They are gentle and extremely knowledgeable and have helped me many times. I went there today and I saw the specialist, the endodontist. She is friendly knowledgeable, and very experienced. I can't say enough good things about Dr Dao and the team at Monrovia Dentalcare. I came in with tooth pain and was very nervous, but Dr Dao immediately put me at ease. She is incredibly knowledgeable, conservative and extremely detail-oriented. She took the time to thoroughly explain what was going on, walked me through my options and never made me feel rushed or pressured into treatment, which I appreciate! My kids dentist recommended this dentist to me. It's nit necessarily local but it's not bad. This place is in the Optum building on the second floor. I calked and I made an appointment since I was having pain. Unfortunately they couldn't fit me in for work when I needed, but I was referred out. I was pleased with the referral. The other dentist was great. I just wished it would have been more affordable. My regular checkup and cleaning were great. I was supposed to get ca call regarding some coverage, but I think the staff got very distracted with a lady they had that required more time with payment. I live that they offer me a cover when I sit because I'm always cold. read more

I started coming here after my last dentist stopped accepting my Delta Dental insurance. I love the staff they're so efficient I'm always in and out in a jiffy. I've had x rays, dental cleanings and fillings here. Btw they are open Saturdays! Until 2 pm or something. I always book my cleaning ahead of time because they get pretty busy. I was very dissastified with this office my last visit, due to the fact that they insisted on doing a full mouth x ray after doing it just 6 months prior (no reason for that). When I objected, they treated me rudely. However, I needed a dental visit; so thought I would give them another chance. Dr Rafela is listed as "in network" dentist for United Health Dental Discount program through my United Health insurance coverage, and I verified this with the office; so when I arrived for my appt, I reminded receptionist I am to get the discount of 41% off cleaning, Xrays, exam. She spent approx 30 minutes on the phone with United Healthcare, then told me I needed to pay $186.00. She had my credit card and charged it for that amount. I thought that was too high to have included my discount, so I asked what price would have been without the discount, and she said $165.00. She sat there smirking at me, without ever letting me know before she charged for a higher price, that it was more than they would have charged me without a dental discount program. I then demanded to speak with Dr Rafela and she verified that was correct and if I use the dental discount, then every time I went there, they would charge based on that even though higher than they normally charge. I demanded my credit back on charge card, left the office and will not be going back. IMPORTANT - I then called United Healthcare and learned that the pricing is due to Dr Rafela contracting with them highly inflated prices that they then give th 40+% discount from. They explained it is each dentist contracting with United Healthcare those amounts, so she clearly inflated her fees in a big way to get listed as an "in network" dentist to attract customers, but very misleading that the customer would get a discounted price in reality - actually I was charged more than their regular pricing!!!! read more

We've been patients of Dr Jane Refela's for years now and just adore her and her team - they are incredible at their craft and go above and beyond to make me and my hubby feel so cared for and comfortable. I can't say enough about how excellent the dental care is here! I especially love how Dr Refela is very conservative with her care - she's not an alarmist and really makes sure you need a treatment before recommending anything. Our regular bi-annual visits are thorough and efficient and they do an amazing job getting our teeth super spotless and are even amazing at removing any stains. My hubby has always been absolutely terrified of going to the dentist - for years I always had to sit with him and hold his hand - but Dr Refela and her team are so gentle, kind, and caring that he feels comfortable and confident enough to go by himself haha!! I couldn't be more impressed. The treatment rooms are comfy and have two TVs for your viewing pleasure - one on the wall and even one up on the ceiling for you to watch while they do your dental work! Such an awesome touch. They'll let you watch whatever channel you like. They take our insurance and scheduling/billing have always been easy and seamless. They decorate their office so nicely for all the holidays and all the staff are so welcoming - they always seem genuinely happy to see us. This is a stellar dental practice - we're so happy we found them and will definitely be patients for life. Highly recommend!! read more

