Ray Ramirez came to our office and provided CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid training to staff. He was informative and made the class interesting. It was clear that he took the training seriously but was having a great time teaching us. We were able to do hands on work between the lecture sections. It helped to bring everything together. I hope I never need to put what I learned into practice but I'm grateful for the knowledge. I really appreciated that as we practiced CPR that he kept reminding us to breath. Just took PALS here, and would definitely recommend it to all! I chose Heart Start based on their Yelp ratings & the discount. $204 for the class not including the book (which I got on Amazon). All instructors were great and broke everything down in an easy to understand/implement way. They really care about you walking out of the class having learned something you can apply in your practice, rather than bombarding you with unnecessary information. I have taken BLS for Healthcare providers 3 or 4 times with Heart Start. They have been consistently reliable and are very competent instructors. I will renew again with them next time. The AHA written test has some poorly written/trick questions and they prepare you adequately for that factor. read more

The instructor was knowledgeable, clear and precise. The training was nice and streamlined. However, we work at a school, and while we did learn about techniques for children, his presentation was not geared toward helping children. I had to ask to practice the CPR technique for children. He seemed agitated whenever someone had a question. Surprise, many if the questions were about children. read more

Matt was a great instructor for our PALS/ACLS class. He makes class fun (as it can be) and reduces any stress/anxiety first timers have taking this course. As a group of nursing students we were able to get a group rate and the instructors came to teach at our school rather than all of us having to travel to San Ramon. This morning I took a BLS/CPR re-certification course from Heart Start CPR in San Ramon. I signed up via their website with ease. There were many options to choose from for course dates, locations and times. Our class started on time, and was taught by AHA Instructor David Ybarra. David made the class easy to follow with plenty of opportunity to practice hands on, ask questions, and he made it fun! The learning environment was very relaxed with positive coaching from our instructor. The location is easy to find with ample off street parking. The classroom is very clean and comfortable. I took a CPR/First Aid class on a Saturday morning and the 3 hours went by very quickly! It was reassuring to practice CPR on the manikins, and learn new "rules" since the last time I took a class! We also learned how to use the AED machine. If the need ever arises...I hope there is a Philips AED machine around! It was a great reminder to go through basic First Aid training. So, as I stated above, I returned to Heart Start (San Ramon location) the first week of the New Year to take the initial PALS class. Took my ACLS recert today. The class was quick, easy, stress free, and very informative. Class consisted of a few videos, skills check, algorithms, and a quick review. It went by really fast so I can see how someone may get a little lost or confused if they don't ask questions but the instructor, Matt was great with making sure everyone was on the same page and understood the material well.
