If only everyone was so helpful and friendly this world would be such a better place... I went in the other day to purchase a bag of dog food. As I was being rung up the woman at the register noticed that my account seemed "off". I told her I get that look often when I purchase from them and that several people have offered to look into it but nothing ever came of it. BUT not this time!!! Alec, the store manager, happened to overhear our conversation and told me he would take a look into it. I figured I might find out if the "problem" was fixed the next time I came in for food but I received an email less than 24 hours later letting me know that he was looking into the situation and had a message into the POS provider. Today (less than 48 hours later) I received another message from him telling me that everything had been fixed. Outstanding customer service!!! read more

So I have been coming here for awhile, and I called to specialty order a type of raw food, "Steve's raw food" over the phone my first time. Even though they did not carry it, they were happy to get it for me monthly. Since then, I came in with Bella to buy other things. My adopted dog had three pre existing conditions, bad allergies, a large tumor and arthritis. Since I have solves two of her conditions, with surgery and meds and a special diet. Bella is greeted with a treat each time. I buy her raw bones here, her fancy dry high quality dog food and get her raw food shipped in....as I really like the company and quality of Steve's raw. Checked out this pet store because online they state they have CBD oil/treats for pets. My cat has some health issues and I wanted to try CBD oil because of it health benefits on animals. After trying to get the attention of a sales rep I asked about it. The CBD oil they claim to sell is not CBD oil, it is hemp oil (which does have benefits, but not what I was looking for). When I asked the sales person about the oil, they didn't know anything about it and walked away (I was thinking they were going to ask someone), and never came back. I was then approached buy another sales person asking if I needed help, and again I asked about the oil and it's ingredients, said the graph on the side of the case shows it doesn't contain CBD. This person looked and me, and without saying a word, walked away. So I did my own research online and the product does NOT contain CBD. They are charging nearly $50 a bottle for hemp oil!!! Needless to say I will not return to this store. Please train your employees to know about the products you sell and don't advertise something that it is not. read more

Clean, well-organized store. Always top quality food and treats. Toy selection is limited, but adequate. I always manage to find something the kids like! ;-) GREAT staff- always friendly and knowledgable. This is definitely a very neighborhood-geared store, where the staff know the names of the animal 'regulars' that come in, and they always pass some yummy treats to the kids. HOWEVER I guarantee I will not be returning for some simple reasons; My husband and I walked in and were greeted instantly by a smiling lady, when she asked if we were looking for anything, I expected to be pointed in a direction and a "lemmie know if you have any questions". That is not what happened. This employee told us about EVERY possible product available, without acknowledging that we didn't want this attention, even going so far as demonstrating the effectiveness on a someone else's pet. (Without further annoying my husband) I hurriedly bought what was suggested so we could leave. After this product proved to be useless, I went back to return it. I was treated like a nuisance and like I was putting them out of business for asking for my money back. They almost always offer my dogs a treat when we come in. They carry a good variety of dog/cat foods, treats, leashes and rugs. I see they carry some items for hamsters and birds, too. There's a dogwashing station at the back - so that's kinda cool! Also, you can accumulate points via purchasing to get $ off here and there. read more

