Cliquey vibes, thinly veiled weight loss challenges, and impersonal staff. I also received unsolicited "health" advice from one of the instructors claiming regular yoga (not physical therapy, which I stated works for me) would fix my chronic back condition. I came here for a few months in 2021 before realizing it wasn't the space for me. I'm sure it works for some people, but I wasn't one of them. The slower, less intense classes fill up and the hot yoga classes were nice but often too fast paced for me without any talk of adjustments for different bodies or abilities. I wouldn't recommend for most people I know. read more

Rude and Racist staff ( do not recommend this place) I have enrolled into Tribalance 3 days ago for Hot Yoga classes. Today when I went for the 12 pm class the staff would not let me in saying I was late by 10 min and asked me to come back later in the evening for next class. I tried reason with them explaining that I am not able to come back and I do understand that I was late and will try to be more punctual in the future. But the woman at checkin counter did not let me in, even when your printed brochure has 15 min grace period. When I was at the office on time yesterday she was on the call for 10 min and did not check me in, I was waiting for her to get off the phone so she can check me in to the class. I had told her earlier also that I have medical reasons and therefore have scheduled to join this class as it works best with my schedule Infact the same woman gave me wrong information previously when I had gone to enquire about Hot Yoga and mentioned that I am going through Menopause, she told me to not go for Hot Yoga as it may cause more issue and instead I should try acupuncture. When I was on time yesterday I still saw people walking in after the class has begun, this is clearly a racial profiling and discremination by your staff against me and its not that I am coming in for free. I am a paying customer. But the staff clearly made me feel unwelcome because of my race. I had a very distressing experience and definitely did not leave a good taste. I will not recommend anyone to join this place ever. read more

Tribalance yoga is an exceptional studio that offers not only outstanding yoga classes, but also top notch fitness classes , workshops , acupuncture and so much more. Hi, I have been a member at Tribalance Studio for 5 years, I love the people who work there and I love the environment the studio brings. The classes are amazing. 5 years ago, I had an issue with my health, after taking these incredible classes: Yoga, Boxing, Rush Hour and now Pilates, my body feels stronger and healthier. Took a boxing class for the first time. Just what I was looking for. 15 minute warm up got the heart going. This was followed with throwing punches at a partner holding focus mitts. Class ended with simple yoga stretches. Ernesta was a great instructor. This class is a fun alternative to traditional workout. Highly recommend. read more

Years ago a friend took me to a class at Tri balance and I loved it! It was just "too far" I thought! In January of this year the same friend Amy S gave my husband a gift (for coaching her son) certificate here for a month unlimited....so I joined him! We have enjoyed it so much!! I am 50 and needing to be gentler in my body than I have been for the past many years. I like a good sweat and a challenging workout like the next guy....you get this all the while learning to breathe, slow down your heart rate, be good to yourself, stretch and gain strength. I love Tribalance. I've been attending their classes for more than a month and they've consistently provided great practices. The flows are incredible and challenging, there is always room for warm up and cool down and meditation. I love how the yogis drop nuggets of inspiration and bring a lighter energy to the room. I attended my first yoga ever...a hot yoga session and was very impressed with from start to finish. Even though I was there with a couple friends who had done it before, there was still a level of apprehension on my part. It became clear during the session that the instructor Aneta recognized those of us who were new and was great at helping us adjust to the poses, and helped me to push myself. All in all a great experience. The studio was very clean, and all the staff were helpful from start to finish. I'll definitely be headed back for more sessions. read more

If you've never gone before, prepare yourself before your first time! I almost died! lol My friend I went with definitely did not properly prepare me. Lucky for me, one of the instructors Cory paid me extra attention, pulling me back by him and giving me extra one on one teaching time. He was super nice and definitely made the hot yoga experience for me! I'm such a noob that I wasn't even thinking and wore workout clothes with gym shoes & socks. Everyone takes their shoes off before entering, so I advise just wearing flip flops when you go. The moves seem so simple but doing them in a hot room really makes you sweat! I lovvvved it! I felt so amazing afterwards. It's $10 per session if you're a student, I believe it's $15 if you're not. I will without a doubt be back! read more

