This is the second location of Hechalou I've visited. It has the same aesthetics but it's quite different in terms of menu and drink construction from the location north of Seattle that I visited regularly. There are two kiosks for easy ordering. We walked in just a couple of minutes after they opened on a Monday and were the first customers inside. House Blend Pearl Milk Tea, 10% Sweet, 30% Ice w/ Boba ($6.25) - I'll start by saying that 10% is not nearly enough for this drink, totally unlike the Lynnwood location where anything over 10% sweet is cloyingly sweet for me. I ended up asking for a small cup of syrup on the side and titrated the drink until I thought it was sweet enough. My guess is that it took until around 50% sweet. With that out of the way, the flavor is identical to what I've had before. Rich malty taste with plenty of body. It's a very solid milk tea. This hechalou only has sugar syrup soaked boba, not a choice of honey or brown sugar boba as in Lynnwood. My guess is this is one of the reasons why the sweetness level is so different. Probably honey and/or brown sugar soak adds more sweetness to the drink than whatever soak they use here. The boba is a little firmer than Lynnwood and isn't as flavorful. Still miles ahead of most boba shops in the US though. Milk Tea Rating: 4.5/5 Boba Rating: 4.5/5 Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea, 10% Sweet, 30% Ice w/ Boba ($7.05) - Again, this one isn't sweet enough and I had to add more sugar. The drink itself is strongly flowery, again very consistent with the other location. It's a very solid drink. Milk Tea Rating: 4.5/5 This location of Hechalou still serves some top tier drinks. The matcha waffles come in a set of three and are on the smaller side since they're shaped like the cafe's logo. The matcha flavor is very earthy and leans more bitter than sweet, which I personally enjoyed. However, if you're not a fan of strong earthy matcha flavors, you may want to try a different waffle option instead. The tea was really good as well. I ordered mine with regular boba, but I've heard their jelly is actually the highlight, so I'll definitely have to try that next time. I've always been a pudding girlie but the black sesame jelly here is simply OUTSTANDING. It's so good that I have yet to stray despite my desire to try the almond, matcha, and thai tea jellies. I just love the ambiance even though I'm usually in and out with my order. The interior is just SO cute, I'm a sucker for that particular shade of green. I appreciate that you can order ahead online. A cute place to get tea and meet up with friends. I really enjoyed the tea here. I got the house blend milk tea with sesame and almond jelly with 50% sweet. I would say the next time I will probably get 10% to 30% sweetness as I think the jelly added quite a bit of sweetness to the drink. I also found it nice that the almond jelly added a little hint of almond flavor to the tea itself which I enjoyed. My friend got osmanthus oolong tea with 70% sweet. We both agreed that the sugar could be reduced a bit but it was still tasty and not overly sweet. The tea itself has a good flavor and compliments the jelly well. I went to introduce auntie and uncles to this lovely place! It wasn't busy and we ordered in with the workers. They were very kind and patient with our orders. We ordered their house tea with 30% sweet and regular ice. I personally thought 30% was still a tad bit to sweet for me but it was still good and delicious. I also ordered the crane egg puffs and though the flavors were amazing, the sides were on the drier side and hard. We also ordered their jellies on separate containers and their jelly, black sesame, and matcha jellies were by far the best and most delicious I've ever had. This is coming from someone who usually doesn't like the toppings but the flavors were on point and not too sweet! They also have claw machines. I've come back several times since their grand opening and sincerely enjoy their drinks! I always get the house blend milk tea with thai jelly and love how the flavors blend together. The thai tea flavor in the jelly stands out the most and is my favorite. Their egg puffs are also great to eat when fresh & warm. The staff are very kind and friendly whenever I go in. This place caught my eye because of their jelly toppings I had seen them all over social media, so I decided to check it out for myself. I came around 6pm on a Wednesday and it wasn't too busy. The inside is spacious, and I really liked that you can order on a tablet. Since it was my first time there, it gave me the chance to take my time and look through all the drink options without feeling rushed. This is such a great tea shop! I was so impressed by the selection, but also totally in love with the housemade jellies. I had the House Blend Tea with the yin/yang jellies (sesame and almond flavors) @ 10% sweet