My wife and I were first introduced to this place back in late February 2022. At first when you drive up your first thoughts are retail strip center, eyebrows raise up. We went inside and to our surprise very authentic and above expectations. The food is fantastic and the service is always great. We've been going here for over 20 years, at least 2-3 times a month. I could not believe the negative reviews I read on here, which is what prompted me to write. There has never been one single time, whether we had take out or ate in the restaurant, when the food wasn't excellent. We came from California where there are dozens of great Chinese restaurants, and until we found Heavens Dragon thought we'd have to wait until we visited CA to eat decent Chinese food again. Not even sure how to rate this. I went to heaven dragon three days in a row. First two times where really good. Some of the best Chinese in Denver. Last Saturday I went and ordered broccoli beef and fried rice. It was the worst beef and broccoli I've ever had. Flavor was delicious, everything was hot and portions were plentiful. We also got the dumplings but would not order those again. They were a bit bland. Service for takeout was fantastic. They were busy with people picking up orders, placing orders on the phone etc but they still had time to work with me to pay for my order since I left my wallet at home (oops) and my first card number I gave was getting declined for some reason. I've been coming here for over a year always got the side of a main for slight up charge as the side instead of rice and I called tonight to make an order and the woman on the song I've never seen nor talk to before always deal with a very nice gentleman answered, and I placed my order and when I asked for the chargeable side, she told me that was not available. I could pay $10 for just noodles in the right mind. Would pay $10 for just noodles so when I came in to pick up my order, I asked when they stop doing that, and she was extremely rude and disrespectful, and just practically ignored that I was even there I felt like just leaving the food and not taking my order letting them eat that loss. but I am not a hateful person as she was. They're not winning any awards tonight. I tried to call ahead to place a takeout order. When they did answer the phone I couldn't hear anything at all. So I went to the restaurant to place my order. Two other customers were waiting, though they had already ordered. After several minutes, two employees appeared. One answered the phone immediately. Neither of them acknowledged my existence. The one answered several calls but couldn't seem to hear anyone. I tried to point out that they might have a phone problem, but there were no signs that I actually conveyed that point. Still, they didn't ask if I were there to place an order, pick up, or or if I wanted to be seated. The other employee was collecting receipts and, had I not flagged her down, I'd probably still be waiting to order. As I waited, another customer, seemingly a Door Dasher, inquired about her order and was told it would be another 20 minutes. Since that's how long all of their orders take, I can only assume the restaurant dropped the ball. The employee who had been answering phones asked if any of us, four by then, were waiting on an order. Two hadn't even placed an order yet. When I spoke up, he dug through a bag to confirm it was mine and sent me on my way. I'm not sure what I'm eating, but it's not the orange chicken I ordered. It's good, but it's not what I ordered. I think their phones are broken and I don't have the patience to go back. Before I left the restaurant, I asked for utensils, napkins, and soy sauce and was given one of each. They didn't include a fortune cookie. Such a small thing, but I like those little pockets of fun. The food is good, even when not what I ordered. This must be the worst Chinese restaurant in America. Let's start with employees. I always expect crappy service at most Chinese Restaurants, usually give them a pass because it's typical. We were a party of four sitting at a table where the waitress could walk around and get people their drinks and their food, but she chose to reach over each person I was with and hand a hot plate of food to me which could have burned the person I was with and me because the plate was hot. She slammed the water glasses and cups on our table. She lacked manners and had no consideration for any one at our table. She had plenty of room to walk around our table and chose not to. 3. It becomes concerning when customers see buckets and rags and tools on bars as storage and for me it becomes concerning when the chairs are greasy to to the touch and that is why my concern for the food that is being served. My concern is the kitchen. I begin to wonder how clean is their kitchen and if it's even safe to eat. 4. Decor..lovely. The place was clean and had easy parking. We got seated very quickly. The food was actually really good! We ate several of the chicken dishes, seafood and soup dishes. I didn't think there was too much salt at all. It was actually all well seasoned and delicious. We wanted it served family style but couldn't figure out how to order it that way. We verbalized it to three different staff members but could never make it happen. Communication is for sure a MAJOR issue. It was virtually impossible to get questions asked and answered. If you want quick American-Chinese food, this is the place to go. The price is affordable for family outings. However, if you want a quick ticket to hypertension, feel free to continue your visits here. I always order everything with no salt, which is still pretty salty from their sauce, so it evens out. The service is about the same as any traditional Asian restaurants, which is mediocre. The owner Dan is really friendly. Most of all, if you're not a right wing politician, you would still find this place enjoyable, just experiment with the different dishes on the menu, because it goes from Thai to Vietnamese. 12/31/20 We walked out of the Arvada restaurant today. After waiting about 10 minutes at the front desk without anybody helping customers, we finally sat ourselves. A waitress came by our table and placed a number card down and no one else returned to give us to say water, or take our order. The staff stayed ambling in the back past the bar and there were only 6 other customers inside, After 15 minutes we walked out. The food here used to be a little better than so-so but THE SERVICE IS CRAPPY! The interior is very worn nowadays and the carpet is sticky; I'm just guessing but the kitchen is probably in the same condition.. The place needs help. I have been eating here occasionally for the last 20 years or so. We went to the "Tea Garden" restaurant down the street - What an improvement. Meh. I've experienced better. Pretty much says it all. This place has a cult like following in north Denver. I've tried it several times with the above sentiments each time. My most recent visit I was greeted by a waitress that I could not understand to save my life. I know I'm in a Chinese restaurant but I don't speak the language so I'm not sure if that's my fault or theirs. I managed to order a volcano, a two person drink that arrives at the table on fire. I'm convinced that the only alcohol in the drink was set ablaze because it was weak and tasted really bad. Our group ordered a variety of dishes including their famed duck. When everything arrived we served it family style so that everyone got a little of everything. The duck was pretty bad, seemed like it was cooks a long time ago then reheated in the microwave. Everything else was drowned in some kind of syrupy sauce. When it came time to pay the bill I handed over my card, when the ticket came back for me to sign I realized I had been over charged by over $15. The waitress was nowhere to be found. Welcome to Brighton Heaven Dragon! You were our favorite Chinese restaurant in Thornton and now you can be our new favorite in Green Acres, err B-right-on. We love the nirvana wyrm so much we had them cater our wedding. I don't recall hearing any complaints from our wedding guests (at least not about the food). My three favorite dishes at the serpent of Shangri-la are the special pan fried noodles, sesame chicken and Sriracha beef. They don't do delivery but based on how busy they were tonight on a Thursday night I don't think they care about missing out on the delivery business. Highly recommended. This place is the closest place I have found to east coast Chinese food, with the exception of no duck sauce, which again, no one seems to know about here unless they're another fellow east coaster lol. Perhaps I'm just that predictable (despite this being my first time in this particular establishment). Food wasn't great, sad to say. I wanted to love it. General chicken had a burnt taste to it, the chicken quality was rather poor. Fried dumplings were OK, but not enough to make me want to come back. Nice atmosphere, for a chinese-food joint. She argued with us about our orders - continually trying to pressure us into getting a family dinner when we wanted separate lunch plates. Before even ordering our meal, we ordered an appetizer and she brought out the appetizer with our food. My orange chicken was cold; like cold enough for the glaze to be super thick. The fried rice is white rice smothered in soy sauce - no eggs, no veggies. Food floating in one of our beverages. Silverware was dirty and when we asked for another set the waitress said we had enough at the table - so we ended up taking one from another table after she left. Table was sticky. Floor was dirty.
