After being a longtime patient here I am heartbroken to have to find a new dental practice. The dentists here are great, a husband and wife team. The support staff, Jennifer, Jemma and Jason are outstanding. Unfortuneatly, like several of the reviews here, my issue is with the office manager, Alma. I've had a long standing issue with her method of billing and payment collection. I have always found her demeanor to be pushy and bordering on the unethical by over billing. I want to start by saying that I know I needed a lot of work done. It had been years since I had seen a dentist. I went against my better judgment and came to this office and was quoted $5k in work. Originally it cost over $10k but my insurance took the cost down. The dentist's assistant swore that I was getting the best level of care for the best cost.... I am 23 and do not even have 5k in possessions... I asked if I could split the work up for financial reasons and the assistant said it wasn't a good idea. She then says, "why don't you ask your mom for the money?" Well first off, the normal person doesn't have that much money lying around. Secondly, I thought that "solution" was not a solution at all. It was invasive as fuck. Anyway, 1 week later I went to my primary dentist and was quoted $1k. When I went to my primary dentist he laughed at the itemized bill that i got from Citadel Dental Group. Half of the stuff that this dentist wanted to do wasn't even necessary!!!!! I have since had the work finished by my primary dentist and feel much better about my choice. Do not come here. They are money grubby. They saw my insurance and decided to have a fucking field day. I will NEVER be back. Like never. Please save yourself. Do not come here. read more

I had a horrible experience and did not want to go back. I finally decided it was time to give it a try again so I researched and found Citadel Dental was covered by my insurance so I gave them a try. I am so glad that I did! The staff is amazing, so nice, and extremely patient! Alma, the office manager is so warm and welcoming. Rosie, the dental assistant was extremely sweet and patient with me as she took my xrays. The dentist explained everything thoroughly and showed me my X-rays to help me understand what we needed to do. She was so gentle with numbing my gums that I didn't even feel it! I'm not a consistent yelper, yet, after reading all these reviews, they make no sense after the wonderful experience I just had yesterday. Dr.K was going to be my 4th and last opinion before heading to USC. All the other dentist I had researched and are "5 star" belittled me and did not want to even try to help with my unforeseen situation that had become an infection with bone loss. As soon as I walked in the door , I was greeted pleasantly by the front office and Dr. K. They do have reserved parking of two spaces ..so what ? I have a business and I too have limited parking. They allowed me to move the cones to park because its RESERVED and you know what? I would not mind walking half a mile after the art Dr. K and her assistant did in my mouth and most importantly gave me options in order to get me out of danger. Dr. K's floorplan is an opened one and i seen her helping all patients at once and for me , that's comforting because she gets to see all her patients while working on one. My financial status isnt great because we have been affected by Covid19 however I will make an effort to save on the side in order to get more work done by her and shes gained 7 loyal customers thus far from this end. I highly recommend you give her a try because it's nice for a dentist to be forward and comforting rather than cold with no sympathy. Theres options and she gives them. Bottom line , she works with you and it shows that she loves what she does. read more

I haven't been to dentist for a while because of Covid, but it was time to go. I always went to the Pasadena offices, but since Dr Kouchek only works out of the Citadel office I'm going to Citadel now. I loved everybody at Citadel Dental. They are so nice and their work is amazing! Alma is so professional, she is very prepared. She goes over and above what most offices do. She calls your insurance and get your benefits in advance. Then she explained how my insurance covered the services. I love this office. I knew dr Koutchek would have a great staff, but I didn't expect such nice professional people. Love loved my experience. I don't mind it's more drive than the Pasadena offices, but hope Dr K start working in Pasadena offices again . 5 stars not enough for Citadel Dental. I would give them 10. read more

Waste of time!! Do not go here!! They made me drive back her twice for no reason. They have 3 different offices but only 2 dentists between them all. I have had 2 root canal fillings, from them, fall out! One of the teeth actually broke in half and I had to pay out of pocket to get it pulled because it couldn't be saved. And still have a the othtooth that needs to be crowned! Every time they told me everything was good to go, I show up to the appointments both times, which is a pretty far distance, and both times "something wasn't right" or "miscommunications". I had an appointment, but called ahead with almost a weeks notice prior, and said I'd have to move my appointment because I didn't have a baby sitter that early. They were supposed to call me if there was an opening for a later time, but I never received a call so I assumed they would call me to reschedule to a later date. Over a month goes by. I call in, to try and reschedule, and they proceed to say, "we can't give you an appointment, for missing your last appointment". Myself, like most parents work a 9-5, and can't just take off work, so Saturdays are pretty much my only option. Whole things is just super unorganized. read more

