it should be smooth so clearly this guy dropped the ball and now i will have to pay another dentist to do this.Also was charged 1,085 per crown with no metal and just found out i could have got these done locally for 850.00 each at a dentist with great reviews!Same exact crown.I have no insurance so price matters to me....Should have called around before getting these done!Very disappointed and wont be returning. read more

I just called to make an appointment for my son and myself and Rose, the receptionist was very rude. We had our first appointment in March 2016. I paid out of pocket at that visit because their office was not set up with my insurance company. Now that they are, I wanted to bring in my son and myself for a follow up visit but treat it as a first visit, since insurance company will cover 100%. I wanted a Saturday appointment but was advised that the dentist does not do cleanings on Saturday. Saturdays are reserved for more involved treatments. I asked why couldn't the dentist do cleanings and treatments in one visit and was told, that's the dentist's policy. It didn't make sense to me so I asked why and she tells me, I don't have to explain why. Rose kept saying, if you don't like our policy then find another dentist...find another dentist...find another dentist. Seriously, I just wanted an explanation that made sense. If this is how they treat you when you just want an explanation, imagine how they will treat you when you need something serious. I see all the good reviews, but for me, this was the worse customer service. Needless to say, I will find another dentist. Also, they advertise holistic dentistry and that is a lie! read more

From the moment I called, Jessica made me feel comfortable. I was really frightened because I was having some severe sensitivities in my teeth for the first time in my life. I feared that I had multiple cavities. Jessica went out of her way to make me feel comfortable, and got me scheduled right away. Well, my appointment with Dr. Salaveria was FANTASTIC!!!! He helped me understand what was happening with my teeth, and was so kind, efficient, and warm. Most importantly, he didn't try to sell me any dental work! He is honest! He explained that I did not have ANY cavities, and helped me solve the puzzle of what was causing me to loose enamel which was making my teeth extremely sensitive. Noor gave me a great cleaning, and I had no pain whatsoever. She was very careful and gentle with my teeth. Dr. Salaveria is the type of dentist that I have been looking for for many years. My husband and I are going to make him our permanent dentist. His office is beautiful, soothing, incredibly clean. His staff is expertly-trained, efficient, personal and welcoming. I feel more relief than I can express that I found Dr. Salveria's wonderful practice. If you have ever been afraid to see a dentist, relax, and make an appointment, everything will be ok :o) One last note, his pricing was more reasonable than several other dentists in the area. read more