My husband and I get anxiety going to a dentist. Our old dentist constantly charged us for services that were never done; over priced; long wait even if it was just for cleaning (no less than 2 hours); and awful bed side manner. Last year, a friend recommended us this Dental clinic. The receptionist was very pleasant and patient when I made an appointment. On the day of my appointment, I walked in and the office was clean, like new. Dr. Refela introduced herself and went on with the procedure. My teeth are not the prettiest, but she made sure I understood the procedures being done. She used visuals as she thoroughly explained what was happening to my teeth. During check-up, she made sure the water she used on me were warm enough to not feel any sensitivity. Dr. Refela was very mindful about her patient's need. My first root canal was a good experience, too. The specialist was just as awesome! Many people have said there's pain after, not me. I dont wish to have another root canal, but the specialist did not traumatize my first experience. If you're looking for a trustworthy dentist, this is it! read more

Haven't been to Dr Jane's office due to insurance issues and my last brutal teeth cleaning I had here. Upon my return, I noticed Dr Jane and the entire staff extra careful when it came to the "plandemic" protocols. Would be fine if Germ Theory was a fact. Apparently they didn't get the memo; Top virologists state this "virus" and its "variants" have only been isolated via In-Silico aka computer model. CDC has also confirmed non isolation. It's all a lie. Look for other answers to what's going on. What was strange was that even with the extreme concern, 3 chairs were filled with patients and service seemed rush. IMHO too many chairs filled to give quality care. Maybe they didn't buy the lie. After checkup, I was given the bad news of a cavity, asked to set up an appointment at the front desk for a root canal. No chance for a casual conversation of what a root canal consists of, as Dr Jane disappeared. Same dreaded dental assistant was very rough on the teeth cleaning; i'm sure my mouth was literally filled with blood. Minimal offering of dental suction during the process. Well upon checkout, the front desk attendant, No further information, NFI, scheduled me for a root canal. I asked her " What's a Root Canal?" The following is a summary of her statement. She barked off something simple in which I replied, I would do some research online. I asked her what day the root canal would be on. With a condescending voice, she said " Friday". I remembered Dr Jane say they only do root canals on Fridays. This place has changed. Fast forward to root canal day, Friday. I called the office and asked to cancel as I was going to pursue a second opinion. The following is a summary of receptionists statement. Receptionist, NFI, said I was not scheduled. I asked if their office was near Tommy Burgers in Monrovia. She confirmed that was the office and I was only scheduled for a cleaning in February. Well there you go. Dr Jane is a nice lady but may need a refresher course in time management as well as retraining employees in PR. The hunt continues for quality care. Once upon a time, it was a pleasure to attend this office and their kind employees. IMHO they have lost their way. read more

I've been going to Dr Refela for at least 7-8 years now. I drive all the way from La Crescenta/Glendale area but it's worth it and can't imagine going to any other dentist. I love her conservative, restorative-options-first approach to dentistry. She's a great teacher and goes over several options with me about the best next steps to approach my cavities, which ones need treatment and which ones just need to be watched. She doesn't try to milk my insurance for the sake of unnecessary dental work as I've experienced at previous dental office. It is always a pleasure going into Dr. Dao's office. Up until about a year ago, I was still seeing my childhood pediatric dentist (into my adulthood). I needed work done that they didn't have equipment for given my adult teeth. My dentist recommended his own dentist (Dr. Dao). They are pretty far from me, but I am absolutely okay with the drive given the standard of care, the courtesy, the efficiency, the expertise, and the overall confidence I walk away from there with after a cleaning or procedure. I found this Dentist less than 5 minutes from my house and decided to give it a shot after having pretty bad headaches due to a bad cavity. Keep in mind that I haven't been to the Dentist since 2008 so I was quite terrified, but all the staff members were very polite and calm so it really calmed my nerves a significant amount for when they had to explain that I needed a Root Canal and showed me all my options. I came back three days later to start my procedure and was so nervous just in the waiting room. However, just like before they were all friendly and calm which helped a lot. I went through the entire process and they were gentle the entire time which was roughly an hour and walked out with my new fillings in my tooth. I'm posting this review a day later and my jaw isn't sore (I was told it might be sore the day after) nor do I have any pain. So they must be pretty good! I had a toothache Sat. Night. They were able to get me in on Mon. I started antibiotics then that had the pain under control. I came back within 10 days to have it removed.
