The staff are all so kind, welcoming, answered our questions without judgement, and were so gentle in caring for our sweet girl. Compared to other pricing in the city, it seems slightly above average for their services, but felt it was worth it for the ease of scheduling, the usefulness of their online site, responsiveness of staff, and the friendliness. Very friendly staff but not as knowledgeable of their offerings as they should be. I gave examples of the chewable my dogs used to take and they offered me the largest and most solid pills I have ever been given for my dogs. They could not even take them. I called to see if they could rectify this since I purchased the pills based on their recommendation that they were in fact chewables. read more

I grew up in South Jersey but I actually live elsewhere now and here for a visit with my dog. Brought her in for grooming and cannot be happier with the results. The person that did the grooming Izaiah listened to everything I had to say about my dogs haircut and he delivered better than expected. I am one of those real picky, parents, and like things done a certain way, and I walked away. Very happy that I had to come over to the city from New Jersey to have her grooming done. I am surprised to seeing so many negative reviews because that must be a thing in the past because I cannot be happier with the service I received. Definitely if you had any doubts, you should just forget about them and go in for a visit whether it's for grooming or for your fur babies health, they will get the best service in Philadelphia!!! read more

This vet was the only one open in the city at the beginning of the pandemic. So I took my cats there for care and shots. They seemed to be a good place, although the first visit they left the top of the carrier unlatched from the bottom so it fell apart on the way home. The next visit was somewhat different. A tech there was on a hook up app, Grindr all day while my girls were there for treatment. I don't appreciate that, they should be focusing on the patients. Then the tech hit me up, I said I wasn't interested. Then the practice discharged my girls from the practice with no explanation. That's very unprofessional and makes me question their integrity. The cats needed medication and care and they didn't care. I have since discovered City Cat Vets on South street. They are excellent! read more

I had a HORRIBLE interaction with the receptionist Marleen/Miley and Dr. Amber Karwacki. My vet abruptly closed down, forcing me to change vets, so I made an appointment online. Once I made my appointment, I called to confirm that the Broad Street location was close to Mom's market. ( I am new to the area and do not have a car.) because I recognized they have a fee associated with reschedules, tardiness, and cancellations. I was assured that my appointment was booked at the correct location. A week later (today), 30 minutes before my appointment, I put the address into Google and noticed that this location was not next to Mom's Organic Market. I immediately called and spoke with Marleen/Miley, who told me they could not change my appointment to a closer location but told me that I could call the other location (East Market) because they had a 5:30 appointment available. I asked Marleen/Miley if I would still get charged for the cancelation fee if I transferred my appointment to the East Market location. She told me, yes; I would still get charged. She said that "she misspoke" and that the East Market location does not have a 5:30 availability today. She then asked me who I spoke to, who confirmed that my this location was close to Mom's Organic market. I explained to her that I was not given a name. She blamed me for not checking before my appointment and not getting the receptionist's name. I explained that I did not check the location because I called to confirm this information with a live front desk representative before to ensure this would not happen. I explained to her It does not make logical sense to reconfirm a confirmation I received from someone who works at this facility. Furthermore, I explained that I did not get the receptionist's name because the receptionist answered the phone and did not greet me with their name. I then asked to speak with someone else who was "above her" because she was rude and unhelpful. The conversation with Dr. Karwacki started pleasantly; but she was not actively listening to me and kept reiterating what the receptionist said. The trajectory changed once I explained to Dr. Karwacki that I walk (I do not have a car) and that this location is not feasible. She responded that some customers live close to the east location, and can walk four blocks, with no issues, and did not understand why it was difficult for me to do the same. I was highly offended, and I explained to her that statement was an ableist comment as 1 block vs 4 blocks might not be feasible for some people, especially for those with disabilities. I will admit that I was raising my voice as I was shocked that a medical professional would suggest that I should be able to walk 4 blocks because other customers do it. She began to talk over me and explain that she would not tell her receptionists to ask each customers if they could walk 1 block vs 4 and that it is their responsibility to check if they can walk to the facility. I explained to her once again that the problem is I was told the wrong information from their team and I should not be charged due to receiving incorrect information, and that it was ableist to suggest that if other owners can walk from East Street to their location, why can't I? She then hung up the phone on me. My major problems with this interaction 1. The lack of responsibility: Their receptionists gave me the wrong information, not ONCE but twice. Once about the location and the availability of another Heart + Paw. 2. I was under the impression that Dr. Karwacki believed I should charged a fee because other people walk from East Market to Broad with no "issues" and refused to understand that someone with a disability may not be able to walk "4 blocks", which is why if someone calls and asks to confirm the location of a facility it could be because they have limited ability to WALK. 3. I have an appointment with Taylor this morning at 9:00 (10/26/22) the appointment was made by Peter at the frond desk. He informed me that they needed the vaccination records I said to him I would bring them the day of the appointment he said that was fine. I was in the location the Saturday before the appointment to confirm everything and everything was confirmed however this morning when I got there with my little 2 pound dog he said my appointment was canceled because they didn't have the vaccination records and I informed him I told him I was bringing them with me and I brought them with me. he informed me that I could leave the dog and she would squeeze them in sometime during the day and that was not convenient for me so I said all right I'll leave and I left I went back five minutes later and said to him cancel all my appointments if that's the way this business is round apparently this Peter has no idea how to operate a front desk. My dog Ivy was being super lethargic, not eating, her eyes were all gunked up and I was so worried! and my usual vet and so many others were closed on saturdays! But not Heart+paw!!!! They made an appointment for that very morning and I was able to get her in and get the problem solved. They were super kind and professional and I really felt like I could trust them with Ivy. I hate not being able to be in the room bc of covid, so I was so pleasantly surprised to receive an email that summarized the entire visit down to the details of ivy's demeanor in the room, as well as things I didn't even come to the vet with concerns for such as notes on her vitals, teeth, skin, etc. I appreciated how attentive they were to understanding what's wrong with ivy and the best way to make her better again. I will definitely start coming here as my regular vet from now on. read more

