My guy and I had a rough time at Heathrow Airport, as in I hope to never fly in there again. Our flight was cancelled and I do not sleep on floors at my age. All hotels nearby were booked solid that night. I found this lodge for 66 euros. It worked in a pinch. A clean bed, bathroom ( no towels for a shower), but all we needed was sleep. The owner, Naman was awesome and very helpful. I met some nice people too. It's close to the airport, took a taxi for minimal fee. Naman picked us up and took us back to the airport in the morning. Probably should've paid about 30 euros, but in a pinch it worked just fine. This is not a glamorous bnb , but it was clean and again the owner was so kind and helpful. If I was in a pinch like that again with no hotel options, I'd for sure chill there for a night. read more

Guess what? I got stranded yet again at Heathrow last week!!! Instead of 5 days, it was just 2 days this time but I desperately needed a place to stay just 2 hours before Heathrow closes and I didn't want to spend any more £ £ £. Originally I was planning to just stay overnight at the airport when I missed my connection flight but it turned out that Heathrow doesn't stay open overnight. They kick everyone out after 10pm unless you have a flight to catch, and it reopens at 6am, FYI. People who travel to London a lot are probably already aware how expensive an average hotel can cost in London. It's easy to spend $200-$300/night for a mediocre 2 star quality hotel but I didn't want to spend any more unplanned expenses especially after I blew my budget big time in Scandinavia prior to coming to London. I thought I could crash at my English friend's flat, but unfortunately she already had too many people in her flat and her roommate didn't want any more guest. Since Heathrow doesn't offer any free wifi and I couldn't use my business lounge privilege this time because I flew with a different airline company, I purchased Boingo Wifi (£4/month, which is not bad!!) and did a quick search for a dirt cheap hotel near Heathrow with free shuttle from the airport. I thought about staying at the nearby capsule hotel called Yotel but it turns out that it charges £8-12/hr and if I had stayed from 10pm-6am, it would cost me £64-96($100-$150) which I think is so overpriced for a mere capsule hotel!!! After browsing my iPhone safari desperately, I came across this super cheap hotel "Heathrow Lodge" on booking.com which only charged £25/night for a single private bedroom with a shared bathroom and free airport shuttle. I immediately booked it. Considering how cheap it was, my expectations were quite low and it was pretty much what I expected. Very simple nothing fancy and a bit depressing, it was basically a slightly upgraded version of youth hostel. As soon as I booked the hotel, I called the "hotel" via Skype and requested for the shuttle. The driver came 15 min later and took me and a few other travelers back to the hotel. Considering how taxi and subways are so expensive in London, I thought the free shuttle service alone was worth my extra star. Since the hotel is located only 10 min away from the airport, the noise pollution was horrible until 11pm. Only until I stayed at this humble "hotel", I came to appreciate the British government's strict enforcement of no flight after 11:30pm. Otherwise I'd be up all nigh with that crazy airplane noise blasting every 10 min. There is nothing around the hotel, and the TV didn't work so I suggest you bring something to read if you plan to spend a night here. And if you want to use wifi, you have to pay £5, which is probably how they try to make some extra money. I know that everybody else only gave 1 star rating but if they only knew the average standard hotel price in London, I think they would be slightly more generous with their reviews. When I got stranded in London during the snowstorm for 5 days, I had to pay whopping $315/night at dilapidated Marriott Marble Arch which wasn't that posh at all. This is why I'm telling you this hotel price is a steal!! That said, I must warn you that this place should be considered as your last resort...... if you get stranded in London ask your friends in London first for free accommodation, and if that doesn't work, this will be your most inexpensive alternative. Think youth hostel, but you get your own room and free shuttle to the airport. If you are like me who don't care where you sleep when you are desperate, this is your best bet. read more

well,here is very close from airport. It tooks 423bus 5min and bus stop from 2~3min on foot. When I checked in,few person was waiting so,It took 10min. I got key,i can't entered room quickly.It work after 20times throw! I am O.K. here is very UNEXPENSIVE! I move a long flight,so I want took a shower quickly. I arrived reception .but he gone. I asked Chinese. Where is shower room?he did not understood. I did gesture like this and my sound. He Laugh my gesture.He taught me shower room very friendly. I thought make a friend, like this hotel better than Expensive hotel. As ever shower room was smelly and toilet. Late at night so,pretty lie scattered around.I'm O.k.here is cheep. I was back my room so,grew light.When it was pretty dark turn on just minutes. this room is comfotable early morning. I was able to hear few kind of birdsong. and I was able to access wifi quickly. This is the worst hotel ever and I am used to staying in total dumps. I've literally had better sleep when I was homeless. The mattresses are comparable to the ones you see on the side of the road. Basically one giant spring burrowing in your spine all night. I think I'd prefer a bed of nails to that pitiful excuse for a mattress. There's also a shared bathroom and NO WIFI in the rooms, only in the lobby and they charge you for it. This room would only be acceptable if it were like £20 per night and even then I'd feel ripped off. If you're desperate may I recommend getting a cardboard box and utilizing it and avoid this place. read more

