The remote for my fireplace gas insert was "eating batteries". Brand new batteries would be dead in a few days. Something was obviously not right with it. I took it to Hearth and Home who immediately called their supplier. The very next day a new remote was delivered to my house in Jefferson Township. Excellent service. read more

I had Hearth and Home a number of times to fix my gas fireplace. The only thing that was ever done was to rearrange the logs and to tell me it was working. It never did. I finally gave up (that's on me). Now I am selling my home and the realtor provided the name of Luna Fireplace and in about 10 min they had the problem figured out. I needed a new switch. I'm glad the new owner will have a nice fireplace to sit by and enjoy. read more

Our gas fireplace has not been working properly. The guys from H and H came today and were absolutely great! They diagnosed the problem quickly, fixed it and even took the time to clean all the glass surround. We are incredibly pleased. read more

I went here to get a new fireplace for my house and I went a few times with other family members and all the employees were kind of weird in one way or another. Ended up getting a cheaper fireplace from somewhere else but we knew what model we wanted and got it for cheaper. Can't complain. read more

Friendly people helped me with fire brick and other wear items for my wood stove's annual tune up. I really like their Jotul cast/iron stoves! Also sells outdoor fire pits, big green egg cookers and all kinds of fireplace tools. Apparently the feds imposed new emissions requirements in 2020 and the woodstove manufacturers had to put out all new models. The variety and selection here was still a little thin when I visited in April 2021. You can only get to Hearth & Home from Route 46 eastbound! And go slowly, this place has a sign yet still is easy to miss. If you come from the west you'll have to do some awkward U-turns, maybe in white castle LOL read more

I called there last week because our newer fireplace unit will not light. The receptionist was quite condescending and made me feel like her company had no interest in the job. She was negative and unkind. This is the second time I have tried to schedule them and I will never try again. Having a broken unit does not make you stupid or deserving of treatment like this. Like others here, I had a bad experience. I explained the issue and waited six weeks for the appointment to give me an estimate. The day before the scheduled appointment, they called to cancel the cleaning saying they would reschedule but had no date. I explained that I needed an estimate not a cleaning and she said that I must not have been clear about what I wanted when scheduling. A day later someone else called to say they would reschedule the appointment for two months later. He also thought I needed a cleaning, I said I did not. After putting me on hold, he returned to say that I needed to pay for the cleaning to get the estimate. All three people had terrible attitudes, one blamed issues on other employees. Awful experience but I feel like I dodged a bullet after reading other reviews. read more

I really wouldn't recommend this brand. We have 3 inserts 2 from another company and this is the one that we have had problems with year after year. If that's not bad enough just when you need it the most they are 6 weeks out to get a service tech. That should tell you how many problems they have to fix. read more

I was supposed to have this beautiful wooden surround with a granite face and hearth. After they installed the natural gas insert and set up the mantle, we realized they did not leave the space for the tv as we requested. He explained the insert was too hot for the wood surround to be any lower. It would have been nice (and ethical) if he had recommended a different insert when we were purchasing all this from them. So, we then had to pay for a stone surround, lost our $500 deposit on the granite and were stuck with a $3000 fireplace surround for which we have no use. Nope...he wouldn't take it back. I couldn't have been more pleased with the customer service I was given at this store. I was at home, trying to start a fire in our fireplace insert but confused about how to operate the dampers. We had purchased the insert quite a few years back but the woman who answered the phone looked up our account, and called me back with the information I needed. She went above and beyond for me and I really appreciated it. We have stopped into the store a few other times and all of our exchanges with them have been positive and informative. Over the course of a year we've had many interactions via telephone, email, in-store, and on our property and every single person we've spoken with has been knowledgeable, friendly, reliable, and honest. They converted a wood fireplace into a gorgeous gas insert, completed necessary repairs to the interior of the chimney and our water heater liner, and rebuilt our chimney due to a large crack down the middle. Haven't used their services but called concerning the blower on my wood insert. The woman who I spoke with on the phone ( i forget her name ) was SO nice and helpful. She explained to me a lot about my insert I didn't know and explained everything to me I needed to know about it and how to properly use it. I never write reviews but felt I had to share. I had called inquiring about installing a gas fireplace and was told to come into the store. During the conversation I told them we lived In Pequannock. Two days later my family and I went to the Ledgewood store and were greeted by a woman. We told her we were interested in installing a fireplace. She asked where we lived and I replied "Pequannock." She replied, "Pequannock, really?" I responded that I previously called and it was only a half hour away. She said she would have to ask her boss and is not sure she can help us. Well, you just lost a customer. We walked out. read more

