I should have read the reviews on this place before I went. They definitely go crazy about you having fillings saying I had like 10. Mind you I haven't had cavities/fillings in decades and my oral hygiene routines have been the same. When I asked to show me these cavities, they said it could only be seen by their eyes and it didn't show up in the pictures. Elaine looks kind in the photos which is why I choose to go to this place, but in person, she has an extremely stressed out aura and takes it out in patients. Her staff also seem stressed out! i also saw one patient asking one dentist questions, and the dental assistant was answering instead of the dentist! What! The dentist doesn't know her stuff?? Elaine also said I needed a crown because my tooth was infected and tried to get me to book that which I knew this particular tooth she referred to was actually fine from other dentists who've seen that tooth. Scare tactics! Money grubbing! Figure out when their lunch time is and don't have your appointment right when their lunch ends. I had an appointment and I had to wait like 20 minutes because staff, including Elaine who was to see me, were trickling in past my appt time. read more

I've been going to this dental office for years and have been satisfied with their service up until the past year and a half. I see them for maybe six times out of the year and I kid you not each time I have either been made to: 1) wait 45 minutes past my appointment 2) receive a call 30-60 minutes ahead of my scheduled appointment that was confirmed multiple times via TEXT that THEY send out to tell me I am LATE for my appointment 3) reschedule the appointment time a week before because suddenly their office is closed. And take time off to make it to the new appointment time or else the next available appointment would be 3 months later for a scheduled cleaning. I think I've given this place enough chances now and we're up to strike six or seven. I'm really disappointed because the staff is typically really nice but it seems like the past year and a half to two years they've been very disorganized when it came to scheduling and keeping appointments that they initially set. I live close by but don't appreciate being called to rush over to the office when their scheduling system has been screwed up for what feels to be awhile now. read more

BEWARE!!! If you are looking for a corrupt office to scam you this is the place for you. Moved to Monrovia and needed a new dentist and stumbled upon this office while walking on Myrtle. I scheduled a routine cleaning as I do every 6 months, however I was told by the dentist and extremely rude office manager Christin, that I needed a deep cleaning and had too many cavities to count. I went to two other dentists Dr Nalbach in Monrovia and Dr Thanga in Duarte, to get second opinions. Both disagreed with the "Healthy life Dental" findings. SCAM! STAY AWAY! I came here to get a new nightguard. That's all I needed. I'm not even due for a clearing or checkup since I've done it recently at my regular doctor's office. As soon as I got into the office, they started taking an X-RAY. While taking the X-RAY, the assistant injured my gum. Then, the doctor came in and started taking photos of my teeth. After 10 minutes, she put those photos on the screen in front of my face and started telling me that I have like 3 cavities. Both of my fillings were old and rotten and had to be replaced immediately (even though one of them was less than a year old). Otherwise, I'm looking at a root canal. My wisdom teeth are rotting and also need to be taken out. I have abrasions all over my teeth that require gum surgery by an orthodontist, who conveniently also comes to this office. And also, why is my gum injured? Her assistant just injured me! I was blown away since I had no issues anywhere, and I saw my dentist, whom I'd been seeing for years, just 4 months prior (and she also took an X-Ray and told me everything was normal). When I asked about the original reason I came here -- the nightguard, the doctor said she couldn't do it before she took care of all the cavities. Otherwise, the nightguard wouldn't fit. That's when I was 100% sure it was all BS because I've had my nightguard for 4 years, I had several fillings done during this time, and my dentist never told me to make a new nightguard. It was just fine. When I told her I was not going to do anything and I was going to seek a second option, she wasn't surprised even a bit. After coming home, I read a bunch of other reviews of this place, and it all checks out. They scam people into doing completely unnecessary procedures. That's their entire business model. I can't believe this doctor is allowed to practice. The 5 star reviews you see here are all fake. This is the first time in my life I have walked into a 100% scam. STAY AWAY. Just to be sure, I went to my doctor 3 weeks later, and she again said, all my teeth are fine, and I got a new nightguard. read more

