I'm currently a senior in the DMS program and my experience with the school has been amazing. The teachers are amazing and have lots of experience about the field, which has been very helpful with what to expect and prepare for when you finish the program. I can't speak for all classes but since you stay with the same group of people you get to make friendships and connections with amazing people who share the same passion as you. I wouldn't say the program is hard but it's also not easy, you have to put effort and dedication because the program is pretty fast paced. read more

It is poorly ran. Very unethical. It's the day of my graduation and I just found out that my instructors don't care about their students and are choosing not to come to graduation. What's that all about? My instructor straight out told me she's not coming because she's not getting paid. I get it, I don't want you working for free. Extremely disappointing experience. In the beginning, everything seems supportive--especially financial aid--but it quickly becomes clear the focus is on getting your money, not helping you succeed. Most of the good instructors left, and students are left with teachers who lack proper credentials and can't effectively teach the material. Communication is a joke--students are told to use Teams for help, but when you actually speak up, you get silenced, pushed into private messages, or removed entirely. Externship placements were also concerning. Some sites were poorly maintained, had little to no patients, and didn't follow what we were taught. I personally witnessed behavior that raised serious ethical concerns, which made the experience even more frustrating as a student trying to learn the right way. Leadership is basically nonexistent. The principal, Amita, is rarely seen and doesn't take student concerns seriously. On top of that, there was constant staff turnover--multiple instructors, the DMS program director, and financial aid staff all left before I even graduated. Policies constantly change, and they hide behind "subject to change" disclaimers even when things were clearly misrepresented at the start. If you have money to waste, this might be the place. I used to be a student for the ultrasound program here but decided to transfer to another school because this school was a joke. The resources and equipment provided to us were super outdated. The professor that was instructing us did not even have her credentials (ARDMS certification) and was extremely unprofessional. Amita was very hard to be able to get a hold of and ignored students emails and concerns. I can't speak on behalf of the other programs being offered at the school but don't waste your time on the ultrasound program. It is a pretty challenging field and requires for you to know extensive knowledge. This school was not preparing me for working out in the field at all! Many of the students that were supposed to be out on externship didn't even feel prepared. My advice would be to make sure you do your research and ask for proof of graduation and hiring rates of previous years of the school. Also, make sure your teachers are qualified to teach you!! Amita has a bachelors in comparative religion & Masters in Higher Education. Her tactics of gaslighting are enormous. She pockets most of the money. The campus is filthy. There's no security. The program is easy enough but Amita is not fit to run a school but she is fit to spin every single honest review. I was a student and I just dropped it because she's so incompetent. Amita already had a failed tutor business called Five Star Academy. It lasted for 2yrs & 2months. She's been at this manipulation game since the 90s. Healthcare Career College was originally Infotech Career Colleges. Amita speaks with grace and great articulation, while gritting her teeth and patronizing you by taking notes. Amita is the dean and the owner. Amita has been falsely awarded numerous times & is allegedly a performative activist of mental health. It's far from it. Our entire class, a whole 12 students, wanted to bring our concerns to her as a group to form a group decision which she refused. She bought the now exposed fraudulent beauty school Marinello's property that had been abandoned with everything inside. Evidence is by our chairs. Left over beauty salon chairs or cheap chairs that will easily break. Amita from what it seems has given every teacher and herself a script to follow when students bring their concerns to her or administrators. It's always "health career is so difficult, it's normal to struggle, etc etc etc." meanwhile the campus is in a shopping plaza infested with crackheads and drunks. A laundry mat. And let's not get started on the revolving door of teachers. Amita is unfit to run this school. She ran Five Star Academy to the ground from 2005-2007. It's unclear if she's the original buyer of Infotech/Healthcare career college but she did take a leading role in 2007 as soon as Five Star Academy crashed and burned. There are many things. And everything is documented. And unless i see improvement on campus, administration, curriculum, structure, & an improvement in Amita's false niceties this institution will also be run to the ground by Amita no matter how