We stayed here one night as we had an early flight. The website claimed parking was free, but we were charged 5GBP. We ordered breakfast for early morning, but it didn't turn up, and the front desk claimed not to know when we wanted it. Other than that it was an OK hotel, quite basic. read more

Basic long layover hotel, i.e. arrive at night/connecting flight in the morning. Super basic but clean. Very close to Terminal 5 (probably walking distance and free bus is 5 minutes). You can get to/from other terminals for free with Heathrow Express. read more

One word: bedbugs. I woke up with bites all over my arms and shoulders. Now normally at a budget hotel I wouldn't complain about things like: the loose board in the bathroom which had been badly covered over with laminate, the bare cable wire shoved into the back of the TV, etc. But these other examples show a general lack of care in maintenance that makes me very skeptical that they will adequately deal with the bedbug problem. Every object in every room in the affected building has to be properly treated to get rid of them. It takes a lot of time, and a lot of money to do that. Any hotel, even the swankiest, can get bedbugs and it wouldn't make me write a bad review, because a good hotel will treat the problem. Every sign says that ain't gonna happen here, so future travelers beware. read more

Once I got into Heathrow airport I phoned the lodge for the courtesy shuttle. Rather than tell me where to meet they made me hang up and call back from a different area of the airport. That cost me an extra pound to do since I had to use a pay phone. They said 10 minutes to pickup and it took 40 before they arrived. The driver and lodge staff were all friendly, but it couldn't compensate for the awful rooms. Our room was very cramped and had what I assume were luggage markings all over the wall, since there's no space to move around the bed. I HAD to stand sideways in order to fit in the shower and I'm only 6 feet 180 lbs. And standing sideways was preferential so I also didn't touch the shower curtain which was half covered in some sort of orange grime. Also being close to the airport meant planes were taking off during the night. I was so warm in the room (no AC in most hotels there) that I slept with no covers and the next day was covered in some sort of bug bites on each extremity. This lodge was a complete rip off for the price I paid and would be hard-pressed to stay there even for free. Unless you have NO other choice do not stay at Heathrow Lodge. read more

Literally minutes from the airport, and even though it's true the courtesy shuttle only runs 6-10am and 6-10pm, I took the 423 free bus from terminal 5 with no problem. Very friendly and nice woman at the front desk, offered to help me with my bag up the stairs. Yes, no elevator, which was annoying but only for the 2 minutes it took me to lug my suitcase up. I stayed in a 4 bed room in early January with two other friends, and the cost came out to £17 per person. Room was clean and neat and warm with a big window, radiator, private bathroom, and television. Only downside of the room was the shower, it was TINY and has quite a bit of mildew in it. Didn't stop me from showering after my 10 hour flight though, and the water was warm and clean and had adjustable pressure. Really cute suburban neighborhood, we walked just down the road to the pub White Horse which was really cozy and had such character! Quiet night, with just the occasional airplane overhead (very occasional, haven't heard one in hours actually). Stayed here from approximately 4pm on a Thursday, to 7am the next day (had to be up early which worked out well with the free shuttle in the end). read more

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. My room is just big enough to fit my bed, and with my suitcase wedged behind the door and my guitar up against the sink, all I can do is lay in bed. About once a minute, you can hear a plane take off right outside your window. Even soundproof headphones and loud music are barely enough to drown it out. The only thing in my hallway along with my room is a STAFF ONLY toilet. On my way to my room I noticed that my socks got a bit wet. So I guess the floor here is just a little wet? I have to walk upstairs to use a communal shower and the "wifi lounge" is literally a room with some chairs in a circle. I can feel the springs in the mattress under my back and yes they left me instant coffee and a kettle, but with little milk containers that say "tastes just like fresh milk!" So I guess it isn't milk, I don't know, there's no ingredient list on it. Safe to say the coffee tasted like absolute feces. There's an old Irish bar across the street but thats about it unless you want to take a bus somewhere, which by the way, I had to take 3 to get here. Thank god theres at least a shuttle service to the airport in the morning. I actually can't wait to travel tomorrow. This hotel SUCKSSSSSSSS don't do it. read more

I booked this place then cancelled after five minutes, when I changed my mind to go with Ibis. I got a cancellation email stating that I needed not do anything else. But to my surprise, my credit card was charged. When I called them to complain, sorry was the answer I got!I will Never book with them or recommend. read more

Very dirty and very noisy there is no double glazing. The night manager forgot to tell the day manager we needed a call at 5am so when we awoke we had missed the shuttle and had to get a cab to the airport. The hairdryer didnt work, the bedside lamp didnt work as it wasnt there!The bathroom was the smallest room I have seen that wasnt a callbox. Please note, this Hotel is near Heathrow Airport but Qype messed up its placement and cant move it! read more
