I was able to get an appointment for the same day which was nice. The office was clean and quiet. The vet was nice and gave us plenty of time. She wrote out every test she thought we might need and circled the ones we could do that day. I never felt like they left me in the room for too long. They also had a calming diffuser on. They never man handled my dog. She answered all of my questions. Although we think differently about what the issue is with my dog, I know she just has to rule things out to be sure. And the diet change we do agree on has already helped. The front desk also double checked the total cost and corrected it and she helped me to my car. Compared to my other dogs previous vet at Twin Lakes: they left me with more questions or feeling like we weren't doing enough. That vet would leave the room before answering my questions and was very passive about the issues I was coming in for, offering no advice. The place was very outdated and wouldn't call back about questions. So you get what you pay for. Right now I'm happy with healthy paws. read more

I will be changing my veterinarian as of today. This serves as a warning to pet owners searching for a good veterinarian for older pets, sick pets, or even healthy pets who might get sick. This vet is a puppy/kitten shots vet--that's it. Do NOT take your pets here. I hope this review saves a life. My five-year-old Boston Terrier was stung by a bee. She is extremely allergic, and her face swells within minutes. We have about an hour before her throat closes. When we noticed the sting, we were possibly at the 30-minute mark. We rushed her to her vet, located right down the road. She was wheezing, and her face was so swollen her eyes were almost shut. The front desk staff immediately went to get the doctor and returned, saying, "The doctor says she has two other patients before you and recommends going to Legacy Vet ER." I explained that we wouldn't make it there in time--it's a 15-minute drive without traffic, and we were nearing the 45-minute mark. She looked me in the face and said, "Yes, I know, you should take her as soon as possible." WHAT?? While waiting, another dog, who wasn't in immediate danger, was taken back before us. Meanwhile, my dog was deteriorating. Throat closing up. She just needed one shot to save her life, which they had, and they knowingly turned us away, knowing, if we didn't make it she would die! We drove to CVS, got Benadryl, and barely managed to get it down her throat as her condition worsened. Thankfully, it worked, and she survived. To be clear, this is not an emergency vet, and they don't advertise as one. However, this was her regular vet--the one who knows her and her history. I trusted them to provide immediate care. They had what she needed and how long does it take to give a shot to a dog? Hell the front desk girl could have done it. I would have! I was wrong in believing they actually cared for her life. That they cared at all. For sick pets in Little Elm or Frisco, I recommend going directly to Legacy Vet ER--they are exceptional. I also find it concerning that the reviews for this clinic are either 5-star or 1-star. Many of the negative reviews mention bad experiences with sick pets, long wait times, and unnecessary costs. And even cost of losing a pet. This experience could have cost my pet her life. It's not the first bad experience I've had with this clinic, but it's the most critical. They had the chance to save her and didn't. I got lucky today. Now I know better. Others here were not so lucky and are missing their family pet for negligence. read more

Always very clean and good with my two dogs that can be a bit much to deal with lol. All the vets and techs I've spoken with here have been very good about answering my questions and offering multiple treatment options. They are understanding when I deny a service (non life threatening) and don't push for unnecessary procedures. Healthy paws have been the most amazing vet for my puppy. The vets are friendly and thorough. Ace loves to come to the vet, and the staff is so welcoming and warm. They figured out and caught his Pannus (an autoimmune disease of the eyes and can blind them) before it got bad and were able to save his eyesight. I would have gave them no stars, I had to give something so I can warn people. We just lost our dog from the unprofessionalism of this veterinarian. He was sick for three weeks and I kept getting a run around and not correctly diagnosing him. They Never followed up with a specialist and never called me back. The day of his passing they said they never called the specialist and really had no answer for me. They kept giving him pills, never gave him an antibiotic to treat his infection and he suffered to the last day. I would never go to this vet, and I'm warning other pet owners of their neglect. read more

I have been bringing my dogs here for the last couple years and I can not say anything negative! They always get us an appointment super quickly. Office staff is always so kind and helpful. Dr. Cole always takes her time and gives my pets excellent care no matter how busy she is that day. All of the vet techs are always so nice (there is one man who always goes above and beyond with kindness to my dogs, treating them like his own and if I remember his name I will update this later). I have never had to wait even a second in the lobby. As soon as I check in they immediately get us back to the room and are seen very quickly. The office is always so clean and nice. I've had emergency issues with my dogs in the past and they immediately got us in and were able to fix the issue. If you are looking for a wonderful practice where everyone seems to actually care about animals and treat you well then you have found it. Oh and they are reasonably priced for the area, not the cheapest (but DEFINITELY not even close to the highest) but for the level of care they offer I am more than willing to pay the price! read more