many awards and recognitions she buys (allegedly). She's an advocate for mental health but she must be extremely duplicitous because the art of manipulation is evident. First she disarms, then she invites in individually, then she promises change on what's most important, and then the bare minimum is done. I'm up to date on all my payments. Their DMS DIPLOMA program is an 18month program when it SHOULD BE 12months. The Associates in ultrasound is 18months. & a bachelors is 28months. Amita is a scam artist. If it weren't for her parents buying her this "college" she wouldn't have a career. Five Star Academy shut down within 2 years in the OC. Reviewing all the negative reviews and I can tell you that they are 100% accurate. I was in the Medical Billing and Coding Program and this specific program was OVER PRICED and OVER LOOKED. Mind you, I do not regret pursuing an education in this field but I do regret attending this school. The MBC program was neglected probably because the low amount of students that attended but that is not fair to the students, including myself at the time, that were still attending. I would say the class size was usually less than 10 people. Some previews reviews mentioned classes had a revolving door of teachers. That is factual, it was someone every week and one thing they all had in common ... they did not teach, more on having a discussion on random things that did not have to do with billing or coding. Also, I learned nothing about Coding. Nothing! What a waste of money. As to Dr. Ramon, a previous review from Desiree P. stated in one of her screenshots,"Dean who just gossips and falsely passes students..." 1000% true, he would change my grade when I would get a C on a test and he would change it to an A. I'm just glad someone else realized that. He would let us leave early and I mean less than an hour early which means I didn't get my monies worth. I'm speaking for myself but I paid for this certificate, I didn't earn it. I learned everything at my current job I am now (the certificate didn't help me land this job), which for the most part that's usually how that goes. I applied for the Pell Grant and that money was directly disbursed to the school, I had to take loans out, my mothers had to take a loan out for me to go to this school because it wasn't enough AND I was paying $50 monthly while attending. I wish I asked more questions and did my research. For the lack of teaching and support, I really over paid for this program. There are other places that give a better education for half the cost. Literally just dropped my DMS program 2 weeks ago and I am in the process of transferring to a school where they actually teach and have people who are certified to teach. Please don't waste your time and money here. I should have payed attention to all the negative reviews when I first started here. I Started the program in Sept of 2022 , everything felt right in the beginning but then 6 months into the program I was really disappointed when I learned that the DMs instructors are not DMS certified , they don't have the credentials to teach ultrasound nor do they have experience in the field , they are former graduates from the school, and for me this was a huge deal. There is definitely other things going on within this program but for me this was my biggest concern and when I first tried talking to Amita ( the owner) she lied to me telling me she was going to be out of town but I actually saw her on campus , then I messaged her again and she just ignored my message . Instead of replying to me , she talked to our class instructor ( Ms. Pam) which she then put me on blast in front of the whole class, Ms. Pam was super unprofessional. I tried to talk to Amita but it was a pointless conversation, I also emailed her twice and I'm still waiting for her to respond to me, maybe she'll reply to my review . I can't speak on the other programs in this school but I can tell you that if you want a career in ultrasound, THIS IS NOT IT!! Please do your research and don't make the same mistake there is better schools out there that actually care for your education. P.s they did hire a new instructor to the program that does have credentials but this was right after me and 2 other classmates left. I came in for a tour and had a meeting with her and even though I've worked in the health field for the past 9 years she said it wasn't a good fit for me. lol who says that when that's literally been my job. I still sat through the meeting because I wanted to further my education and she still repeatedly mentioned how I am not meant for the medical field. I wanted to wait until securing employment and working for two weeks before leaving a review on my experience at Healthcare Career College while in the LVN program. The skills, habits and training I received during the entirety of the program most definitely made a positive impact on my performance as a nurse. The program itself is not easy. If it were, everyone would be a nurse. But don't let that deter you. The professors at HCC are amazing and truly care about students. You'll learn things they've mastered over the course of their career and will ensure you become a good nurse with 0 bad habits. Good and caring