TriBalance is hot, hot, hot! I mean, seriously. I checked out this studio for a Yelp it Forward event to benefit Heroes Like Haley, and I'm SO glad I did! I had driven by numerous times, but had never been in for a class. From the outside, because it's in a strip mall, you'd never know how big it is, and how beautiful it is inside! The class was a hot yoga class taught by Cassie. The room was SO hot, like sitting in there before even starting to move was hot, and I was officially drenched by the end of class, in the best way possible. Being a regular hot yoga-goer, I found the class to be challenging enough due to the heat/humidity, but not too hard that beginners would struggle with the poses. Cassie was wonderful too! Really enjoyed the way she led the class! The studio is a good hour from where I live, but I definitely will be back if I'm ever down closer to that area! read more

I recently returned after being away for 5 yrs. Decided to start yoga again after being vaccinated. Its about 30+mins drive for me but it is so worth it. As always, coming here, i get the full benefit of yoga. As soon as i walk in i feel inner peace. Staff is very friendly. Instructors are really good with giving instructions and in guiding you with the poses. Place is clean. The hot yoga room is really spacious. One of the things i like about this place is, during class, they keep the room slightly dim so everyone can focus on themselves and not everyone else around them, also, makes everyone not so self conscious as you are doing the poses. Work has been so stressful on top of everthing else that is going on around us, it's so nice that i have somewhere to go to, to decompress. Also, as a middle-aged person, we need to maintain our strength, and flexibility to avoid debility and injuries. And im getting all that when i go to the classes. I start work the next day and im so energized and ready to face anything that comes my way, also with renewed sense of calmness as i tackle my workday. I love, love, love this place, there is nothing like it. And i always tell everyone about this place and how i love hot yoga. My sister-in-law introduced me to this place and i will be forever thankful to her for making me try hot yoga. Im addicted. During this pandemic, they require mask as you walk in to the facilities, they limit the size of classess to allow social distancing. Tribalance Yoga is the best studio!! I've practiced yoga for over 15 years at different studios in the Chicago Metro area. To say I'm grateful for Tribalance and it's community is an understatement. This locally owned small business has been a staple in the community for over 16 years. They offer a variety of outstanding yoga and fitness classes at every level with very experienced instructors, as well as, staff that go out of their way to make you feel welcome. This studio is my go to for my regular yoga practice. Their classes are cued for beginners but their instructors are knowledgeable enough to offer intermediate to advanced modifications. I always leave challenged and so happy I took class! In my years of practicing here, I've brought many yogi friends along to class and not one has left disappointed! In addition to the excellent yoga and fitness classes, Tribalance Wellness offers top-notch holistic wellness options. Acupuncture is my personal favorite! One word...Joy! She is amazing, and she truly brings joy to those around her. The entire staff at TriBalance is amazing! They are friendly, helpful and encouraging. Ladies at the front desk, Ellen, Maria, Courtney, Christina, Joe & Jeremy and John. They offer a variety of classes from beginner's yoga, to advanced yoga, yin yoga, prenatal yoga, strength & conditioning, barre, kick-boxing!! But there's more! There is an on-site chiropractor, acupuncture and massage are offered, dietary consultation service, they have staff trained in Chinese medicine. Kinga & Hannah are awesome! If it's your first time with yoga, I highly recommend taking a few private yoga lessons with an instructor so that you can get the basic foundation of the poses correct. This will prevent injury and give you confidence. That's what I did and I'm glad that I did! Their prices are comparable, and they promotions throughout the year. There's challenges to participate in if you're looking to motivate yourself. The instructors are all knowledgeable and helpful pointing out corrections to poses or variations for more or less challenges. They are so encouraging, I can't say enough good things about them! It's the most indescribable feeling the first time you realize how strong you have become when hold an effortless/perfect plank -like you are literally floating and without any strain on your body. Or when you are finally able to balance on one leg! Not to mention how flexible you become. Treat yourself. Take care of yourself. Put aside everything and everyone else just for that hour. And leave there every time feeling good about yourself! It's a great escape. You end up becoming physically and mentally stronger. I just saw that I haven't updated since I moved back to the area, and I have to say, no Corey = not as great. There's so much sun salutation repitition happening and so much time spent with your head upside down that I don't feel anything but dizzy. I just don't get the same total body workout, and I miss a lot of the other poses Corey's classes had. It's sad because I want to like the classes, but I haven't gone in a long while because there's not enough variety in the poses for me. Not to say the people aren't great because they are. Just not my kind of yoga studio anymore. read more