and 70% ice. Strong tea taste, sweet but not overwhelming, and the signature soft textured jellies makes the drink so special! I am obsessed! Service was wonderful. I was greeted with a warm hello. Ummm, from my experience, I don't see how the shop has only a four star rating... my thought is Hechalou Tea House is phenomenal. For me, Boba has never been about the Boba. I always stick to aloe as my only added ingredient to my Matcha orders; however, while trying to meet a $12 minimum order on DoorDash I added three toppings/Boba/whatever to my Matcha. Boy was I surprised... I love all of them, and it made the best Boba I've ever had by far. What did I add to my Matcha? Matcha jelly, honey boba/pearls and my usual-Aloe. I like my Boba 0% sweet and the honey pearls were a nice addition, with the just right amount of chew to them. The Matcha jelly was perfection - light melt in your mouth deliciousness. We went during the soft opening to see what the hype was about. Lucky we did not have to wait long because we went on a weekday. We also came back a couple times after their grand opening as well. I think the drinks are ok, the jelly toppings are pretty good. I personally liked the sesame jelly topping. I think i had higher expectation on the drinks but nothing really stands out. The drinks are still ok overall. They don't have much fruit tea options so if you are a fruit tea person there are only a couple options to choose. The inside decoration is really nice though and the staff were all nice. We tried the egg puff too and that was not bad. This bubble tea shop has quickly become my favorite in the area! I haven't had one drink here that I didn't like and I've tried quite a few. They specialize in high quality tea from Taiwan and tea jelly toppings. As much as I love boba, I prefer grass jelly or tea jelly as a topping because it's lighter compared to boba. Their menu is unique in that for each item, they list a recommended sweetness and ice level. I appreciate the recommendations because that means they know what levels give each drink the optimal taste. I especially love their House Blend Milk Teas with jelly toppings and their Lime Magnolia Green Tea with Aloe. I don't quite understand the low ratings but it must have been from their soft opening days. They have since figured out the flow to get drinks out quickly and their hours are typical of a bubble tea shop. One gripe I have for this place is that they don't have A/C or it's very weak. This is another good Taiwanese company, like Chicha San Chen, with better drinks than a regular sugary boba spot. I heard everyone recommending to get the bubble waffles, so we decided to try that next time and go with the original hcl egg puff. My daughter loved it. She wanted their coconut slushie with sesame jelly, but they didn't have it. We were disappointed, but we hope they have it next time we drop by. We ordered the matcha latte with matcha jelly (substituted for soy). We also had their house blend milk tea with sesame jelly. We enjoyed their drinks. I absolutely loved my matcha latte with their default sweetness! Their default sweetness level made it slightly sweet and not too sugary. It was a perfect balance of bitter and sweet. They have the strangest business hours I've ever seen for a boba shop. Is it because they can't handle a full shift yet? Do some ingredients only last five hours? Or are they trying to build hype by limiting supply? No idea. I came right after they opened at 1 PM. There was a line but it moved quickly. They have a kiosk too. The menu is posted all around so you can figure out what to order while waiting. I stayed to eat, and after the first hour, the line was completely gone. Prices are reasonable. Most drinks come with recommended lower sugar and ice levels, which I appreciate. I'd rather taste the tea than sugar. That said, I expected the drinks to look like the ones on their menu and social media, with jellies layered on top and no seal. But every drink came sealed, with the jellies sunk to the bottom like boba. A little disappointing, visually. I wonder if they can make it like the pictures upon request. The drink itself tasted great, but the jellies were hard to get through the straw. I ended up opening the seal and using the straw like a spoon to scoop them out once I finished the drink. This has become one of my go-to spots in the area, and I'll be back to try more. There is one restroom, but I wish it had a vacant/occupied indicator. Why is jelly not more if a thing. I would definitely get that over boba any day. I got the milk tea with almond jelly. I love almond jelly. It just was so awesome. I want more. Was intrigued to try this boba spot since I heard it's also from Taiwan. We were first in line the second weekend of the soft opening but there was soon a line that built behind us. I've never had jellies like this so it was an interesting