professors are hard to come by but HCC is not short on those. And in the end that's all that matters because that's the person teaching you how to become someone that literally takes care of people for a living. Put in the work and they will too. Thank you so much to Mr Roy, Ms Ruth, Mrs Wong, Ms Elizabeth, Mr Sam and Dr Uy. I can not speak on other programs but the LVN program is a great choice. Be prepared to work and learn ALOT. This school and program has such high passing rates for a reason. You will be quizzed and tested over and over which may seem very annoying and unnecessary but it's most definitely necessary. I'm positive that is what ensured my passing of the NCLEX on the first try. As for the campus, there is plenty of parking. It's located in a decently good area. Lots of food around. Classrooms could use an update with the chairs but they'll do. I never had any issues with the nice people in the financial aid department or anyone in the administration/business office. Run the other direction...as a former student of this school in the LVN program please save your money this school is a scam and it to collect every penny they can....they are inconsistent with the out of pocket fees after paying the registration fee the school attempted to charge an additional $700 for a health screening we were at first told had to be completed through the school and then at the last moment we were told we could complete them through our doctors office after submitting a petition to have the fees covered through the school since they claimed an "all inclusive" tuition (yes the fees were waived the day of the screen). Regarding the staff Kelly and Norma gave 100% all of the time and that is much appreciated. I only made it through my first term and let me say Mr. Roy is the only reason I stayed and finished Term 1 he genuinely cares about the students and is a great instructor overall. Now to get to the DON (director of Nursing) Teresa Ibarra...her lack of compassion, approachability, and knowledge of the LVN program she was supposed to be directing the absolute worse. She had mo knowledge of testing for credit due to experience or prior training and simply said no they wouldn't. Regarding the fees that were to Be charged for the health screen she attempted to direct questions to Amita the owner of the school who to this day we never heard from...she took a almost month vacation and upon her return overturned things that the owner had put in place to help those who had fallen short on the exit test and dropped students...there is even a current student who needed to make up a clinical day and she refused so he's repeating the term. I personally approached her with an issue of my own regarding an immediate family member and with her shrugging her shoulders at me told me it wasn't her problem and to figure my issue out...and please note the $34k they advertise on the paper is not all your going to pay my tuition was $35k and some change read more

I write this review with the intention of alerting future students so please read until the end, I may very well save you some time and money, and I write this review not with the intention of speaking too negatively but just to make sure everyone has ALL the information before enrolling. I began as a student here on 11/12 (phlebotomy) my program was scheduled to end 12/31 (before externship, externship just being an extra week). I ended up finishing, with my externship, on FEBRUARY 3. This school is very chaotic, I had many classmates that were medical assistant students before tell me that they were not encouraged to take the state test, that they never got sufficient training to feel comfortable to do it. If it wasn't for me attending a separate school I would've never passed, the teacher was outnumbered, there were at least 25 students and just the ONE teacher so of course he couldn't keep an eye on everyone so there were several unsupervised blood draws. The main program staff were no help, as I noticed the prolonging of the classes I decided it was only fair that I get some sort of financial help (I am low income) not only did it actually take about a month for the right person to reply but they did not even consider my request. To be honest there was only ONE person that truly helped and even then it was for things that were minor, out of so many.... The school schedules the actual test and we take it in the facility, before beginning the actual test the proctor/school staff, tried to "teach" us how to make an account through CDPH (to get out license) and when I tell you this woman was equally as lost, if anything she directed us to a YouTube video (that we could've easily found) on the side of the website. At the end of it all so many students just wanted to leave and never hear about this place, we had many days where there were many technical difficulties and only TWO lab days, we were there every Saturday from 8am to 4pm. I have attached the email I sent regarding my financial situation and the dates of how long it took, if you are considering doing phlebotomy here please let this be your last choice, if absolutely necessary. The Administration, as well as the Instructor Mrs. Osuna, are fantastic. I am a current student