I don't know enough about yoga to give this place 5 stars, but I'm certain it isn't far off. That said, I did come here yesterday for a hot yoga class with Becki. Hot as heck. Yeah, and the temperature in the room was pretty hot too. But I did not come here because I knew that there was a hot yoga master who was going to walk around telling me what to do, because I don't like to be domineered, or whatever ;) I came because I promised my wife that I'd go to a class before June was up. And since this is the last weekend of the month, I figured I'd go, there's no way around it. So I bought a mat and prayed I wouldn't die in the class. Upon entering the building, it's pretty dimly lit and reminds me of Massage Envy. The men's locker room doesn't smell like the usual Men's locker room, like fun and nasty. It's pretty clean smelling, and pretty clean in appearance, albeit small. So this was my first yoga class ever, and my first hot yoga class ever. The cards were pretty stacked against me. I'm the kind of person who sweats while eating. I wasn't sure how I was going to make it through this, but I did, and it felt great! I think the heat definitely helped for some added limberness. I really feel like I was able to do more because of the heat than I would have than at room temperature. And the room was dimly lit so I didn't have to worry if I didn't know what "dancer" pose or "half moon" or "camel" look like. I was able to discreetly check what everyone else was doing, my problem is sometimes I look at the ONE person in the room who is doing the exact wrong opposite thing. So coming from me, a guy who has never set foot on a yoga mat, let me say: I will return to Becki's class, for sure. She has great taste in music, which is important in getting me through things I need to do, like work or work out. Honestly, music is the key. If we didn't have radios in the operating room, I would go home when our cases are done every day, instead of sticking around to stock and set up for the next day. Why? Because I can listen to Pandora! It's the music. Becki's playlist consisted of, to mention a few bands, 311, Death Cab for Cutie and Pearl Jam. That's enough to get me back. "It's not that bad," said everyone who has tried hot yoga ever. I didn't believe them. I imagined myself gasping for air, not so much worried about sweating. World: 1, Angela: 0 They were right. IT'S NOT THAT BAD. I've done regular yoga before and loved it. The most important thing you have to remember is that hot yoga is not equivalent to sitting in the sun on a humid Chicago summer day. The room is very dimly lit, and there are fans going. Yes, you will sweat, but it's not even as bad as being in a sauna. I loved the Yelp event here the other week. It was a crummy, rainy Sunday, so what's a better thing to do than get in a workout? The instructors were friendly, and the pace of the class was perfect. My friend came along and kept up just fine even though it was her first yoga class, and more experienced people seemed comfortable with the pace as well. I did modify a few moves since my hands got sweaty and slipped all over the mat. The facility is clean and inviting too. The event was a $10 donation, and we were provided with water and snacks. Tri Balance is about 45 minutes from home, which isn't exactly convenient, but I would definitely recommend them to my friends who live in the area. I have even looked for some hot yoga classes out my way, but I haven't found much that isn't in congested areas of Naperville. Tri Balance should open an Aurora location... read more

