I'm not a patient here, but one of my Mom's best friends in. Actually, she's been here quite some time. When we walked into the hospital we were quickly asked if we needed assistance. I'm not sure how new the hospital is, but it FEELS new(er). It's very clean without having that sterile, hospital feel. I like the signage. I was also amused by the vending machine that sells scrubs. I suppose that would come in handy should one of the employees forget or need a new pair of scrubs. The nurse who came to attend to my Mom's friend was very pleasant. She engaged in small talk about her own personal life and had a caring demeanor. Overall, I think it's a nice hospital. read more

Update: after speaking with a clinician not affiliated with Lovelace, apparently this is an issue with Lovelace. She said "I have heard unless you camp out there you get no communication" for such a small hospital this is crazy. First part So.... 2nd time here w hubby for surgery ie the bad news. It's difficult because I worked in healthcare for years long ago and wanted so badly to really like all about this hospital. But our doc, Dr Proffit is excellent. Bedside manner and of course competence are so important. He has both. Nice person and doc. BUT their communication and discharge planning are beyond abysmal. I know they have contract and traveling nurses but seriously folks, I got NO call from the time we went in to Westside and then at Heart. No how he's doing, no when he will be discharged no nothing. Having been a Kaiser patient for about 30 years in So Cal I know they have systems down to a science but I literally felt like saying "oh you want him go home, well you drive him" If you won't give me the common courtesy of letting me know you fail. i have a highly abnormal nuclear stress test, heart monitor that shows svt, and every time I stand or walk my heart rate goes from 70 to above 130 bpm and blood pressure drops below 100/80. i'm on week 3 waiting for scheduling to call back just to get an appointment with a cardiologist. I am reviewing The Heart institute. This Lovelace facility and Lovelace is now is run by Ardent Health. Ardent aka Lovelace has some good physicians. However with decent insurance the bill you your specialist co pay for an office visit along with a 211.00 charge for the doctors office room rental. The visit was 25 minutes. No instruments were used than the typical take your blood pressure with a cuff. Ardent only has the vascular services at the Heart Institute, not the hospital building mind you which allows them to charge patients for room rental for a doctors office. They don't even bill the room in 15 min increments. Mind you my insurance paid another 200 for the room rental. That's over 400.00 to sit in a regular doctors office room without specialized equipment for 15 minutes. Schedule back to back appts. and they make 800 and more for having you sit in a room for 15 minutes. You have to chose a different insurance than Lovelace aska Ardent if you need vascular services if you don't want to rent the room with insurance for this charge. So like my doctors in other Lovelace facilities. Have to change my healthcare plan because I'm not able to get vascular doctor doctor office visit and I refuse to pay a copay and to pay to rent the room for the doctors office. read more

The original review was taken down. My experiences at the Heart Hospital was horrible. I got flown in on a med-flight, where I received morphine in flight. My time at the hospital, saving my life felt like combat, my mother, a nurse wondered why the doctors and nurses were not treating me kindly. She found out from a nurse she knew that due to a drug test showing morphine, I was labeled a drug seeker. At one point I was moved to a room where house keeping literally came in to get linens. No one checked on me, and my room felt like a cell. The doctor was a total jerk, treated me with disdain. My partner at the time was a doctor, so I chose not to sue the hospital, but I really wanted to. In appointments afterwards, the doctors basically told me there was nothing they could do, that I was dying. That was ten or eleven years ago. I had to leave New Mexico and go to Mayo Clinic in AZ to have my life saved. F' Loveless and their Heartless Hospital! read more

Wonderfully attentive and professional service at Heart Hospital of New Mexico. We ended up there while on vacation and could not have been more pleased with the kindness and responsiveness of the staff. They made a difficult situation much less so and were able to run tests and get back to us with a diagnosis within a relatively short period. I don't want to have to return, but I'm grateful they were close and that they were capable. read more

