Healthy Smiles of El Monte has been a disaster: It has been nearly 1.5 years with no measurable progress. During this time they missed or canceled appointments without notifying me. The prolonged delay in treatment has forced me chew from the opposite side of my mouth, causing great pain and I believe damage to other teeth. I came in for a dental implant consultation and walked out before they ever got me in the chair--and here's why: I called ahead and told them I already had a recent CT scan, done just one week earlier by Dr. Leonard Lem, a highly respected oral surgeon. I had the scan on a USB drive and was told clearly on the phone that it would be accepted. But when I showed up, they suddenly refused to use it. No clinical reason--just "we don't accept outside scans." When I reminded them what they said on the phone, the front desk person replied that she "didn't want to get involved in a dispute." Let's be real: they likely planned to reject my scan all along so they could bill me for their own. They just told me it was fine to get me in the chair. That's not a misunderstanding--that's manipulation. The office wasn't busy (I was the only one there), and the staff wasn't exactly rude, but they weren't warm or welcoming either. The paperwork they handed me was printed in tiny, faint font--basically unreadable unless you squinted hard. That alone said a lot about the level of care and attention. My Review for Healthy Dental Clinic Unfortunately, my experience with Healthy Dental Clinic was deeply disappointing and concerning. I came in with severe molar pain and was met with little to no compassion or urgency from the staff or the doctor. * Lack of Pain Management: I was told they had to wait for "approvals" before doing anything, yet no attempt was made to ease the excruciating pain I was in. There was no empathy or consideration for what I was experiencing in the moment. * Traumatizing Experience in the Waiting Room: While waiting, a patient inside began screaming in pain -- loud enough to disturb and frighten everyone in the waiting room. When I asked the nurse what was happening, her cold response was: "That's what happens when people don't floss or brush." -- completely dismissive, judgmental, and lacking all bedside manner. * Cold and Uncaring Doctor: The dentist was not gentle, nor did she listen when I tried to explain the intensity of the pain -- that even air or a light tap on the tooth caused sharp, unbearable pain. Instead, she proceeded without care or acknowledgment of my discomfort. Due to this experience, I chose not to return for further treatment. A dental clinic should be a place where people in pain feel supported and safe -- not judged, dismissed, or ignored. Sadly, Healthy Dental Clinic lacked empathy, professionalism, and basic compassion across the board. read more

This was, without question, the worst dental care we have ever experienced. My husband went in for an extraction and bone graft based on their own treatment plan, and the entire experience was unacceptable from start to finish. He was not treated with proper care or concern at any point. The doctor/surgeon, Dr. Morris Ghermezi, came across as arrogant and lacked even basic chairside manners. There was no compassion, no communication--just a dismissive attitude. A few days after the procedure, my husband was still in significant pain, so we called to request a pain prescription. The assistant claimed it had been sent and blamed CVS when it never showed up. The truth is, the prescription was never sent at all. A week later, during the follow-up visit, the doctor casually said everything was "fine," despite my husband still being in serious pain. Again, no prescription was provided--nothing to help manage the pain or address the situation. They are claiming my husband was impatient and couldn't wait for 30 minutes and not sure until when (just to write a prescription). Of course, if you are not happy with the treatment, don't trust their system and in a lot of pain. At that point, we have no choice but to seek a second opinion from a competent doctor to find out why the treatment didn't seem to be healing. This level of negligence, lack of accountability, and complete disregard for patient care is unacceptable. I would strongly advise others to stay away. I may have to report our experience with some Dental Organizations. read more

Extremely disappointed in this place. After reading all the reviews I was excited to go in for my first dentist appointment after years of not visiting a dentist. However, my experience was horrible. Carolina was extremely rude an unprofessional as she got upset because I asked her to explain the breakdown of the cost of what my insurance was covering and my out of pocket cost. Caroline couldn't hold it together and had many face expressions showing her an anger lack of patience. She stormed out back to her desk as one of the dental assistant was so kind and helped me since she was too angry. When she finally came back and I told her of out everything they quoted me for what I was okay with and what I was going to hold off on she was just completely upset as if the sale wasn't going through. I asked if was getting a cleaning to which she stated no. So all I got was X-rays. Note I came in at 9:30am didn't leave until 12:30pm and all that was done was x-rays. I still decided to book for a deep cleaning for April 29th at 9:30am. I left with a bad feeling and concern of my experience with Carolina. Fast forward today. I received a call letting me know the dentist was sick and they would need to reschedule my appointment they stated was for the 28th. I informed the receptionist that my appointment was for the 29th and you can hear Carolina in the back telling her to reschedule me that the dentist will be sick. The receptionist apologized and stated that Carolina is telling her to reschedule me. I was so confused on how someone can claim to reschedule a patient 6 days in advance and state they will be sick on that day. I felt so bad for the receptionist you can clearly tell this was just pettiness from Carolina from our first interaction. This was just a personal attack. Which is mind blowing especially at her age to be acting so unprofessional and the level of pettiness in a professional setting is crazy. Sometimes you just have to trust your intuition and I will not be rescheduling. All this to say is follow your intuition. And don't fall for the sales pitch. There's definitely some training needed! Don't recommend if you want to know what exactly you're paying for. The lack of transparency, patience and care is mind blowing. read more

They have completed new staff that all they want to do is take your money. I been coming here for over 20 years every six months to get a cleaning. I'm so glad i found this dentist, my previous dentist was so bad, they were charging me to take my grey fillings off, didn't do my cavities right and also were OVER CHARGING me for an implant i need. This dentist told me i didn't have to pay for my fillings to be redone for white, they fixed my cavities that the other dentist messed up and helped me so much with the implant payment. Took my son to his FIRST dental visit and they were just completely amazing!!! They made him feel super comfortable right away and everyone was so friendly. They explained to him what they were doing, as they were doing it... and I think this is why my son just felt at ease. They cracked some jokes and asked him if he wanted to touch some of the instruments. My son was so happy when he left and was even more excited that he received a toothbrush and toothpaste.
