Vanessa is amazing! My boyfriend and I took our dog, Frannie, to her today. Though we both grew up with dogs, we've never had a dog that needed grooming before. When we first looked into getting her hair cut I was shocked to see how many groomers had slipped and accidentally cut their dogs. We did a lot of research on local groomers and found Vanessa. She was great, she talked us through what styles we might want for the haircut and what to expect. It's so hard trying to find a good groomer! My little Ricardo has been butchered several times, so needless to say I was a nervous about trying someone new. It's pretty rare that everyone gives a business 5 stars (I was a little skeptical) but seriously tho -- Vanessa is freakn wonderful! She asked me what length I wanted his hair, how I wanted his ears cut, and specifics about his "look" since I do not like the standard look of a Silky Terrier. She was done in about an hour with a shampoo, blow dry, nail clipping, and careful facial hair trimming. Not only did she make him ultra adorable, but she gave me advice on how to prevent matting and tips on how to maintain his human hair-like coat. I was also appreciative of how considerate she was of Ricardo. I let her know ahead of time that he gets nervous around other dogs, and she was very caring and compassionate of his needs. She really gave him individual care and he was waiting for me right on time. I highly recommend Vanessa, she is not only a great pet stylist but she's also a great resource. Yay I found a new local groomer!!!!!!! P.S. BTW, her rates are excellent, and there are a few off street parking spaces in the parking lot next to the Pride and Pedigree building. read more

I don't trust my dog with many people (if any), especially groomers, but I'm sticking with Vanessa from now on. My dog, Chloe, is a 16 year old maltipoo. She can't see or hear well, has a lot of bumps and sores on her skin (which most groomers seem to have trouble avoiding), and is very sensitive about having her feet and face touched. The first time I made an appointment with Vanessa, I made sure to let her know that Chloe may need extra time for her grooming, and that I would be happy to pay for any extra time that she felt was needed to make my dog as comfortable as possible. She could have easily taken advantage of me there, but she didn't. In just 1 hour, Chloe went from looking like an old matted mop creature, to a happy, short-haired puppy. Today (6 months later) I took Chloe in again. Her hair and nails were in the same terrible condition that they had been the first time, and her health was much worse. Still, Vanessa groomed her beautifully, in just 1 hour. Chloe had a rough time this time around, but I only know that because Vanessa was nice enough to tell me about it. Took my pup here for the first time yesterday. He came back looking fantastic, so soft and smooth and no detail overlooked (fur between his toes, ears cleaned, glands expressed, etc.). She styled him exactly as I intended and I left with tips on keeping mats at bay and a handy written report on what was done. I do not write reviews very often, but I feel I must. Vanessa used to groom my best buddy, Max, until the end of his loving life. He was not the easiest poodle, and he took a strong disliking to many, but he adored Vanessa, and she always did a fabulous job on him. After I lost Max, I lasted about three weeks without a dog, but then Tucker, a rescue Yorkie, and I found each other. I had never had him groomed, but his furry little slipper feet were getting out of control, so this morning, Tucker and I became Vanessa's clients once again. As always, she was gentle and loving with both of us, listening both to what I said as well as what I did not say. Vanessa is one of a kind. Not only is she a gifted groomer, she is a wonderful person, and I am so grateful to have her to take care of my fur baby's grooming needs. Max hated being in a cage, which was one of the first reasons I appreciated Vanessa's unique method. Tucker is even more skittish, so imagine how good I felt when I arrived back at the shop with Whole Foods grocery shopping completed, to see Tucker happily curled up in Vanessa's arms. Vanessa grooms our boy Keeper when my girlfriend brings him to work, and recently she did a special request for us and styled him in the Pomeranian Show Cut. The attention he (and by default, we) receive whenever we go for walks is massive and never-ending. Yes, Keeper's a cute little dog by himself, but Vanessa's cut makes him look like a superstar! We LOVE Vanessa! Our 1.5 year old Shih Tzu, Pabu has been groomed by Vanessa since he was a wee pup. She is so sweet with him, she always checks in to make sure we want to stick with the cut he's been getting. Her by appointment only schedule is great, our pup never has to sit in a small cage scared for long periods of time. Our favorite part is the report card that he gets at the end of the appointment. As a new dog owner (at the time) it was so nice to see that Vanessa took the time write out all of the good and "things to work on" for the next visit. We have always had problems with groomers making our Lhasa Apso look terrible and paid a load of money all these years for it. when we found Vanessa through Yelp and took Conan for his first visit, we were pretty impressed. Vanessa was very attentive and asked lots of questions on how we would like Conan's hair cut. He was stunning when he came out. Today was Conan's second visit and this time he got a summer cut and Whoa!! He looks amazing! After trying at least 6 other groomers, I finally found one who cuts our flat-coated retriever's hair properly. I am very satisfied with all aspects of Vanessa Padron's service. She is friendly, skillful and clearly knows what she is doing as evidenced by the precision scissor cut she gave Ollie. Flat-coated retrievers have long, black hair that is susceptible to matting, burrs, and it doesn't grow out right if cut with electric shears. Ollie looked fantastic after 2 hours with Vanessa. I really like how much time and detailed attention she gives to my dog. Vanessa is gentle and genuinely loves the dogs. She was on time and charged a fair price for the amount of work needed to get Ollie lookin' so good. The location is convenient and it is easy to park.