If I could give this store zero stars I would. I called Hearth and Home a few months ago asking if they replace fireplace hearths. They said yes. I had to wait a month and a half for them to come out and measure. They gave me a quote of $325 which did not include the stone hearth. They gave me names of the local stoneyards they use and told me to go to one of them, pick out my new hearth, pay for it, and they will arrange getting it to my home on the day of installation. Great! I did that immediately. I now had Hearth and Home on the calendar to clean my chimney ($155) and now install the hearth ($325) on the same day as well. The two men assigned to clean the chimney also apparently install hearths. They removed the existing stone, and disposed of it. When they were retrieving my new hearth from the truck I commented on how filthy it was. I was surprised as this was not the same stone I purchased only a few days earlier. The two men assured me that it will clean up fine. Well, it didn't. I called Hearth and Home, and emailed them the pictures. The woman I was dealing with from HandH rudely told me it was not their responsibility to clean the hearth and proceeded to tell me they did me a favor picking it up from the stoneyard and bringing it to my home. She then said since I purchased the stone it was my responsibility to deal with the stoneyard directly even though it was her two employees that picked up the filthy stone and assured me it was going to clean up fine. It did not. So to sum it up, yes Hearth and Home will install a new hearth for $325, send 2 men that clean chimneys to do masonary work, leaving gaping holes in the mortar that is suppose to secure the hearth down, work for 45 minutes and then leave you with a horrible looking end product. After this experience, now I'm concerned how well they actually cleaned my chimney. Shame on you Hearth and Home. Your customer service is horrible. I had them measure for custom doors. No way in hell I would ever step foot in that store. read more

Hey all! Just stopped in this store because they were. Recommended dealer for The Big Green Egg. They had one sitting out front that they use themselves and were very familiar with the products. The 3 people we met were great, kind, and just as enthused about the girl as we were. They offered us their own experiences and feedback on the unit compared to what we have had with other models. They were offering great financing in the grill too!!! (0% 18 months!!!). I would strongly recommend coming here for any fireplace, wood stove, or grill needs. This is the type of customer service that everyone asks for. To them, it doesn't seem like work. We will be going back. read more

I know, I've done business with them for 25 years and I do not miss my yearly fireplace cleanings. Heads up: they are very busy in the fall, so book your service or work early but then again, I would question the quality of a fireplace business that was slow in the fall! I really appreciate the wonderful guys you send out to clean my fireplaces every year! Hearth & Home has maintained employees through the years, always a sign of good owners who treat their people well. This is important to me as a former small business owner. Therefore I understand and respect business hours. At the end of a very long day (often the 7th one) a few minutes past closing becomes 30 becomes... The only downside was the availability of their crew members. If you need something looked at (i.e. repairs, maintenance, installation), then you will need to book in advance -- WAY in advance. Removed and an old heatilator unit and rebuilt to a traditional firebrick fireplace for a very reasonable price 2 years ago. Outstanding workmanship by a 3rd generation mason and apprentice. Highly recommend - excellent craftsmanship. Spent several days at site and each day left clean and tidy. Would use again for any hearth needs. read more

I was headed out to this store to purchase a wood insert. I called earlier in the day to find out the hours and left in what should have been plenty of time. We should have arrived 45 minutes before closing. Unfortunately after we were halfway there, traffic took over. I called to see if someone would be willing to stay for an extra few minutes and was told if we weren't going to get there by 7, not to bother. The salesperson told me he was new, and I asked if a manager or someone else would be willing to stay and was told no. Given the hour and half plus drive (which I explained), the unexpected traffic and the cost of the item, I would have thought someone could have made an accommodation.
