There are so many things to say about this establishment, I don't even know where to begin. I am completely disgusted by the lack of empathy and respect for the loved ones in their care; and from the staff to the families that come to them at the worst possible time in their lives. I have heard several rumors about this place, allegedly losing bodies or replacing ashes with incorrect loved ones or kitty litter even and not saying a thing just covering it up. In good conscience I had to say something for anyone considering bringing their loved ones here for cremation. There have been several instances of funeral directors, one in particular, Samatha Zamora, hiding to avoid families and intentionally ignoring their calls. They have no respect for families - they say vile and hurtful things about these families behind their backs. They make you feel like a number not a person. Inappropriate conversations were constantly being held in the lobby or foyer areas regarding employees which is very unprofessional. Their constant turnover caused them to hire a woman named Marina who has uncontrollable anger issues and random outbursts. She is known as a job hopper in the funeral community who jumps around from funeral home to funeral home because she is unwelcome and un-respected as a funeral director. Heart of Texas is now her last resort of a job, which speaks volumes about who is handling the care of YOUR LOVED ONE. I hope you find this review helpful and think twice before choosing this place to handle the care of your loved one in a respectful and caring way. This is somewhat outside my normal reviews, which focus on food and entertainment. However, it applies to a service which few think about except right at the moment of need. I found Heart of Texas when I was assisting the wife of a old friend of mine, who passed away. Other funeral homes were quoting prices of $1200 on up for a cremation, plus various types of funeral services such as embalming, or open/closed casket ceremonies. These services were not needed, as the family had already said their 'goodbyes' and had closure. Heart of Texas offers a cremation service and copies of the death certificate for about half the cost. They answered every question we had, and handled every step of the way with consummate professionalism and compassion. Perhaps the kindest touch was when they gave us a U.S. flag to accompany the decedent, who was a veteran, to his interment at a military cemetery. I highly recommend Heart of Texas' service. read more

They messed up every single part of this process. Took them at least a week to pick up my father's body from the hospital. They lied about it and said they had it already. They didn't know where the body was half the time. Sent us other peoples paperwork. Billed us for services that were already paid for. It took 6 weeks to get my fathers ashes and they still messed up the names of the death cert. read more

This is such a good service. A good friend died unexpectedly and the family had no idea where to start. Our friend was frugal and efficient so we chose "direct cremation" - i.e. no embalming / viewing / service. Thanks go to Jonathan for getting us started. We were quoted a fixed price of $595 for transportation, cremation, and processing of the death certificates (which included notifying the state health department and social security). Official death certificates cost $21 for the first one, $4 for additional ones and $10 for mailing. The family provided an urn but could have gotten one here for a low cost. We transported the urn back to the family. This service allowed the family to handle our friend's remains quickly and hold a memorial in their own time frame. They are planning a barbecue outside - something our friend would have liked. read more

Unreliable and thoughtless. They were to notify us when to expect to receive shippment of our daughter's ashes. They didn't. Instead, they showed up unexpectly in a ripped/damaged cardboard box with no information. I needed to prepare my wife to see them and instead the driver handed the tattered box to her as she took out the trash. Also, they dropped the ball sending us death certificates. They did everything just fine but my problem with them is when we went to pick up my mother's ashes. We got a call saying she was ready for pickup along with the death certificates. So me and my father drove there and the door was locked, I get that because of Covid, but then a girl came to the door and asked if we were there to "pick up" and not in a nice way. Yes, we said and gave her my mothers name. She asked us to stand outside and wait. She came back with a form for my dad to sign and then handed us the bag with my mom. Like we were picking up dry cleaning. She wasn't nice at all, almost like we were bothering her. I noticed we didn't get the death certificates so I asked. She said they hadn't come in yet. I told her the phone call we got said that they had. So she went to check and sure enough they were there and she handed them to us. She hadn't even looked, she was just trying to get rid of us. It was a terrible experience. The person handing over the ashes of a loved one, should try to be nice to the people picking up ashes. read more
