    Smoked maple latte
    Jamie S.

I always love checking out cute coffee shops, and I was happy to stumble upon this one during a recent trip to Cleveland. I love the ambiance -- very light, airy and open. The service was impeccable. I got the smoked maple latte, which was interesting -- definitely tasty, but a bit too smoky and not enough maple in there. I'd try a different flavor next time. I'm only taking off a star because there isn't enough seating. There are 14 tables plus one long table in the center, but most of them are 4 tops, and each had only 1 person sitting at them -- so it was pretty tough to find a spot to sit. We finally did, but it took awhile. It's definitely nice to have this coffee shop in the area though, since there aren't too many on the east side!

First time at Heartwood Coffee Roasters, but not my last! While my daughter is visiting from LA, we're on the hunt for coffee shops. Found a good one today! I opted for the 12 oz. Americano, my new favorite flavor. My daughter got creative with her choice of the smoked maple latte. Delicious! It was already crowded by 10 am. Everyone was working on laptops, except for one pair with a serving of avocado toast between them. We perched at a long table on stools until we noticed one table in the back being vacated. With only 12 tables and most of them seating 4 at each one, the available seats for customers are reduced when singles are at the tables. Maybe switch out some for tables that seat 2? We're still glad that we found the Heartwood, located at Pinecrest. We'll be back to try more of the menu offerings.

Cute, modern coffee shop in the Pinecrest complex. The shop is much bigger than it looks from the street, with ample seating in the back. The atmosphere is a little noisy, as things seems to echo and there were many people having meetings and conversations, rather than working independently. I got a cortado with smoked maple syrup. It was good, although I couldn't taste much of the smoked maple flavoring. I also got the avocado toast with hard boiled eggs. The bread wa really good and toasted, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I didn't really enjoy the massive amount of italian seasoning that was sprinkled on top. I also thought the whole thing could have used some type of sauce, like a balsamic glaze. Their drip coffee was peach flavored. It was a great blend and I would definitely return to try it again or grab some beans . I also got a pastry that was a mix between a muffin and a donut they said, that was like snickerdoodle flavored. It was okay. The service was friendly. I love the decor and all of the plants they have inside.

My daughter and I stopped in on a chilly Friday morning around 9:30 am and were lucky to grab the last open indoor table. This place was packed with people on their laptops but still had a friendly vibe going. We got a hot maple latte, and iced honey buzz latte and an almond croissant. The coffee was great but there was a really sweet filling in the croissant that was tasty for her but a bit much for me. We will come back in warmer weather to check out the patio.

Pro Tip: Order "quick coffee" to avoid waiting during the morning rush. It's just a good cup of freshly brewed coffee. The barista at the checkout will quickly pour it for you. I've stopped by Heartwood Coffee Roasters at Pinecrest on many occasions, most recently this morning. It always left a great impression on me. The space itself feels open, bright, spacious, and swanky (for a coffee shop). It's an ideal place to socialize in a contemporary atmosphere (inside or at the spacious patio). I wouldn't necessarily work from there, it tends to get crowded. Also fun fact is that is place was recently nominated for Best of the East award by the Cleveland Magazine. The line this morning (around 9 AM) was very long (it's one long line, not multiple checkouts). The line moved surprisingly quickly. I was able to browse their swag and coffee bean section while waiting. Many guests used the bench at the front of the store to wait for their orders. I ordered quick coffee (light roast brewed coffee). You can also choose between light and dark roast. The coffee was plain, nothing outstanding. I also took plain croissant and cinnamon roll to go. Let me brag about this cinnamon roll! It has some very tasty cream cheese-like topping and a very fresh/soft body. It's probably the best I've tasted in Cleveland. I literally closed my eyes and glowed for a minute. On a separate note, I tried their matcha at an event and it was the best execution of matcha, very smooth and pleasant. Prices are a little on the higher end but honestly, the quality made it feel worth it. Overall, it's a place I'd absolutely come back to especially when I'll shop at Pinecrest. Those cinnamon rolls will quickly become my new addition. Seriously, try them and bring some for your colleagues. No hard feelings if you devour them on your way to work!

Visited this quaint coffee shop while I was visiting Cleveland. It is peaceful, calm & clean. The staff were friendly, the drinks & bakery items were delicious. Would love to spend more time here. I did purchase their cute stickers + pins. Highly recommend for a calm start to your morning or just an afternoon pick-me-up! :)

This was my first time at a Heartwood Cafe and I absolutely loved it. They offer a large menu with lots of options, from basic coffee drinks (hot and iced) to fun speciality and seasonal drinks. There is also lots of bakery options from croissants to cookies and scones. I did not know what I wanted and the staff was very helpful and I ended up going with the Iced cappuccino and added cinnamon powder after talking with the barista. it was delicious. the perfect ratio of milk to espresso for me, and a lot of places do not offer that so it was great. I tried my friend's iced chocolate latte which is made with chocolate milk and it was a bit sweet for me but the flavor was fabulous and I can tell why a lot of people love it. this location is nestled into pinecrest shopping and perfect for a grab and go or meet a friend. the staff is so friendly and there's a ton of seating inside and outside. The atmosphere is really great and very open which I personally love. definitely a must go if you are into coffee shops!