This is a terrible place to go to find pet food and supplies. Besides the way over priced garbage they "sell", their "service " is insulting! Mom has spent thousands of dollars there. Due to covid -19 and health issues, I had to go there instead. Upon arrival, the snotty bitch behind the counter was very reluctant to provide anything but an angry dismissal, demanding my personal information. Shaken by the her disgusting evil attitude toward me, I quickly gave her my information not my mom's. She said I wasn't on her computer, and was very dismissive and walked away. She ignored me likeI wasn't worth her time, or whatever she had in her imagination. Well, I have found better pet food elsewhere. There was an older woman with short grey hair and glasses stocking shelves when I brought my dog in. My dog got excited and took one of the treats out of the bin that they keep open on the floor. I told the woman upfront that I was going to buy all of them because I couldn't tell which ones my dog had licked. Right after I said that, the older woman came over and actually got in my face (bent down and was inches from my face) and asked me to stop my dog from mouthing the items. I wanted to ask her why the hell they would keep them open on the floor if they didn't want the dogs getting in them. I always purchase everything my dog mouths or licks at and really I didn't even have time to correct her behavior because the woman was on my ass so fast. Will be going to Sellwood pet supply from now on. My dog had done this at sellwood and when I tried to buy them they said it was unnecessary. This store is a great addition to the neighborhood. It's conveniently located near a Safeway so I can pop in any time I get groceries. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. My dog always loves coming here and they know her by name. They have made great recommendations for treats for my spoiled girl. Customer service is hit or miss. They also sent us home with several samples of dog food so that I could figure out exactly what would work best for my dog. Our local pet shop. Great pet wash with all the amenities. I love the zoom groom and the Earthbath natural soaps they provide. Working in this industry in the past, I am familiar with the top notch natural products and this store definitely knows whats up. My partner and I have been taking our rescue pup here for the last 6 months or so. Initially, we had a kind of unpleasant experience where we felt as though our dog was being somewhat discriminated against by an employee due to her barking and uneasiness around other dogs. She's a rescue who had been attacked by dogs as a very young puppy.However... due to the quality of products, great pet wash and the fact that we shop locally, we decided to keep coming in. Glad we did! Every experience since then has been great and today we were really impressed with the service (with the same person we had felt shunned by in the past). Remedied in my book. Been waiting for their dog wash station to reopen. It finally did but you have to make an appt at least a day in advance, no same day appts available. I arrived and noticed the dryer is no longer there. Would've been nice if the person who took my appt over the phone mentioned that. Not only is there no longer a dryer, they only give you two thin towels to dry your dog with. That's not enough for a larger dog. I asked for more towels but they charge an extra $1.00 per towel, on top of already raising the dog bath cost from $12 to $15. I don't care about the dollar for another towel in a normal situation, but Customer Service 101 would be for them accommodate and supply extra towels to make up for the absent dryer. I basically drove home with a wet dog in my car. I don't love this pet store for many reasons. They took way longer to reopen than any other stores during the pandemic, they never have anything I'm looking for, and now on top of the bad bath experience, I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

A little over 2 years ago our dog Lucy developed pancreatitis issues and had to go on a low diet prescription dog food. You know the ones that are expensive and you can only buy from the vets office with the vets prescription (already ridiculous) and with a high price! I gave Lucy this diet for all this time. We noticed she started having visible muscle mass loss especially on her legs a little after that. Then she started urinating on herself a few months ago and seemed to not be well most the time. One month ago, I went to a local Healthy dog food shop (Healthy Pets Northwest) in our neighborhood. The lady there helped me match up the right food compared to her prescription food with the bag I brought in. She said the problem was the food I was giving her had basically no protein. They found another matching low fat dog food but had better ingredients. The one we switched to was Nulo adult trim brand. One month later she is developing visible muscle mass on legs, seems to feel better, and the incontinence is getting less and less. So much for vets knowing what is best for your dog. read more

Love this store! Donna, Pam, Lucy, and Shannon are friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. They love pets and people, and treat my little guy like a king when we go in to shop. If they don't have it, they'll do their best to get it, and also provide extra-nice services such as putting items on hold for when my pup forgets to bring his wallet. I appreciate that all their foods and treats are healthy and good for my dog and for the planet. I don't have chickens, but if I did, I'd stop by Healthy Pets to get a custom coop for them. If I ever need to, I'll definitely stop by and use their self-serve washing setup. This place is great. read more

Looks like a decent pet store but we took our dogs there to wash them and we found the woman who helped us to be quite rude. She made us feel more of an inconvenience than anything else. She wasn't very helpful and was more concerned about us cleaning up once we were finished than showing us where all the supplies were to get started. I put my dog in the tub and metal and plastic grate fell on my dog. The employee made a snide comment about how she just assumes people would know about the grate or something as if it was my fault. Decided to bring our dogs somewhere that actually wants our business instead. Thanks anyways. Won't be back read more