I had my first appointment today. Initially I was concerned, I had to drop my puppy off and couldn't go inside (due to COVID). He had to get vaccines, someone picked him up out front. That was it, and my puppy was gone, i was worried about him being a crazy dog mom that I am. Later I got a call from the vet explaining what the plan was and then we picked him up.A few hours later he was not feeling well and I freaked out. He threw up and was crying a lot. Dr. Krishnan went above and beyond to help. At the end of her day she said we could stop by again, she took a look at him and gave us some pain medication. She was so good with him and he really liked her! I totally trust her with my baby and highly recommend them. Her actions helped, and several hours later puppy is improving. Her compassion and advice really are the factor that made me decide to keep going back. The service is not comparable! read more

This is the most unprofessional establish I have taken my dog for grooming. I get a call 45 minutes after dropping my dog off that she was ready for pick up. They charge me and bring out my dog with a half shaved body (head untouched and body shaved to the skin) with spots of long hair all over and cuts on her chest and legs. They told me "she was giving them a hard time and the groomer decided to stop"... (she's been to 3 previous groomers in Boston and they all have given her nothing but compliments on her behavior) I paid $60 for my dog to have injuries and her coat destroyed! The groomer was standing immediately out of the front door smoking a cigarette on the phone without a care in the world. If you love your pets, please don't bring them here! read more

We've been taking our dog to Heart and Paw East Market since they opened for both grooming and her routine veterinary care and we love it. The staff is super helpful and easy to communicate with specifically through text but on the phone if needed. The facility itself is convenient if you live in center city and is new, clean and welcoming. Dr. Lynn specifically has been great and always taken time to thoroughly discuss treatment plans and options. Unfortunately our dog in her old age came down with a chronic illness and Dr. Lynn was amazing in delivering that news to myself and my wife. She took a lot of time with us answering questions, helping us navigate the next steps and planning how to give our dog the best life possible and we will always be extremely appreciative of her time and caring nature. read more

If I could rate zero I would! Our appointment was at 10am with a 10min grace period. We were there with more than enough time however parking is HORRENDOUS! We tried our best to get close enough because we have a large dog(too big to carry)& he is very lethargic and doesn't want to walk much. We had no luck so had to settle for the closest place which required an expensive parking fee. Literally walked in the office at 10:12 and the woman at the front desk said we owed an extra $35 for being 12mins late. I explained due to the grace period we were only 2 minutes late, she said it didn't matter that we owed the $35 for the two minutes because it was stated in a text message they sent us. Needless to say it did not state that on the text message or anywhere on their website and even showed her our phone so she went to get the manager he took 20 minutes to talk to us because he was busy on his phone, when he finally came over to us he accused us of now being 32 minutes late! How are you going to tell us that we're late because you were on your phone for 20 minutes? I also don't understand how they accept walk-ins but because we made an appointment and we're 2 minutes late they wanted to charge us extra and then wanted to charge for canceling the appointment! Well good luck with that because they do not have our information, I am appalled with the customer service at this place. I honestly do not think this vet needs that extra $35 that bad and if he does that's a damn shame! read more

Excellent daycare with caring staff. But can't be relied upon during the holiday season. We had made a reservation for Black Friday weeks ago and they just cancelled on us two days before. This ruined all our plans which we had with family that came to town for Thanksgiving. Very disappointing. read more

