Omelet with mushrooms and tomato, with tots.
    Lauri L.

A nice little place at MCI. We stopped in for breakfast and tried the omelet with tomatoes and mushrooms, and a bowl with bacon and avocado. We both also got the tots. The eggs in both dishes were cooked very well -- not over cooked like you get so many times. The tots looked really good but tasted like they were cooked in oil that something else had been I overcooked in. They had a burned taste, even though they didn't look burned. The atmosphere was pleasant. There was music and nice decor. The server was fine. Overall, we'd try it again, but hopefully that oil in the deep fryer gets changed!

Reviews are spot on Nice place, nice ppl, blah food. Menu doesn't match airport website menu. KC is a better food town than this airport.

Handicap accessible seating at the bar, power outlets everywhere! Bartender is fast with drinks. They have local beer and liquor from Tom's Town and Rieger.

    The Breakfast Sammie
    Kayla Y.

What saves this review was the surprisingly fresh ingredients in my breakfast sandwich and the fact that my food was hot, which told me that it was made fresh and brought immediately to my table. The breakfast Sammie has everything you want in a breakfast sandwich, tomatoes, lettuce, an egg over medium, and slices of crispy bacon. The tater tots were greasy but not in an overwhelming way. What lost points for this location is the customer service. There's a host stand but no host so you'd hear the staff yelling "it's self-seating" to customers almost every five minutes. A sign would be helpful for them. My waitress was slow and overwhelmed. She couldn't remember the five breakfast options offered and resultantly returned to many of her tables to ask follow-up questions about the orders. She was not efficient with the way she moved through the restaurant and seemed to have a hard time multitasking. My water never got refilled and it took nearly 10 mins for her to realize my plate was empty to bring the check over. There were other waitresses working the room, taking care of their customers, and helping my waitress with hers. I can tell the staff hustles here and that should be credited. Sadly, I just had the one staff member who couldn't.

I'm pretty patient but when I came in the server never took my order so I just left. Maybe they should hire more people.

There are plenty of seats available to handle large number of guests. I made a quick stop at the lounge before boarding for my flight. The check-in process was made quick and easy by a friendly staff member at the entrance. They had plenty of dishes, fruits, breads, bagels, muffins, cheese and lots of other items served for breakfast. The bar was serving alcohol, handmade drinks and sodas. Even though I spent a short time here, I was so impressed with this lounge's interior, the friendliness of the staff members and the quality of food and beverage.

I had an early flight out so it was quiet, with maybe 4 others in the lounge with me which made for a relaxing prelude to my red eye. Likewise the staff greeted me quickly and quietly, almost librarial. I was surprised to not hear anything from the kitchen it was that quiet. The bar wasn't open since it was in the wee hours but the breakfast options were good. I haven't really been disappointed with any SkyClub's food offerings but I appreciated the biscuits and gravy; something I don't often find so was nice to have as an alternative to the usual scrambled eggs and turkey sausage. Definitely worth the Skyclub price of admission.

It is a far departure from once was the KC airport, pun intended, and is now a wonderful space filled with lots of space, artwork, local flavor, outlets, amenities and options. The airport is larger than you think, so a walk between terminals could run you 5 - 10 minutes, so be cautious on your tight connections. The airport is laid out well, with each terminal being easily navigable from start to end. The food and outlet options are solid as well, with many grab and go options, but also a fair amount of dine/drink in too. Shops are plentiful, pricey, but plentiful. Additionally, they have lots of spaces for workers on the go featuring counter seating with chargers, some of which are wireless. Also have resources and spaces for the kiddos and even dog areas. All great additions to any airport, and really nice to see here. Overall, I really dig the KC airport. In the last few years, flying in and out, I have had no issues and have enjoyed my travels!

While the hotel leaves much to be desired, KC Tap & Table their captive kitchen actually has something going on. They have a legit mixologist on duty at the right time, and a curated menu that hits most of the right notes. With a glass rear wall overlooking Berlin Reservoir, outdoor seating and room for breakfast, the space is comfortable and spare enough for private conversation. Service is also light, so there is a wait between seating, ordering and delivery. Despite that, what you see on the interesting menu is worth the time invested. I had their Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries. It may have been the best grilled cheese I had ever eaten in a restaurant (my homemade version is still my favorite). This baby is actually an inverted griller. The cheese is melted on the outside of the multigrain, with delicious sautéed onion bits and spices within. Each bite was a crisp cleave with lovely crunch from first to last. The fries were also crisp and tasty. Looking around the bar where I was stationed, the other folks also had good looking plates to consume. Everyone seemed relaxed and satisfied. Conversation was likewise friendly and interesting. Tap & Table does it right.

The first two tweaks were manageable, but the third change (after KC hosted the World Cup) finally lost me, and I haven't been back since. The current version is two small, lighter-colored crab cakes not as fried as usual , with a very strong cilantro taste that overpowers everything else. If you're a cilantro fan, maybe that's your thing, but for me it completely misses what a crab cake should be. The crab itself should be the star, not the herbs. Hoping they bring back the old recipe, because this used to be a happy hour staple.( mozzarella sticks are still bomb though)

This particular location rebranded and is now called five four restaurant and drafthouse. They remodeled the inside and it's actually quite nice and much more roomier than before. The front of the restaurants is regular seating and the back of the restaurant is the bar area and patio. It's quite nice how they separated it. The Food is good, it's mostly the same food with a few additional items in the menu. But is super slow. We've come to this location about 4 times since moving back to Kansas City and every time, service is super slow. We usually go on a weekday around 4:45-5 pm for dinner. And it almost always takes at least 40 minutes or more for our food to come after ordering. The servers rarely come back to check on us. We always have to flag down whoever we see to get our server to come back for ordering, or getting more dressing, or getting our check. We love coming here because it's close and convenient to our home and the food is good, but might have to come up with another option if service is always like this every time we come.