experience, instead of chewy texture I'm used to from a lot of boba places around it was softer and melted in your mouth. The sesame jellies were my personal preference. It's a stronger tea taste. I'm curious to try the slushies and other drink options during the rest of summer. Service was friendly, they have both cashier and self order touch screen options available, and I appreciated their live board that shows which order numbers are being prepared/ready. HeChaLou is one of the more renowned tea brand in Taiwan, quickly expanding since it was first established. I'm glad that HeChaLou has finally opened up in Beaverton, Oregon! The establishment was well lit, interior was adorned, and had ample seating while waiting for your order. It was quite busy on the weekend but the line to order went by quickly. There was also a self-ordering kiosk to assist with the flow. After ordering, you receive an order number and wait until your number is called or you can see the monitor screen that tells which order numbers are ready and which are currently in the process. I thought the drink had a strong, prominent tea flavor instead of a more creamy/milky taste. I appreciated the unique jelly flavors but I felt like it was difficult to incorporate a balance of tea/jelly ratio while sucking the straw so a lot of the jellies were left near the end to inhale up. The consistency of the jellies were good but the black sesame one left some grittiness. The tea jelly didn't seem as flavorful as the other jellies but not sure it's that was due to the drink having that pronounced tea flavor already. I like how there's plenty of seating and space to hang out. OVERALL Heichalou does TEAS and JELLIES well. Get a milk tea with a jelly topping of your choice. The milk teas here are too notch. I avoided this place when they first opened. By the time my wife and I had our first visit, things had calmed down dramatically. Tables are marbled just as seen in photos- don't hesitate they deserve more recognition and I've never seen another place have a matcha drink with matcha jelly it is amazing and best compliment for Asian drink/desert "not too sweet" you can taste the natural flavors without additional flavorings and I personally love thick, real, gritty matcha so what I ordered it fit very well to my taste buds but I bet if you ask for specific things they would be able to accommodate to. Set up is nice they have a tablet you can order from as well. Crochet designs are legit and cute. Decoration is filled in very nice. Minimalistic, authentic, culturistic, adorable. Has mostly luxury green and white color scheme. It's a place you can hang out with friends or significant other. If you're planning on taking a walk around Murray-hill park stop by this place as-well it's worth it. Bubble tea was invented by Taiwan and this place portrays the roots of it on the lowkey. I used to go to ShareTea in Beaverton a lot few years back but I have more complaints about ShareTea. Hechalou upscales them by a non-bragging amount. Hidden gem which I like. People should appreciate bubble tea from its culture and where it's invented. Not those people who try fake bubble tea and hate it just because some place makes it all sugary and unaligned with the natural creation. My partner got a slushy mango coconut drink- that tasted like natural mango and sweetness level natural and texture is fun. I understand why the medium might look like a small but honestly 6-7 dollars for medium to large is way better than places that charge for 7-8 dollars for a bubble tea that's not even real. My daughter and I wanted to try Hechalou so off we went. No line and only 2 guests in the place. We placed our order - the brown sugar matcha and house blend milk tea with sesame and almond jelly. We got it regular, with oat milk. You're able to customize the sweetness and ice to your liking. We loved both and we were served in just a few minutes. The aesthetic is cool, modern, spacious with the pop of green and fun ceiling sign at the counter. Service was fast and friendly. They have a lot of unique combinations so I'll have to go back and try more. I'll also probably cut the sugar to 25% as they are a little sweet. read more

If you want strong tea this place is it! I am not really a fan of some of the drinks I got but I do enjoy the jello. I bought three and they had a buy 2 get a free regular boba. Ther black tea is strong baby girl! I also ordered milk tea with ying yang and almond jello. I'm not sure why but it's a bit grainy? Maybe sesame seed? But I haven't had a strong bold tea flavor in awhile. They also had these little egg pluffle shaped as birds and I got all 4 flavors and it's about $5 for 3 small disk. They are STRONG tea flavors and super bitter! I would highly suggest just doing the original flavor. I also got the grandma fruit tea with fruit bits and it was good very strong tea notes!