If I could give them a negative*I would give them 10 negative stars. As a first time patient, I scheduled a cleaning. I went to my appointment, only to have 23 x-rays done and told that I had to have eight fillings and two crowns. They would not do my cleaning that day. I thought it was weird because my previous dentist for the last three years told me I only needed one for sure filling and wanted to keep an eye. I canceled my future appointments with this dentist and went to my old dentist only to find that I didn't need two crowns and eight fillings. I only needed one filling and to keep an eye on another tooth for a potential filling. My partner also went in and was told he needed six fillings, and that his gums were bad. We both went back to our previous Dentist without telling them what happened to tell us how many fillings we needed and how many crowns we needed, and he did not need any fillings, and I only had the two that were suggested. If you add up the cost of eight fillings, and two crowns figure out how much they would've robbed me financially. Be careful of this, Dentist she will make sure that she price couches you for every tooth. And if there's staff is sitting there, watching her do that to people they are just as wrong and guilty as she is. I do not recommend this place at all. read more

Unfortunately, I have to give this place a bad rating. I was a patient here for over 8 yrs and throughout the time everything was great, I would even drive from Glendora. Because of the past is why I give them 2 stars. However, recently post pandemic, things changed. They want to do a lot of dental work, deep cleaning, re-do fillings, crowns. They had never insisted on doing all of this work like they have lately. I denied all of that work six months ago, to date my teeth fell fine. But what really made me write this negative review was the fact that 4 different people have said the same thing. A friend from Monrovia, another from Azusa, and my wife. Coincidence? The front desk harasses you if you don't confirm an appointment that you already confirmed by making the appointment in the 1st place ... smh! They incorrectly bill you and send the wrong codes to the insurance company. The dentist will scam you and recommend $3,000+ worth of treatment work that you don't need (I got a 2nd opinion from my new dentist, and most of everything Dr Luu recommended as necessary work turns out is not necessary) AVOID THIS PLACE. I told them I would need to do things slow for financial reasons and could they put together a plan with their recommendations over a period of time so I could afford it. No they can do that, but also buy this electric tooth brush. I don't want to feel like my dental experience is a way for them to make more money off me by up selling. Had to go somewhere else. Thee best dental experience I have ever had! Had few visits this past month and don't write many reviews but was blown away by this experience I HAD TO! Great clean and attentive practice. Not once did I have a feeling() of being ignored. I wasn't strung on a chair with mouth open while the doctor bounced around tending to other patients. Seriously the setup, design and instruments used were great. A toothbrush sized camera?! Dope! X-ray machine in the same room coming out of the wall?! Dope! The doctor sits there examines and very thorough on explaining any issues or concerns. Not rough, very friendly and professional. Friendly and professional also goes for the entire staff, great crew. I regret not asking for names, but from the front desk, the voice behind the appointment caller, the assistant to the doctor and the hygienist. All friendly and made this experience great for me and my sons. I generally don't like going to the dentist but Dr. Lu and her team has made dental visits a breeze! Her team does a great job of explaining to you your options and working with you and your insurance provider. The office is really clean, the lighting is bright and the service is top notch. I also appreciate the fact they have a tv at each station for you to watch whatever your heart desires. Parking can be found directly outside but if it happens to be full there is a parking garage just up the street that you can use for free. Most amazing dental office ever. You're not just patients here, you feel like part of a family. My kids look forward to their visits and the way everyone in the office engages them makes me glad that we found this place. Two stars are removed for unprofessional business etiquette. I scheduled an oral surgery with their surgeon (who only comes to the office once a month) a month in advanced. The day before my surgery a receptionist (Ida I think) called to remind me of my appointment which wasn't necessary since I took the entire day off of work but still nice to remind me. The following day (the day of my surgery) Ida calls me again and says the surgeon is cancelling my surgery without any further information or anything to help the fact I took an entire day off of work ($$$$$) for this surgery. I realize this is probably all the surgeons fault however the office needs to either find a more consistent surgeon or should have offered me something for the inconvenience. My experience with my teeth cleaning and fillings was great. The dentist and her assistant were quick, friendly and efficient. I paid out of pocket since I don't have insurance so it was a bit expensive but dental health is important! If it wasn't for the experience of cancelling on me hours before my appointment I would have left a 5 star review. I was supposed to be contacted with a rescheduled appointment for February but nobody has reached out to me yet and it's been almost three weeks since my cancelled surgery... Hmmmm... EDIT: They contacted me with a sincere apology and to re-schedule my oral surgery so I added one star for that. Thank you. read more
