We have gone here for many years, but one bad experience has changed everything. This November my wife needed a sports massage so I booked her a one at Healing Hands. When she came out of the session she was really disappointed. She told me that the first thing to go wrong was that the masseuse was not aware that it was a sports massage that we had booked and that they didn't perform that kind of massage. As she was already there my wife decided to still go through with the massage. There were specific areas that my wife told the masseuse to focus on. They pretty much ignored her request and only spent around 5 minutes on those problem areas. The combination of not getting the service that we paid for and the fact that the masseuse did not listen to my wife's request (before and during the massage) are reasons enough for us to not return or recommend Healing Hands. read more

Talk about a relaxing massage! As an retired gymnast, my body is feeling the aches and pains of years of constant pounding of my muscles. It goes without saying that deep tissue is my go to for massages, but my issue is always that it doesn't feel deep enough. In my mind, if you aren't literally digging in my skin with a spoon, it's not deep enough. Not here! It's the perfect amount of pressure and I honestly have never felt so relaxed. I've had a couple of deep tissue massages here and one regular Swedish. All of them were relaxing, and even the medium pressure massage had me very relaxed. I hate to post this as I have been a customer for years and even donated to keep the center open during the pandemic, but my experiences here have been extremely frustrating lately. I have had a number of massages canceled last minute (night before or day of) after weeks of waiting for the appointment and then the center exerts no attempt to have them rescheduled. During the most recent cancellation last week, the receptionist who called to cancel my appointment made no attempt to try to reschedule and repeatedly responded to every date that "sorry, everything is booked". When I asked for a therapist who was comparable, she stated that she would check internally and give me a call back but never did. As someone who relies on these massages for general health, it is difficult to continue being a customer when it is this difficult to get an appointment (and not have it canceled). read more

So here's the deal... Since forever I've kind of prided myself on being the 'find the best massage therapist in the world" kind of guy. And I would. I'd listen to referrals, check yelp reviews, burn incense... Whatever it took to find that person with the magic hands. unfortunately, many massage therapists, well they tend to be a sort of gypsy-like folk. Always moving around, disappearing, joining the circus, or whatever it is they do when they disappear. But today I may have found my Tenzing Norgay. I'm not kidding. If I was climbing Everest, I would want Ellisa in my backpack, ready to massage my aches and pains at my every whim. At elevation. In the Himalayas. Forever. Seriously. Now more often than not, when you ask for 'deep tissue,' you tend to get some gorilla handed masochistic Russian ass-whooper beating you up for an hour until you're barely able to get out of bed the next day. Not Ellisa! Her boast of "pain management" was no joke. And to my surprise, while she was working on some seriously troubling spots on my old broken carcass, I wasn't squirming while breathing through the pain like some yoga pant wearing expectant mother in her first Lamaze class just counting the seconds while daydreaming about my next triple shot caramel non-fat whip macchiato. No sir, I was relaxed and literally feeling my sailor-knot ligaments relenting to her magical touch like Kobe beef trotting toward the eternal sleep at the hands of sense, Japanese chef san. Upon reaching the end of a mere 60 minutes (I didn't want it to end!) I dressed and walked out in what I imagine looked like a wobbly malaise like the walk-of-shame-girls I see stumbling along various avenues of Hollywood with heels in hand early on Sunday mornings. Overall I would like to end in saying I was extremely impressed with Emilly's skills and HIGHLY recommend paying her a visit. Dr. Paul is some kind of genius. I lived in LA for years and suffered from serious back issues that were resistant to treatment. Then I found Dr. Paul. The Activator Method he uses worked wonders for me. No cracking or excessive adjustments. I felt like a different person after walking out of his office the first time. I'll always remember that. I continued to see him periodically, but his goal was to make my visits less and less frequent. Under his care, my back pain subsided completely. I eventually moved to New York City, where I have yet to find another chiropractor nearly as capable as Dr. Paul. Whenever I'm back in LA, I schedule a session with him. We came here to get massages on our anniversary and we had a pleasant experience overall. Upon first walking in, we noticed how clean the place was and were greeted by the friendly front desk staff. Check in was easy and our massage therapists took us right on time. My massage was really nice and I felt really relaxed during and afterwards. My therapist used essential oils and coconut oil and did a wonderful job. The staff here is really kind and genuine and the facility itself is tremendously clean and tranquil. The only complaint I have is that the walls are quite thin, so during my massage I could hear conversations and movement. It didn't ruin my massage, but something I definitely noticed. They always check in with me about how I'm doing, what's going on with me, and what kind of massage I want. And unlike a lot of spa/massage places, I feel like I actually get what I ask for. I found Healing Hands when I moved to Hollywood in 2012. I needed a chiropractor at the time and Dr. Paul Methot was the answer. Time and time again Dr. Paul has saved my back. He takes his time with patients to make sure their needs are addressed. He never over-promises or needlessly reschedules you. He tells you to come back when you need him, or the occasional follow-up for particularly bad injuries. He worked seamlessly with Dr. Rochan Olson (the acupuncturist at the time), as they teamed up to address my back, feet, migraines, and everything in between. (I have not met the current acupuncturist, but would whole-heartedly trust a healing hands employee). I also recently had two massages with Bo and she was WONDERFUL! I wish it hadn't