Tribalance is a gem of a yoga studio, especially in the burbs. I was beginning to think that a super clean, modern, well-staffed, and lovely studio wasn't in the cards for Schaumburg, but boy was I wrong. Classes: Upwards of 70 classes per week including many types of hot yoga (yin yoga, ashtanga, fusion), barre classes (unheated), meditation and an additional space for bootcamp. I've been to two hot yoga classes and a barre class--all three were great workouts and really enjoyable. Location/Studio: Because it's in a strip mall next to a Ricardo's Pizza, you may not think much of it. But inside this studio boasts four yoga studios, an acupuncture space, nice locker room with six showers, and even space for Thai yoga massage. Staff: Everyone I've interacted with really fits the bill of a chill yogi. You know what I mean-relaxed, sweet, go-with-the-flow, zenned out, kinda people. And the instructors are really fabulous. Both hot yoga classes I took were super challenging but extremely well instructed from direction in the poses to tone of voice and music. If you're seeking a really wonderful hot yoga studio in the northwest burbs, definitely give TriBalance a try. Pun! read more

"It's getting hot in here, so take off all your--" (music screeches to a halt) well, maybe not ALL your clothes. But you'll definitely want to strip down to some short shorts and a tiny top, because 'hot' is an understatement. At first, the heat and humidity may feel a bit suffocating - so try and get to class a bit early to allow your body a few minutes to adjust. If it's your first time ever, consider starting with the Beginners class (the temperatures don't climb as high). Soon enough, however, you will notice your body beginning to reap the benefits of practicing in a heated room - including enhanced flexibility and even pain relief. With classes ranging from as early as six in the morning, and as late as eight in the evening -- there are offerings to fit almost any schedule. Shortened one-hour Noon classes let you work in a lunchtime quickie. The studio even offers special focus workshops, such as 'Arm Balances' or 'Hip Openers' which are perfect supplements to and help deepen your everyday practice. Tribalance Hot Yoga is practiced in a dimly lit room -- so even on your most body-conscious days, you can focus on your practice (instead of worrying about whether your new lululemon pants do indeed eliminate muffin top). The instructors are all extremely knowledgeable, and are amazing at working with you to either correct or work deeper into a particular pose. Most classes are set to music, which not only brings an aspect of fun to the workout (if not for Tribalance, I would never have discovered my Love for Pearl Jam!), but also helps clue you into where you are in the sequence (faster paced music signals the start of the 'toning' exercises, while the follow-up slower paced music lets you know it's time for the cool down). There's nothing better than Eddie Vedder's voice reminding you to "Just Breathe," and taking you into your final savasana. If you're feeling particularly bold (and/or need a reality check on just how 'in shape' you really are) try the Om Zone Warrior Conditioning class. Imagine a hellish take on those insane workouts advertised via late night infomercial, taught in an almost boot-camp style - in a heated room. Your body will be begging for the final cool-down sequence - but not before the near mortifying 'group work' where you form a circle and power squat to the end (oh yeah, while joining hands and trying not to reveal just how sweaty and gross you are at this point). I'm always genuinely surprised that I made it through to the end without passing out - but it's probably THE best cardio/conditioning workout I've endured. My only caution - though I believe it is worth every penny - is that Tribalance is a bit on the pricey side. $89 a month lets you practice unlimited, which is worth it if you can make it at least twice a week. The unlimited membership fee also includes most workshops/master classes, as well as evening meditation sessions. Otherwise, they have fixed-class packages and single class rates if you're not ready to commit just yet. read more

I finally tried Hot Yoga and I loved it!!!! Even though I knew I'd be hurting the next day it was worth my effort and sweat! I'm not talking about a little perspiration. I'm talking about sweat pouring down your face, burning your eyes, having to clean yourself off every 2 minutes. Haha but I think that was only because it was my first time. I'm sure as I get used to it it wont be as bad. One of my friends frequents this place and she asked me to go. Our instructor was Cory, which I just read is the owner, and he is very hands on. He was calm and didn't make me feel uncomfortable at all. You can take your time with the poses if you have to. The room is dark so you can't really see peoples faces and that makes for a nice non-judgmental environment. In 105 degree room you get quite a nice work out. I can't wait to go back!!!! read more