We took our sweet 13yr old dachshund because he was having trouble breathing we though he had a respiratory infection. Unfortunately our old man Hardy had to be put down. The doctors nurses and staff were so loving and understanding at how truly heartbroken we were and didn't rush us and gave us time to say goodbye to our boy and reassured this Momma that she was doing what was best for her baby. two week later we got a beautiful card from them that they all signed and told how sweet our boy was and they could tell how loved he was. At first look, Leo looked good when we picked him up after his grooming apt. He was happy and nice and fluffy. When we got home, we noticed his hair cut was completely uneven. In some spots his hair was almost two inches longer than others. His legs were cut so uneven he really looked bow legged. He still had matts in some areas. When you pay $80 + $20 tip, we shouldn't have to do damage control when we get home. We spend about an hour recutting him, getting all the matts out and making sure his hair was even. I give three stars because the convenience of the appointment. We were able to book online, drop him off out front, then pick him up in less than two hours. I wouldn't come back for another grooming appointment. read more

Good for socializing small dogs. I'd recommend taking larger dogs to the park. As I was told, by one of the more sincere employees, doggy daycare isn't intended to serve as a convenience for working dog owners (maybe it's me, but I thought that was precisely one of its selling points.) Still a -- especially after being permitted inside (COVID protocols lifted) and saw just how little space is allocated for the dogs to actually play. This was my suspicion before being allowed to enter the premises but WOW! For the judgmental look I got when I confessed that daycare is a load off for me during the workday, you'd think the facilities wouldn't squeeze the pups into a small play space with an enormous waiting area for their humans. It's such a shame because it's a convenient location. But there are alternatives. Especially for grooming if you want to save a couple hundred bucks. read more

Took my dog there to get his nails clipped... it was the only place open during covid. I didn't want to clip them myself, afraid to cut his quick. They cut not 1, not 2, but 3 of his nails down to the quick which left him bleeding. Would highly not recommend as my dog is going on 6 years old and this has never happened. read more

Bad first impression. My vet is closed as is my groomer. I saw that Heart + Paw was still doing grooming. Super nice on the phone I made an appointment. I arrive after a got lost Lyft driver finally figures it out. First question I'm asked did you bring his vaccinations record? No! They did not tell me this during the appointment set up. She asked if I could go get it and come back. That would take an additional 3 lLyft rides. I said I was disappointed and would probably not return. No apologies offered she said fine and went back in. Huge customer service fail! read more

I brought a stray kitten here for an initial exam and rabies shot. I had no complaints with my experience here. The staff that I interacted with was really friendly, it was easy to schedule an appointment (didn't hurt that I didn't have to wait a month to be seen either), they based their care on the situation instead of trying to up charge me a bunch of services I didn't need, AND there's a loading zone right outside. I pulled up, handed them my cat (covid times) and sat in my car during the exam. It was as easy as a vet visit could be. read more

We take our dog to day camp here and she loves it! The staff is really nice and you can tell love their jobs/playing with the dogs. She always pulls to get in there because she is so excited and comes home super tired. I also love how you can text them directly to schedule and they will text throughout the day with pictures/updates. read more

I took my dog here because it's nearby, but they are a typical corporation that just wants to squeeze every dime out of you. My puppy was 6 months old when I switched vets. In that 6 months, the dog was seen maybe 8 times. When I got him from the breeder, he had parasites. It took Heart&Paw 4 months to get rid of them. They will not give you a heartguard prescription. Instead they make you bring in the dog for a full visit where they will give you 1 pill, so you're forced to make a visit every month. I asked the vet to separate his vaccines and the vet told me that she separates the vaccines for her own dog but that she's "not allowed" to do that for other people's dogs. Most visits cost around $300. They also do not allow you to go in the exam room with your dog, taking the dog's comfort person away and adding stress to the animal. They don't care about animals - only their owners' wallets. read more

I only went to Heart + Paws 1 time. My dogs groomer was at a different grooming facility and they closed down and so we followed her to her new job at Heart + paws. So we only went there because we love our groomer so much. She handles my dog amazingly. We went in March. Now its june and a pandemic in philadelphia. Money is very tight. I wasnt happy with the grooming prices but again our groomer is amazing. Made an appt and got a call that my dogs rabies vaccine expired May 29. Currently no vets or Paws are doing vaccines due to Covid-19. I said that and it's literally only 5 days past due when he was due to come in. They offered up their vet. And wanted to charge $75 for a vet visit and $32 for the actual vaccine and then another $70+ for the grooming appt. Basically almost $200 because hes barely 5 days past due. I called Paws, VSec and Rittenhouse Animal hospital and they all said while you should get vaccinated the vaccine is still active several WEEKS TO SEVERAL MONTHS past the pets expiration. And being that Heart + Paws has a on-site vet , clearly they know that but would like to get as much money out of me as possible during a PANDEMIC. I havent worked since MARCH. Their grooming prices are way too high but I was willing because again, we love our groomer. So Taylor gets 5 stars but Heart + Paws should be ashamed of themselves for this. You have his vet records. Its 5 days. People have to eat, pay rent, pay utils. My dog is 12 and has so much hair hes panting because it's hot out and you want to have me pay an EXTRA $107 because of 5 days?? Just sad and ridiculous. I bragged to everyone about this new center city location. I'll be letting everyone know you guys clearly have no heart. read more