After being a client for so many years it only took one incident to see that this place was NOT for our dog. I realize that its a business, but to send our dog home without any medicine to relieve the pain and inflammation was NOT acceptable. We were only given the option of doing x-rays first to see *if they can find the issue and at a ridiculous amount. We then decided to seek for a second opinion. The new Vet. immediately put our dog on antibiotics and did bloodwork first before suggesting anything else. The medicine is working and our dog is feeling a ton better. After being a loyal client for ten years I am disgusted with this facility. My eleven year old dog has been throwing up for three days. I didn't have any concerns the first two days because she tends to do that when she is stressed and after coming off the July 4th weekend I assumed it was that. Last night everything went downhill. She shook the entire night and threw up constantly. She won't eat and is only drinking small amounts. I called the office as soon as they opened and explained the situation. Their response was we can see her Monday. Today is Thursday!!! I begged for them to fit her in anywhere because I am so worried about her. She put me on hold and came back on and said they can't see her and maybe I should go to the emergency vet or find another one! Really? After ten years of loyalty to your practice that's what you have to say to me? Sorry Healthy Paws but you have lost my business and I will make sure to let others know how we were treated. What an appalling response to the owner of a sick pet that you have cared for for a decade. This is one of the most expensive veterinarian clinics I've visited. Today was my last visit and we're looking for a new vet. I brought my dog in for a follow-up visit for an ear infection. They had previously explained that the follow-up visits will not have an exam fee. When I arrive at the counter, they informed me I owe them over $90 for the visit. Half was the exam fee and the other was for the test. None of these were explained and caught me by surprise. When I asked about the exam fee, it suddenly changed to the third visit. Today is our second pet we have had to put to sleep after using this vet for both since we moved here. They have always been great about their care, but it's a whole new level when you have to come in for this type of service. The staff there could not be nicer or more accommodating. They make sure they give you plenty of time and space, handle all payments and paperwork beforehand so that you can not have to worry about anything in the waiting room afterwards. They reassure you, give you lots of choices, and in our case today, one of the staffers cried with us. We have now needed to use Healthy Paws services for two beloved family pets (babies). Healthy Paws, in my opinion, is truly full service. Both instances were with very senior cats at the end of their lives. The first was with Dr. Lauren Shores, DVM who is no longer with the practice, but is now in Cross Roads, TX at Village Veterinary, Dr. Shores was so compassionate with our Samantha. Her tone was soft, and she gave us all the time that was needed to say our painful goodbyes. We started working with another Lauren--Dr. Lauren Heathcock late last week,(who I thought was Dr. Shores, but was not) Dr. Casey Cole, though, helped us through the euthanasia of my dear Cameron. I live in Orange County, California. My mother of Frisco, Texas, has had "physical custody" of my sweet boy Cameron for most of his life, to give him the best life possible. Dr. Casey did everything possible to make sure that I could be there in his last precious moments via Facetime, even offering me her own phone that was on a strong connection. Both Dr. Lauren and Dr. Casey refer to the animals like the children they know they are to us, "Here are the results of Our Boy.." They offer all the options available but are honest and transparent where, in our case, treatment was only a band-aid delaying his great suffering. This was also needing service in the time of COVID-19. While owners and family generally cannot enter the clinic with their animal (curbside pickup ) -- they make an exception for euthanasia. They eased my worries that Cameron would spend his last moments alone with strangers. To both of our surprise today, a sympathy card arrived today signed by the entire clinic staff. Truly full of class. I have felt like I lost my firstborn "son". I immediately reflected that this veterinary staff showed more compassion and humanness than actual medicine doctors for humans do. Many people have experienced a cold and detached physician referring to a failing human life. These veterinarians showed more compassion than I've seen with human doctors. Even when not in an end-of-life crisis, When I pass Healthy Paws on my visits off FM 423, I look at them fondly for how well they love our most vulnerable and innocent babies. Even when they tried to call me back after my email response and left a voicemail I tried calling them back the same day and what a surprise I still haven't heard from them. If you care more about throwing away money than the care of your beloved pet - this place will make sure to hike up the price and not care about relationship or customer experiences. Below was my email to them: IMPORTANT I recently requested from 1-800 pet meds for heartgard for Chloe and Claire Carter since I did reach out to you folks twice in November and January and had asked if you could price match instead of charging almost double the price for Heartgard (I had also SPECIFICALLY mentioned to you that I still had 4 months worth of supply of heartgard for the dogs for Dec-Jan-Feb-Mar, therefore didn't need any until April) The first time I even tried to order the heartgard was November 27 (4 days after there visit with you) you of course rejected it due to the weight because they were over 25lbs (Chloe is now at 27lbs and Claire is now 26lbs) you stated they needed higher dosages (which by the way conflicts with some of the other veterinarians I visited that said it would be OK to give them the 25lb Heartgard considering they've fluctuated between 24-28lbs ). Furthermore after my supply was almost done I tried to order AGAIN from 1-800 pet meds yesterday so I can have their supply ready for April and yet again you rejected it due to them needing a heartworm test? Are you kidding me? The heart worm test are only required every year for the dogs. This to me is just another way of you folks charging for another visit and another test that's not needed till November 24, 2019. We had all of their updated vaccinations along with the heartworm test and we spent well over $500 just in the first visit alone on Nov 24 2018 why would I be rejected for getting the prescription that's annual ? Per my invoice it specifically states the next reminder for a heartworm test is November 24, 2019 and yet you're requiring for a another heartworm test when they have already been taking it monthly ?? I have never had this issue with any other veterinary clinics. Quite frankly, it's extremely upsetting to me that you folks are treating this irresponsibly from a customer and pet experience by not calling me or giving me some follow up for feedback. If you cared about your clients you would take the extra step, however, unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case . I truly hope no one else goes through this process, therefore you'll be receiving an in depth review from me online to help others avoid this customer experience and ridiculous pricing. You folks are only 3 miles from where I live now but I will have no problem driving another 6 miles to the other vet which has provided me much better service than you folks have. read more

