I could've hated the class and not been able to do anything and I still would've enjoyed my time and came back for the second week in a row because she is just such an amazing teacher. She was so nice and encouraging and made me feel seen throughout the whole class. She emphasizes on a no judgement zone and really pushes you to try new things. She even made me take a picture my first class. I am so happy I stumbled upon this class and her. I've been telling all my friends about it and I will continue to go as long as I am able!

I have done yoga classes in the past and I was expecting to do the same this last trip but was surprised with Mia. It's a constant movement type of yoga (I guess is how it can be explained) and it was a blast. The instructors were very charming and wanted nothing more than to make sure your experience was superb. The group I was with brought up heated yoga and they are immediately incorporated this practice into their schedule this next weekend. Just an excellent experience and they have a wonderful practice.

They have one yoga room and one exercise room in addition to the little sitting area/front desk. Classes are generally $10 per class and no pre-registration is required, except for the pre-natal yoga, which is wonderful. Really disappointed. I was looking forward to class this evening. Went to the website earlier. Paid the drop in fee. Rearranged my entire schedule in order to attend. Left my hotel in plenty of time and arrived at the address shown here (694 E Vandalia) 15 minutes early. Only problem? There is not a yoga studio at that address. I searched maps for another studio and found this (actually at 208 W Main)...according to the GPS, 18 minutes from where I was. So I drove over half an hour to get to yoga, but was then 5 minutes late. The kicker? This is only 10 minutes from my hotel! I tried to call the studio 3 different times while driving - I mean I didn't know if this was the one actually signed up for or not - all went directly to voicemail. I did walk in. Told the woman at the front desk about the address being wrong. She asked if I'd typed in the right one. Then I showed her Yelp and she replied, "that's a very old address". How would I-how would anyone-know that? I'm visiting from out of state so have nothing but Yelp to rely on for local establishments and addresses. I'm working the rest of the week and won't have another opportunity. She asked if I still wanted to join the class. I declined - walking into class 5 minutes late really didn't appeal to me. She did say my fee will be refunded and I appreciate that, but... Please keep your information current so that people who want to partake in your services, actually can or have time to find another local place to go.

It started out a little slow, which was alright because it was a Sunday and I'm used to 'gentle yoga' on Sundays, but then she really kicked it up and everyone broke a sweat without realizing it. It was a really good workout! The studio is wonderful: very wide open spaces, they had all the bolsters and blocks and mats available to use (plus mat cleaner, which was very much appreciated), so it was perfect to drop in as unprepared as we were. I know I'll be in Columbia again and I'll make it to another session for sure. This is just a really great studio!

This studio…read moregives you that warm fuzzy 'local community' vibe (they even sell local artist goods in the lobby if you're interested in a 'one of a kind' statement necklace)! The classes are offered in a beautiful brick building (wood floors, big windows) on what I would consider the 'Main Street' of Lafayette Square. Plenty of parking in front of the studio or nearby. You have to travel through a small alley to get to the door (which is quite romantic... you can smell incense burning as you approach the studio's entrance). All of the instructors are friendly, helpful, and set a good pace for class. A couple of my friends enjoyed their experience with the studio so much they decided to complete the 'teacher training'! It's been fun to attend classes they host now to see how much their practice has developed!

This week I went to a hot yoga class with my husband and his niece (she's a regular here) and although I've done regular yoga, glow yoga, aerial yoga, and yoga on the rocks, I had never done hot yoga so I was game. And I also hadn't done any form of yoga in quite a few months so I was a little weary since it wasn't clear what the ideal experience level was. We signed up online which makes the process quicker since you don't have to fill out any paperwork when you arrive. As soon as we got there we jumped in line, paid for our class ($7 cash/$10 card), kicked our shoes off, and found a space. The class filled up quickly so I'm willing to bet, late arrivals won't get in... which isn't a bad thing. I absolutely loved the studio we were in. The windows look out to Park Ave, but they do have a screen that blocks the sun from beaming down on you (I mean you're already going to be hot enough... you don't need the extra help). I like the whole design of ST Yoga in general. They updated just enough to make it comfortable like the nice finished bathrooms and changing areas, but they left a lot of the original features in tact like the wood floors and the large pane windows. What I love the most is that you enter ST Yoga through the back which takes you through this cute bricked alleyway... it truly feels like a secret that you're being let in on. So hot yoga. It was fast paced and hot. It was clear that it was going to be hot-hot and not just luke warm as soon as we walked in. I didn't mind it, but you'd be crazy if you didn't bring a water bottle (or two) with you. There is no pressure to push your body past it's limits, but more so to listen to your body and know when you can challenge yourself. And any reservations I had about going to a class that could potentially be an advanced class were washed away when I realized any advanced moves instructions were accompanied by instructions for modifications. 100% recommend! This was a fantastic workout that was both challenging and meditative. All of the staff was helpful and welcoming. Oh and they start off their Om's with this little accordion type instrument (different than any studio I've been to, but everyone was on the same key so it sounded beautiful). ST Yoga is a great place for any level yogi and they offer a range of different classes along with some pop up events so you can really find your niche at this studio.

Another is yoga, which is led by Janet (the owner). Janet is a wonderful teacher, always pushing one to exceed their own expectations. The third offering is wisdom qigong, a Chinese medicine practice that heals. It is also an excellent meditation. This is offered by Joan and she is also an amazing teacher. There is a lot of literature to read while there and you will likely always be offered tea. It is a wonderful welcoming touch. The biggest draw is how welcoming they are - I have a bigger and older body and they never made me feel lesser. If you are looking for yoga or qigong, you might want to check them out!