taken me so long to find her! She was cognizant of my pressure preference throughout the massage and fixed a painful shoulder problem that had persisted for a month! Time and time again, I called Healing Hands in emergency situations. I once cried in the waiting room when my neck was stuck looking left and in excruciating pain. The massage therapist told me the injury was too acute to work on that day, Dr. Paul was out, and I didn't know what I would do. Almost all at once everyone swooped in to help. They brought me cold water, and James (I believe... it was a few years ago...) helped me into the massage room, covered my neck and shoulders in ice packs and helped me to relax and find some relief in lieu of a massage. Everyone was so kind and patient. I would also like to shout out to Suzy and the entire front desk staff for their kindness and welcoming each and every time I came in and on the phone making appointments. You're all wonderful! In June 2018 I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (bone marrow/white blood cell cancer). I underwent radiation followed by chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant in late January 2019. This left me with severe neuropathy (nerve pain) in my feet, and taking nerve pain medication. Someone recommend acupuncture, so I contacted Healing Hands in Larchmont Village snd Dr. Rochan Olson about four months ago. After almost 20 sessions involving acupuncture and TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) I can say I believe Dr. Rochan's treatments have reduced my nerve pain and reliance on prescription nerve pain medications. I've been to the Larchmont and 3rd street locations many times. I see Dr. Paul for chiropractic and Meredith & Dodi for massage. I am a verrrry discerning and experienced massagee, might I add. I will tell you that Dodi offers one of the more incredible DEEP tissue massages in town and I do mean DEEP. Her pressure is truly amazing. On the down side....honestly you cannot stop this woman from talking during your massage to save her own life. I dunno why and if it weren't for that I would give a full 5 stars to her alone, however...she's a chatterbox!! I've tried to quiet this woman politely by saying I just wanna sleep, hand a long day, don't wanna talk, etc. That only works for about 5 minutes for some strange reason. Still I see her when I'm in pain and need deep tissue work done. On to the wonderful Meredith. This woman's massage leaves you feeling like a bonghit afterwards. Really, you feel like a walking bonghit once you drunkenly peel yourself off her table. It's just amazing. I will say that in my first couple massages, Meredith talked a lot, too, but in subsequent massages I realized that if I just told her I needed quiet time, she was great! On to the fabulously gifted Dr. Paul. He uses something called an activator and he actually 'cured' my sciatica in two sessions! This is my oasis. My Fortress of Solitude. My Sanctum Sanctorum. I try to treat myself to massages at Healing Hands at least twice a year - on my birfday (Nov - Scorpio in the hizz-ouse) and on my un-birfday (May-ish). The place is clean and serene (without being sterile), and quite affordable ($55/hr). You can take a shower there (tho I never have) and they play pleasant new agey music thru-out the whole thing. Lauren at the front desk was very sweet. I had the hour massage ($55) and am thinking I should have gone for the 1.5 hour massage. IT FELT SO GOOD. She was attentive in that she would ask if the pressure was too much. NO KEEP GOING. I can say that I am a bit sore BUT IN A GOOD WAY. I can now move my neck and bend with little tension discomfort. I went in and had a massage from Chris -- he was great and made me feel really comfortable, was very professional, and worked the heck out of the knots in my back. It was a great way to relax for the price, especially on short notice. I would definitely go back again if I needed someone to work out the tension in my back quickly. They have a great front desk person and all the beds and rooms are very clean! Parking is very easy to find too. I recommend Sandy and Nikki if they still work there :) When I find myself in need of a massage, I call Healing Hands! They are also opening up a new location on Crescent Heights. When I developed a crippling sinus infection, I decided it was time to try acupuncture. As fate (and the body's natural alignment) would have it, a pinched nerve in my neck flared up in pain around the same time. Wasn't I lucky, then, to find Healing Hands, which has acupuncture, chiropractic care, and massage all in one cozy establishment? The atmosphere is much like the television show Private Practice, with the multiple holistic practices, mellow interior, and upbeat energy of the staff. I received all my treatments on the same day. First was acupuncture with Tamara. After a friendly chat about my health, the amount of driving in Los Angeles, and animals (I told you they were friendly!), she stuck needles in my ears, belly, arms, and on either side of my nose. She then turned on a heat lamp, and I rested for twenty minutes. After treatment, she prescribed me some herbs, and off I went. I didn't feel a difference right away, but on my way home a point along my nose where there had been a needle began to pulse, and suddenly the entire infected sinus cavity drained! By the time I went for my chiropractic session that evening, the pain and swelling were gone. I've seen several chiropractors over the years. This is the first time I've walked out of the office feeling like I had a new body. The technique used is the 'Activator Method", involving a "gun" that presses the joint back in to place. This is a common chiropractic technique; what impressed me was how intuitive and helpful Dr. Methot was. I only needed to squeeze a fist to unearth misaligned joints. I trusted I was in knowledgeable hands. The best part? New patients get a free 30 minute massage. So guess what I did after my joints adjustment? Relieved my aching muscles, of course! The massage therapist focused on my neck and shoulders, and afterward I felt relaxed and loopy. Really, how can anyone complain of a massage on their neck and shoulders? Having tried their three major treatments (Healing Hands also offers nutrition counseling), I highly recommend them. I went to HH's Larchmont location in pain from head to toe, and walked out with a new body. First visits will cost you about $100+, depending on your treatment, with reduced prices for follow-ups.