I am sad to now give this practice such a low rating. We started with Dr Cole over 4 years ago. She's an outstanding vet. The problem we've been having isn't with her. It's the clinic staff's lack of caring, lack of being accommodating to figure out solutions in appointments. The staff is horrible with communication. They have ridiculous excuses for why Dr Cole hasn't returned my calls and even more excuses for why I show up for an appointment with Dr Cole only to find out that she's not in or that they changed our appt. The staff invariably says that a message was left. No it wasn't. Two days ago, I left a message asking to speak with Dr Cole on a personal matter. I was curtly told that she would get back to me when she can. Click. Receptionist hung up the phone. A few months back, we were having problems with one of our cats. I left two messages that were never returned. The call from two days ago still hasn't been returned. I can only presume that the staff is not giving Dr Cole our messages. I don't know what has happened to Healthy Paws over the past few months, but the place has gone downhill quickly. There has been a huge turnover in staff after a couple of the Dr's left, and the service just isn't what it once was. I recently had a grooming appointment for my dog, and when we arrived we were informed the groomer wasn't there due to a family emergency. That's fine, obviously these things happen and are unavoidable. However, the staff member then informed me everyone was called and told this over the weekend. I advised her I did not receive a call, but that was fine I would reschedule. She then informs me I did speak to them on Saturday and rescheduled my appointment for a month from now. Um, NO. I believe I'd remember having a telephone conversation with someone; not to mention if I had, I obviously wouldn't have shown up. The staff didn't bother apologizing for me showing up early in the morning just to be sent home, nor did she apologize for them not calling me, but basically assumed I was some kind of a moron or liar. I will be finding another vet and groomer... there's just no excuse for poor communication and lack of organization that is now status quo for this office. read more

This is by far one of the best Veterinary Clinics around... They addressed my dogs need immediately even though it was the holiday weekend, saw her the same day, and performed much needed dental surgery, the very next day! The Assistant Samantha Hinkleman was very polite, and full of new information regarding keeping my dog healthy and safe during this unfortunate event. Sarah Zeisler DVM was not only really thorough in explaining what kind of procedure was to be expected, but did a great surgery, and took a long time with me explaining everything, making sure to answer all of my questions, and advising me on what to expect after surgery. They called me daily after the procedure to check up on my baby, ready to address any needs I may have. I highly recommend this clinic for all furbabies! read more

