1 star -- The worst customer service I've experienced. I've been given the runaround for over 6 weeks trying to replace a hearing aid that stopped working. It first took over a week just to get someone at the local office to answer the phone. The corporate office couldn't answer any questions and kept redirecting me back to the San Francisco location. When I finally reached the office, I was told they would simply order and ship a replacement so I wouldn't need to come in. Three weeks later, I still had nothing. I had to repeatedly call just to get someone to answer the phone again. At that point, they claimed there had been issues with corporate getting the replacement sent out, but assured me it would be shipped immediately. Two more weeks passed, and I discovered that wasn't true either. After leaving yet another voicemail that was never returned, I finally went into the office myself. That's when I was told the replacement had never even been processed because they supposedly needed the broken hearing aid first -- something no one had told me during the previous 6 weeks. So after being without full hearing for over a month and a half, I'm now being told it will still take at least another two weeks if I'm lucky. This level of disorganization and complete disregard for a patient's wellbeing is unacceptable. The only reason I used this location was because it's the only provider covered by my insurance in San Francisco. If you have other options besides HearUSA, I strongly recommend avoiding this location. read more

My husband has been a HearUSA patient for over two years, originally at the Pinole office with Robert Rapoport, who provided exceptional care. After that location closed, we transferred to the San Francisco office on Sloat Blvd, and the quality of service has remained outstanding. We've now met with Emma Noble twice, and she has been incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and thorough. She even stayed after hours to accommodate our schedule when my husband needed new molds and replacement Signia batteries. Emma took time to carefully test the new hearing aid, adjusted all the parameters, reinstalled the Signia app, updated the settings on our phone to make sure everything was working perfectly. My husband has been diagnosed with severe hearing loss. He's been wearing hearing aids for several years. but in the past year, I realized he was not hearing conversations even with his hearing aids and even if I was speaking right next to him. We did some research and found that Hearing USA covered our Medicare costs for hearing aids. We dropped by a Hearing USA office near our home in SF. We had some questions about what hearing aids were available, their features, as well as the covered Medicare costs. We met Emma and she was so helpful. She had the time to explain some things to us and told us about a newer high tech hearing aid that's considered top of the line. We made an appointment through our Medicare Advantage insurance. We learned that only part of the cost would be covered but we made a choice to go for it because the quality of life for my husband would be so much improved. We ordered the hearing aids and I must say they truly make the difference! i know longer have to speak loudly! Even when i speak softly, he can hear it! Emma was the greatest help. She takes the time to listen and help fit your hearing aids. She knew the products and because she had a hearing impaired parent and pretty well understands what the needs are. We are very happy with the service provided at this Hearing USA location. We live nearby and if my husband has issues we can rely on Emma for help. read more

I was visiting from out of town and my hearing aid was not working . Hear on Sloat Blvd. talked me through replacing my ear wax filter over the phone and even offered to replace it that day! My hearing aid works fine now. I called my home HearUSA, in three days I still have had NO response. read more

I was so upset she did not allow my service dog to be with me during my appointment. She said there is carpet in the hearing booth. And that's not acceptable. My dog is ADA certified from Canine Companions. I'm hearing impaired and my dog give me a sense of security. read more

This review is more about Hear USA than about the people working in the SF location. Hear USA doesn't have many providers (e.g. one in the SF location) so you have to wait months to get an evaluation. If something happens to the one provider like she gets sick, you have to wait for additional weeks to get an appointment. Then it takes a while to get the hearing aids (some of which is reasonable), but if anything goes wrong you have to wait weeks to get another appointment to talk to the provider. It's inefficient and doesn't show respect for the customer -- most of whom are elderly who can't hear. They must continue to wait to get products/service while their overall well-being suffers (e.g. dementia advances with the inability to hear). All of this makes me wonder about their business model/practices of Hear USA given the high prices and lack of genuine care for the customer. As for the office staff, Emma and Kari were kind and helpful. read more

I went there last year am I got a new hearing aid . The person in the front desk was nice the doctor was nice. I needed to have my hearing aid adjust it and it's been almost 2 months now and They haven't had a doctor so they can adjust my hearing aid and I have to go to San Mateo .I find that very inconvenient how is it that you can't find a doctor for two months to be in the Sloat location. True Sound @ Lakeshore Plaza SF, Ca. ( Inessa & Rene) changed my life for the better! Thank YOU cannot express my appreciation. I got to True Sound thru Hearing.com and after my first hearing test they were the only ones who asked me to wait until after an upcoming sinus surgery for my ears/hearing to adjust and re-tested me (and hearing had changed). At the time of my 2nd visit True Sound & Hearing .com were offering a deal (buy 1 hearing aid get the second one 50% off) . The minute True Sound (Inessa) put the aids on, adjusted, and programmed them my ears and brain jumped for joy - I could hear AGAIN and my brain and whole being relaxed (from not struggling to hear). MY Life has completely & positively changed due to True Sound's attention to detail and I cannot recommend a visit and their services more highly. I would not give any star if that is allowed. To a healthy person, the service this store provides is unacceptable. To an ailing person in the mid-80s, this is cruel. My dad went to this store for hearing aid before the end of May 2015. He did the test, gave all his information and was told the hearing aid would be ready in two months. My dad has never heard back from the store, so in first week of August, he called. The store person could not find my dad's records while my dad was on the phone. Then, he called back and said my dad had to do the test again and the hearing aid would not be ready until another three months later. About four days after this phone call, my dad received a letter from the insurance company saying it is lacking information necessary to approve my dad's hearing aid. A hearing aid is crucial equipment for someone with hearing loss, but this store needs close to 6 months to get it done (hopefully). How many more "6-month" does a person in the 80's has? Also, after the promised ready in 2 months was not met, this store does not inform the patient of the status. If my dad did not initiate the call in August, he will just be waiting forever. Last but not least, applying for insurance approval should be a daily routine for this kind of business. However, the facts that it omitted to submit certain information so as to cause the insurance's disapproval, and lost my dad's test results (or the test was not done correctly) simply shows that this store is unprofessional and does not know what it is doing. I receive replacement hearing aids every three years from a Worker's Compensation award. This year I had a consultation with audiologists at the California Ear Institute for a recommendation of a new hearing instrument. They recommended the Phonak Audeo Smart IX as the instrument that would best serve my needs. These are expensive instruments, so my Worker's Compensation insurance carrier shopped for a discounted price. True Sound HAC in San Francisco came in with a substantial discount. Arrangements were made for payment and an appointment scheduled. I was most impressed with the professionalism and service of True Sound Hearing Aid Center. Located in a shopping center on Sloat Blvd. there is ample parking, restaurants and shopping, whereas the previous vendor was located on a busy street with only on-street parking. The new Phonak instruments were programmed and the remote volume control linked. These instruments are phenomenal, far surpassing my previous Siemens units. I was also able to order and purchase a Phonak iCom Bluetooth adapter that allows me to link my cell phone to the hearing aids for convenient hands-free operation. This unit was also discounted. I highly recommend True Sound Hearing Aid Center. read more