I've gone here two times and honestly I think the love for this place might something I just don't get. That said, as you can see by the other reviews, some people rave about it. So I'm not saying to avoid, but think about these aspects. I'm going to compare to a friend who is one of the lovers. Price: $17/per class. If you are teacher or work in a profession that helps people, you'll get a deeper discount. Also, if you're going multiple times, the packages seem worth it. Instruction: The guy teaching the two times I went to the class didn't do the poses. He just walked around explaining them. I think that most the classes must be set up this way because the room is dark with the lights off. Crowded: You're already hot (which is actually an experience worth checking out - I think I sweated out a cold the first time I went), but then you're not less than two or three feet from the next person. There aren't many mirrors so you can't check out your positions. The workout: I think people can get into having a great, fun work out here, with Journey playing in the background. I think the goal of the classes is the workout but the structure doesn't support learning good form. My friend's knee hurt once here and I imagine the instruction (or lack thereof, because of crowds) might be part of the issue. I do like yoga, but this place doesn't earn my 5 stars. read more

I just wen to Tri Balance and I LOVE it! Ive taken several regular yoga classes, but this was my first hot yoga experience, and I loved every minute of it! The class I took today, the instructor did not demonstrate the poses, so if it is your first time doing yoga, I would recommend familiarizing yourself with poses before you go, or taking an intro yoga class. Pros: ~ VERY friendly staff! ~ Along with the yoga instructor, there were 3 other "instructors" walking around correcting your poses ~ Very nice facility Cons: ~ A bit pricey..but as a teacher, I got the $10 price..otherwise its $17 ~ The location..they just moved, and its tucked away in the plaza, so keep your eye out! FYI: ~ GET THERE EARLY! It gets super crowded REAL quick, so get there early to get a good spot ~ Don't forget your water and a towel ~ If you don't want to walk from the locker room to the studio, bring flip flops! ~ Bring a lock if you are uneasy about putting your stuff in a locker unlocked ~ They don have yoga mats for use! Im definately planning on taking a class a week...for me, the $10 price is worth it and is comparable to other yoga facilities Ive been to. LOOOOOVVVVVVEEEEEE HOOOOOTTTTTT YOOOGGGAAAA! The owners are really great people and the gym is nice looking and clean. I go here with Yvette C. and we really enjoy the challenging Hot Yoga class. It's yoga in a 95+ degree room for 1.5 hours!! I thought I would never make it thru my first class but afterwards I was hooked. I now CRAVE hot yoga...isnt that superb?! I mean, I MUST be crazy right?! No, I'm quite sane now that I've been introduced to this place that offers me strength, serenity, peace, confidence, and a host of other feelings and emotions. The prices are fair (I pay $10 a class with my student discount) and the regular price for one class is $15/$17. They also have class packages in case you just want to buy a ton at a time. The instructor, Cory, is awesome and is always helping me out with some poses that are very challenging for me. Even though I am SURE that it was HIM holding me up he always manages to tell me how great I did. Overall, the class is great and it gets really full on the Wednesday nights (630 to 8) and Saturday mornings (10 to 1130) that we go. Try it. Alright - it's been quite a while since I have reviewed and quite a bit has changed. Some of my old favorite instructors are gone, which is sad cuz they were great. However, there are new stand outs in my opinion... Joy's classes are great because she really changes things up - you go into different poses and work on different things, she also gives a bit of a story or deeper understanding to the poses which is cool. Her classes are challenging and she also keeps the room nice and hot so you're definitely sweating. Cassie had just started when I left the country last - I also enjoy her classes, challenging and again the temp is high so you sweat. Lou wasn't around last time before I left and I actually ended up in his class because he was subbing for someone else. He also thinks of interesting sequences and does a bit more adjusting which I personally like - always good to see where your alignment needs to be worked on and such. If you don't like to be touched, don't worry - he asks in the beginning if you don't want to be touched so he will leave you alone. There are also new classes being offered. Warrior Sculpt and Barre. I personally was weary of both - but Lou talked me into trying Warrior Sculpt and I have gone every week since. It's pretty much yoga and a bit of light weights, which I think is definitely beneficial. Barre, I've only had a chance to go to once and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, you obviously do work on the barre and then some work on the mat too. These are definitely nice options to change things up. I have to say, I think the people at the desk aren't quite as friendly as they used to be. A few always say hi at least when you walk in - but some look up right at you don't say a word and let you just scan and walk past. I don't remember it being like that before. Before I feel like everyone at least said hi, or have a good class and on your way out they would be saying bye or have a good one or something like that. I also wish they would bring back the Edge classes where you work on more advanced poses... All in all - this is my place. I've brought many friends here over the years and I would still recommend it. read more