in HCC's Coding and Billing Specialist program (Mrs. Osuna's class) and I am learning so much from her and my classmates, including the Admissions Staff and School Administrators. The Dean Dr. Ramon is so approachable. Amita is too. The Externship class is teaching me a lot about where I go wrong in the interview process. Fantastic ideas are shared her to help the students "Land the Job" and be successful. Please don't be discouraged by the negative posts. If you are considering going to this school, please look for better options. I was enrolled in the LVN program here and I started in September 2023. Unfortunately, due to the overseer's of the nursing department not doing there job correctly, the nursing program was ordered to cease teaching and our program shut down in the middle of us learning. Not only has this impacted every single one of the students lives, but also our families. We have sacrificed so much to be able to come to school 5 days a week full time, while also dedicating our afternoons and weekends to study. Not only has the school shut down, but most schools that I've reached out to want students to start from the very beginning of the program. This has completely disrupted my livelihood as I am unsure of what to do next. Elizabeth Estrada, the nursing director, and Amita Garg, the owner, also failed to give the students a notice of the provisional/probationary status that the school was currently on and has been on for the last 10 years. Unfortunately we had to find out on our own. This place is a complete disaster. They are disorganized and it's obvious that they don't have the students best interests at heart. This school has a pre-VN program when you get there they will tell you to take an entrance test that you're in the program on the first day of class they will then tell you they only have room for 28 students I ended up going to Homestead much better school don't waste your time. I'm a recent graduate of the Lvn program. I encountered many instructors while here but 2 stood out the most while I was here because of their love for the nursing field and passion for what they do. Ms.Tina was one but my favorite was Mr. Roy. He is very knowledgeable and informative and helps you understand difficult course materials to the best of his ability. He will even go above and beyond if it is a subject that he isn't teaching. If you are looking for a handout then this is not the school for you! Be prepared to give what you put into it! I've heard many stories about other schools and I'm glad to say I attended here. I am currently enrolled at this school in the L.V.N program. 6 months in, graduating 2020. I can honestly say my experience has been about 90% positive. The instructors I have had are Mr. Roy and Mr. Dwight. Both classroom experiences have been different. They have not been negative as far as the instruction and actual teaching go. They both have different teaching methods which are both strict and structured. The instructors and nursing staff are awesome when it comes to helping us be the best students we can be. They provide great learning materials and are always willing to take the extra time (even after school) to explain subjects we do not understand. Mr. Roy is an amazing teacher with great passion for his students.. He is strict and demands 100%. Some students may not like this and interpret it as being rude or mean.. But at the end all he wants is for us to succeed. Mr. D is an amazing clinical instructor. He breaks things down for us so we can really get the experience we need. Yes.. Like I mentioned, students may interpret this as "mean" or maybe unnecessarily strict.. But we are going to be nurses.. Human lives will be in our hands.. I enrolled into the dental assisting program I absolutely love my instructor she's a great teacher. My school provides infection control, coronal polishing, pit and fissure certifications. We do a lot of hands on training we work on each other's teeth so get our bleaching trays. We also get our own patients. I have less than a month here and I should have known better than to actually enroll once I saw how their "boot camp" worked and how people would show up only when they wanted too and still get in the program (of course they only want your money ) anyways I made the mistake of still signing up...I'm in my second week...our instructor quit or got fired not sure but now we don't have an instructor....the building is falling apart...bathroom doors don't lock...no AC...and we've all voiced our concern and gotten nothing. This school is very close to my house, lots of parking, fewer students, so I get a lot of one to one attention from my teachers. The teachers are mostly doctors and nurses, unlike other schools where the instructors are just high school graduates with some one or 2 years experience in the field. I can really sense the difference in the amount of knowledge and experienced provided to me by teachers with real college education. They are also more professional and and I am confident that they are providing me with real hands on experience. The classrooms, restrooms, and the student lounge are always very clean unlike in the other schools I came from with dirty bathrooms and surroundings.