We are thankful to all the doctors. Dr. Ramos came by to check on my father and was so patient with my aging parents questions. As for the level of care during recovery? They are truly despicable human beings..... if you dealing with a heart attack or anything life threatening this is the last place you want to be. They won't take you seriously, they will treat you like your an idiot, and they will send you home to die. Bed side manner does not exist in this hospital. I spent 90 minutes on the phone transferred to countless peoples and not one person could provide me an estimate of charges for an upcoming visit. I do not have insurance so it is critical that I know this. How can they not know? This would never be tolerated in any other industry. Disgusting. read more

I'm writing this for my 85 yr old father who isn't on the Internet. He had an oblation procedure at Heart Hospital. According to my somewhat difficult to please father the doctor, nurses and everyone involved were extremely well trained, professional and friendly.. He also mentioned equipment was top notch (he was an engineer ). I had been pretty worried but the doctor called me after the procedure and advised me that all went smoothly. My dad is recovering nicely and I am so grateful to the hospital and the staff for all they did. read more

Feeling that I needed to be checked out for unusual sensations I was experiencing, I checked in at this hospital and was cared for immediately. They took lots of blood and x-rayed my heart. Thankfully, the problem was mostly related to stress and exhaustion. I would definitely recommend this facility. read more

Even after asking weather the doctor I was seeing was In-Network, and being assured that she was, I was billed $100 OVER my insurance co-pay, AFTER THE FACT. I was told this was a facilities charge because my doctor was not a regular at that facility. If a patient is told that their doctor is in network, they expect to pay their normal co-pay, and not incur an additional bill after the fact. Simply tell the patient that the doctor is not in-network and additional fees will be charged. This is deceitful bordering on criminal. I will NEVER use Lovelace again. Who want their healthcare needs served by deceitful crooks? read more

All I can speak to is the total lack of communication from the doctors about my father's care. The nurses are not told anything so they are no help. My father would ring the call button for assistance and it would take 10-15 minutes for a nurse to arrive, The nurses were very nice and patient but they need to have access to more information so that we knew what the hell was going on. read more

The only experts there are the cardiologists & surgeons . My mothers life was saved because of the cardiologist and surgeons there. I can't speak of many doctors but dr Tseng is the worse hospitalist ever. Very unprofessional and should have his license provoked. My mom left this hospital about 3 weeks ago from having a Stimmy heart attack (worst heart attack you can have) and he was suppose to order all these things for her to get done. My mom and I asked them numerous times to give her the medication she needed and they wouldn't listen. He came in as she was being discharged as some of her levels were reading that she was borderline in kidney failure. I told them he needed to make sure she wasn't . & he refused to get anything else done for her until I mentioned sueing and his license if anything happened to her further . He was just trying to get her to leave. They gave her no cardiologist to follow up with, on top of a bunch of other issues. She then had to go back in the ER 2 nights ago and the cardiologist was not happy that Dr Tseng did not do his job correctly. He does not care for the well being of his patients and it shows. He needs to be let go and his license revoked immediately! read more

I went to the Heart Hospital in Albuquerque, NM with heart attack symptoms and found out I have AFib again. Dr Mitchell and all the staff there were the nicest and most professional people you'd want to meet. They couldn't cure my problem but got me stabilized and on the correct path to help. I am now following up with a cardiologist at the Heart Institute. I highly recommend them. read more

A one star is FAR TOO HIGH. If you do NOT WANT TO SURVIVE a cardiac emergency, come here. The registration staff told me, in the PROCESS OF A HEART ATTACK to just "sit down and wait your turn!" When my partner tried to explain it was an M.I. she had NO IDEA what that was. I'M AN M.D.!!! She was rude, uninvolved, uncaring, disdainful and like something out of a terrible movie. IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO SURVIVE COME HERE. We left and went to another hospital where we had INCREDIBLE response with immediate IV, EKG, medical attention. This place is so bad it is beyond belief. The staff rarely answers questions from the patients and most notably irritating is that while people are staying there recovering from major surgery or procedures someone will show up in their room and present them their current bill this is not helpful to their recovery in fact many cases it elevates their blood pressure and heart rate something that should be done even their case manager has said this is a very irritating thing for many patients and yet they still do it... read more