I'm not sure about the reviews referring older service and the turnover rates, but I recently had to take my six-year-old Jack Russell Terrier in for an emergency after a bad experience with another vet. Her wrist is fractured and she's been in a splint the last month, and after having just done a visit with the original vet after an ongoing battle of her bandages rubbing her raw, my dog's paw started profusely bleeding later that day and the original vet had already closed. Healthy Paws was extremely friendly, clean, welcoming, and even though they had fully booked appointments, they were able to work my poor pup in within about 45 minutes of my call. Not only did they explain very thoroughly everything that was going on with her, but they gave us multiple options for her treatment. It's safe to say that we will be continuing my dog's treatment with these people, and for any other future pet health-related visits. I'd also like to make note of us using their grooming service earlier this year in February and had zero complaints. They cut exactly as we asked and closer to what her breed should look like instead of a British Schnauzer. read more

I have used HealthyPaws for several years and will continue to do so. During our uncertain times with the pandemic we have all had to make changes and visiting the vet has changed a little bit too for now. The reason for my 5 star rating is because the associates and veterinarians have bee so good to me and my 3 rescue dogs. I don't mind the curbside service either. My dogs get the best care and attention and talking with Dr. Cole on the phone has been very helpful. In fact I feel that I have gotten more individualized attention than the way things were before but maybe that's just me. The whole team at Healthy Paws has been very helpful in the transitioning of my 2 newest adopted pets. Also, I can't forget grooming either. Sharla is the best. She has made my 1st rescue dog Lexi look and smell her best. I have been highly satisfied with her work and friendly and professional demeanor. I have appointments made for my other 2 rescues and I am sure they will look great too. Thank you to Healthy Paws for helping our furry family members looking and feeling their best. I purposely signed up for yelp just so I could warn people about this place. Also, I wouldn't even give this place 1 star if it were possible. Took our cat there after receiving a free exam coupon in the mail. When we got there they took us into a little room and took our cat away "to be weighed". After about 15 min we felt uncomfortable and asked for our cat, this is when the vet comes in and tells us our cat is not wanting to give blood. WHAT?!!! give blood? we never authorized this! Apparently, the technician, decided on his own that it was necessary. We finally got our cat back but only after being treated rudely and unprofessionally by the vet, including being told she never even examined our cat before they traumatized our kitty with surprise blood work. Do not go to this place. They are unprofessional, rude, and not compassionate at all. read more

I recently adopted a dog and I went into healthy paws to get information and the lady at the front was very kind and answered all of my questions. When I called back the next day to make an appointment for a general check up and a bath the lady on the phone was also very nice and got us in the very next day. Since she was getting bathed as well, it was super convient that I could drop her off in the morning and the would do her check up while she was there so I didn't have to miss work. I brought in a dog yesterday that I found on the intersection. Dog was bleeding. It is obvious it was hurt. I took it to the nearest vet clinic which happened to be Healthy Paws. When I walked in all covered in blood with a bleeding dog, they looked at me like it was business as usual. I asked for help, they said doctor will be right out. 5 minutes later I was still standing there with the hurt puppy. When I started yelling for help, nurse or doctor came out and took him. A couple of minutes later, nurse came out and gave me $500 bill. She said they cannot do any treatments until someone takes responsibility for the dog. They got it stable they said though. It did not belong to me, it had colar with name and phone number tag. While they were trying to reach out to the owner, they kept saying that they would not be able to keep the dog if no one claims it and they will give it to the shelter. No compassion whatsoever!!!! I spent a few hours there calling different rescues and animal controls and trying to find medical help for the poor puppy. And this place has a big sign on their webpage: Pet Emergency? Read no further and call us right away! Well, it was an emergency!!!!!!!! They did not want to help at all even knowing the dog was in pain and we were still trying to locate the owners. I ended up paying 2/3 of the bill for x-rays and some medications and owner came and paid the rest and took pet home. Bottom line, this place is horrible. If you have a pet emergency with a stray hurt dog/cat, they will not do anything. I will never ever go to that place again! read more