Love the addition of Heartwood to the coffee shops on the east side of Cleveland! I especially love the ample seating and floor to ceiling windows providing plenty of natural lighting. A great spot to get work done or catchup with friends during the day. They also have a decent espresso menu and various seasonal specials. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable on their offerings. Would definitely come back! Note that it can be a bit chilly so dress appropriately!

I came here two days in a row because my first trip was so great. I got a Matcha latte on my first visit. Service was quick. The coffee shop was adorable. The second visit I again got a matcha latte but also got a delicious blueberry scone. Heartwood is clean and so cute inside. A great coffee shop!

    Inside ambiance

The coffee shop was charming. While the coffee was decent, the avocado sandwich was only okay. The bread was very sour, overpowering the avocado flavor, and there was a minimal amount of avocado compared to California avocado toasts. The coffee shop had both indoor and outdoor seating, and the entire place appeared clean and tidy. The service was typical for a coffee shop.

This is a popular spot in the Pinecrest shopping area for coffee and tea. Service was quick despite the long line. There is plenty of seating - indoor and outdoors, which was great on a sunny day.

Finally! Cleveland's East Side has a premier coffee shop to call its own. Heartwood's Pinecrest location is firing on all cylinders with incredible coffee and food in a spacious environment. In terms of coffee, Heartwood's crafted coffee drinks are always delicately balanced (they don't go overboard with syrups or milk) and the quality of their brewed coffee (hot or cold) is top-notch as well. The real star is their food, however. Their baked goods are better than you will get at any comparable coffee shop in all of Cleveland. The avocado toast (a personal favorite) is served on a slice of warm bread, and the avocado mash is always fresh. The east side of Cleveland has struggled to maintain a coffee culture on par with Ohio City or Lakewood, and Heartwood is a significant step in the right direction! Highly recommend

Decided to check out this much needed coffee spot in pinecrest, and was under whelmed. This ambiance fits in with all the other shops around. The shop was very clean! The coffee and food is all moderately priced for its offerings. I got an americano and it was probably the most disappointing one I've ever had. Since it's only one thing out of the several different drinks to choose from, I hope another experience would redeem this.

Get a free 12 oz of coffee here with any coffee beans purchase!…read more Rising Star Roasters is my destination for a strong cup of coffee. It's by far my favorite local coffee shop chain. I frequent this location inside Van Aken Market Hall. This coffee stand is located right as you walk into the main doors of the market hall. You'll need to go to the counter, order your food and/or drinks, and wait for the order to be called (typical coffee shop experience). Wait can be a little long during peak hours but it's worth it! You can then select various seating options inside the market or outside. Various options are available inside - comfy leather-like couches, leather-like booths, individual or group tables, and high tops. Outside you'll find tables immediately outside of the Van Aken Market Hall or seasonally on the lawn. If you stop by during the right times, you'll find the district bustling with music and seasonal events. It's also always a good idea to pick up a cup of coffee then go cowork at AO or browse the local shops. The menu at this and other locations is concise and simple. You can get brewed coffee, tea, espresso, lattes, and seasonal drinks. The menu is straightforward and not confusing. My morning go-to's are usually perfectly strong iced coffees. I also always pick up something from the specials menu. All specialty drinks are very well made and consistently prepared. I have never had any drinks here that disappointed me. Small batch snacks are available at this location such as croissants and tea biscuits. I sometimes purchase a snack here or patronize other vendors at the market. All coffee beans at Rising Star are top notch. I recently learned that they have a dedicated coffee buyer who travels to coffee farms and brings coffee back to Cleveland. They're also incredibly serious about their roasting process and have a local roastery. How amazing is that especially for a local coffee shop?! You can pick up beans at their location that are named after regions of where the coffee farms are located. Each coffee bean bag has taste notes listed on the bag, choose your adventure! Coffee bean bag prices vary from $16-19. They'll roast them for you and tailor to your coffee preparation method (i.e. coffee press). If you purchase coffee beans in store, you can get free 12 oz drip coffee! You can also order them online and they'll be roasted within 48 hours of shipping. I love to explore their coffees, get something new every time. I highly recommend this location for your coffee cravings! While you're here, look out for notNeutral coffee mug - sleek, 12 oz, and must have. In the words of Rising Star, "a laser-etched Rising Star emblem adds a subtle, sophisticated touch to the side of each piece."

The toast did have enough crab meat but was skimpy everywhere else and was zero % spicy! There were 2 skinny pieces of jalapenos but no extra drizzle of red chili oil or sriracha or anything. The melted cheese was good, but 1/2 slice of tomato, 1 thin piece of lettuce and like 4 strands of microgreens should not have been this pricey. It's fine for a light lunch but at this price I could've gotten a big bowl of authentic ramen with a bunch more ingredients! The latte was good but I wish there wasn't as much ice.