UPDATE: i did recieve a phone call from Dr Spero about two weeks ago and he attempted to "rectify" the situation. But I honestly thinknhe just wanted me to remove this review which I told him I qould not because that was my honest experience however I did promise I'd update after I saw my regular dentist. I just left the dentist office and my dentist looked at my xrays that did previo3in July as well as the xrays from citadel dental group and he also did a THOROUGH exam and cleaning of my teeth and he once again told me i have NO cavities and his exact words were "i don't know what they're looking at but you don't have any cavities" so all I will say is be vigilant in your health don't just take someone's word if you know something does jot sound right. And as Dr. spero told me it is always food to get a secind opinion which I did from someone who I trust and have trusted with my mouth for over 20 years so needless to say citadel dental group will never get business from me and I would advise anyone who goes here to get a second opinion before paying for pricey procedures............. sorry it is long but READ this before going here...I went in to get a consultation for braces. when I got there they did xrays which is normal and expected for a consultation however once the doctor came in is when things took a left turn. she comes over and tells me I need an exam and I told her no I just came in for a consultation and she continues that she has to do an exam in order to do ortho treatment (however, I wasn't starting treatment I was just there for a consultation). So she continues to press the situation and says she has to check for cavities so sprays water in my mouth and looks at my teeth and determines in less than a minute that I have FIVE cavities, mind you i just went to my dentist, that I have been going to for 20+ years and was told I have no cavities. So she explains I need to get all of them filled before I get braces because she may want to put a blocker on and cover my teeth and the bacteria will grow and it will get worse. So I ask are these new cavities because I just went to the dentist and she says no they have been there but some dentists have a "philosophy" to not fill cavities if they don't think it is necessary and they will just "watch" them so I explained again that I have never in 20+ years been told I have a cavity and her response is "well I'm just telling you the philosophy" so after she tries to get me to get fillings she finally talks about the braces and she is going to lie to my insurance company to get the money for the braces. After I tell her I am going to go see my dentist she says she will go print the pictures she took so I can take them to him (because I now am not eligible for an exam at my dentist for 6 months). she leaves and never comes back the front desk lady comes with a break down of how much i would pay for the fillings that I already said I was NOT getting there and the braces then proceeds to ask AGAIN if I wanted to start getting them that day. I told her no again and that I was going to see my regular dentist she gets up and starts walking away and I get out the chair and leave I never got the pictures that I was told I was going to get she gave me a business card and said email her if I need to and the doctor NEVER came back and said anything. These people are clearly just in it for the money and I would never recommend anyone go here read more

We met Dr Spero as an emergency on Sunday. I called at least 3 dentists that we knew and told them my husband was in excruciating pain but none of them were willing to see us in Sunday. Dr Spero said right away that he is willing to treat my husband. I understand, you'd say it's $ for him. But I think it was his heart and Dr duties. My mom was a Dr and I know that all doctors give the oath to help the patients in pain. Dr Spero made my husband very comfortable. We really liked his manners and attitude. My husband said that he was very gentle and kind when doing the surgery (he needed an extraction, we already knew about it) and made the procedure very easy to go through. So we are going to be switching our dentist to Dr Spero and his wife. I've been coming to this dentist office for over 2 years now. This dentist. Dr. Sparro is such a great dentist! He is gentle and knows if you have any discomfort he will stop to make sure you are okay with what he is doing. They only open the last Saturday of the month. But I needed some dental work done and the Dr. made an exception and saw me on a different Saturday! Amazing! He was even taking care of another patient with an emergency right when I was leaving. This great customer service is something you do not get with most dentist. This is why I am happy to call Dr. Sparro my dentist. To be honest with you, the entire staff is amazing. To start off I wish I could give this dental office a 10 stars. My husband was experiencing extreme tooth pain & was scared to go to the dentist due to his past experience. Once he landed in care of Dr. Farrah his fear was gone she took care of him made him feel comfortable. Before them we used to go to Acevedo dental and that's when we realized how ridiculous we were being charged before coming here. Because of this HORRIBLE doctor I have not been wanting to go to the dentist for months. This dental office only cares about money. They will seriously take payment before even working on your teeth. Not only that but Dr. Spero is so incredibly rude. He has terrible customer service, he teeth shames you in front of everyone and he guilt trips about the decision you make on whether or not you want him to work on your teeth. Because of this dentist I have been feeling so nervous to get my root canal that was already started by him finished. Finally I went to a new dentist. Someone that was caring, not self centered, didn't care about the payment right away and wasn't a total asshole about your decisions. Dr. Spero and Dr. K are both awesome and caring dentists. I found them one terrible night when I chipped my front tooth while at dinner (on a Friday night) I immediately freaked out and found Dr. Spero online listed as an emergency doctor. He answered the phone immediately, reassured me that all would be taken care of, and saw me the next morning at 7am. I was then worked on by his wife. (Dr. K.) she is the sweetest person ever. She was very gentle and soothing, she did a beautiful job with my temporary teeth ( I decided to just get both front teeth crowned) they even RUSHED my crowns so that I could have them put on ASAP. I have to start off that i have been very fearful when it comes to any type of dental work, but realistically who isn't? I was told a while back that i needed to have my wisdom teeth extracted, and of course.. i put it off due to the fear. So I had a sudden amount of pain on my left side and it was my wisdom tooth, it was impacted. So i set an appointment and went in, nerves on edge and all. I had a seat and the process was so quick, painless, and just overall amazing. I have referred a co-worker there and her children love it and felt comfortable. I'll admit, i'm looking to have my right wisdom teeth extracted very soon based on the comfort and communication of Dr. Spero throughout the procedure. I highly recommend this place. read more

Spiro is a quack! Had a horrible experience, he didn't kill the root from a root canal leaving half of the root still viable resulting in severe pain and infection. The only way to resolve his mistake was for me to loose my whole tooth. He left a drill bit in my tooth as well. He also lets is regular staff do hygienist work. Beware when having this man work on you he is a life threatening dentist who shouldn't be practicing. read more