After asking the Drs to call my Endo at another facility to question about the relation I am experiencing with a pituitary tumor and possibly something with an adrenal gland causing fluctuations with my blood sugar and blood pressure, I believe the Drs were offended by calling another facility to get further information from my Endo about the possible connection. After that They only gave me one third of long acting insulin I usually take and I showed them the notes from my Endo's notes showing the amount of insulin I take. The Drs refused to give me that much stating they were giving a lower dose because they think it is too much. Not when someone has Cushings and is a nightmare on the body in every aspect including being insulin resistant. Then they did not want to deal with me the next day. I was told I was getting other tests and never did and actually threw me out of the e.r. after staying in the hallway most of the day and night since I arrived in the morning on Tuesday. That is called medical malpractice folks! Then to be escorted by security and assaulted by one of them in the ambulance bay which there should be video of it as well. Lovelace has been hell to get any good services from in the e.r. either at the downtown or heart hospitals. read more

Took my father to the emergency room for a possible heart attack which he has a history of. Wait time wasn't long. AWFUL and VERY HATEFUL staff! The two young ladies at registration were nice and helpful. The nurses and doctors were awful and hateful. VERY RUDE. The doctor even yelled at my father for a simple question about his test results. What kind of health care providers cause a heart attack patient that type of stress?! The type of stress to where it could cause high blood pressure and increase the chances of having another heart attack?! Seriously. It was a very horrible experience! Not only was the staff very rude but they would not give us any information on my father. The nurses did not respond when the call button was pressed on my father's bed either. We weren't expecting an immediate response at all. Just a simple response. 2 hours later, I had to hunt down a nurse. Ridiculous!!! read more

On 11/11/17 we were at a hotel in Albuquerque in route to Texas, my husband, Saul, was taken by Paramedics to the Heart Hospital of New Mexico...In the emergency room they determined that he had a heart attack. From the moment he was taken into the time he was released, the care was phenomenal. We so appreciated not only the doctors, who were caring and very on top of things, but all of the staff. The nurses were exceptional explaining everything that was happening and going to happen. Today there are so many negatives in our world. Our experience was superb and we thank this fabulous hospital. read more

Had a heart procedure at NMHH. As a new resident this was my first experience with any hospital in Albuquerque. Everyone we met was very nice and helpful. Phoebe, the nurse in the same day unit was skillful, knowledgeable, and caring. Could not have asked for a better nurse. Dr. Bieniarz is a very skillful and knowledgeable interventional cardiologist. My only reason for 4 stars is the fact that the hospital asked me for a $250.00 deposit for the heart Cath. read more

My dad died in this hospital. He was admitted for minor lung issue and cured but then he was placed on the machine. Why? the doctor said, "we tried to give him CPR..." and then with a louder tone he said, "...but if I give him any CPR then I will BREAK his RIBS" I was shocked to hear this. I noticed that when he was placed on the machine he was tightly duck taped and tears were rolling off him. He couldn't speak cause he was given heavy drugs. The RN told me that he was trying to pull the tube so we HEAVILY sedated him. But few days later he was dead. The ventilator machine collapsed his lungs. I asked the discharge doctor that what was the cause of death and he said, "collapsed lungs" Earlier, I asked an RN what was my dad's prognosis and she said, "he is dead" So I said but what about the machine? The RN said the machine is set to max but he is not breathing on his own. I didn't even get the chance to say goodbye. He was gone so suddenly but later I had an astral travel. read more

We came to HH via their ER when my wife was haven't chest pains. As soon as they verified her ID they got her immediately back to a room, and immediately on an ekg (happily ekg was normal). She wound up getting admitted as a precaution to monitor blood enzymes and such so we got a pretty good overview of things. We experienced 3 shifts worth of nurses and they were all amazing! Jerry in the ER was knowledgeable, attentive, explained things well, and was realistic as opposed to fatalistic or Pollyanna! Blanche in hospital proper was also amazing...knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, answered questions. Private room, clean, enough space to be comfortable. Docs were also great about explaining tests, procedures, concerns, etc. Hopefully we'll never need to utilize them agaim, but if either of us have any heart usdues, we will definitely come here! (All was good in the end/no heart attack, but we're relieved we came and didn't take any chances!) read more