I started going here two years ago after I googled "hot yoga"... I was in for a surprise! This place got me into the best shape of my life. It is a SERIOUS workout. I have taken a few of my guy friends here as well, they thought it would be a piece of cake. They were soon addicted and one even told me he lost 12 pounds from it. Corey is the best! He pays attention to all students and makes sure you get a good ab workout :) I noticed a serious change in the way I was feeling, my body was more fit but at the same time lean and overall I felt better. As a runner, these classes really help loosen my tight hips and thighs. I feel like a whole new person after class. The lighting here is also dim so it helps you focus on yourself and gets rid of any self-consciousness you may have while working out. The new studio is gorgeous. I love the upbeat music played in class (Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Dave Matthews) but at times I wish they would turn up the volume.... I recommend this place for anyone- whether you are interested in yoga or not. Guys should try this out as well, there are usually a large amount of men in the classes. Make sure to bring a towel big enough for your mat and a small towel just to wipe off with. Also bring LOTS of water! read more

Tri Balance isn't half bad at all!!! I will definitely be attending classes a few times a month. (i work in schaumburg but don't live here) So the good: They were friendly at the front desk which to be honest is a huge selling point for me. Why would I go to a yoga studio of all places to get the stink-eye from the front desk? But obviously that's okay for some people. They ask people to make room for more students. THANK YOU! It's super hard to want to relax... you ask someone to kindly move just a smidge and they GROWL at you! lol Well not at tribalance because they help you out. Prices.. well some people think pricing is much but it's just as affordable as ANY studio i've been to. and great music. The bad: It's carpeted:( I think that's really gross. But hey, i'm not a germaphobe. But rug friction when i'm trying to do the splits? not so fun. Adjustments:( Where are you teacher? ADJUST ME! Their flow was a tad fast for me.. and it's hard to get it when the cues for movement isn't that great. Tell me to reach, where, focus my gaze on what, place my weight and foundation where, slowly kick back from this point??? HOW??? I see tons of young schaumburg teens doing yoga thinking it is about being "good" and they are arching their back in their positions.. nothing has been said about how to properly fold over. That bothers me as it's pretty important to hinge at your hips. And if the move doesn't call for it... then it should be said. So all in all it's one of the only places in schaumburg for yoga and like i said it's alright so ill be heading back for more. read more

UPDATE: Becki and Corey are no longer instructors at TriBalance. I learned this once I started getting back in my yogi groove. Bought myself a monthly pass and have quickly discovered that I love Joy + Cassie's classes on the weekends (get there 30 minutes early to ensure yourself a nice little spot) and Wendy's on Tuesday nights. Oh and for those of you looking for barre in the NW burbs. TriBalance now has it! I do love this little studio and am grateful to enhance my health and practice outside the city! read more

Bridget is amazing. 100% go see her if you want to get acupuncture done, if you're feeling stressed, or not well. I went through, admittedly, a self-induced traumatic experience and was seeking help from multiple doctors and a chiropractor. Since Tri Balance doesn't have a neon sign up yet, I had a hard time finding this place when I turned into the plaza but it's right next to the Riccardo's restaurant. Tri Balance Yoga creates such a calm and relaxing environment as soon as you walk into the yoga room. The facilities are very clean, well decorated and are huge! The restroom/changing room areas are immense and are very well kept. For my first visiting, I was really impressed. If you go to their website, you can sign up for a free yoga pass that's eligible for one free class. It's great! The class is about an hour and a half long and I have never sweated so much in my life! Hot yoga is no joke, it's hot! The teacher for the morning class, Sarah, is awesome. She's very instructive and walks around the room, showing the class how to get into the yoga position. Come at least 10 minutes early to secure a good spot and bring a towel! read more
